Chapter Text
On a great stone slab lay a mighty humanoid like robot, one which many refered to as a Zonai Construct. A sleeping tiger, awaiting its activation.
At first it was built to support the King in his battle against the Demon Lord, but after a reconfiguration of plans by the Sage Of Time, Zelda Princess of a time to come, its activation was delayed. Instead it would wait... wait for the Imprisoning war to end... wait for Hylia to once again choose her champion, and then it would rise.
So it waits, frozen in sleep mode, as his majesty Rauru first King of Hyrule stares down upon it. His expression solemn, his fate already written.
Could this Construct truly serve to reinforce Link in his coming battle not only against Calamity Ganon. But against the crippled Demon Lord aswell. Only Hylia could know.
His fate was sealed, or more accurately to seal. Should Ganondorf rise again after this battle to come then... Link will need all the assistance he can get.
And so this Construct will support him, or fall trying. That was its directive, help Hylia's chosen. He who wields that sacred blade which seals the darkness.
It's figure resembled a giant, twice the height of any normal hylian, and a core twice the size of what was to be expected from Zonai technology. A masterpiece... its almost a shame that no-one save the sage of time would ever witness its splendor in battle.
If by some miracle he won tommorows battle then maybe he could. But alas there is no use in living in fantasy. He had a war to win, he could not linger any longer.
And so with one final declaration he would leave.
"You who lay before me, one day your services will be required. You will join Hylia's champion in the war against Evil Incarnate and then the Demon Lord, do not falter, you are our last line of defense. If you fail all hope is lost. Hyrule will descend into darkness and all will be lost... you must win. Defeat is not an option."
And like that he was gone, ascending a staircase back to the surface, where he would regroup with the Sages and prepare for one last stand.
As the echoes of Rauru's solemn words faded into the chamber's stillness, the Zonai Construct remained inert, a sentinel of untold power awaiting its destiny. Within the depths of its core a faint glow began to pulse, almost like it had recognised the weight of its duty.
The last bastion between Hyrule and the approaching darkness... that was its purpose.
A subtle shift occured as its eye flickered to life for a split second, staring ahead, looking past its reality. Focusing on something, someone.
In another realm the 16 year old Y/N sat on their comfortable sofa, engrossed in their nintendo switch which which blasted the opening theme of their new game... well it wasn't so new anymore but they had to wait for prices to drop... "The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom".
Ofcourse they had tried to dodge spoilers, but that would be like running from angry cucoos, impossible.
Either way they couldn't help but feel excitement at the prospect of starting the game. They adored Breath of the wild enough to even write a few low quality fan fictions about it so there expectations for this game were quite simply unfair.
And yet even 5 hours in Y/N was not disappointed... wait what... 5 HOURS! ALREADY!!! They had literally just turned the game on and played a tiny bit... right?
Eh who cares its summer break anyway. Hardly like some unknown Omnipotent force is going to punish them for playing a game...
Y/N was really into the lore of this game, they had just unlocked their first memory and they were addicted. Not to mention meeting the characters who were in the last game was a joy aswell. Thankfully flowerblight ganon hadn't made her appearance... although Y/N had heard that Magda had been nerfed. It was good news but still unwelcome.
Anyway moving on from that tangent Y/N had begun their journey to the Rito village. Fortunately their precious horse Maple had transfered in between games which made traversing the collasal map progress at a faster pace.
Despite their joy something felt amiss the entire time but Y/N couldn't recognise what it was. This strange sensation seemed to linger in the back of their mind, like they were being pulled towards something.
Nevermind that though. Y/N continued onwards determined to make it to the Lucky Clover Gazette's base, and then Rito Village.
Making sure to murder every single korok on the way mind you. Not even psychopaths could devise such dastardly inventions which Y/N so easily created did they have no soul at all...
Moving on, Y/N couldn't help notice the lacking presence of Vah Medoh on the journey, they knew it was gone but for some reason that just felt so wrong, it must be something you have to get used to.
There it is, that strange sensation again. What could it possibly be?
Y/N arrived at what use to be stables but was now repurchased as a the Lucky Clover Gazette's main base, unfortunately this meant they couldn't board their horse, so they had to leave it outside for the time being.
Continuing the quest they were offered frog gear in exchange for visiting stables, not a bad trade... not at all. After all their second biggest cause of PTSD in Breath of the Wild, second only to flowerblight, was when it started raining at the castle, climbing just became miserable...
Surely this was the best armour set in the game right? No. It is not. The quest is problematic since it takes so long, and the rain at the castle stops being important because the endgame all happened in the depths.
As Y/N mind followed this tangent they almost didn't even realise they had managed to arrive in Rito village... time flies doesn't it.
The village was like a ghost town, stark contrast to the bustling village Y/N had grown to love, upon ascending the stairs more and more the strange feeling just grew stronger and stronger. Something wasn't right.
Upon arriving at the place which they knew to be Revali's landing they were met with some familiar faces. But Y/N felt so wrong, saving the game they turned off the console.
Looking around their empty room Y/N still felt uneasy. Were they just tired, what was the time... oh... 7 am... that'll do it... and yet that didn't feel like the issue at all. Laying down on their bed they began to drift off into the clutches of sleep.

Entering Slumber mode.
Y/N awoke to a slightly... majorly... concerning site. Their room no longer has a roof. Or walls... or floor... okay they weren't in their room then... and why is everything tinged green. Almost like an old camera lense.
And most importantly why was everything so damn quiet, Y/N couldn't hear a thing. Not even their own voice. Was this some strange type of nightmare? If so it was certainly confusing.
And also what happened to their hand... and the other one... also their legs... and their chest... wow...
Screw a nightmare this is awesome. We're they like a robot or something, ah that's so cool, why can't they get more dreams like this.
