Chapter Text

It was Seokjin's sister's wedding day, and everything was as perfect as the couple had planned. The ceremony took place at a grand estate, with manicured gardens and ancient trees providing a picturesque backdrop. Archways draped in white and pastel flowers and twinkling fairy lights set a magical scene. Guests sat on vintage wooden chairs with plush cushions, arranged neatly on either side of a petal-strewn aisle.

The reception was set in the estate's grand ballroom, featuring high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the beautiful gardens. In the center of the room was a large dance floor, with a canopy of twinkling lights overhead creating a starry sky effect. A live string quartet serenaded guests during the ceremony and dinner, later transitioning to a live band or DJ for a lively dance party. Guests enjoyed a whimsical photo booth with fairy tale-themed props, and a dessert table boasting a multi-tiered wedding cake adorned with edible flowers and fairy tale motifs, along with an array of sweets like macarons, petit fours, and fairy cakes. Outside, a vintage car, decorated with flowers matching the wedding theme, awaited to whisk the couple away.

His sister’s Groom, Jeon Jeongguk looked impeccable in his perfectly tailored designer suit picked by his Sister.

Everything was perfect, just as his sister had envisioned. Everything except, It was him, Kim Seokjin, a 25 year old unfortunate one in the family, is the one getting betrothed to the man his sister was engaged to.

TWO DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING - [JEON FAMILY]

"What the fuck is going on, Park? Why did you interrupt me during a meeting? What's the urgent matter?" Jeongguk burst into his office, his voice filled with frustration.

"Sir, your parents are here," Jimin, his assistant, replied nervously, feeling the brunt of his boss's anger.

"Do you not fucking understand that I am not to be disturbed while I am working?" Jeongguk exclaimed as he noticed his parents waiting for him in the office.

"Jeongguk, my son," his mother approached him with tears in her eyes.

Jeon Jeongguk, a 30-year-old Vice Chairman of Jeon Industries, a prominent industrial company in South Korea, grew up in a world where success, ambition, and business prowess were highly valued. Family gatherings often centered around discussions of business strategies, market trends, and financial objectives, all with a strong focus on upholding and advancing the family's legacy.

Having received an exceptional education focused on business, economics, and leadership from prestigious schools and universities, Jeongguk's upbringing was far from ordinary. At six years old his, while his peers played in the sand and water, he was made to undergo rigorous training for debate competitions. This relentless drive to excel in everything he did was deeply ingrained in him.

As the sole heir, Jeongguk faced immense pressure to live up to his family's high expectations. It was this pressure that led him to agree to marry Kim Sujin, the daughter of the President of the Nation. Their marriage was merely a strategic alliance, uniting two powerful and affluent families. Love and genuine affection were foreign concepts to Jeongguk, as his relationships had always been fleeting and superficial, consisting of casual encounters throughout his teenage and adult years. His mother often arranged blind dates for him, most of which ended with him either ditching the date or spending a single night together.

However, everything changed when he met Kim Sujin two months ago on a date arranged by their families. She was unlike anyone he had ever met before - kind, understanding, and accepting of his reserved nature. She never pressured him to open up or share more than he was comfortable with. Unlike his previous experiences, she was not clingy or possessive, allowing both of them to have their personal space. Jeongguk genuinely believed that this relationship could work. He was touched by her thoughtfulness and dedication, as she took charge of all the wedding preparations, even picking out his designer suit. At some point, he realized that he trusted her more than he trusted himself.

The wedding alliance between the President's family and the Jeon family had been announced to the public two weeks prior, stirring up a whirlwind of excitement and speculation. The union promised to be one of the most influential and powerful in recent history, though the couple had never been seen on public dates. Their meetings were always secluded, private dinners at exclusive restaurants booked entirely for their use.

Now, just two days before the wedding, Jeongguk been given the news of the woman he was supposed to marry had eloped with the President's secretary, fleeing the country together.

Jeongguk sat in silence for a full ten minutes, his parents' voices washing over him as they relayed the details. His face remained impassive, betraying no hint of the turmoil within. He listened to every word without reaction.

"Are you guys done? Can I resume my work?" Jeongguk said, his voice detached.

"Jeongguk, this is your marriage we are talking about," his father replied, his tone stern and unyielding.

"Marriage you forced me into," Jeongguk shot back, a flash of anger breaking through his otherwise calm demeanor.

"Jeongguk, please, son. This is the only option we have now. We can't let this news get out, and the wedding has to happen no matter what," his mother pleaded, her voice wavering with desperation.

Jeongguk's eyes narrowed, but he remained silent.

"So you want me to marry the President's youngest son now?" Jeongguk asked, his voice dripping with incredulity.

"Jeongguk dear, he is a nice guy," his mother began, her tone attempting to soothe. "He grew up abroad with his grandparents, away from all this politics. They said he's doing some computer-related work. He looks very handsome..."

"Are you even hearing yourself, Mother?" Jeongguk interrupted, his frustration boiling over. "I'm tired of hearing the same shit every time I go on a date: 'Oh, Jeongguk, you should meet her, she is amazing.' Isn't this what you said about Sujin too? What happened now?" His voice rose to a shout as he walked away from them, heading back to his desk.

His father's voice was cold and unyielding. "Then you have to step down from the vice chairman position. I don't have a choice."

Jeonnguk just let out a smirk

"Jeongguk, you have no idea how much of a problem this could cause us. This is the President we're talking about. He has the whole nation under his control. He might do anything if you don't agree to this," his father warned.

"I'm not the one who eloped," Jeongguk shot back. "And I'm fucking straight. How are you expecting me to marry a guy?" he snapped, his frustration boiling over.

"You have two days. You can meet him if you want. I will talk to the President and arrange it. It's not like you have to live a committed life with him. This marriage is just a show for the public and tie up between the family. You both can do whatever you want in private after the marriage. But the marriage is happening. The decision is final. You are not backing out from this. Or else, forget everything you worked for," his father said, his tone final, before walking away, leaving Jeongguk alone with his mother.

Jeongguk noticed his mother sobbing quietly. "The next classic move is emotional blackmail," he thought bitterly.

He let out a deep breath. "I don't care. Do whatever you want and tell Dad I'm not meeting whoever I'm marrying before. I will be at the wedding as you asked in two days. Don't try to reach me until then. Now leave my office," Jeongguk said firmly, turning on his laptop

THE WEDDING

SEOKJIN POV - JJK Weds KSJ

Kim Su-Jin/ Kim Seok-Jin

Seokjin never knew having the same initials might come in this handy. Is this why parents like to name their kids similarly? They had nothing to change except for preparing a shitty-looking black suit for him. He had never regretted anything in his life, except for him deciding to attend his sister's wedding, which was actually because of his grandmother. Seokjin absolutely loves her, and that was the same reason why he is now standing in front of this man

Jeon Jungkook, the man Seokjin’s sister ran away from. The man who had no fucking shame in agreeing to marry the brother of the woman he was engaged to. After two days of hearing about  his praises from his mom and grandmother made his stomach sick. He knew they were trying hard to sell him out to him. Because Seokjin is someone who doesn't believe in marriage without love. After all this marriage is just a convenient tie up between the family. Then there was his Father who came and practically begged him to go along with it and promised him that he will get him out of it after a year, stating the marriage is just for a show and Jeongguk had agreed to do the same. But Seokjin was secretly hoping till the last minute Jeongguk would do something to stop the wedding. ‘Wasn't he the influential one here?’  Seokjin was at least expecting Jeongguk to meet him before the wedding so that they could come up with something together to stop this madness. But no. Seokjin straight-up got the news that Jeongguk had agreed to marry him.

Kim Seokjin, 25-year-old game designer, who was living his best life in Toronto, now taking pre-written vows with a man he knows nothing about except for his name.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Jeon Jeongguk and Kim Seokjin in holy matrimony. The officiant started.  ‘Shouldn't it be like ‘union of Jeon Family and the Kim family’ ,’ Seokjin thought to himself

“This is a day of celebration, where we rejoice in the love and commitment that Jeon Jeongguk and Kim Seokjin share. Today, they will pledge their lives to one another, promising to cherish and support each other through all that life brings." The officiant said and then turned to Jeongguk

"Jeongguk, do you take Kim Seokjin to be your lawfully wedded spouse, to live together in marriage? Do you promise to love, honor, and cherish them, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, in joy and in sorrow, and to be faithful to them alone as long as you both shall live?"

"I do."Jeongguk said without any hesitation

‘Damn’ Seokjin muttered under his breath

The Officiant said "Please repeat after me."

"I, Jeon Jeongguk, take you, Kim Seokjin, to be my wedded spouse. I promise to love you, to honor and cherish you, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, in joy and in sorrow, and to be faithful to you alone, as long as we both shall live." Jeongguk said, looking at Seokjin without taking his eyes off him.

The man was nothing but a damn statue. No expression on his face whatsoever the whole time. He was almost behaving like someone preprogrammed to give the output as they hoped for.

The officiant then turned towards him

'Fuck'

"Kim Seokjin, do you take Jeon Jeongguk to be your lawfully wedded spouse, to live together in marriage? Do you promise to love, honor, and cherish them, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, in joy and in sorrow, and to be faithful to them alone as long as you both shall live?"

Should he just say ‘I don't’ and make a scene? He turned to look at his Father and Mother shooting daggers through their eyes. Then he turned towards the man who was in front him, again with stoic face.

"Kim Seokjin" The officiant called

'Shit'

"I do."

Officiant said "Please repeat after me."

"I, Kim Seokjin, take you, Jeon Jeongguk ,to be my wedded spouse. I promise to love you, to honor and cherish you, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, in joy and in sorrow, and to be faithful to you alone, as long as we both shall live."

The Officiant said "The rings, please."

Jeongguk's best man, a tall dimpled guy presented the rings to the officiant, who then handed the rings to them.

"These rings are a symbol of the unbroken circle of love. Love freely given has no beginning and no end, no giver and no receiver, for each is the giver and each is the receiver. May these rings always remind you of the vows you have taken." The officiant said

‘This little round thing? Well no shit’ Seokjin muttered again

Jeongguk looked at him for a moment and said  “May i have your hand”

‘The first fucking thing he ever spoke since the wedding started. Wow’

Seokjin extended his hand and he placed the ring on his finger gently. ‘Well , ofcourse Preprogrammed again’

"Kim Seokjin with this ring, I thee wed."Jeongguk said quietly

Then it was Seokjin's turn. He had extended his hand even before he asked. Then Seokjin placed the ring on his finger. More like shoving it.

"Jeon Jeongguk, with this ring, I thee wed."

Here it comes,

"By the power vested in me by the state, I now pronounce you married. You may kiss your spouse."The officiant announced

Jeongguk took Seokjin's hands and kissed on the ring.

'Seriously?? Who is even this guy?'

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great honor to present to you, for the first time as a married couple, Jeon Jeongguk and Kim Seokjin!"

The guests stood up from their seats and cheered loudly celebrating the downfall of his life.

.........

The rest of the wedding proceeded smoothly, just as their families had expected. With the event already becoming the talk of the country, there were no elaborate ceremonies or festivities. Given that 75% of the country had naturally assumed the wedding would be between the president's first daughter and Jeongguk, the subdued affair came as no surprise.

Seokjin’s father, the President, had three children: Kim Sujin, Kim Sejin, and Kim Seokjin. However, Kim Sejin, the middle child and the President's favorite, was already married to the youngest heir of the Min family, Min Yunji, leaving Kim Sujin and Kim Seokjin as the only ones for people to speculate about. Since Seokjin had spent most of his life abroad, the public had little knowledge of him.

The wedding festivities mainly comprised clicking a few family photos and capturing moments with relatives, friends of their parents, and other esteemed members of high society. The couple posed for a few shots together, opting for classic poses that didn't involve any kind of intimacy.

As the evening drew to a close, Jeongguk and Seokjin made their exit, stepping into the waiting vintage car as guests and parents waved goodbye, marking the end of the event.

“Fuck”Seokjin muttered

"So, where are we going? Penthouse or Hotel?” Seokjin asked, trying to break the silence. “I really hope it's a hotel. The smell of fresh sheets and I won't mind waking up to bed and breakfast tomorrow morning”

Jeongguk remained silent, offering no response.

"Not much of a talker, huh?" Seokjin remarked, a hint of annoyance in his voice. "Fine," he added, signaling to the driver. "Driver, can you turn on some music?"

"Will you just shut up?" Jeongguk snapped.

Seokjin raised an eyebrow. "Ah, so you can talk," he commented, but Jeongguk chose to stay silent once more. The rest of the car ride passed in silence, with Seokjin occasionally engaging in conversation with the driver, who responded with polite nods.

They arrived at the penthouse, a lavish gift from both of their parents for the newlywed couple. The luxury apartment boasted a private entry to the parking and a dedicated elevator leading directly to their penthouse on the top floor. Guarded by private security, it exuded an air of exclusivity and opulence.

Stepping out of the elevator, Seokjin and Jeongguk entered the plush foyer, where the soft hum of the city below seemed like a distant memory. The doors, crafted from sleek, dark wood and accented with polished brass, opened effortlessly, revealing a space that exuded sophistication and elegance.

As Seokjin took in the surroundings, the rich scent of leather and fresh flowers enveloped him. The vast, open-plan living area stretched out before him, illuminated by strategically placed recessed lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the city skyline.

"Huh! It sucks! Did she decorate this too?" Seokjin remarked, his tone laced with disdain.

"Your bedroom is downstairs to the right. It must be already arranged with your things. I'm taking the upstairs bedroom, so the upstairs is completely off-limits to you," Jeongguk stated matter-of-factly, heading towards the stairs.

"Why don't I get the upstairs bedroom? Wasn't the penthouse gifted by both of our parents, splitting the share equally? How do you get to choose what you want, and I can't?" Seokjin questioned, his voice tinged with frustration.

Jeongguk let out a deep breath and approached Seokjin. "Look, I'm tired and have work tomorrow. Whatever you want to blabber about can wait until tomorrow," he said, his voice weary.

"No, you can't go to your room until we sort this out," Seokjin insisted, pulling a chair up to the dining table and taking a seat.

Jeongguk pursed his lips tightly and reluctantly took a chair opposite Seokjin. "Fine, what the fuck do you want to talk about?" he asked, his tone brusque.

"Look, Jeongguk, I know we both agreed to this wedding because of our fucked-up families. But it's done, and we can't change anything, at least for a while," Seokjin began. "I don't like living in a place where people think it's okay to treat me like shit. I understand you're not much of a talker and you prefer privacy. That's totally fine. But I need to establish some ground rules between us so we can both live in this house peacefully without making this marriage a big deal," he said earnestly.

Jeongguk went quiet for a moment, his gaze fixed on Seokjin. "Go ahead," he finally said, his tone neutral.

"Number one, you don't get to order me around. We have equal share in this house," Seokjin stated firmly.

"Number two, I work from home. The ground floor seems to have only one bedroom. And I refuse to work in my bedroom. I need a freaking work studio so I can work in peace. So you claiming the whole first floor is unacceptable," he continued, his tone unwavering.

"Number three, it's more of a question. Am I allowed to see other people?" Seokjin asked.

"What?" Jeongguk's brows furrowed in confusion.

"What? What will I do if I have needs? Or are we going to go with a marriage with benefits? Because I don't have any issue with that," Seokjin said, shrugging nonchalantly.

"That will never happen," Jeongguk asserted.

"Never happen what? Me seeing other people?" Seokjin probed.

"Us having a marriage with benefits," Jeongguk clarified.

"Huh! Alright. I'll stick with the first option then. And don't worry, I won't bring any men home," Seokjin responded casually.

"I don't fucking care," Jeongguk retorted.

"Number four, I love to use the house as I like to. It involves me cooking, or watching TV, or roaming around the house without shirts or pants sometimes," Seokjin continued, observing Jeongguk's glare. "If it will affect you, I can refrain from doing it."

"Again, I don't care. You can walk around even naked. And that won't bother me. I'm straight," Jeongguk stated.

“Straight or haven't been with a man?” Seokjin asked raising his eyebrows

Jeongguk eyes widened and gaped a bit “ I'm straight “ he stated firmly

"Huh! Alright. If you say so," Seokjin remarked with a chuckle

"What?" Jeongguk said glaring

"I kinda figured when you took my hands to kiss the ring when the officiant said ‘You may kiss your spouse.’ Like who the hell does that?" Seokjin chuckled.

"If you're done, I'm leaving to  my room," Jeongguk said, walking away.

"Wait, Don't you have any ground rules?" Seokjin called after him.

Jeongguk stopped and looked at Seokjin for a moment. "Just one," he said finally.

"What is it?" Seokjin asked, a hint of excitement in his eyes.

"Don't fucking talk to me again," Jeongguk said bluntly.

"Alright, Mr. Robot," Seokjin quipped, mimicking his voice as a robot.

Jeongguk just glared and left to his room, slamming the door shut behind him.
