Work Text:
With his helmet in his hands, after having gotten off his bike, Cloud sighed to himself. He couldn’t believe he was really going to visit Sephiroth at his workplace specifically to have sex in his office.
Around an hour before, a little before dinner time, he’d received a text from his partner, reading: “I’ll be working late tonight”. Nothing new or extraordinary, of course, except that was not the end of the message, which continued with: “Would you like to keep me some company?”. Cloud had read that part picturing what Sephiroth’s exact voice and expression would be while saying something of that sort; even leaving out the fact that it was Sephiroth, and thus there couldn’t not be a hidden meaning, there was no doubt what that question meant – they had talked about doing something like this less than a couple of months before, and they had agreed that they might try it, if an occasion ever presented itself. It all depended on Cloud’s answer.
Cloud said yes. He texted back: “Ok, give me some time”, and about forty-five minutes later he was in front of the building where Sephiroth worked.
He almost felt like a criminal, leaving his bike in the semi-deserted parking lot and walking towards a place that was clearly not open to the public at that moment. The main entrance was accessible, and the hallways were lit, but he did not encounter a single person inside. When he got to the right floor as instructed by Sephiroth, however, he merely had to ring the bell to have all his doubts swept away in an instant: Sephiroth’s voice answering with a simple “Yes?”, soft and low even through the intercom, was enough to make Cloud feel electrified.
«Special delivery,» he joked in a flat tone. He immediately added: «It’s me,» though, to make sure that Sephiroth recognised him.
«Come in,» the other said, his voice betraying a smile, and a small mechanic click indicated that the opaque glass door had unlocked.
Cloud had to walk through a couple of other doors and short hallways (was there a reason for that place to be so maze-like?) before he found Sephiroth’s office. Since he didn’t know – or, rather, understand – much about Sephiroth’s job, Cloud had always imagined one huge room filled with desks, but it turned out it was a lot more sophisticated than that. It made sense that Sephiroth had his own office that he didn’t share with anyone else, considering that he was head… or director of… something. He was in a high position.
Sephiroth, who had likely gotten up as soon as he had heard the sound of footsteps echoing in the hallway, welcomed him at the door.
«“Special delivery”?» was the first thing he said, a mocking smile already plastered on his face.
But Cloud didn’t let it bother him, and ignored the malicious implication hidden in Sephiroth’s amusement. Instead, he raised the paper bag he was carrying.
«I brought you dinner.»
Sephiroth’s eyes widened: evidently, he was caught off guard by the thoughtful gesture.
«I picked it up on the way here. I thought that it would be better if we ate something here, so we can just go to bed when we go home. And, I mean. You must be hungry.»
«This is very kind of you,» Sephiroth said, leaning down to kiss Cloud on the cheek while he took the bag from his hand. «So that’s why you’re so late? I was beginning to think that you had ditched me.»
«I’m not that horrible.»
«But you would be capable of forgetting to tell me if you changed your mind for whatever reason. Or simply falling asleep on the sofa.»
Cloud opened his mouth to retort. He wanted to argue that he wasn’t that careless, but all things considered he wasn’t that convinced that Sephiroth was wrong.
«Are you going to leave the door open?» he asked instead. In the meantime he’d taken off his leather jacket, he’d walked inside the office, and he’d noticed that Sephiroth, despite being still near the door, hadn’t touched it yet.
Sephiroth arched one eyebrow. «There’s glass walls, Cloud. I don’t believe it makes any difference. Besides, as promised, I made sure that there’s no-one else here.»
Since Cloud kept staring at him with his lips pressed together, though, he sighed and closed the door.
«Better now?» he said then, walking over to the desk to place the paper bag on it and then finally approaching Cloud slowly, almost tentatively.
Cloud, on the other hand, didn’t hesitate to slide his arms around his partner’s shoulders. «Yeah. Thanks.»
«You’re very sweet today.» Sephiroth placed his hands on Cloud’s hips, and he pressed another kiss on his cheek. «Don’t tell me you’ve missed me this much? Were you happy to receive my message?»
Cloud didn’t answer.
«Or perhaps you’re excited by the thought of being fucked here in my office?» Sephiroth continued, this time moving his lips closer to Cloud’s ear and lowering his voice into a whisper.
«Ngh—» In reality, all of those things were true. And it wouldn’t even have been that gruelling to admit it, if it wasn’t for the fact that it was so clear and so annoying that Sephiroth, as always, was making fun of him. «If you have to be such an asshole, I can stop being kind right now.»
«Oh, that wouldn’t be a problem,» Sephiroth retorted with a smile, gently pushing Cloud backwards until his lower back bumped against the desk. «As much as I’d love to take things slowly, I can only allow myself a quick break.»
Cloud swallowed slowly, gaze laced with Sephiroth’s, but he nodded. They hadn’t mentioned it explicitly, but even he had been able to grasp, the first time they’d talked about it, that “quick break” implied that there couldn’t be slow and sweet lovemaking.
«Don’t you… Don’t you want to eat first?» he said then, with a glance at the paper bag which had been abandoned on the desk, hoping that an abrupt change of topic would be enough to cool down his cheeks.
Sephiroth, however, didn’t seem willing to help with that.
«I can eat while I’m working,» he replied, a mischievous smile slowly curving his lips. «To you, on the other hand, I want to give my full, undivided attention.»
Cloud swallowed again, in silence. Until that moment, he hadn’t paid attention to the part of his mind that was gawking at how handsome Sephiroth looked, but now that he was towering over him, eyes glistening with desire, it was impossible not to stare. He hadn’t taken off his computer glasses, which were the most obvious novelty, and complimented his gaze in a way that Cloud couldn’t have attempted to describe without turning red; then, the alluring little details of his tie loosened, the first two buttons of the shirt undone, and his hair tied in a slightly dishevelled low ponytail completed the elegant look of his work attire, comprising a simple white shirt, a dark tie, and dark trousers.
«Shall we?» Sephiroth whispered, and Cloud barely remembered to nod in response since he immediately tilted his chin upwards to join their lips in a kiss.
As he pulled Sephiroth closer, and Sephiroth began to calmly explore his torso with both his hands, Cloud felt his heartbeat accelerate. He didn’t want to admit that he’d been waiting for this – if he thought rationally about it, having sex on the job (it didn’t matter whether his or his partner’s) wasn’t exactly something he had on his bucket list, but when Sephiroth had promised that he would have made sure there were no risks to be found out, that it would count as a perfectly reasonable small break from work, and that it could be fun, just the two of them, in that nice office with a big desk and a comfortable chair, trying to keep their voices down even though there was nobody around…
To be completely honest, the one thing that had convinced Cloud had been when Sephiroth, almost jokingly, had put his hand on Cloud’s mouth while saying something along the lines of “I’ll have to do something about you, though, you’re a little loud”: it had been so sudden, so unexpected, and despite the mocking tone Sephiroth’s voice sounded so seductive, while his fingers pressed hard against Cloud’s lips and then softened their grip, that for at least a week Cloud hadn’t been able to stop imagining Sephiroth doing that while he was bent over his office desk. He had no idea why such a simple gesture had left such a strong impression on him, but it had, and he’d never been one for musing too much on things; the only thing he was certain of was that he was dying to try it.
«How do you want to do this?» Sephiroth asked in a murmur, causing Cloud to startle. «Since we have to be quick, we can either—»
«I’ve already prepared myself,» Cloud interrupted him, and Sephiroth froze on the spot.
«Oh,» he said then, after a few seconds. It was rare to see him so astonished.
«I thought that we wouldn’t have time here,» Cloud continued. «That’s… also part of the reason why I was late.»
He had lowered his gaze while he spoke, out of that veil of shyness that he couldn’t get rid of, but as soon as he was done talking he raised his eyes again and found out that Sephiroth had quickly gotten over his surprise, and was smiling down at him with an expression that showed that he could barely contain his excitement.
«Oh, Cloud…» he went, tightening the grip he had on Cloud’s body, with one hand on his side and the other on his lower back. «Just how enthusiastic were you about this…?»
Cloud glanced away with a huff. «Didn’t we say we have to make it quick?»
Sephiroth chuckled at that weak attempt to escape his question; the answer was more than easy to guess, in any case.
«I love it when you’re this eager,» he said, leaning down to nibble at Cloud’s ear. «I won’t make you wait any longer, then.»
And he immediately complied: he grabbed Cloud’s waist with force and made him turn around, then he took Cloud’s hands and placed them on the desk, pressing them under his own and forcing him to bend forward.
Cloud had to hold his breath. After being with Sephiroth for so long, he should have gotten used to his ways, and yet, every time, every sudden gesture came as a surprise. It was as if he could never be prepared, not even when he knew what was coming: Sephiroth always took his breath away. But it wasn’t just a matter of unexpectedness, no; everything that Sephiroth did made Cloud’s head spin – feeling his hands touching him, his breath hovering over his skin, his kisses savouring, worshipping every inch of him, and his whole body, so much bigger than his own, pressed against him.
Without moving away from the position Sephiroth had placed him in, Cloud arched his back with a sigh, searching for more contact, and Sephiroth’s answer was to grab him by his hips again and pull him closer.
«Do you like this, Cloud?» he whispered into his ear, and Cloud nodded vigorously.
Without any further ado, Sephiroth unbuttoned and unzipped Cloud’s trousers, pulled them down together with his underwear, and then, judging by the sounds, he moved to his own belt.
«Ah, shit,» Cloud cursed under his breath, all of a sudden. «I left the lube and condoms in my jacket, it’s over there on the chair—»
«There’s no need.» This time, it was Sephiroth’s turn to make an unexpected interruption. «I have everything here with me.»
«Why do you keep that in your office?» Cloud blurted out, furrowing his brow.
«Don’t be silly, I had them in my briefcase, of course. I put them in my pocket while I was waiting for you.»
«Still, why would you have that in your briefcase…»
He wanted to make a joke about Sephiroth seeing someone else behind his back, but he refrained, because he already knew how that conversation would go: Sephiroth would ask him if he was jealous, and he would answer that he had no reason to, since Sephiroth was so clingy and constantly all over him. Even just imagining Sephiroth cheating on him was impossible.
«Let’s say…» Sephiroth murmured, pausing for a second to lick the back of Cloud’s neck, «that ever since our little chat last time, I’ve started to come to work “prepared”. Just in case.»
«Huh.» It wasn’t easy to act smug with his pants pulled down, but a snort still escaped from Cloud’s lips curled into a half-smirk. «Who’s the one being eager now?»
«Well, of course I am. Nearly every day when I’m here I dream of having you on top of this desk, or sitting on my lap. I was the one who suggested trying this in the first place, wasn’t I? But you…»
«Ngh—»
Cloud felt the tip of a cold, wet finger slowly working its way inside of him, soon joined by a second one without causing him the slightest discomfort; even though he’d said he had already taken care of that part, Sephiroth was rightfully making sure that he was fully ready. It hadn’t come unexpected, since he’d heard the familiar sound of the bottle of lube being opened, but he couldn’t hold back a small noise anyway.
«You don’t let me see this side of yourself often, do you?» Sephiroth continued, his voice as soft as silk next to Cloud’s ear. «You usually like playing hard to get… And I love it, oh, how I love it when you try to oppose me, it makes it all the more satisfying to make you mine. But I also love it when you’re more… straightforward. When you want me so much that you don’t even try to hide it, you’re so filled with desire that you abandon yourself completely…»
At that point, Cloud was barely listening to what his partner was saying, not because he didn’t want to (when it came to seducing through words, Sephiroth was nothing less than hypnotising), but because he had a hard time focusing when his voice and his touch were more than enough to send him crazy. He was breathing heavily, and he was using all his strength to support himself with his arms not to lie down on the desk. Weren’t they supposed to do this quickly? Why was it taking so long…
«Do you want me, Cloud?» he heard distinctly, all of a sudden, since Sephiroth had whispered it directly into his ear.
«Yes—!» he gasped, every muscle of his body trembling with impatience.
Instead of the relief he was hoping for, he felt Sephiroth’s hands leave his body, and then the complete absence of their touch for a few frustratingly long seconds.
«Say it.»
Sephiroth’s hands were on him again, but only for a few moments: they moved away as soon as they put a condom on him, without indulging any longer than necessary, leaving him aching for more.
«I want you,» he begged.
«Say it again,» Sephiroth insisted, but this time his voice came out somewhat fatigued, as if he was struggling with something.
«I want you!» Cloud panted, eyes squeezed shut and hands curling into fists. «I want you, Sephiroth, I w—»
Sephiroth entered him slowly, and Cloud let out a soft moan. He arched his back to raise his hips, and everything went so smoothly that he was finally able to relax the tense muscles of his arms and shoulders with a long sigh.
«How are you feeling?» Sephiroth murmured with a loving kiss on his ear.
«Good, yeah, I’m good.»
It was hard to form coherent thoughts in that moment, let alone put them into words. Cloud rolled his hips, in an attempt to communicate what he wanted. He expected Sephiroth to chuckle (for some reason, he found many of the things Cloud did extremely amusing, even in that sort of situation), but he didn’t hear anything; instead, his partner breathed in slowly and nibbled his earlobe.
«Good,» he said simply, before he began moving.
Cloud sighed with relief, and as they picked up the pace he couldn’t hold back a few moans. He couldn’t believe that he was really in Sephiroth’s office, bent over his desk just like he had imagined, and he was enjoying it that much. Sephiroth was panting softly against his skin, while he kissed the back and the side of his neck, up to his jaw; the burning feeling of his fingers digging into his sides was as sweet as the one pooling at the pit of his stomach, and he soon allowed himself to get lost among all those sensations.
He still hadn’t moved his hands from where Sephiroth had placed them, so he lowered himself on his forearms to give his shoulders some rest. Sephiroth immediately followed him, to be able to keep kissing him, and when his chest pressed against his back from above Cloud’s breath hitched. Not that he had a lot of time to take that in, though, since at that point one of Sephiroth’s hands left his waist to slither under his shirt and caress his body with a touch so hungry and so adoring that it made him move his hips with more determination, almost desperately.
What was even better was that Sephiroth was in the same mood. He was talking a lot less than usual, which was probably the biggest hint, and instead of dictating the rhythm he was following it. Of course, part of the reason why he was keeping a fast pace was because, as they had already agreed, they didn’t have a lot of time, but it was clear he was also enjoying himself from how fierce his thrusts were. Hearing him moan under his breath in that uncontrolled manner was unbearably arousing for Cloud.
«Se… Sephiroth…» he called. He was panting heavily, and his moans were growing louder. Sephiroth’s kisses were sloppy, and rarer, now, almost as if he was having a hard time keeping up – but his mouth was so close to Cloud’s ear, his breath so hot against his skin, it was all so good, oh, so good…
A hand suddenly pressed against his mouth. Cloud opened his eyes wide.
«You’re a little too loud, Cloud,» said Sephiroth in a whisper. «What are we going to do if someone hears you?»
Despite the breathless voice, he sounded like he was smiling: he wasn’t being imposing, he was amused. He was trying hard – and succeeding flawlessly in it – to sound seductive, sure, but it was very different from the spontaneous gestures he made or the words he said for his own enjoyment.
Was… was he doing it for Cloud? Did he remember (did he notice?) that he’d liked it, that time when they were discussing the idea? Cloud knew just how much Sephiroth liked hearing his voice while they were making love, which was the reason why they didn’t play often with gagging and such. Did Sephiroth make a mental note to try it in that precise situation, just because Cloud had held his breath during his first light-hearted attempt?
Knowing Sephiroth, and how observant he was, the answer was probably yes; none of that mattered, though, because now Sephiroth’s fingers were firmly keeping his lips sealed and muffling the sounds he was making, and Cloud’s thoughts shut down, his mind focusing only on the pleasure.
Sephiroth fastened the pace, holding tight onto Cloud’s hip with his free hand as he thrust inside him with force. Cloud could feel his own climax approaching, and he was ready to abandon himself to it, but Sephiroth grabbed his erection and squeezed lightly to force him to hold back a little longer, just a little longer…
«Cloud… Nnh, Cloud—»
Cloud came with a stifled moan, and he kept whimpering as his orgasm was accompanied by Sephiroth’s last few thrusts, before he came as well. Tightly wrapped between Sephiroth’s arms, Cloud was shivering, relishing in the blissful feeling that was coursing through his whole body.
For a good while, neither of them moved, too busy breathing in and out to do anything else; Sephiroth, however, nuzzled his nose in the crook of Cloud’s neck, letting go of his mouth and using both his arms to hug him with tenderness. This seemed to help a lot with calming him down, and, as a consequence, Cloud’s heartbeat slowed its pace as well.
Sephiroth took in a deep breath and released it against Cloud’s skin, before placing the gentlest of kisses right where his lips were. Then, with careful motions, he let go of Cloud, pulled out of him, and began taking care of the most tedious part: tidying up. He reached for a small plastic bag lying on his desk, which Cloud hadn’t noticed until now, and he used it to throw away the used condoms, their wrappers, and the wet wipes he used for cleaning up. It didn’t take long, luckily, and as soon as he was done he leaned down to press a kiss in-between Cloud’s shoulder blades.
Cloud was still in a daze. He followed Sephiroth’s movements with an empty gaze, and only when he received that kiss he realised that it was about time he pulled his pants back up. He got up, and even before he got to buttoning his trousers he was hit, all at once, with the discomfort of having strained his muscles in that position for a relatively long time. He stretched his arms and his back, making a very satisfied noise.
When he turned around, Sephiroth was smiling softly at him. Cloud’s heart skipped a beat; he pressed his lips together, and after a moment of hesitation he took a step forward and landed between Sephiroth’s arms, head sinking into his chest.
Sephiroth let out a warm chuckle, petting Cloud’s hair with one hand, then, “Come with me,” he whispered, and he took Cloud’s hand to guide him to the other side of the desk; there, he sat down in his office chair, and patted his own knees with a smile. Cloud sat on his lap, straddling him, in order to be able to hug him comfortably.
«I’m sorry,» Sephiroth said, sliding the chair closer to the desk and giving Cloud’s back a few soothing strokes, «I have to get back to work now. Can you be patient for a little while? I promise I’ll give you all the attention you want when we get home.»
«It’s ok,» Cloud murmured. It was disappointing to hear Sephiroth’s fingers typing on the keyboard when those hands would be much more useful (or at least more appreciated, for sure) on his back, or in his hair, but he understood that working was the reason Sephiroth was there in the first place.
This made him remember something: the paper bag with the food that he’d bought on his way there. He turned his head to search for it with his eyes, stretched out one arm to grab it, and brought it closer to the two of them; then he took out one of the sandwiches that were inside, unwrapped it, and fed it to Sephiroth. His partner only spared a quick glance at it, before taking a small bite.
«Thank you,» he said with a smile. Cloud was sure that he hadn’t added his usual mocking “how sweet of you” only because he was focusing on his work.
They shared the sandwich, and then ate the second one together as well, since holding one sandwich at a time was obviously easier for Cloud. They mostly ate in silence, and only when he got offered a sip from a bottle of water Sephiroth spoke again.
«You know, you can go home, if you want. I appreciate you keeping me company, but you don’t have to stay if you’re bored. I’m almost done, anyway.»
Cloud chugged down some water himself, before putting the bottle down on the desk and hugging Sephiroth tightly.
«I’m a grown man, I can deal with being bored for a little while,» he said simply, hiding his face in his own arms, wrapped around the other man’s shoulders, and Sephiroth chuckled.
After some time, during which Cloud kept giving Sephiroth a sip of water from time to time and playing with his hair, the typing came to a halt, leaving its place only to mouse clicking sounds.
«You know,» Sephiroth went, all of a sudden, «it’s funny that when I told you to be quiet the sounds you were making actually got louder.»
It was the first time he spoke in more than half an hour, and that was what he wanted to talk about? Just like that, without notice?
«Hey—»
«What was the purpose of it, if it didn’t work?»
«You already know that,» Cloud huffed. He liked having Sephiroth’s hands on him, that was all.
Sephiroth hummed. «I liked it. I was expecting to enjoy your attempts at lowering your voice, but I got to hear you loud and clear, in the end. In fact, not even me trying to keep your voice down worked. It was unexpectedly more fun than I anticipated.»
He was snickering to himself – because of course he was making fun of him – and Cloud pulled a strand of his hair in retaliation, although lightly enough for Sephiroth not to get mad (a stronger, meaner kind of hair pulling was for when they were actually bickering, and right now Cloud was feeling too relaxed to take that direction). This way, however, it was incapable of making Sephiroth drop his attitude.
«Would you like to do it again, someday?» he continued, and Cloud moved away from him specifically to shoot a judgmental look at him.
«You’re already asking me that?» he groaned. «Listen, trying it once is one thing, but it’s still something that… We shouldn’t make a habit of it.»
Sephiroth momentarily took his eyes off the computer screen to smile mischievously at him. «It was good, though, wasn’t it?»
«I mean, yeah, it was good.» Cloud shrugged. «Very good, I mean. Not in my top five, though.»
«You have a top five?»
Sephiroth was looking at him with surprise and excitement sparkling in his eyes, now. Cloud remained impassive.
«No.»
Sephiroth squinted at him with a grin, and Cloud pretended not to see it.
«So it’s a “pass”, then?» Sephiroth asked then, going back to work.
Cloud let out a sigh, and went back to nuzzling his nose in his partner’s neck. «Sephiroth… We literally just finished, why are you already making other plans? Let me breathe.»
«Fine, fine, I get it.» Sephiroth ran his hand along Cloud’s back a few times, petting him lovingly. «I just wanted to see how much you really liked it. Because I liked it a lot.»
«I told you I liked it too.»
«Did it meet your expectations?»
If it hadn’t been for the calmness with which he was asking, it would have almost seemed like all that insistence was due to him being insecure, and worried of having disappointed his lover. Luckily, their many years together allowed Cloud to know that, rather than as a performance evaluation, Sephiroth saw the answers to all those questions as a mere exchange of opinions. Simply put, he really, really liked talking about how the experience had been for the both of them, and it was actually a healthy exercise for Cloud, who, on the contrary, wasn’t keen on putting his feelings into words and voicing them. Not something he enjoyed, but he realised it was good for him.
Cloud was tracing abstract figures on Sephiroth’s shoulder with the tip of his finger. «Yes. It was pretty much like I imagined it.»
«That’s good to hear. I mean, it seemed to me like you were really looking forward to this.»
«Will you stop teasing me?» Cloud snorted, hitting him lightly.
Sephiroth laughed softly again. He was particularly cheerful that night. «Hmm, sorry, but it’s too much fun. It’s endearing that you still get flustered like when we first started dating.»
«I’m not flustered.»
«Right.»
Cloud pulled away and glared at Sephiroth, who, in response, squinted affectionately at him. Eyebrows still scrunched, Cloud kissed him on the lips.
«Mmh— Wait,» Sephiroth said then, suddenly breaking the kiss that he himself had deepened and turning once again towards the computer screen. «I’m almost done, I promise, just a little more patience and we can go home.»
«Yeah, and then you’ll fall asleep as soon as you hit the bed,» Cloud joked with a half-smirk.
But Sephiroth wasn’t bothered one bit.
«Why, Cloud, don’t tell me you want more?» he replied instead with a pleased smile. «All you have to do is ask, and I’ll give you everything you desire.»
«Nah, it’s fine.» Cloud leaned the side of his head on Sephiroth’s shoulder, closing his eyes. «I mean, I don’t care. We’re both tired, we’ll see.»
«We’ll see…» Sephiroth repeated, almost musing to himself. «In any case, I want to keep you close, make up for how quickly we had to end things here. I’ll hold you in my arms all night long.»
He turned his head to give Cloud a little kiss on the forehead; it was so gentle, and Sephiroth’s lips lingered with so much tenderness, that a warm feeling spread inside of Cloud’s chest. His lips spontaneously curled into a smile.
«You’d better,» he muttered, hugging Sephiroth tighter.
Most of the times, when they used the phrase “we’ll see”, they ended up going at least another round, and unless they came home irreparably exhausted it was most likely what was going to happen that night as well; in that moment, however, Cloud truly didn’t care about the outcome, as long as he could feel Sephiroth close to himself. Just imagining fresh blankets covering them as they embraced each other in their soft bed was enough to make him sigh.
