Chapter Text
His hand was trembling more than he thought it would.
Luigi pulled his hand away from the knob of the front door, flexing and shaking out his fingers before trying again. This time, gripping the doorknob with a firmer hand.
This was it. Today was the day Luigi would finally go on his own solo adventure! He had been planning this for many months having collected plenty of healing mushrooms, sturdy gear, and of course, a map to guide him along the way.
“Of course, you’re my most important item for this journey, lil Mario.” The younger brother held up a plushie of his older brother that he hand-stitched himself. While it was the first time Luigi had attempted such a thing, he thought it turned out all right. And because he used pieces of cloth from clothes Mario had outgrown over the years, or were ruined beyond repair, he liked to think his plushie was more authentic than the ones found in stores.
“Sigh…Mario…” Luigi huffed with a slight frown. His brave, wonderful, dependable older brother was once again on an adventure protecting the Mushroom Kingdom from the likes of evil.
And once again, Luigi was left behind.
“Well, that doesn’t matter now because I’ll be going on my own adventure! I can handle this, right Lil Mario?”
While the plushie didn’t provide an answer, Luigi liked to think the doll’s blue button eyes were staring back at him with pride. The younger brother smiled and nodded in return.
“Alright! Let’sa go!”
Hands now steady, Luigi twisted the knob and pulled open the door, revealing a shining sun and blue skies. A perfect day for exploring somewhere new. Though butterflies were rampaging in his stomach, Luigi faced the day head-on with a smile.
‘I’ll be back soon, big brother!’
