Work Text:
Ivan had always been a bit out of touch with other people. He loved the idea of falling in love but found it difficult to believe that he would be able to find that special someone who would make his heart skip a beat. Unfortunately for him, that special someone turned out to be Till, a fellow student in his college.
From the moment Ivan met Till, he fell hard. There was something about the way Till carried himself, something about the way he smiled, that made Ivan's heart race. He tried to keep his feelings hidden, but it was no use. He was smitten.
They met in their first year of college during a lecture on literary criticism. Ivan was captivated by the way Till spoke about the novels they were studying. He had never heard anyone talk about literature with passion and insight. Till noticed Ivan's interest, and he caught up with him after class and struck up a conversation with him.
They quickly became friends, bonding over their shared love of books and movies. Ivan felt a connection with Till that he had never felt with anyone else before. He found himself thinking about Till all the time, daydreaming about what it would be like to be with him.
For years, Ivan pined after Till, hoping against hope that his feelings would be reciprocated. But they never were. Till was kind to Ivan, but he never showed any real interest in him beyond friendship. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but Ivan knew he had to move on.
After they graduated college, Ivan tried to forget about his unrequited love, but he never quite managed it. He dated around, but no one ever really measured up to Till. It was as if Till had set the bar impossibly high.
Years went by, and Ivan settled into a routine. He found a job he enjoyed, made friends, and dated a few people here and there. Life was good, but there was always a part of him that felt like it was missing.
Then, one day, Ivan got a job offer from a company he'd never heard of. He wasn't sure why, but something about the offer intrigued him. He decided to take a chance and accept the job.
On his first day at the new company, Ivan was surprised to see Till walking through the door. Till looked tired and stressed, and Ivan couldn't help but feel a twinge of concern. They exchanged pleasantries, and Ivan learned that Till had been struggling to find work for months. The company had been his last hope.
As the days went by, Ivan and Till found themselves working on the same project. They fell into an easy rhythm, working together seamlessly. It was as if no time had passed since they'd last seen each other.
Before long, Ivan realized that his feelings for Till had never really gone away. He tried to ignore them, tried to push them down, but it was no use. He was falling in love with Till all over again.
To his surprise, Till seemed to be feeling the same way. They started spending more time together outside of work, going for drinks and dinners and taking long walks. It was like they were college students again, free and unburdened.
Finally, one night, Till took Ivan's hand and looked into his eyes. "Ivan," he said, "I know this might be crazy, but I think I'm falling in love with you."
Ivan's heart leaped in his chest. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Till," he said, "I've been in love with you for years. I never stopped."
They kissed under the stars, and Ivan knew that he'd finally found the love he'd been searching for. It might have taken years, but it was worth it. Till was worth it.
Ivan and Till had been dating for a few months now, and everything was going well. Ivan had never been happier. He loved spending time with Till, loved the way Till made him feel.
But there was one thing that was starting to bother Ivan. He couldn't shake the feeling that Till was hiding something from him. Till was always evasive when Ivan asked him about his past. He would change the subject or deflect the question.
Ivan tried not to let it bother him. He didn't want to ruin what they had by pushing too hard. But the more he thought about it, the more curious he became.
One night, when they were lying in bed together, Ivan couldn't hold back anymore. "Till," he said, "I need to know something. Why were you so hesitant to talk to me again after all these years?"
Till sighed. "Ivan, it's complicated," he said.
"I know it's complicated," Ivan said. "But I need to understand. I feel like there's something you're not telling me."
Till hesitated for a moment, then sat up in bed. "Okay," he said. "I'll tell you. But you have to promise me that you won't judge me."
Ivan sat up, too, feeling a knot of anxiety in his stomach. "I won't judge you," he said. "Just tell me."
Till took a deep breath. "When we were in college, I was going through a lot," he said. "My family was falling apart, and I was struggling with depression. I didn't want to drag you into my problems. I didn't want to burden you with my issues. Even now, I find it hard to talk about what happened during that time."
Ivan felt a wave of sympathy wash over him. "Till," he said, reaching out to touch Till's hand. "Why didn't you tell me? I would have been there for you."
Till looked away. "I know," he said. "But I was ashamed. I didn't want anyone to know how messed up I was."
Ivan felt a pang of sadness. He couldn't believe that Till had been going through all of that alone. "Till," he said, "you don't have to be ashamed. I'm here for you now. I'll always be here for you."
Till turned back to Ivan, tears in his eyes. "I know," he said. "And I'm sorry. I should have told you sooner."
Ivan pulled Till into a tight embrace. "It's okay," he said. "We'll get through this together."
The next few weeks were tough. Till was going through a lot, and Ivan did his best to support him. They talked about everything, from Till's family issues to his depression. It was hard, but Ivan felt like they were growing closer than ever before.
One day, Till surprised Ivan by showing up at his apartment with a small, wriggling bundle in his arms. "Ivan," he said, "I want you to meet someone."
Ivan looked down at the bundle and saw a tiny kitten staring up at him with huge, green eyes. "Oh my god," he said, grinning from ear to ear. "Till, she's so cute."
Till smiled. "I thought she might cheer you up," he said. "She's been keeping me company when I'm feeling down."
Ivan took the kitten in his arms and held her close. She purred contentedly, and Ivan felt a warmth spread through his chest. Till had always known how to make him feel better.
As the weeks turned into months, Ivan and Till grew closer and closer. They fell more deeply in love with each passing day, and Ivan knew that he never wanted to be without Till again.
One night, as they were lying in bed together, Ivan took Till's hand and looked into his eyes. "Till," he said, "I love you more than anything in the world. I want to be with you forever."
Till's eyes widened. "Ivan," he said, "are you asking me to..."
Ivan nodded. "Yes," he said. "I'm asking you to marry me."
Till's face broke into a huge grin. "Yes," he said. "Of course, I'll marry you."
They kissed, and Ivan felt like his heart was going to burst with happiness. He had finally found the love he had been searching for all these years.
The wedding was beautiful. Ivan and Till exchanged vows under a canopy of flowers, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Ivan couldn't believe how lucky he was to have found someone like Till.
After the ceremony, they danced under the stars, twirling around in each other's arms. Ivan felt like he was on top of the world.
As they sat down to dinner, Ivan looked around at the smiling faces of their loved ones. He felt a sense of peace settle over him. He had finally found his place in the world with the person he loved more than anything.
As the night wore on, Ivan and Till slipped away from the party and went for a walk. They held hands as they strolled through the moonlit garden, talking about their hopes and dreams for the future.
"Ivan," Till said, stopping suddenly. "I have something to tell you."
Ivan looked up at him, feeling a sense of apprehension. "What is it?" he asked.
Till took a deep breath. "I've been offered a job in another city," he said. "It's a great opportunity, but it would mean moving away from here."
Ivan felt a sense of panic rising in his chest. "What does that mean for us?" he asked.
Till looked down at him, his eyes filled with love. "It means that we'll have to make a choice," he said. "We can stay here and keep things the way they are, or we can take a chance and try something new."
Ivan thought about it for a moment, then looked up at Till. "Let's take a chance," he said. "I don't want to lose you."
Till smiled. "I don't want to lose you either," he said. "Let's do it. Let's take a chance together."
They kissed under the stars, knowing that whatever happened, they would face it together. Ivan felt like his heart was overflowing with love.
The next few months were a whirlwind. Ivan and Till moved to a new city together, starting a new life in a place where they knew no one. It was scary, but it was also exciting. They were taking a chance on each other, and Ivan knew that they could make it work.
They found a small apartment in a trendy part of town, and Ivan got a job as a copywriter at a local advertising agency. Till started working as a freelance designer, taking on projects whenever he could.
It wasn't always easy. Money was tight, and there were times when Ivan and Till had to scrape by. But they never lost sight of what was important. They had each other, and that was all that mattered.
One day, as Ivan was walking home from work, he saw a poster for an open mic night at a local coffee shop. He felt a sudden urge to sign up. He had always loved writing poetry, but he had never had the courage to share it with anyone before.
He told Till about it that night, and Till encouraged him to go for it. "I believe in you," he said. "You're an amazing writer."
Ivan felt a surge of gratitude. Till had always been his biggest supporter, even when he didn't believe in himself.
The night of the open mic, Ivan was a bundle of nerves. He had never performed in front of an audience before. But as he stepped up to the mic and started reciting his poetry, he felt a sense of calm wash over him. He was doing what he loved, and he was doing it for Till.
When he finished, the audience erupted into applause. Ivan felt like he was on top of the world. Till was waiting for him by the door, his eyes shining with pride. "Ivan," he said, pulling him into a tight embrace. "I knew you could do it."
Ivan felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes. He had never felt so loved, so supported. Till was everything to him.
Years went by, and Ivan and Till built a life together in their new city. They made friends, pursued their passions, and made a home for themselves in their cozy apartment.
Ivan's career as a copywriter took off, and he found himself working on high-profile campaigns for major brands. Till's career as a designer took off, too, and he started landing bigger and more prestigious projects.
They were happy, but they never forgot the struggles they had faced together. They had been through tough times, but they had always come out stronger on the other side.
One day, Ivan came home from work to find Till sitting at the kitchen table, staring at a piece of paper. He looked up when Ivan walked in, and Ivan could see a look of worry on his face.
"Till, what's wrong?" Ivan asked, walking over to him.
Till handed him the piece of paper. It was a letter from Till's estranged father, asking to meet with him.
Ivan felt a pang of anger. Till's father had left the family when Till was young and had never made any effort to reconnect with him. Ivan couldn't believe that he was suddenly reaching out after all these years.
"What do you want to do?" Ivan asked.
Till shrugged. "I don't know," he said. "Part of me wants to see him, but part of me is scared. What if he's just going to hurt me again?"
Ivan took Till's hand. "Whatever you decide to do, I'll support you," he said. "I'll be there for you, no matter what."
Till looked up at him, tears in his eyes. "Thank you," he said. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
Till and Ivan decided to meet with Till's father. They arranged to meet him at a coffee shop in the city, and Ivan went along for support.
When they arrived, Till's father was already there, sitting at a table in the corner. He looked older than Till remembered, and his face was lined with wrinkles.
Till approached him cautiously, unsure of what to say. Ivan stood back, watching silently.
They talked for hours, catching up on the years that had passed between them. Till's father apologized for leaving, explaining that he had been going through a tough time and had needed to get away.
Till listened, but Ivan could see the pain in his eyes. He knew that Till was struggling with conflicting emotions - anger, hurt, and sadness all mixed together.
After they left the coffee shop, Till was quiet on the ride home. Ivan could tell that he was processing everything that had happened.
"What are you thinking?" Ivan asked, breaking the silence.
Till took a deep breath. "I don't know," he said. "Part of me wants to forgive him, but part of me still feels so hurt. I don't know if I can ever really trust him again."
Ivan reached over and took Till's hand. "Whatever you decide to do, I'll be here for you," he said. "I love you."
Till looked over at him, tears in his eyes. "I love you too," he said. "Thank you for always being there for me."
Months went by, and Ivan and Till settled back into their routine. They continued to work hard and build their careers, but they made time for each other too. They went on long walks, cooked dinner together, and cuddled on the couch while watching movies.
One night, as they were lying in bed together, Ivan felt a sense of unease wash over him. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
"Till," he said, sitting up in bed. "I have to tell you something."
Till sat up, too, looking concerned. "What is it?" he asked.
"I've been feeling sick lately," Ivan said. "I don't know what's wrong with me, but I've been having these terrible headaches and stomach pains."
Till looked worried. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" he asked.
"I don't know," Ivan said. "I didn't want to worry you. But I think I need to go to the doctor."
Till nodded. "Of course," he said. "We'll make an appointment tomorrow."
It turned out to be nothing serious, but it was quite a funny story. Because of the sex they'd been having, it somehow tricked Ivan's body into believing he was pregnant.
The mortification on Ivan's face made Till burst out laughing like a madman when the news broke.
After they left, Till finally gained some clarity and patted Ivan on the back. "I'm glad it was nothing serious, so let's laugh about it. Is that okay?"
Ivan took a big breath, held it, and let it go. This was a method of calming down that Till had taught him. "Yeah... okay."
Both smiled as they walked to the car. It was a beautiful day.
Ivan and Till always find new ways to support each other. They pursued their passions together, exploring new hobbies and interests.
One day, Ivan decided to take up painting. He had always loved art, but he had never had the confidence to try it himself. Till encouraged him, buying him a set of paints and brushes and setting up a small studio in their spare room.
Ivan spent hours painting, lost in the world of colors and shapes. Till watched him, smiling silently to himself. He loved seeing Ivan so happy.
Till started taking dance classes, something he had always been interested in but had never pursued. Ivan encouraged him, attending every class with him and cheering him on from the sidelines.
They traveled together, too, exploring new cities and countries. They went to Paris, Barcelona, and Tokyo, soaking up the culture and history.
As the years went by, Ivan and Till faced new challenges together. They weathered storms of job loss, illness scares, and family drama, but they never lost sight of what was important. They had each other, and that was all that mattered.
One day, as they were celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary, Ivan turned to Till. "Till," he said, taking his hand. "I can't believe it's been ten years. It feels like we've been together forever."
Till smiled. "I know," he said. "It's been an amazing journey."
"I love you more every day," Ivan said. "I never thought I could be this happy."
Till squeezed his hand. "I love you too," he said. "You're my everything."
They kissed, and Ivan felt like he was on top of the world. He knew that no matter what the future held, he could face it with Till by his side. They had been through so much together, and their love had only grown stronger.
