“Oh my god,” Kai gasped, clutching his — er, Nya’s — stomach with his — her — hands. Body switching was so unnecessarily confusing. “How do you — ugh — deal with this?”
Nya, in his own body (which, yes, was very weird to look at), offered a sympathetic smile. “Years of practice?”
“I think I’m dying,” he groaned, curling into a ball on the wood floor that he’d sunk to long ago. “Everything hurts and I am dying .”
“Moving around helps.”
“Nya. If I move. I will land in a grave.”
His entire body felt like it was being crushed , his stomach churning in a godawful pain that was entirely indescribable. How did women do this every month? It was awful !
“Lemme get you a heating pad,” Nya said, leaving Kai on the floor to wallow in his misery.
To his utter horror and embarrassment, there were tears forming in his eyes.
The front door slammed suddenly, and Kai jumped, a wave of pain weighing him down again.
“I’m hooome!” Jay yelled from another room. “And my parents sent cookies back with meee!”
Footsteps trod up to him, and from Kai’s fetal position on the floor, he could only assume it was Jay.
“Nya?” He asked, dropping to his knees. “Hey, baby, are you okay?”
“Cool… eurgh, your jets, buddy,” he grumbled, “‘m not… Nya.”
“Jay! Oh, there was sorttt of a whole body swapping… thing. We’re figuring it out.” Nya said, re-emerging with a blessed heating pad that Kai immediately clutched to his stomach.
“How did that happen?”
“I don’ wanna talk abou’ it,” Kai groaned.
“It’s a long and… embarrassing story,” Nya affirmed. “I’ll tell you later.” She said, just above a whisper and probably, in her mind, something Kai couldn’t hear.
“Okay… so what’s wrong with N-uh, Kai?”
“He’s on his period.”
This level of pain. Literally deserved hospitalization. He couldn’t remember a single injury in his years of being a ninja that had ever even come close .
Why , oh why, had women been cursed with this horrible bodily function? There was blood coming out of his body from places it shouldn’t have been !
“You’ll be okay, dude. It’s usually just the first day that’s that awful!” Jay supplied, sounding far too upbeat.
“When was the last time you even had one?” Kai grumbled, “didn’t you transition before we even fuckin’ met?”
“Oh Kai. The memory of that pain never goes away!” He said cheerily.
“I’m gonna kill myself,” Kai whined.
“Not in my body you’re not,” Nya snapped. “I’ll cut your perfect hair if you damage that.”
“I’m not the one doing the damage! It’s the.. uter-whatever!”
“…the uterus?”
