Chapter Text
Caitlyn walked through the halls of her college campus. It was a small school, yet it educated so many students.
“Caitlyn you should hang out with us!” Called a girl with braided hair and dark skin.
The blue haired young woman smiled as she made her way towards her. “Oh I fear that I can’t Mel. I have an exam to study for.” She replied.
“All you ever do is work and study. Come on hang out with us.” Jayce persuaded.
“Once again I will have to decline. My mother said it’s important I pass these classes. There hasn’t been a member of my family that failed college and I don’t intend to be the first.” Caitlyn told them.
Jayce rolled his eyes. “Your loss. Have fun though.”
Caitlyn nodded and made her way outside. She found a nice shady tree and sat under it. Taking out her things, she began to read her notes for her class.
“But that reminds me now Anactoria. She’s not here and I’d rather see her lovely step,” a voice spoke.
Caitlyn looked up from her studies and turned to see a woman reading from a book. She was muscular, short reddish-pink hair that was slicked back and hands wrapped in bandages. “Sappho.”
“You know her?” The stranger asked, her blueish-gray gaze lighting up.
“Her sparkling glance and her face then gaze on all the troops in Lydia in their chariots and glittering armor.” Caitlyn stated, finishing the poem.
The stranger grinned. “Impressive. Didn’t know that Sappho was so well loved by the silver spooned students of this university.” She teased.
Caitlyn blushed a little. “I appreciate a good poet. She just talks about…” she looked around before finishing her sentence. “The subject of women loving women so intimately. Not that it disgusts me but she’s so bold with how it’s told.”
“But that’s why she deserves appreciation isn’t it? I think there’s nothing to be ashamed of about boldness like that.” The stranger said.
“Vi there you are! Come on we’re going to be late!” A large young man said. He had goggles atop his head and looked as big as her, broad shoulders and all.
“Alright Claggor. I was just reading.” Vi said. She turned to Caitlyn. “By the way, I’m interested to engage in more of our Sappho discussion. Come by my room?”
Caitlyn was stunned. “W-well…” she muttered reluctantly.
“Whatever girl talk you’ll have I promise I won’t be there.” Claggor said with a smile.
“Yes. I’d delight in conversing more with you.” Caitlyn answered, playing with a strand of her hair.
Vi smiled. “See you soon.” She told her with a wink, getting up with her book and her bag as she walked off with the young man.

The pair laughed and talked in Vi’s room.
“You cannot be serious.” Caitlyn said in the middle of a giggle.
“I am. I beat that miserable moron with a plank of wood. He was trying to steal from me and my family. I wasn’t going to let myself be a victim of theft. Especially theft done by a shit thief.” Vi said, a scowl forming on her lips. She just finished telling a story about the time her father’s bar nearly got robbed.
“You’re a lot stronger than most women. I’m surprised to be honest.” Caitlyn said.
The pink haired woman raised a brow. “Why is it so surprising? Don’t see too many rugged third years?” She teased.
“I’m only in my second year here. College is harder than I anticipated to be honest, and so many students on such a small campus is quite a shock.” Caitlyn admitted sheepishly.
“You’re an aristocrat aren’t you? Just pay your way through school with your massive wealth.” Vi suggested, half-jokingly of course.
Caitlyn suddenly a bit angry. “That’s not the way I want to do it. I don’t want to get by with my Kiramman wealth. I want to get by with my knowledge and my knowledge alone in my second year.” She remarked passionately.
This left Vi stunned. “I like people who work hard. Drive like that is admirable.” She praised, gently patting her knee.
“Thank you. That warms my heart to know.” The blue haired woman hummed.
“So what do you want to do after college?” Vi asked, tilting her head as she laid on her bed on her side.
Caitlyn looked almost annoyed. “To get the hell away from my mother some more. That’s mostly why I’m in dormitory university right now.” She huffed.
Vi let out an amused chuckle. “Your mother sounds like a devil.” She commented.
“I’d rather be raised by a devil. Overbearing and obsessed with my future. More than usual. I have to be proper at all times and not cause trouble like a ‘proper lady’ ugh…” Caitlyn explained doing finger-quotes at the words proper lady.
“But what do you want to do job wise?” Vi wondered.
Caitlyn looked thoughtful now, as she crossed her leg and adjusted her skirt. “Deal with the injustices of the world I suppose. This world is filled with…so much of it.”
“Striking down those who hurt others? Like a true warrior indeed.” Vi praised with a kind smile.
Caitlyn had never felt so much warmth. Her heart began to beat. “I’m flattered. Truly.”
The pair continued to talk. They were deep into the conversation about many things as the day wore on.
