*In the evening, after school hours...*
The door that lead to Alice's room squeaked, and was opened gently by a white hand that slowly gained color
"Alice? Are you sleeping?"
Oliver stepped inside carefully, walking inside the black void-like room.
Finally, an even blacker figure appeared, it had tentacles, and a weird creepy smile. But it quickly morphed into a young beautiful girl.
"I'm not...I was waiting for you Oliver"
"Why~? Did my princess miss me?"
"...maybe..."
She mumbled under her breath, almost inaudible, although Oliver heard her clearly
"Aww, my poor Alice! Come here you~"
Oliver hugged Alice tightly, embracing her with all his might.
Due to their height difference, Alice's head ended up right in the middle of Oliver's chest...
Which meant she could hear his heart
Usually, whenever human organs are involved, it means lunch and homicide
But not in this case
His heart gently beat in her ear, slowly but mightly, his chest moving along with his life rhythm
Her eyes closed, taking in the adorable song being played in her ears
"earth to Alice?"
"Hm?"
"There you are, you spaced out, what's going on?"
"Nothing..."
"Hmm...yeah I'm not believing you"
"Hey!"
She blushed has her hands went forcefully down with fists
"Come on, you can tell your boyfriend what's up~"
"You... you're going to make fun of me"
Oliver looked surprised by her words, and took him a minute to think of a reply
"You think I would do that to you?"
Alice actually started feeling guilty for telling him that, after all, she should know better. She looked down and silently replied
"No..."
"Oh...then... would you mind telling me what's on your mind?"
Alice looked away again, she felt embarrassed for what she was about to say
"I seem to have a... fascination towards your heart"
"My heart?"
"Yes...the one that's beating inside you right now"
"Oh!"
Oliver's hand went unconsciously over his chest, feeling his own heart beating gently
"That's unusual...may I ask why?"
"I just... like it's sounds, the way it moves...I just really enjoy it"
"I see...hehe...that's pretty cute"
"You really think so?"
"Yeah...it's sweet"
"O-oh..."
"Would you like to put your ear to my chest?"
Alice's face went red at his words, she felt as she would explode soon, but nevertheless, she instantly replied
"Yes."
He hugged her again, making sure her ear was perfectly centered on his chest, and pressed her head against his body
"Can you hear it?"
Those words really sent shivers down her spine, she silently replied
"Yes..."
At her reply, she heard Oliver's heart quicken in pace, and she smiled a little
"You humans have such reactive hearts..."
"Yeah?"
"Indeed... your hearts go insanely fast for even the smallest of things...I love that..."
"I've never met someone with such an unusual fascination towards hearts, it's really adorable"
"I like how fast yours is right now"
"It's fast?"
"Kinda...yes"
Oliver laughed quietly at her words
"I see, I guess my heart is a little shy of being so wanted~"
"Yeah...shy...that's so adorable...hmm..."
The more she listened, the more she started to space out again, it seemed his heart had a weird, calming effect on Alice
"How...how long are you going to listen for?"
"...I don't know..."
"Hahaha, you don't?"
"No...I could listen to it forever"
"I think I get that now, my princess likes her knights strong and brave heart!"
"Didn't you just say your heart is shy?"
"Shhhhhh...no questions"
Alice laughed gently at his silly words, as her head finally left the soft nest that is Oliver's chest
"Shall we take this to the bed?"
"Oh~?"
"Not...not that way you dirty boy!"
"Aw, alright anyway"
The two lovebirds slowly walked to Alice's soft, colorful bed, and laid down next to each other
"Hmm...so Alice...did you ever notice this liking of yours in the past?"
"...no, not really. I've only ever eaten hearts, never listened to them"
"I see"
The pair stayed silent for a minute, wondering what to say next
"Do you want to listen to it again?"
"Hmm...yes"
Her ear slowly returned to it's nest, the comforting beat of Oliver's heart filling her up
"Hmm..."
"...you know, I love having you so close and stuff, but I don't want to stay still and silent my dear"
"But...but your little thumps are adorable"
"My what?"
"Your little thumps"
Oliver burst into laughter as he heard those words, nearly suffocating
"Oh my god, you're so precious"
"It got faster!"
"I'm sure it did, listen to it closely"
Alice obeyed, listening to his heart as closely as she could, his fast thumps making her feel unusual
"I love your heart"
"Aww, that's adorable! My heart says it loves you too~"
"Hehe"
The two lovebirds remained in each other's embrace for the rest of the night, falling asleep to the sound of Oliver's heartbeat
