Chapter Text

Elisabeth sat silently in the corner of the waiting room. Her two suitcases in front of her- to guard her? She was exhausted and longed for a bed. And silence around her, inside her. The last weeks were horrific and she had never thought that something like that would happen to her. But it happend and one of the consequences were that she sat in the waiting room of the Claude Koch Sanatorium for two hours now. One would think, there would be no waiting at such a high class facility, but apparently she was wrong. She had tried to read one of the books she brought with her. But the letters didn't form words and after a few minutes she gave up and put it back in the suitcase. "Fräulein von Bernburg?" An older man came through the door and looked around. The other people waiting looked down again. Either they were too exhausted or didn't want to risk looking like a real insane to say something about the waiting. Either way it made the waiting a bit more bearable. "Yes?" "Fräulein von Bernburg, i am Prof. Viktor Hansen. I am very sorry that it took me so long to come you, but a patient needed my survaillance. Please come with me. Your suitcases will be brought to your room." A young man appearred and took both suitcases. "Welcome Fräulein von Bernburg."
Elisabeth followed the doctor down the hall into his burreau. One side was completely covered books and the big windows showed lovely bushes of roses blooming. "If you want to take a walk after dining, the garden is always open for our guests. Even at night." He watched Elisabeth walking to one of the windows. "Your were brought here by your family?" She did not turn around immediately. "Yes,-" Elisabeth avoided to look at him. She felt immensly ashamed again. "My sisters husband." The doctor waited for a few moments. He was used to the patients being ashamed. Her voice was barely audible. "My sister was worried about me. I don't know how she made him drive me here. He rather would not acknowledge me at aĺl." "And your opinion?" "On him?" The Professor nodded his head. "I don't have the best relationship with my sister, but she deserved better." What made her say that? It was not her usual way to open up so quickly, but this Professor radiated a certain warmth. "And do you belong here?" Elisabeth burts into tears, tried to hide them by turning away and managed to nod slightly.
