Work Text:
“Go get your socks!” Leo exasperatedly said with a small smile on his face.
“But I’m comfy,” Finn whined, drawling out the last word. He currently had his head on Logan’s lap enjoying the feeling of fingers through his hair, and also simultaneously poking Leo with his “freezing cold” toes.
Finn felt a kiss on his forehead and looked up slightly. “Think about how comfy you could be with warm feet,” Logan whispered in his ear with a smirk.
Finn sighed and shook his head while he sat up. “You should be glad I love you,” he said to Leo, giving him a small peck on his cheek as he walked by.
Finn walked into their bedroom and grabbed a pair of socks from the drawer. He was about to wander back into the living room when he got a text.
He pulled out his phone from his pocket. And the name that popped up on the screen made him drop it.
It was his agent.
Finn didn’t even realize when his breathing picked up. He backed away from his phone as if it was a wild animal, until his he hit a wall and he slid down.
Why would Martin text him?
The logical part of his brain thought about all the things Martin might need to text him before the season starts, but the less logical side of Finn’s brain, the one he was currently listening to more, could only think about him being traded.
Tears sprung in his eyes. When Logan was traded to the Rangers, it was the start of one of the worst couple weeks of Finn’s life. At least Logan is in New York! Finn could be going anywhere.
He felt tears running down his face, but he found he didn’t really care. Crying was the least of his issues. He covered his mouth with his hand to try and muffle a sob, as he thought about leaving.
He can’t do it! He can’t leave his team behind. He can’t leave Leo and Logan. He can’t handle going through that again! They were happy. They were finally happy, and here Finn was messing all that up.
“Sweetheart you really don’t need to get your socks if-,” Leo cut himself off after his eyes landed on Finn sitting on the floor, knees curled up to his chest, crying. “Shit, um. Logan come here!”
Leo turned his attention back to Finn when he heard Logan’s footsteps making their way to the bedroom. “Love? Finn, can you hear me?”
Finn shook his head quickly and shoved the heels of his palms into his eyes.
“Oh non,” Leo heard Logan whisper behind him.
A loud sob ripped through Finn, as he once again moved one hand to muffle it. Letting the other drop to wrap around his stomach.
Leo kneeled down in front of him as Logan made his way to rest near Finn’s side. They were just far enough away that neither of them were touching him, but close enough Finn could reach out if he needed them.
“Breathe mon rouge. In through your nose out through your mouth,” Logan took a big breath and exaggeratedly let it out.
“I don’t want t-to go,” Finn whispered while tears rolled down his face. Logan and Leo shared a quick confused look over his head.
“Go where, Harz?” Leo softly asked.
That only seemed to upset Finn more. He leaned forward shoving his teary, wet face into Leo’s neck. Leo slowly raised his hand and cupped Finn’s head, gently threading his fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck.
Logan took a moment to look around the room trying to find the thing that could have made Finn break down. That’s when he saw it. Finn’s phone laying face down on the floor.
Logan’s heartbeat quickened as he quickly pulled out his own phone hoping what he thought wasn’t true. He scrolled quickly through twitter, while listening to Leo whisper and gently shush Finn, rocking him side to side.
Logan found….. nothing. Not a single thing about trades, nothing about their relationship, no drama featuring Finn’s name. Nothing.
Leo looked up and they locked eyes. Logan saw the silent question behind his boyfriend’s stare and slowly shook his head with furrowed brows.
Finn had calmed down by then and was breathing relatively normal other than a few hitches. “Mon chéri, what’s happening in that head of yours?” Logan asked rubbing his hand up and down Finn’s back.
Finn mumbled something in Leo’s shoulder.
“We can’t hear you sweetheart,” Leo said gently.
Finn lifted his head and flickered his eyes back and fourth between both of his boyfriends before looking down.
“I’m sorry I’m ruining everything.” He whispered.
His boys were quick to reassure him.
“You haven’t ruined anything.”
“Mon amour, you have nothing to be sorry for.”
Finn smiled though it did not fully reach his eyes, “I like it here.”
Leo nodded encouragingly. “We love having you here, Finn.”
Finn looked up, and he had tears running down his cheeks again. Leo moved quickly to cup his face and swipe them off with his thumbs.
“I want to stay,” Finn said. His eyes were foggy with tears and his cheeks were red and wet. “I don’t want to leave you. I don’t want to lose this.”
Logan moved so he was in front of Finn. He took the red head’s hands and stared at him with determined eyes, “You will never lose this. Okay? This is here to stay, Finn. We are here to stay.”
Logan hoped that Finn also heard the silent ‘I’m here to stay.’
“Do you think you can tell us what’s happening Harz?” Leo asked.
Finn slowly nodded his head. “Phone,” Finn croaked. His voice rough because of his tears.
Logan turned and retrieved it from where it had been previously dropped. The phone lit up and he saw the text from Martin. His heart was about to sink before he saw the start of the text. It was just a text confirming Finn’s contract.
“Oh Finn,” he mumbled.
Tears sprung in Finn’s eyes, but Logan was quick to sooth him, “Non non, it’s ok. You aren’t going anywhere.”
Leo turned slightly with a confused look on his face, so Logan slid the phone over and moved to wrap Finn up in his arms.
“You aren’t leaving baby,” Logan whispered into Finn’s red hair. Logan looked over just in time to see Leo’s face drop.
“Honey…” Leo said while he scooted over to sit next to Finn. Finn shoved his face into Logan’s shoulder and groaned, suddenly embarrassed.
He tentatively looks up,“What was he asking me?”
Leo rubbed Finn’s check, wiping off some of the residual tears. “It was just to confirm your contract.”
Finn covered his face, “I’m an idiot.”
“Non, non. You are not,” Logan said removing the hands covering Finn’s face.
“I just- I saw the name,” Finn mumbled. Leo hummed looking at Finn mess with the strings of Logan’s hoodie. Finn kept his head down and mumbled an apology.
“There is no reason to say sorry Finn-“
Finn cut Leo off, “No no it was dumb,” Finn rubbed at his eyes before lifting his head. “I don’t know why I didn’t read it. God. I don’t know.”
Logan pushed Finn’s hair back and opened up his mouth to speak, but Finn continued talking.
“I ruined our afternoon. You guys shouldn’t have had to do that,” Finn stumbles through his words awkwardly. “I should’ve just read the fucking text.”
“You ruined nothing mon rouge,” Logan said.
“I did though!” Finn replies animatedly. “We were relaxing, and now you have my tears on your shirt.”
Leo chuckled and gently kissed the pouty frown on Finn’s face. “Nothing is ruined. How about,” Leo looks over at Logan and smiles. “we get you a pair of socks and we go and snuggle on the couch.”
Finn nods and his two boys stand and pull him up with them. Finn stands on slightly wobbly legs, but Logan steadies him. Leo bends down picking up the discarded pair of socks Finn dropped. Then they wander back to the living room to continue the movie that was left paused.
