Work Text:

And when Bakugo stopped receiving text messages for Ami he was worried. He texted even tried calling to not even the ring tone playing.
‘Sorry but the person you are trying to contact can’t be reached by this number’
Bakugo threw his phone toward his bed.
“Kat, do you have a moment?” He turned to see his mom in the doorway.
“What do you want?” He said sitting on his bed, his leg shaking involuntarily. To be worried about Ami and then his mother speaking in such a serious tone put him on edge.
She cleared her throat, stepping into the room.
“It’s about Izuku…” SHe met his eyes, her hands placed in front of her.
“what ? why would I care.” He said, raising his voice at his mom. But she didn't yell back or hit him over the head for being disrespectful. He was taken aback by her lack of action and response. So he waited for her to speak again, her eyes drifting back to the floor.
“He's in the hospital.” Katsuki’s eyes went wide and stood up.
His mind started running.
“He tried…” She placed a hand over her mouth and couldn't finish her sentence. But Katsuki didn't need her because he already knew where this was going.
“What hospital?” His mom looked up at him reaching a hand out to touch his face. He swiped her hand away.
“What hospital?!” He shouted but Mistuki saw more than anger. She put her hand down.
“*******” Without another word Katsuki ran out of the room grabbing his phone.
His mind raised as he rained through the streets. ‘Is it my fault?’ ‘I saw he was fine.’ ‘Why did he do it?’
No matter what he thought could've been the reason or why Izuku did it, he placed himself at the center for the blame. It was his fault Izuku was a target. He encouraged it, they all did.
When he made it to the hospital he asked for his room and at first they didn't let him.
“Please I just need to see him.” He wasn't shouting but he was pleading tears building in his eyes threatening to fall.
“I’m sorry only family is allowed in and his mother has already told us she wants no one disturbing them.” The lady kept pushing him off and he didn't know what to do. He barely knew why he was there pushing to see the kid he bullied so far he wanted to take his own life.
“Let him come up.” They both turned their heads to see Inko wrapped in a blanket standing by the elevator.
The nurse nodded and let him pass.
“I knew you would come.” He couldn't look at her. He was ashamed and had no words to give her.
“I’m sorry.” SHe softly pulled him into a hug and he let her. A few
moments passed and he wrapped his arms around her.
“Sorry doesn't fix open wounds. But;” She pulled back to look at him. “It does start the healing process.” She wiped the tear that threatened to fall and smiled at him.
“Come on. I’m sure he’ll be happy to have a friend visit.” He bit on his cheek because they weren't friends. He was his bully, someone that drove him to this. He swallowed dryly and walked with her to his room.
He stopped right at the entrance. Seeing him laying in that bed. Tubes surrounding him, barely able to see his face.
“It’s ok. Come in when you're ready.”
He nodded his head and slowly walked into the room. Inko guided him to a chair next to his bed.
“I’ll leave you two alone for a moment.” She went to leave the room. “Oh and he left a note on his phone to give it to you. So here.” HE accepted the phone from her hands and she left, closing the door. He placed the phone on the bed and looked at Izuku laying there. Not being able to find the words. He hesitated before grabbing his hand gently.
“Remember when we were kids and we would play heroes. You were always my side kick. But you never seemed to mind as long as we were playing together.” Katsuki felt himself choke on the words when they came out. ‘As long as we were playing together.’ “I-I’m sorry.” His eyes were dry but his heart cried as it seeped in the sight that was before him of his childhood best friend. “De- Izuku i’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” He placed his head on the bed holding his hand tight. When he felt a squeeze back he looked up. But no other movement was made and Izuku was still unconscious. “He saw the phone on the bed he placed after Inko left. He slowly let go of Izuku’s hand and picked up the phone. It had no password so he opened it and saw folds of notifications. He glanced at Izuku unconscious form ‘why would he want me to have this?" Then he saw it. ‘Kudo’ At the top of the notifications he saw his nickname. The one… Ami gave him. He dropped the phone standing and looking over Izuku. He went to reach out and touch his hand again but pulled back quickly.
‘He did this. He did this to someone he cared about. Someone he claimed to love.’ He shuffled back feeling like he was gonna vomit. In the process he knocked over the chair. He turned around gripping the front of his chest. He was having trouble breathing. He ran over to the small bathroom connected to the room. And was dry heaving.
“Dear… Oh Katsuki are you alright?” She ran over to him kneeling next to him, rubbing his back.
“Auntie, I'm so sorry.” This time tears flooded his eyes and ran down his face. She didn't speak and rubbed circles on his back.
He got up and walked over to Izuku’s bed. Hearing the soft rain that made a soft sound out of the hospital.
“I’m sorry Izuku. I’m sorry, ami.” He whispered softly, bringing his forehead to Izuku’s. “I never hated you Izuku.” He lifted his head and grabbed his hand. Bringing it to his lips. “I loved you Ami.”
Then the beeping sounds flooded his ears and he didn’t let go of his hand till he wasn't able to hold it any longer. It was always ok when they were together. Right, Izuku?
