The first time Izuku heard the voices he wasn’t sure who was talking to him. At the time he was only three so it couldn’t have been his quirk, he had told his mom about the voices but she dismissed them and told him he was just thinking to himself. She didn’t understand that the voices were different than his.
There were three voices Izuku had heard, the first one he ever heard was high energy and enthusiastic. Izuku wasn’t sure who or what gender the voice was, but his mom had always told him to be polite to other so he replied.
“Heh, kacchan really is the best huh? He can do anything! I hope we turn out like that.” The voice chimed.
‘We?’
Himself, Kacchan, and the other kids of the area were all digging for bugs in the dirt. Getting themselves dirty in the process, but they didn’t care they were just kids being kids. Having fun and oblivious to anything that was going on around them. Kacchan had found the most bugs so far and some of the other kids had found one or two but kacchan was winning by a long shot with a total of six bugs found.
Izuku had yet to find one yet himself but he wasn’t going to give up, that was something Izuku was good at. Not giving up no matter what. So when the voice first appeared he jumped up and flinched hard. The other kids had given him a werid look for the random and sudden reaction but Izuku knew he had heard something, someone.
“Yeah.. I guess kacchan really is the best.” Izuku says while looking around himself trying to find the voice of the person who had spoken to him.
“Who.. are you talking to?” One of the random kids ask him, look at him with a face of both confusion and concern.
“Uhmm… I don’t know.” Izuku truthfully replies. After all he had no reson to lie. Maybe he had just heard something and thought it was a voice, maybe it was himself just thinking like mommy had said, but this voice was different it wasn’t his. So izuku carried on with looking for bugs and the voice did not comeback. Izuku did not find a single bug.
The second time izuku hears a voice it’s a different voice. More sad sounding and seemingly bored. This time izuku had heard it for sure and there was no telling him he wasn’t. He had been in pre school and sitting at a table with a few of his friends, one of them being kacchan. They were drawing their favorite animals and the person with the best drawing won a candy bar.
Izuku had chosen to draw a turtle, a turtle wasn’t his favorite animal but he had to admit he found them very cool and interesting. They would hide into their shells when at danger and were indestructible! Kacchan had called turtles “scaredy-cats” but izuku called them smart. Even though the other kids agree with kacchan, Izuku still liked turtles.
“A turtle? Are you seriously drawing a turtle as you favorite animal.” The voice popped into existence.
Izuku looked around just like last time but didn’t reply. Whoever this voice was they weren’t very nice and they totally weren’t the voice from the first time. His mommy told him if he ever came across a person who was being rude to him she had said to ignore them and tell an adult or teacher, but izuku couldn’t tell on a person he couldn’t see.
Time was up and everyone showed their drawing one by one the second to last being Izuku. He lifted up his paper and proudly showed off his drawing, oddly enough Izuku was good at drawing. He had drawn doodles in the past and loved drawing all might so his drawing was somewhat decent and probably the best drawing yet.
“So what do you guys think!?” Izuku jumps up and down in his chair, he was proud of his drawing and hoped his friends would be too but the silence they gave him had a different impression. His smile starts to fall off his face as he waits impatiently for what they would say.
“Your favorite animal is a turtle? Turtles are so lame..” Kacchan breaks the silence. The rest of the kids follow his lead and start to laugh at Izuku for liking turtles. Izuku’s chubby cheecks turn a light tint of red and they start to burn. He didn’t like this, why were they laughing at him? What was so funny, maybe he just didn’t get the joke.
Lastly is kacchan he wanted to be last because “let’s save the best for last” he quoted. Kacchan turns his drawing around to face the other kids and they all had gasp and smiles, kacchan had drawn a cheetah! It was fairly detailed and the cheetah was drawn good for their age. Unlike the rest of the kids including Izuku, kacchan had colored his drawing in. Most kids color messy but kacchan had drawn in the lines and even had used darker colors as shading. The kids at their table immediately voted for kacchan’s drawing and since practically all of the kids had voted for kacchan’s drawing he had gotten first and got the candy bar.
Izuku unfortunately had gotten no votes which made him in dead last. Izuku had felt a little petty, they really didn’t look at his drawing and just judged him for liking turtle’s because kacchan had.
“Wow that kacchan kid is so stuck up and the rest of the are just followers, am I right?” The bored voice came back with insults. Even though he didn’t wanna admit it the voice was right, he softly nodded his head with frustrated eyes.
A turtle and Cheetah, last place and first place. Izuku and Katsuki were opposites.
The last and finals voice Izuku was introduced to he was almost four. Him and kacchan were having a sleepover like they usually did, because they were almost four they started to think and guess what quirks they would get. Kacchan had wanted a flashy quirk while izuku wanted a useful quirk. He didn’t really care for the flashiness like kacchan did but more of its usability. Kacchan called him boring.
“My quirk has to be the best, because I am the best!” Kacchan booms. Izuku looked to kacchan with a smile and shine in his eyes, kacchan always glowed under the spotlight. Izuku wonder if he could do the same.
“When I get my quirk I want it too be helpful that way I can be the number one hero!” Izuku then followed after what kacchan had said. It’s was only fair if kacchan got a good quirk, Izuku had to get a good one too.
“Uhmm Izuku.. I’m going to be the number one hero.” Kacchan turns to Izuku with a blank expression on his face. Kacchan was usually a very expressive person so this surprised Izuku.
“Yeah.. but we got to fight for the number one spot kacchan, you just give it up to someone.” Izuku pouts. Why did kacchan not want to cheer for Izuku but izuku cheers for him.
“Haha.. you wouldn’t be able to give it up because I would be number one. I’m the best at everything and your the worst at everything, how could we possibly fight for the spot. I’d obviously win!” Kacchan smiles but his eyes are still expressionless. Why did kacchan not want Izuku to fight for number one?
“Because he’s threatened by you, if he really didn’t care he wouldn’t have drilled it into your head about being number one. Your just as good as him and he doesn’t like that, what a bitch.” A random voice snarls to him. Again, Izuku looks around himself but doesn’t see a person who could’ve said that. Nobody ever had talked down on kacchan so this was new. The voice seem to have rage on every corner and seemed to hate kacchan, that was werid.
Why was kacchan threatened by him?
The voices started to regularly come by every so often with little comments or sometimes whole sentences to say. He didn’t want to be rude and ignore them so he started to reply to the voice, only when he was only though because when he did in public people called him crazy and looked at him weirdly.
Soon he learned the names of the voices. The high energy and fun one was named Jack Midoriya, which was werid because Izuku’s family name was also Midoriya and he knew he didn’t have any siblings. The bored and sarcastic one was named Mikumo Akatani but the voice just said to call him Yamikumo. The last voice was also named Izuku Midoriya. Which he was really creeped out by. They settled on calling the mean voice Just Zuzu, which at first Zuzu didn’t like but quickly got over it.
These new voices were Izuku friends but not like the other kids because they supported him and didn’t laugh at him when embarrassed. Jack, Yamikumo, and Zuzu were almost like Izuku but different in the little things. Which lead to one question and another. Why couldn’t he see them? They didn’t have an answer ether apparently they were just as confused as he was.
It was weird but but Izuku was glad to have friends always by his side, no matter what.
The first time Izuku saw the voices were on three different occasions. The voices had been with him for a while now and he was four years old now. Both him and kacchan have yet to get their quirks but some kids they knew had already gotten theirs. Izuku was at home and eating dinner with his mom when he heard Jack talk to him.
“That looks so good! Our mom always makes the best food!” Izuku wonder why he referred to his mom as “our mom” the first time he did it Izuku passed it off but now he started to wonder if they were the same person.
“Yeah it’s taste good too.” Izuku whispered. He already tried explaining to his mom about the voice many times but she would just get worried. Nobody seemed to hear the voices he heard so he had given up on trying to convince people what he heard was real.
“We eat it everyday, at this point it just boring” Zuzu then popped in the conversation. Which wasn’t a surprise, Zuzu wasn’t very nice to anyone and Izuku was getting used to it.
“Why you always gotta be so rude Zuzu? You should be great full that you get dinner some kids don’t.” From the way Jack had said it, he knew he was pouting.
“I don’t really give a dam-“ “can y’all shut up?!” Yamikumo interrupts Zuzu while cussing. Izuku always found their antics funny, Yamikumo was usually the more responsible one. Which Izuku found even more funny because Yamikumo seemed more like the type to not care about anyone and anything.
Sometimes Yamikumo showed more emotion than just a “whatever” or a “I don’t care” but Izuku knew those moments were rare. After Izuku got done eating his dinner, his mom had told him to go and wash up for bed time so Izuku went to the bathroom and that’s when he saw him.
In the mirror he saw a boy that looked like his exact age. With solid black shinny hair and dark green eyes (darker than his) the boy was pouting and had his left hand on his cheek. Leaning his weight on the side with his arm up.
Izuku gasped and stumbled back into the wall. He wasn’t expecting to see… wait who was this?
“Wh- who are you?!” He asks frantically looking around himself too see the person in the mirror but no one was next to him. The boy look liked him but.. slightly different. The proportions looked the same as his and and had his freakels and eye shape but something about him other than the hair and eyes was off.
The boy in the mirror looks to him with a bored expression and then smiles with a big smile and showing his teeth. The boy chuckles and immediately Izuku knows that voice.
“Jack?!”
“Yesh.. Izu im surprised you didn’t notice me right away… makes me feel kinda sad..” All while saying this Jack is still smiling meaning that he’s being sarcastic. At then end of his sentence he puffs out his cheeks and frowns. Izu was a nickname the three of them came up with but only Jack seemed to be using it.
“W-what are you d-doing here? I thought you were only a voice!” Izuku leans close to the reflection and Jack doesn’t follow his moves. He try’s other movements but Jack stays in the same position he was in the whole time.
“Ahh.. yeah no. I’m not really sure myself but I’ve always been here just not visible. I guess you can only see me in your reflection.. which kinda sucks.” Jack pouts while dragging the “s” in “sucks”.
“Uhm.. ok..” Izuku was kinda confused, if he was always there than why was he just now seeing him. There were plenty of times where he talked to them while looking at his reflection. So why now? There had to be something that was keep him from seeing them earlier and-
“Jeez Izu~ its not that deep..anyways you should probably start brushing you teeth, mom will wonder what we’re doing in here for so long.” Jack snaps him out of his thoughts. Was he mumbling? That was embarrassing, Jack didn’t seem to mind though.
“Oh right! Thanks for reminding me.” Izuku quickly starts brushing his teeth and washing his face, after that he starts to strips but stops. “Can you uhh..” Izuku trails off and the tip of his ears turn red.
“Yup!” Jack turns around and starts to hum.
When izuku is done with his shower got puts in pajamas on and goes to his room where he gets in bed and makes himself comfortable. His mom comes in and tells him and bedtime story and Izuku falls asleep.
Izuku is falling he doesn’t remember why or when but he knows he is falling. Bad dreams are starting to happen to him, sometimes his dreams come true. Sometimes they don’t. Once he hits the ground he stays there for a while, surprisingly it didn’t hurt at all. He looks around to see a hospital in front of him.
Izuku walks into the hospital wearily, the hallway lights flicker and sounds of dripping water and creaking pipes is all he hears. As he walks slowly down the hall he sees a room that is glowing brightly. Creaking the door open to peak Inside, he sees his mom crying? Why is she crying? People cry when they are sad so why is his mom sad?
“Mom! Mom! Wa-what’s wrong?” Izuku rushes though the door and goes to hug his mom but slips right through her. “Wa? Mom?” He waves his hands through her but the only phase through her as well.
“Izuku I’m sorry!” His mom cries. Her hands no her face and crying into them.
There’s an empty blue stool in front of her, why was that their? Izuku had so many questions. This was weird. There was a old man in front of his mom with green glasses and a white trench coat. Could he be a doctor? This was a hospital, was it?
“Mom? C-can you see me?” He tries one last time to get his mother to hear his but she just continues to cry on loop. Izuku steps out the from and walks out of the hospital.
‘Maybe there’s something I’m not getting.’ He thinks to himself. Looking around it’s all just pitch black like a void, but Izuku keeps walking in hopes for something else. Suddenly an picture appears into his vision and Izuku runs straight towards it.
Izuku pc,s up the photo and looks at it. It’s a photo of and bone? Looks like a hand or a foot. Nothing seems out of the ordinary with the photo. It’s definitely an X-ray of someone’s bones.
‘Hmmm… what could this mean?’ Then a crashing sound comes booming into the void and the hospital in the distance starts to collapse.
“Wha-“ Izuku gets cut off by the ground underneath him starts to split and break. Izuku falls, Again.
“Hey.. HEY! Ar-are you alright?” I front of him is Yamikumo, he can tell by the voice. With slightly longer dark raven purple hair and a scarlet eye. His hair is covering the left eye. His skin is paler then Jack and his making his freakels stand out even more.
“Wa-what happened?” Why was Yamikumo asking if he was alright? Of course he was alright. Did something happen while he was asleep?
“You were having a nightmare.. do you get those often?” Yamikumo asks and he seems to be a bit uncomfortable. He isn’t the kind to care so this was new to him, but one thing he did care about was Izuku.
“N-no not really.. wait.. I can see you!” Yamikumo’s one eye goes wide, then returns to the normal shape.
“Oh…Uh.. yeah.” Yamikumo is the lest talkative of the three so he is naturally socially awkward. “You should start getting ready for pre school, you’ll be late.” Yamikumo dead pans.
Izuku turns his head toward his clock, pre school doesn’t start till an hour so he has time but not a lot.
The same day Izuku goes to preschool and meets up with kacchan and the other kids. They were already playing hero’s vs villains, Izuku was a little sad that they started without him (they never started without kacchan) but he didn’t want to overreact or be petty.
“Oh hey Izuku! We were just starting. Which team do you wanna be on?” A random kid asks. Izuku had never seen that kid before, maybe he had just moved here? How did he know his name, it didn’t matter.
“A hero!” Izuku chimes. Obviously he wanted to be a hero.
“But we need a hostage.” Kacchan interrupts.
“We’ve played without hostages before though..” Izuku says. Why did kacchan always want Izuku to play the most useless role each time they played?
“Yeah well your pretty much useless so you get to be the hostage!” Kacchan smirks and turns to walk off but Izuku isn’t going to be a door mat for him.
“Your just as useless as me though… you don’t even have your quirk yet!” Izuku yells, ok maybe that was a mistake. Sure, kacchan was amazing but he wasn’t on a throne. They were the same age, and they both didn’t have their quirks yet so if Izuku was useless what was kacchan?
Kacchan slowly turns towards Izuku with rage bubbling in his eyes, his back was arched and his hands were in fist. Kacchan was the type to hit you if you so disagreed with him so Izuku probably hit him where it hurts. The other kids around were beginning to get quite and back off, even the ones with their quirks were bowing down to kacchan’s feet. Well not Izuku, not anymore.
“What did you say? ILL GET MY QUIRK BEFORE YOU AND IT WILL BE THE BEST QUIRK HERE?!” Kacchan screams and Izuku flinches back. Before Izuku could apologize kacchan had already begun running at him at him. He punches Izuku in the check before doing it again and Izuku falls back on the ground.
Then he feels heat, like burning heat. Kacchan’s hands begin to spark and light begins to emerge from them. Suddenly an tiny explosion erupts from his hand and everyone stops. Kacchan eyes go wide and all the previous anger that was there before was gone.
“I-I GOT MY QUIRK!!” Kacchan screams at the top of his lungs and a bright wide smile shows on his face with twinkles in his eyes. All of the kids around the crowd kacchan as he starts more tiny explosions. They all jump up and down and congratulate kacchan for getting his quirk and ask him questions.
“WOAH THATS SO COOL!”
“WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?!”
“HOW DID YOU ACTIVATE IT?!”
Everyone is so focused on kacchan’s new quirk that they forget about Izuku who is crying on the ground with a bruised check. He sniffles but no one seems to care about him. Why would they? It was always about kacchan…
“Hey?” Izuku turns to the voice he knows as Zuzu when he sees a boy his aged hold out a hand with a concerned but angry face. Light lavender purple hair and almost white eyes.
“Zuzu?”
“Yeah.. that’s me. I told you that kid was a meanie. Literally everyone here is!” Zuzu helps Izuku oof the ground and Izuku dusts himself off the dirt on him.
“Yeah.. t-thank y-you…”
“No problem! Now, let’s get out of here these kids obviously aren’t your friends.”
“Mmhh!”
Zuzu and Izuku walk off and not a single adult or kid spear him a second glance. Starting today Izuku knew where everyone’s priorities were.
