Work Text:

Jeonghan was trying to calm his nerves as one of his groomsmen helped him with his makeup. He was breathing deeply, trying to push away negative thoughts. He just wanted to focus on the happily ever after that awaited him. He thought of his fiancé, Joshua, who must also be preparing for the moment they had both been looking forward to so much. He was anxious to see him, excited to walk down the aisle to the altar together.

When he could finally see himself in the mirror, a smile appeared on his face. He didn't know if it was the magic of the moment, but he felt more beautiful than usual, as if all the happiness he felt made him glow. He thanked his grooomsmen, who came out after congratulating him on the wedding.

He wiped his sweaty hands with a towel before picking up the suit he would wear at the ceremony. They had spent months choosing the perfect suit; nothing seemed to meet their expectations until they decided to have it customized. The designer captured every detail on a sheet of her worn notebook, and when she showed them the design, they knew immediately that it was the suit they had been looking for.

He picked up the satin shirt with trembling hands, fearful of damaging the elegant black suit. Carefully, he fastened each button and put on the pants, adjusting the belt. He regretted deciding to dress himself when he saw the tie on the mannequin. Joshua always helped him with the knots, as he had never managed to learn how to tie them properly.

After several failed attempts, he resigned herself and was about to leave the room to ask for help when he felt a pair of hands on his hips and a delicate kiss on his neck. Looking in the mirror, he saw the person who made his heart beat uncontrollably, as if he were still in high school. They weren't supposed to see each other until the ceremony. Jeonghan turned to face the person he loved and hand him the tie. He felt how, without difficulty, the tie was adjusted to his neck and received help to put on his jacket and fix some details of his hair.

-I love you, Jeonghan.

Jeonghan reciprocated the sentiment with a delicate kiss.

.

Moments earlier, Joshua was in another room admiring his reflection in the mirror. Jeonghan was right; white looked good on him. His thoughts turned to his fiancé; he felt like his heart might leap out of his chest at the thought that in a few minutes he might call him his husband. Jeonghan could be nothing but an angel. From the first moment he saw him laughing in one of the school hallways, he knew she had to get close to him and be more than friends. He didn't know if she was exaggerating, but he felt that an invisible red thread really did bind them together.

With a big smile and warmth in his heart, he decided to go to the room where Jeonghan was getting ready. They had agreed not to see each other until the ceremony, but he knew Jeonghan was probably having trouble with the tie and couldn't resist the temptation to see him.

Arriving at the room, he frowned as he saw the door ajar. He decided to look through the crack before entering, just to make sure it was appropriate to do so. The smile was wiped off his face as he saw Jeonghan standing next to another man. Some annoyance came as he noticed that the man was Choi Seungcheol, one of Jeonghan's best friends since high school. Joshua tried to remain calm, although he had always had doubts about Seungcheol, who seemed to have a strange closeness with Jeonghan, as if he was waiting for any mistake on Joshua's part to approach him.

He decided to stay for a few moments to be sure. He didn't distrust his future husband, but he did distrust Seungcheol.

—I love you, Jeonghan —he heard Choi say.

Joshua clenched his hands into fists at the sides of his body. He had not been wrong about Seungcheol's intentions. He waited to hear Jeonghan's rejection, but felt his blood boil as he watched them kiss.

He quickly retreated from the scene, not wanting to see more. He couldn't believe he had been betrayed like that just before their wedding.

Their wedding.

His thoughts became clearer. He was the one who was going to marry Jeonghan, who had his heart and all his love, not Seungcheol. The scene he saw had probably been just a slip. The memory of the kiss made his head ache with anger.

Without realizing it, he reached the room where the beautiful five-tiered white cake they had had made at their favorite bakery was located. Each tier was elaborately decorated, and the figure of them on the top step was particularly impressive. Without much thought, he picked up the knife that rested on a tray next to the cake and lunged at it. He couldn't believe that a simple kiss had made him so angry, but he didn't like them touching what was his, especially someone like Seungcheol, who had always been lurking around.

He was very wrong if he thought he could keep his Jeonghan.

When he regained consciousness, he was horrified to see the mess he had made. The cake was completely smashed and red cream stained the entire room, including his white suit, which he tried to clean up without much success. He glanced at the watch on his wrist, surprised to see that they should soon be behind the doors that would open to announce their arrival.

He was unaware of the moment he arrived in Jeonghan's room, but he was greeted with a smile. Although Jeonghan also had red cream stains on his suit, he couldn't help but hug him. It didn't matter if both suits were ruined; they could still look their best. He took Jeonghan's hand and, before heading to where they were supposed to be, took one last look around the room. Seungcheol, whose suit was also stained with cream, was giving them a look of disdain.

Without worrying about anything else, he dragged Jeonghan to the door which was currently closed. He looked at his watch one last time. It was one minute before they announced his entrance. He felt his hands shaking, so he tightened his grip on Jeonghan's neck with his right hand and held the knife with his left.

—Let's give a round of applause for the grooms!

The doors opened after those words. The wave of applause that greeted them soon turned to terrified shouts and exclamations of surprise. Joshua was proud of the reaction; they surely looked spectacular walking down the aisle together, though he had to make an extra effort to keep Jeonghan's pace. Joshua couldn't stop smiling, he even let out a few giggles that he couldn't contain.

When they reached the altar, he let go of Jeonghan. His arm ached from the effort of dragging him up and down the aisle. He also dropped the knife, the impact of which on the floor created an echo that filled the silence.

The guests, still in shock, couldn't utter a word. Without a doubt, it had been an unprecedented entrance. The grooms had talked endlessly about how unique their entrance and walk down the aisle would be. They didn't disappoint. No one expected to see Joshua, in a sleek white suit stained red and a knife in hand, dragging Jeonghan's probably lifeless body down the aisle, leaving a trail of blood glistening on the spot.

From the altar, Joshua bowed to the guests.

—I always knew our wedding would stand out from the rest —Joshua said, seeing that the priest was in the same state of shock as the guests—. Just like I always knew we would live happily ever after, even after death. Thank you for attending our wedding.

After those words, Joshua picked up the knife from the floor and, seconds later, collapsed next to Jeonghan. He smiled blissfully as he died next to the person he loved the most.

In the end, their wedding had been as unique as he had hoped, an event to seal their love that no one would forget for a long time.
