Work Text:
Sometimes summer seems unending
Golden days and silver nights
One long season not pretending
Truly feeling you’re alive
Clouds come rolling, lightning flashes
Summer showers mild and warm
Diamond drops catch in your lashes
While we’re dancing through the storm
Golden summer, golden rain
We'll never be this young again
When every sunrise bears our name
We'll be golden, golden
Dark and dense the cover lingers
Bursting silver at the seams
Beams of light like golden fingers
Combing through our field of dreams
Every raindrop incandescent
Beading on your blushing skin
As your eyes turn opalescent
I just stare and breathe you in
Golden summer, golden rain
We'll never be this young again
When every sunrise bears our name
We'll be golden, golden
Every hour in your presence
Seems to me two hundred years
I would drink your very essence
All your hopes and joys and fears
I cannot imagine any
Timeline where we didn’t meet
This one day amongst so many
Seems to me a life complete
Golden summer, golden rain
We'll never be this young again
When every sunrise bears our name
We'll be golden, golden
