Chapter Text
If you told Phillip a couple months ago that taking missiles off the books was going to cause such a pain in his ass he would have laughed in your face, after all he was mother fucking Phillip Graves. He and his company would stop at nothing to get a job well done, hell he hand picked the finest of soldiers to be in his company. He would be damned if something like that went sideways.
Course now that the missiles are lost he knows better, but that's not going to stop him or his company. At the moment he was working with a Britt, a Scott's man, and the Mexican special forces to recover the missiles they had lost. Obviously the others were not aware of the reason as to why or how the missiles were lost. That would look bad on him and his company along with the general. It wasn't important it would be unnecessary for them to know anyway, it wouldn't come to that.
Graves was currently aiding said Britt, Scot, and special forces from the skies, shooting down a bridge to stop from enemy reinforcements from getting to them. Graves instructed his shadows diligently to take out the bridge and the army with it.
The Britt's, Ghost's, voice rang through his com's "Got a vehicle for exfill."
He responded by telling him about Hassan's possible location not to far from their current position.
The Scott, Soap, replied "Let's wrap this fucker Graves."
He liked that kids spirt glad to be working with mostly competent soldiers. They then moved to the next objective, while doing so Graves barked out orders to his men. Notifying them that the soldiers on the ground were now one of them and required their full effort in aid. He also noted to Shepard the general that he bailed the boys below out of trouble.
Graves and the ground team worked together till the ground team secured Hassan. They fought some more before successfully getting him back to the base for a friendly little interrogation.
As they interrogated Hassan they got nothing from shit out of him. Wanting to keep the true reasons for the missiles quiet and make dealing with them easier Shepard requested he be in permanent custody or dead in the grass. To which Laswell reminded them it was a war caribe and the couldn't do that legally yet. Which made Graves frustrated
"Actual let me finish this"
Shepard explained that wasn't possible and Laswell was correct and they needed to let Hassan go. Even though Graves didn't like this one bit he understood the consequences so he let it go for the moment.
Soap spoke up "He's right here. You can't be serious."
Graves looked at Soap then at Ghost before looking Soap again, glancing over him. He liked that the kid was as frustrated as him, he had to admit that Soap had spunk. He was up and ready to go, ready to get the fucking job done. Graves could certainly appreciate a hothead like Soap who has earned every right to be one.
The next information on the missiles came from Hassan's phone and did not currently require them at the moment, so him and his boys went to back to his base. He figured Soap and Ghost would go with Alejandro to his base for stand by.
Graves kept in touch with Soap and Ghost not too far away from Alejandro's base in Las Almas.
Soon enough him and his boys were needed again after the events in Urzikstan and Laswell getting kidnapped. They learned they needed to find El Sin Nomber the cartel leader helping Hassan. Once they figured out where El Sin Nombre was at that night they gathered near the penthouse location.
Currently they were discussing how to get in and capture the drug lord. Alejandro explained the meeting was about them and what they had done in recent events.
Graves spoke up for reassurance this should be smooth in and out. "Then we should take it. Hell Ive got enough shadows to take over the country."
Alejandro gave him a disapproving look. "I'd prefer if you didn't."
That was a buzzkill, god paranoid much Graves thought. "I'm just saying a little house should be no problem.".
Ghost spoke up roughly and firmly. "We need sin nombre alive"
Graves returned "Well... then we need to meet him."
Soap spokes up curiously "How?"
Graves spoke up again "Intel... they wanna know who's here let's tell them." He looked at Alejandro firmly.
Alejandro spoke quizitively "In person?"
Graves smirked "Correct, get one of us inside, find the boss and roll him up."
Soap spoke up "I'll do it."
Graves was surprised but expected no less from a man like Soap. He smirked at the younger man slightly proud.
Alejandro spoke "You go in there and they'll kill you hermano." He said as a matter of fact.
Soap replied "I'll take my chances. We came for a missile so let's stop it! I'll offer intel for a meet with sin nombre. And if he's there we pounce."
Damn did he like this kid, Graves was starting to like Soap more and more. He'd be a great addition to his company that's for damn sure. The spunk that came with him was just what Graves looked for.
Alejandro spoke up going with Soap while Ghost took over watch.
Graves spoke up and looked at Soap. "Roger that, they are gonna want proof... show me this." Graves handed Soap his shadow patch. Soap took it their fingers brushing against each other. Graves smirked and the fist bumped and Graves patted Soaps shoulder firmly and slightly affectionately.
He spoke again his words now more directed at Soap more than the other two. "Call me when you need me."
They got to work Soap going in and Alejandro meeting him inside. Graves waited in the skies for when he was needed it took around hour four them to capture El Sin Nombre. Graves instructed his soldier to fly the helicopter and intercept El Sin Nombre. Once secured everyone loaded up and headed back to Alejandro's base for an interrogation.
They got Valeria in a shipping crate and started the interrogation learning that Alejandro knew her and that she left the army to become the drug lord. They also learned where one more of the missiles were, on an oil rig. That got them set for their next mission.
They finished up with Valeria and left to recuperate and plan their attack to get that missile. Graves walked over to Soap for a chat.
"You did well out there, Great work." Graves smirked.
"I could sa' the same to you Graves" Soap replied his Scottish accent thick in his words.
"You know we could always use men like you Soap." Graves suggested confidently. "Not everyday you come across a soldier like you who has spunk and a little disrespect."
Soap gave him a slightly surprised look "I appreciate it Graves but the 141 are my team."
Graves patted his shoulder touching along his arm. "I figured you say that, offer always stands.... Think about it after we wrap this missile shit up."
Soap smiled fist bumping him. "I'll keep you in mind."
"That's all I ask." Graves smirked getting ever so slightly flirtatious. "Course you'll be dream'n about me... if you think too hard about it."
Soap let out a chuckle "You fucken’ wish."
Graves smacked Soaps ass lightly. "I'm just messing around.... Get ready to gear up soon"
Soap laughed and walked off, getting ready for their soon to be boat ride.
Graves smirked to himself the feeling of Soaps firm ass cheek lingering on his hand. This was bad he really did like that soldier.
Graves walked back to his men when one spoke up. “Like the Scott’s man huh commander?”
Graves chuckled light heartedly “He’s definitely something wouldn’t mind a hotheaded thing like him to join the team.”
The shadow nodded agreeing with his commander. Then Graves walked away to go over plans for their boat ride.
