Chapter Text
FOREWORD
I don’t usually write this kind of thing for fics but this project is very special and I felt it kind of deserved it. As well as the people that have been and hopefully will be with me along the ride - the readers, the artists whose art you will see, my beta, my friends and support system, the fandom… ✨💜
That is not to say that my other projects are not special, they are. Very much so. Each and every one of them. They are pieces of my heart and soul and love them all dearly. Even the ones that have been difficult in one way or another.
But this one is a bit different. So it deserves a bit more in terms of a back story and notes.
Even though I am publishing this now, well more like starting to publish, it will be a journey, this was my very first concept when I stumbled on the VLD fandom.
So even though this is seeing the light of day now, it have been something that I have been working on for a few years already.
It found me in a moment in my life that had been very dark, trying and downright devastating. But just like this fandom, it became a warm safety blanket, a sanctuary of sorts, a beacon of hope and chance to get some rebirth from the ashes of a lot that had be broken, twisted and hurt.
This is also my first novel length fic for this fandom. It is going to be an interesting challenge in its own way and your support will mean the world. ✨💜
I have debated for a while how to approach creating and posting this work. My original thought was to write it all up, revise, edit and then publish, like I would approach a traditional novel… Then I looked at other projects I have been working on and how long it has taken me to work on them and they are still so far away from being ready to face the world. I also got out of my comfort zone and out of the shadows and started interacting more with the community. I got even more inspired and found amazing sources of support…
All of this, along with the positive changes I had experienced on a personal level after I became a bit more active in the community, as well as after I set myself on the long and arduous path of healing, made change tack a bit and gave me the encouragement to reconsider and start publishing this while I create it.
It is a very scary and daunting idea, but I am up for the challenge and if you are reading this, then it means I have taken the leap.
I want to promise I will be consistent and regular with this but I also need to be realistic and the reality is I cannot promise this. I really want to try and post at least monthly but there are way too many moving pieces for this to truly happen. And I prefer to be honest with you and with myself, rather than give out empty promises.
What I can promise is to try and to push and give it my all. And as long as you are here and give me your support, I am sure I will find the fuel to make it to the finish line. ✨💜
For the time being, this site is where the home of this work is going to be. Maybe this will change in the future and it will find other places and forms to reside in, but it will always start and stay here.
I will use this foreword chapter also as a place to have a summary and acknowledgment of all the amazing artists whose art I have featured in the story.
I want to give special thanks to these awesmazing creators who have warmed my soul by creating art (in one way or another) that is linked to this story. You gorgeous talented incredible people do not know how much it means to me. How much you mean to me.
I will be adding the pictures in their respective places in chapters and in the chapter’s AN but I wanted to make an acknowledgment here too. Please keep in mind that this will be growing along with the story as I do intend to stop… hehehehe…
But here is an idea of what you can look forward to as of this moment, in no particular order:

I also want to give special acknowledgment to the amazing beta I will be working with on this journey. RED is an amazing writer and even more amazing editor/beta and they have been my beta partner in crime on many a projects so I was over the moon when they agreed to be the person that keeps me in check on this one.
Fair warning, for various reasons that are completely in my court, I went ahead and published the first chapter of this story unbeta’ed. But hopefully as we go along, I will manage my time and everything a bit better. I do promise to try.
I also want to say a huge thank you to this fandom for being my saving grace in a period of my life that was incredibly difficult for me, which was when this story was born. For giving me a community, for reigniting my creative spark, for the immense support and encouragement, for all the amazing friends I found and the incredible inspiration. I was able to resurrect myself because of it, because of you, and to start on a journey of healing. I especially want to call out my dearest zine dream friends - the four horsepeople of the zinepocalypse, you three know who you are, as well as the Klance Intergalactic Hub creator support community and its amazing mod team. I love you all to pieces and look forward to having your magic in my days till the rest of my life… ✨
This is a story about communication, the difficulties with it, the journey we go through to have a good communication with the people we care about and the people in general. It explores the good and bad side of communication and its lack. The toxicity we can imbue it with and generate in ourselves when we don’t have it.
It explores a whole bunch of dark themes and topics but it is also a positive story full of hope and I promise a happy ending.
I do hope you take that journey with me and also please be kind - to the characters, to the story, to each other, to the world.
And as a final word, I want to dedicate this story to my mom. We spent our entire lives trying to find that communication, and we had some moments. I wish we could have been able to do more while you were here but who knows what the universe holds for us. I love you with all my soul and will meet you again… ✨💜✨
