Chapter Text
Trafalgar Law stood on the deck of his submarine, the Polar Tang, his gaze fixed on the wanted poster of Monkey D. Luffy fluttering in the sea breeze.
The Straw Hat Pirate's exploits were amusing and he smirked at the newspaper every time a new exploite came from the other D. The man seemed to not care about hiding his nature, as he used his kagune in battle just as much as his oddly stretchy limbs.
The bounties on his head reflected the chaos he left in his wake. But Law couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie with the fellow D. no matter how dumb and reckless the other seems.
As the Surgeon of Death, Law had his own reputation to uphold. His crew relied on him not just for leadership but for survival in the treacherous waters they navigated.
And survival, for a ghoul like Law, meant more than just evading Marines and other pirates—it meant feeding the insatiable hunger that gnawed at his insides.
Law's ghoul nature was a closely guarded secret, hidden beneath his human facade. His crewmates knew nothing of his true identity, and Law intended to keep it that way.
The Ope Ope no Mi granted him the power to create his own "Rooms," which he used not only for surgery but for acquiring the sustenance he needed to survive.
It was a delicate balance—one wrong move, and the truth of his ghoul nature could spell disaster for him and his crew. He kept his nature under wraps unlike his fellow d in the paper. If the list of crimes on the wanted poster was accurate.
As Law pondered his next move, a familiar voice interrupted his thoughts. Bepo, the polar bear mink and one of Law's closest companions, approached him with a concerned expression.
"Captain, we've received word of a Marine blockade up ahead," Bepo said, his voice tinged with worry. "They're checking every ship that passes through. What should we do?"
Law's mind raced as he considered their options. A direct confrontation with the Marines would be risky, especially with his true nature at stake. But turning back wasn't an option either—not with the crew depending on him.
"Prepare to dive," Law commanded, his voice firm. "We'll find another route."
With practiced efficiency, Law and his crew sprang into action, maneuvering the Polar Tang beneath the waves to evade the Marine blockade. As they navigated the depths, Law couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in his crew and the bond they shared.
Despite the dangers that lurked around every corner, Law knew that as long as they stood together, they could overcome any obstacle that came their way. And with the spirit of a D burning bright within him, he was determined to carve out his own path in the turbulent seas of the Grand Line.
After successfully evading the Marine blockade, Law retreated to his private quarters aboard the Polar Tang. His room was a sanctuary of sorts, a place where he could let down his guard and attend to his peculiar needs without prying eyes.
Inside the dimly lit chamber, Law sat at a small table, a bowl of hastily prepared food in front of him. His appetite had been growing ever since they set sail, a constant reminder of his ghoul nature. He stared at the meal, a mix of raw meat and vegetables, his hunger clawing at him relentlessly.
Just as Law was about to satisfy his cravings, there was a knock on the door.
"Captain?" Bepo's voice came from the other side, followed by the sound of the door creaking open.
Law quickly composed himself, hiding the true nature of his meal from his crew. "Yes, Bepo? What is it?"
Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin entered cautiously, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity as they saw Law sitting alone.
"We were wondering if everything's alright, Captain," Bepo said, his large eyes scanning the room. "You've been cooped up here for a while."
Law offered them a reassuring smile, though inwardly he was grateful for the interruption. "Everything's fine, just needed some time to plan our next move. Sit down, we need to discuss our options."
Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin exchanged glances but obliged, taking seats around the table.
"We managed to avoid the Marine blockade," Law began, his tone serious. "But we can't let our guard down. We need to stay alert."
As they discussed their next course of action, Law pushed aside his bowl of food, his hunger momentarily forgotten in the midst of strategizing.
However, as the discussion carried on, Law's ghoul instincts began to resurface, his hunger growing stronger with each passing moment. He tried to ignore it, but the scent of the raw meat was too enticing, taunting him from the bowl on the table.
Eventually, Law couldn't resist any longer. With a subtle glance around to ensure no one was watching too closely, he reached for the bowl, intending to quickly satisfy his craving.
But before he could take a bite, Bepo's keen senses picked up something unusual. "Captain, what's in that bowl?" he asked, his nose twitching.
Caught off guard, Law froze, his hand hovering over the bowl of meat. He knew he couldn't come up with a plausible excuse.
Shachi leaned forward, squinting. "Is that... raw meat?"
Penguin's eyes widened in realization. "Wait, don't tell me..."
Law sighed, knowing he couldn't keep the truth from them any longer. With a resigned look, he nodded. "Yes, it is. But there's something you need to know about me..."
As Law prepared to reveal his secret to his crew, he braced himself for their reaction, unsure of how they would take the truth about their captain being a ghoul.
"You all deserve to know," Law began, his voice steady but serious. "I haven't been entirely honest with you."
Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin exchanged puzzled glances, their curiosity piqued. They'd all known Law since they were teens. What could the captain be hiding?
"I am not entirely... human," Law continued, choosing his words carefully. "I am a ghoul."
The revelation hung in the air, followed by a moment of stunned silence. Bepo's eyes widened in surprise, while Shachi and Penguin wore expressions of disbelief.
"A ghoul?" Bepo echoed, his voice barely above a whisper.
Law nodded solemnly. "Yes. My true nature is that of a ghoul. It's why I sometimes disappear for a while, why I have... certain needs."
Shachi leaned back in his seat, trying to process the information. "So, that's why you always eat by yourself..."
Penguin scratched his head, still trying to comprehend. "But how...?"
Law sighed, knowing they would have questions. "It's a long story. But the point is, I've been hiding this from you because... well, because I didn't want you to see me differently."
Bepo shook his head, a mix of shock and understanding in his eyes. "Captain, we're a crew. Whatever you are, it doesn't change a thing. You're still our captain. Even if your a bit…bitey-"
Shachi and Penguin nodded in agreement, expressions softening.
Law felt a weight lift off his shoulders. "Thank you, all of you. I appreciate your understanding."
"But..." Bepo hesitated, "what about the raw meat?"
Law sighed, knowing he couldn't avoid the question. "As a ghoul, I need to consume human flesh to survive. But I've managed to control it, to keep it at bay. Having my devil fruit is quite useful. Taking a few limbs during fights and warping them to my freezer is easier than hunting like I used to.”
His crewmates exchanged glances, processing this new aspect of their captain.
Bepo's eyes widened slightly at Law's explanation, a mixture of surprise and concern evident on his face. "So, that's how you've been managing..."
Shachi scratched his head, still trying to wrap his mind around it. "But isn't it... risky? Using your powers like that?"
Law nodded. "It is. But it's a risk I have to take to keep both myself and all of you safe."
Penguin frowned, his expression thoughtful. "And all this time, we had no idea..."
"I didn't want to burden you with it," Law admitted, his gaze drifting to the wanted poster of Monkey D. Luffy on the wall. "Being a ghoul in this world... it's not easy. People fear what they don't understand. I didn't want that fear to affect our crew."
Bepo placed a reassuring hand on Law's shoulder. "Captain, you've always had our backs. We're here for you, no matter what."
Law offered a small, grateful smile. "Thank you, Bepo."
Shachi leaned forward, a determined look in his eyes. "So, what do we do now?"
"We continue on our journey," Law said, determination creeping into his voice. "Not gonna let the one piece slip away."
Penguin nodded. "Aye, Captain. We'll stick by you, like always."
With their newfound understanding and solidarity, Law's crew reaffirmed their loyalty to him. Despite the revelation of his true nature, their bond remained unbroken.

Days passed, and the Polar Tang continued its journey through the Grand Line, navigating treacherous waters and facing occasional skirmishes. Law found himself grateful for the support of his crew, who stood by him through thick and thin.
One evening, as Law stood on the deck, gazing out at the starlit sea, Bepo approached him, a thoughtful expression on his face.
"Captain," Bepo began, "I've been thinking. Maybe there's a way we can help you with... your needs."
Law raised an eyebrow, curious about what Bepo had in mind. "Go on."
"Well," Bepo continued, "what if we gather information about ships in distress or criminals who pose a threat? We could intercept them, and you could... well, you know."
Law considered the idea. It was risky, but it could provide a solution that minimized their exposure and kept his secret safe. "It's worth exploring," he conceded. "But we have to be careful. We can't draw too much attention to ourselves."
Bepo nodded eagerly. "Understood, Captain. We'll keep it low-key."

The days turned into weeks as Law and his crew implemented their new strategy. Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin worked tirelessly, gathering information about potential targets while Law focused on navigating and planning their interceptions.
Their efforts proved fruitful. With Bepo's keen sense of smell and Shachi's knack for gathering intel, they were able to identify ships in distress, smugglers, and other criminals traversing the Grand Line. Penguin, with his sharp eyesight, kept watch for any suspicious activity on the horizon.
One evening, as they intercepted a smuggling vessel attempting to pass through a narrow strait, Law stood at the helm of the Polar Tang, ready to put their plan into action. His crewmates were poised for the operation, anticipation thrumming through the air.
"Captain," Bepo called from his lookout post, "the target vessel is approaching. They seem to be heavily loaded."
Law nodded, his gaze focused ahead. "Prepare to intercept. Remember, our priority is to disable the ship and apprehend the crew without unnecessary violence."
Bepo relayed the order to Shachi and Penguin, who were waiting at the ready with their weapons.
As the target ship came into view, Law steered the Polar Tang into position with practiced precision. With a series of maneuvers, they closed in on the smuggling vessel, catching them off guard.
"Fire warning shots," Law commanded, his voice steady.
Penguin, manning the cannons, fired a warning shot across the bow of the target ship, signaling their intention to intercept.
On Law's signal, Bepo and Shachi boarded the vessel, swiftly taking control while Law maneuvered the Polar Tang to block any escape routes.
Minutes later, the crew of the smuggling ship surrendered without much resistance, realizing they were outnumbered and outmaneuvered.
As Law and his crew secured the prisoners and confiscated the contraband, a sense of accomplishment washed over them. They had successfully executed their plan without incident, and Law hadn't needed to reveal his ghoul nature.
Back on the Polar Tang, as they sailed away from the intercepted vessel, Bepo approached Law with a satisfied grin. "Captain, that went better than expected!"
As Law and his crew secured the prisoners and confiscated the contraband, Law couldn't shake off the persistent gnawing hunger within him. Despite their success, the sight of the defeated crew reminded him of his insatiable ghoul nature.
As they transferred the prisoners onto the Polar Tang, Law's mind raced with a desperate solution to satiate his hunger without revealing his true nature to his crewmates. He knew he couldn't risk being discovered, but the hunger threatened to consume him from within.
With a calculated calmness, Law approached a few of the enemy crew members, selecting them based on their health and vitality. He knew he had to act quickly and discreetly. With a swift motion, he used his Devil Fruit power to slice through their limbs, incapacitating them without causing fatal injuries.
The crew looked on in shock as Law worked swiftly, his movements precise and clinical. Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin exchanged puzzled glances, but they trusted Law's judgment, assuming he had a plan.
Once he had collected enough flesh, Law carefully stored it in airtight containers, preparing it for freezing. It was a gruesome task, but one he knew he had to do to survive.
As he worked, Law's thoughts were consumed by hunger.
Once the gruesome task was complete, Law stored the containers in the ship's freezer, concealing them among other supplies. He made sure to lock up the freezer, ensuring no one would accidentally discover its contents.
Afterward, he retreated to his quarters, carrying an arm with him. He plopped onto his bed. The gnawing hunger that had been a constant presence was finally being addressed.
As he chewed the flesh, the taste of raw meat filled his mouth, satisfying his hunger as Law stared at the ceiling, lost in thought.
