Work Text:
Katsuki looked at the clock with anticipation. It was hitting 9am, an hour past his usual 8pm bedtime. He didn't wanna go upstairs alone and he certainly didn't want to go to bed alone. He hadn't gone to bed alone in the past two months. Whenever it hit 8, Izuku would go with him.
Even when Izuku wasn't tired, he would sit in the room with Katsuki while he slept. Even when Izuku stayed up until early morning, he stayed in Katsuki's room. That way they would sleep next to each other every night.
It helped them sleep better. After everything they've been through, they couldn't imagine being separated, even during the nighttime.
Katsuki wouldn't go to bed without Izuku and Izuku wouldn't go to bed without Katsuki. That's what worked best for them.
Katsuki sat there on the couch at the opposite side of the common room. He watched as Izuku talked on and on to Iida, Uraraka and Todoroki. They weren't the only ones still up but they were the only ones in the common room area.
“Hey Deku, are you getting ready for bed?” Katsuki asked in a grumble. Hoping Izuku would say yes so they could head off to bed. He was feeling exhausted already.
Izuku didn't hear him the first time he called out. So he waited a moment more before calling out to him once again.
“Hey Deku!” He yelled a bit louder, finally catching the attention of the other man. Izuku turned away and smiled at Katsuki.
“Yes Kacchan?” He asked questionably. He wasn't aware of the time. If he had known what time it was then he would drop everything to get Katsuki to bed. It was something that had started to make him feel a little guilty inside.
There had been a few times where Izuku dropped everything to head to bed when Katsuki was feeling too tired. The last time it happened, Izuku was having a conversation with AllMight. Katsuki hadn't known and called him to ask when he was coming to the dorms.
–
“Hello? Hi Kacchan, is something wrong?” He had spoken so sweetly to Katsuki as he always did.
“Izukuuu when are you going head over? I'm feeling exhausted.” He dragged out Izuku's name in such a way that somehow sent Izuku running out the room.
“I'm on my way, Kacchan!” He exclaimed over the phone before hanging up. “I have to go AllMight, sorry!”
It took two minutes before Izuku was in the dorms, OFA flowing through his body. He had used it to get to the dorms faster. “I'm here baby. Let's get you to bed.”
“Wait, were you busy?” Katsuki had asked him but Izuku shook his head.
“No, I was just talking to AllMight about OFA.” Izuku purred as he immediately latched on to Katsuki who was laying down.
Katsuki laid there dumbfounded before turning to face Izuku. “That sounds rather important to me, idiot!
Izuku gave a laugh and pressed a kiss on Katsuki's cheek. “Nothing’s more important than Kacchan. I would drop everything for you.”
–
The memory of the events made Katsuki feel even more guilty. He really didn't realize the extent Izuku would go to ‘drop’ things just because Katsuki wanted something or needed him.
“Are you going to get ready for bed soon?” He asked once more, shifting on the couch.
Izuku thought for a moment before he shook his head. “Ah, not right now, are you tired?” Izuku asked but was met with Katsuki shaking his head no. “Then I'll head to bed soon!” He turned back towards Iida, continuing their conversation.
“Oh great.” Katsuki muttered, a frown coming to his face. It was obvious Izuku didn't know what time it was but he wouldn't tell Izuku he was tired. There was no hope that he would be getting to bed soon if Izuku didn't know he was tired.
Despite wanting to go to bed, he decided to stay there a little longer since Izuku said he would be heading to bed soon.
Before Katsuki knew it, it was hitting 10:20pm. He had busied himself with his phone to keep himself awake but it had died on him ten minutes ago, leaving him bored.
His red eyes found their way on Izuku, who was still talking. Katsuki didn't even know what they were talking about at this point. Last time he paid attention to their conversation they were talking about class work.
Quietly, Katsuki got off the couch and headed upstairs to Izuku's room. He didn't go up to go to sleep. Heck no. They never slept in Izuku's room. It was too ‘creepy’ — in Katsuki's words— with all those AllMight figurines and posters watching them sleep.
Katsuki went in to change into something more comfortable. He stripped himself of his clothes before putting on one of Izuku's large white shirts that had a giant ‘M’ in the middle of it. It was an AllMight themed shirt. Katsuki knew since he had the same one back at his parents home.
Katsuki put on Izuku's large shirt and nothing else. It went down to his upper thighs so he was covered enough in his eyes.
On his way out the room, he snatched up one of Izuku's ‘dumb’ looking AllMight plushies he kept stacking in the corner of his room. “Still creepy.” He huffed as he left the room feeling sluggish.
When he got back downstairs, he was disappointed to see Izuku was still talking. He figured he would notice him gone and go upstairs to Katsuki's room to find him. Katsuki took his seat back down on the couch and spent the next thirty minutes watching Izuku talk with his friends.
Tiredness grew heavy on Katsuki with each passing minute. As much as he wanted to fall asleep, he couldn't. He couldn't fall asleep until he was comfortably in Izuku's arms.
He had his eyes glued to the TV, not really focused on what was playing. His mind drifted off elsewhere and imagined that feeling of Izuku's warm body against his own. The sound of footsteps caused Katsuki to snap his head towards Izuku.Todoroki and the other two were heading off into the kitchen but Izuku stayed on the couch.
“Izuku?” Katsuki said softly, getting Izuku's attention immediately. Izuku's eyes lingered on him for a moment, scanning up and down his body before snapping right back to his face. A blush forming on his cheeks.
“Yes babydoll?” He got up and walked over to Katsuki. He crouched down and placed a gentle kiss on the top of his forehead. “Is something wrong?” He asked.
“No, not really.” He lied. He just couldn't bring himself to tell Izuku he was tired. It felt silly but he was enjoying his time talking with the others and Katsuki didn't wanna ruin that.
“I see you went and got ready for bed. It's close to 8 isn't it? Let me know when it gets there so we can head to bed.” Izuku messed around with Katsuki hair while he spoke.
Katsuki almost wanted to laugh at that but instead he nodded. How did Izuku think it was still that early? It had been three hours since 8pm. The outside world was silent other than the usual night bugs.
He shrugged it off as Iida and the others came back out with a few snacks in hand. Late night snacking? That wasn't good for them but Katsuki was too tired to even try complaining about it. “I'll take you up to bed soon, Kacchan.” Izuku pressed his lips against Katsuki's own before returning back to the others.
The way Izuku smiled and easily got back into conversation just made him wanna wait longer. He would wait until Izuku was finished talking before heading up to bed.
That “soon” was proven to be a lie after another two hours passed. Katsuki had completely lost track of time. Well, not like he had it after 10. His phone had been dead the past three hours. The TV was off, long turned off when Katsuki got bored of everything.
He laid on the couch, holding Izuku's AllMight plushie to his body and cuddling it. His eyes were heavy and his body was stagnant. It had been a good thirty minutes since he last moved. Feeling far too tired to even try such a thing.
He had completely tuned out the chatter of the others awhile ago. Finally, after what felt like forever, his eyes finally shut. It felt as if he was just taking a rather long blink. He closed his eyes for what felt like minutes but sleep still never came for him.
His eyes flickered to Izuku before they flickered back down to the AllMight plushie. Noticing its face towards him, he let out a tired grunt and forced it the other way.
“I think it's time we head to bed now. It's later than I realized, I take full responsibility for any tiredness come morning.” Iida said as he checked his phone, now noticing how late it was.
“It's not too late is it? I'm sure we won't be too tired.” Izuku spoke dismissively, still unaware of the time.
“It's nearly two in the morning, Deku.” Uraraka showed Izuku the time on her phone. Izuku felt his heart nearly drop into his stomach when he saw the time.
“Oh wow it is! We stayed up rather late. Let's go and get plenty of rest!” Izuku rubbed the scars on his arms. “Goodnight everyone.” Izuku waved everyone goodnight.
Once they had gotten out of his sight, his head snapped towards Katsuki. “Oh baby. I'm so sorry.” He began immediately apologizing. He hadn't been paying attention to the time or Katsuki. Getting a closer look, he could really see how tired Katsuki was.
“Izuku. . .” Katsuki murmured, fighting between sleeping and staying awake.
“Why didn't you tell me it was getting so late? You're missing so much sleep princess.” Izuku moved his arms around Katsuki and lifted him up. Katsuki's legs immediately wrapped around Izuku's waist so he wouldn't fall over.
“You were having a nice conversation. I didn't wanna pull you away.” Katsuki admitted, dropping his head down on Izuku's shoulder. His voice was soft and sounded almost childlike. Izuku couldn't help but awe at him.
Izuku held Katsuki close and used black whip to turn off all the lights. “I wish you still would have told me. You're so cute when you're tired baby.” He peppered kisses on Katsuki’s shoulder, neck and side of his head where he could reach.
Katsuki didn't respond back to Izuku for he had fallen asleep the moment he was comfortable in Izuku's arms. That's all it took sometimes. The feeling of Izuku's rough, scarred hands holding his body never failed to haul him off to sleep.
“My sleepy, pretty baby.” Izuku cooed as he carried his Kacchan upstairs and to Katsuki's bedroom. When he tried to lay Katsuki down, he only gripped at him and wouldn't let him go.
It took a few minutes of trying to pry Katsuki off before he finally got Katsuki down on the bed. With a triumph noise, Izuku carefully took the AllMight plushie from Katsuki and threw him on the other side of the room. “Sorry AllMight.” He whispered before crawling behind Katsuki.
He wrapped his arm around Katsuki’s waist, pulling him in until his back was against his chest. “Goodnight, princess.” Izuku kissed the back of Katsuki's neck a few times while he slept.
It took a few minutes for Izuku to fall asleep. His hands had gotten a little curious and explored Katsuki's body until he felt satisfied enough to stop. He cuddled in close with Katsuki and finally found himself drifting off to sleep.
As he drifted off to sleep, he hoped they didn't have anything too important to do in the morning. He knew if he woke Katsuki up when he was still tired then they would have to deal with a grumpy Katsuki. A grump Katsuki wasn't something he would wanna risk having.
