It was starting to really bother Sun.
This uneasiness in the pit of her stomach wouldn’t go away the more Ongsa’s popularity grew and it was beginning to piss her off. Not because she was mad that her girlfriend was becoming more outgoing and less introverted, but because of the amount of people, girls and boys alike, that would flock over to Ongsa’s side; completely disregarding the fact that Sun was right there.
Thankfully, with the more outspoken Ongsa grew to be after the whole ‘Earth’ scenario; her sweet and innocent Ongsa managed to grow a pair and tell some of these people off, but it became more and more of a problem and therefore less manageable to control. More so because they hadn’t particularly announced they were a couple to the student population of S-Tar.
Sun feels a bit to blame for that of course.
She had been the one to mention “taking things slow” to Ongsa at the beginning of their reconciliation, but even after becoming official neither of them have shown much pda to their fellow classmates other than the usual handholding and being by each others sides 24/7.
They both thought that was that until the official S-Tar Instagram page congratulated them with a “Best BFFs post” garnering the two a fair share of teasing from their friend groups who knew about their status.
And while all of that was embarrassing, none of it compares to what she just had to deal with right now.
On her way to the astronomy club she was stopped by a girl from the year below her.
“P’Sun, could I ask you a favor?” The girl’s voice trembled as she spoke; alerting Sun and prompting her to ask what was the issue. “Yes, what is it?” The cheerful girl had worry plastered all over her face as she stood in front of the nervous ninth grader. She began guessing on the situation the more the girl in front twirled her fingers and looked down.
Was she being bullied? Did she lose something? Maybe she was here to try and hide away in the astronomy club’s building (many had tried)
But nothing could prepare Sun for the next sentence barreling its way out of the mouth of her younger schoolmate.
“CouldyoupleasegivethistoP’OngsaIreallylikeherandIfiguredsinceyou’rebestfriendsyoucouldhelpme”
First of all… what?
No seriously.
Sun couldn’t pick apart anything from that other than her lover’s name and even then she was still unsure if she heard correctly.
“I’m so sorry, but could you please repeat that?” Sun asked in the most polite and kindest way ever, yet it looked like that one sentence took 10 years off the other girls life and now she was afraid to speak that forbidden sentence again.
After a brief moment of silence, Sun could make out a small mumble. “Uhm… could you please give this love letter to P’Ongsa? I really like her and since you’re her friend I just thought…” Oh this is so bad.
Sun’s mind felt like it was about to overheat and explode. This had gone too far and now she was unsure of how to handle this situation.
Sun was a very patient and empathetic person. The whole Earth situation proved that and she’s even thankful it happened as it truly tested just how much patience she could possess. Yet this time she feels her blood boiling. Maybe it’s because the subject at hand is her girlfriend, but Sun isn’t insecure about their relationship. Ongsa has so much love for her that whenever somebody mentions the actual Sun in their Science class Ongsa blushes.
However, she’s reminded of the time she was angry at P’Ton for always getting in her and Ongsa’s way. He would constantly be there and it drove Sun insane to the point that she needed to make sure Ongsa was definitely hers. So obviously she’s been jealous before they became official, but this jealousy that she holds now is even more hideous because now she has the right to be. It consumes her energy and it makes her want to scream and cry and pull Ongsa out of the astronomy club to kiss her right in front of this poor girl who knew nothing about them being together and… wait.
There’s such a simple solution to this.
Sun doesn’t even understand why she was getting so worked up in the first place now.
“I’m sorry I can’t do that.” She says firmly. The younger girl smiles sheepishly at Sun and nods her head as she moves to leave; understanding the situation as best as she could in the moment and tucking the love letter into her blouse’s pocket.
As she watches her leave, Sun feels bittersweet. On one hand she’s happy she handled that situation well and got one of Ongsa’s suitors to back down for the time being until she can sort everything out; and on the other hand she feels bad that this poor girl let her feelings grow not knowing that a world where her and Ongsa were together would be impossible.
She needs to get this sorted out fast.
Sun is a very assertive type of person. She bases her thoughts on her own feelings and she figures how to handle them on her own terms. She’s normally very level headed but Jealous Sun is the total opposite of Normal Sun.
Jealous Sun is straightforward and doesn’t think before acting; which is noticed as she marches her way into the astronomy club, pulls Ongsa out, leads her to the middle of the main entrance where almost every student can see them, and plants a kiss to Ongsa’s lips.
The entire student body erupts in confused squeals.
When Sun pulls away, Ongsa is left in a disoriented state. She doesn’t even know what just happened or how she made it to the courtyard because it all happened so quickly.
Sun drops her hand from Ongsa’s chin to her wrist and turns to look at every student who’s staring at the pair.
“I apologize if I haven’t made it totally clear to some of you. I know we don’t really show our love in public and it’s started to make some of you confused so I’ll say it now; Ongsa is my girlfriend and that is not going to change any time soon, so I hope you all will accept that.” She announces. There’s a brief pause before a loud amount of cheer is heard from everyone.
Ongsa, still in a delirious state of mind, finally attempts to focus due to the loud noise and stares at Sun.
“Sun? What was that all about?” She questions.
Sun turns back to the person she loves most and gives a cheeky yet sinister smile; Ongsa feels a chill up her spine.
“Just needed to let everyone know that you’re mine.”
