Chapter Text
The winter breeze nipped at your nose as the city lights mimicked the twinkling stars above. The faint hums of vehicles and occasional chatter of late-night pedestrians tickled your ears amidst the cold air's whispers. Your steps continued as you let your feet drag you anywhere. Not that you had to worry, though, because you had a 6’2” goofball walking beside you.
No one was speaking, but it was a comfortable silence. Just you and Ran under the winter night sky, illuminated by the urban scene. Your steps were wide and brisk, but both his and your feet moved in harmony, as if each step were notes making up a masterpiece of a symphony.
“You know,” you started to speak, “I’ve always been told that I walk too fast.” Ran hummed in acknowledgment, turning to you with curiosity. “When I went out with my friends, I would always slow down or stop somewhere because I was way too ahead of them,” you continued, remembering your friends. They didn’t do it on purpose; they just really liked taking their time. That, however, caused you to feel a little lonely on the road ahead.
“But I’m glad I have you to walk with me now. I don’t have to slow down or walk faster. I don’t have to worry about walking ahead of you because you’re always beside me. It’s something so new to me, but I’m so glad it’s you.” You felt your cheeks grow warmer, unconsciously blaming the cold weather. You looked over at your boyfriend to see his cheeks redder than yours. You couldn’t help but smile, feeling a surge of affection for the giant goofball walking beside you, realizing how lucky you were to have a man as special as him.
“Why say that now?” he complained, walking just a little bit faster.
“Hey! I just said I liked it that we were walking together; why are you running ahead?” you teased, jogging to catch up to him. He tried to hide his face but eventually gave up, slowing down to match your pace once more. “Thank you, Ran,” you whispered, letting the words be carried by the wind to his ears.
“You’re so silly,” he giggled as he closed the gap between your sides and slid his fingers into yours.
