After unbearable hours of struggling he finally complained to his horrid doctor that his current medication was making him see and hear things that weren’t there and as a result they changed the medication, Which Nigel let himself think that of as a good thing ,Except now he’s looking at an oddly dapper white rabbit who seemed strangely panicked in the wards gardens where he goes for some resemblance of peace of mind amidst these horrific people, Also severely disappointed he couldn’t open it up obviously being allowed no sharp instruments but following it won’t do no harm so that he exactly does.
Putting down his old dusty bible and slowly getting up to follow it, He tries to catch up to it without alarming it unfortunately he’s also severely unsuccessful in that and he manages to bring the white rabbits attention to him who then pulls out some pocket watch looking at it in a panic and keeps hopping somewhere and Nigel keeps following it until he suddenly saw the rabbit jump down some strangely big hole. After a few seconds of thinking it over he decided to jump in and there he fell deeper and deeper, Looking up he could see the hole of light he was just at getting further and further away, Everything slowly growing darker and darker till he felt something hit his head which very helpfully turned out to be a battery-powered lantern which you’d usually see with a kid on all hallow’s eve and not hitting you in the head in some never-ending previously-dark-now-illuminated hole
Now being able to see the walls of this weird hole he’d expected them to be dirt but strangely their wood and are decorated with frames and paintings just like what you’d see in a typical home, And unexpectedly he falls right on a cushion in what seems like a strange room with no doors and only a table in the middle, After roaming around a few times he found a tiny door that he obviously could not get through he found a key on that same table that could open the door, Peaking to look through it what was outside seemed so strange to him he was almost convinced he was dreaming, A quick pinch proved otherwise but redirecting his attention back to the door he obviously could not go through it so back to roaming the room he went.
A sudden noise near the table drew his attention to it only to notice a tiny box and a bottle of the same size next to each other, Suspicious he opened the box to reveal a bunch of colored sugar cookies with ‘EAT ME’ in colorful letters, He didn’t trust it one bit so he turned his attention to the bottle which only had a tag labeled ‘DRINK ME’, His suspicions arising but after a few minutes of logical thinking he took a tiny nibble of the sugar cookie and shockingly he grew smaller in size, A sudden idea hit him his thoughts back circling back to the tiny door, He could definitely eat a few bits till he’s a good size, He grabbed the cookie box and the bottle and put them in his pocket and there he nibbled on the cookie till he was a perfect size to go through the door.
Once he was sure he was done with the door he took the drink to test it out and he wasn’t shocked to find out it reversed the affects that cookie had on him, Now back to normal he found himself in a strangle forest area that seemed oddly tidy and organized..Strangely the small door he just went through nowhere to be seen but if he’s changing in size from a few cookies a disappearing door wouldn’t shock him, Deciding not to question it for now he saw the white rabbit that got him in this mess in the first place stop to look at its pocket watch in a hurry and hop away, Nigel ran after it suddenly finding himself in a colorful garden which kind of seemed like those scarily-perfect neighborhoods he’d see on the television as a child except this one didn’t feel right in some way, The windows are off, The doors aren’t right, The gardens have..talking flowers and walking lizards ?…
Nigel couldn’t believe what he was seeing, Sure the change in size or the sudden disappearance of a door or even a rabbit in a suit with a pocket watch was shocking but now he was sure he was losing it,
The further he walks the stranger everything got, Suddenly a strange looking bird in some captain suit approached him “Hey kiddo who are you ? I haven’t seen you around and trust me on that, i
know everyone in here ! Even the queen you see, She invit-“
Nigel walked off, He wasn’t dealing with whatever this abomination is,
You see he would have usually indulged whatever this animal wanted just to get his hands on it, But if this thing could speak he’s not willing to risk his safety, It’s not worth it ! It’s not even a good bird !.
He reassured the curious little child in his mind, Looking behind him that strange bird was still blabbering on his strange connections to the people in this nightmare, “Hey you !” A strange voice called out to him but looking around him he couldn’t find any source so he kept walking “What ill manners you have !!” He snapped his neck to the source looking around for it until he spotted a pearly white sharp smile re-emerging from on top of the tree branches to show a purple stripped cat with a wide smile, He narrowed his eyes at it which warranted what seemed like a pout from the stripped monster
“So where you headed ? why are you here ? what’s the whole story ! give me every detail !” The cat smiled from ear to ear, “…I was following a very dapper white rabbit and fell in a hole..” Nigel said very forcefully making sure to pick his words and tone correctly as to not warrant an attack from this odd feline.
“Ah ! The white rabbit ! That fellow! He works beside the Royal court and such, Very nice guy you see but always in a hurry that one, Had me over for tea for my last unbirthday ! Nice fellow…Very nice..” The cat smiled to himself as he trailed off “Well ! You have your fun following him, I’m always around if you ever need a helping hand” And before Nigel could ask his name or wherever the hell he is the cat slowly faded away leaving a grind in his place that eventually did disappear.
He ended up going back to where he was going and after what felt like forever in between the odder and odder houses and the even odder residents he noticed a tiny box that seemed similar to his earlier one and without missing a beat he snatched it, Opening it to reveal similar cookies, He took one out and put the box in his pocket for later. Expecting something crazy like another size change or suddenly flying or even turning into one of those monsters..Nothing changed except he heard a similar voice shout his name, “Nigel !! Nigelll! Where are you!!”
After a few times he recognized it as the nurses voice and suddenly he awoke back to the wards garden, Apparently he was just dreaming ?.. But checking his pockets proved otherwise, The size changing cookies aren’t there but the ones that brought him sure are still there but now with a strange note which seemed like it was written in cut out letters stating “EAT ME 4 WONDERLAND”. ‘Wonderland’ ?..Questioned Nigel to himself, He assumed that was the that odd places name but now he has a free whenever he wants ticket to go back there any time.
A sudden quick footsteps approached and he hurriedly put the box and its note back in his pockets so only after the nurse that was calling him out a few moments before finally found him, “There you are Nigel ! Goodness don’t do that again, You haven’t been here for long and here you are starting trouble.” Scolded the nurse as she waited for him to gather his things up so she can bring him back inside, Soon after that he had to be force-fed whatever sludge they were feeding him and these ..People, And then he was force fed his pills too, Putting up quite the struggle and then dragged to his room and left alone, He hid his tiny box where no one but him can find it and he asked the nurses to let him go get washed and they let him go with a watch of their eyes and impatience on their harsh features and back to his ‘room’ he went immediately tucking himself in for once excited to what tomorrow might bring.
He’s definitely going back to wonderland again.
