Chapter Text

Why, Why, WHY are they taking so long?!

Oliver angrily thought to himself as he sat on the swing. This had to be the 17th time this happened in a row, he'd be outside as soon as possible to play with his friends only for them to not come, much to his displeasure. His "friends" would try to make up some excuse but now he knows the game too well. They don't really value or care about him, but its hard for him to leave the other guys. Did they dislike him because often times he'd come looking like a girl? well its not his fault his twin would do that! (besides its kinda fun), he never did anything wrong according to his knowledge. Yet, he always feels he's ignored with his so-called buddies making fun of him behind his back. He wanted to cry, but he couldn't as they'd make fun of him more.

He swung on the swing, all gloomy and upset. The swing was on a tree on the top a hill which was situated at the end of the neighbourhood. It was beautiful and peaceful up there, and pretty quiet. Little nine-year-old Oliver felt lonely, no, more lonely than lonely. There was nobody he could talk to, to share his grief and he felt absolutely miserable. He felt his eyes tear up and he tried to blink it away but they ended up streaming down his face. He was looking down on the ground, a tear occasionally falling on the grass. He hadn't expected another person to be there, so he was surprised when he heard the voice of a girl speaking up.

"What are you doing here?"

Oliver curiously looked up to see a tan-skinned girl in front of him. It took him a second to realize who it was. It was the rich neighbour's kid next door. Her brunette hair was tied into pigtails and her dark red eyes had a tint of boredom and coldness in it, making her look intimidating for somebody who looked 8 or 9 at most. Her attire consisted of simple yet expensive looking clothes. She wasnt usually the kind of person to talk. They went to different schools so they didnt talk then. Whenever Oliver would try to talk to her, she'd ignore him. And yet, she's speaking to him at this very moment. And besides he doesnt know much about her, not even her name

"I said what are you doing here?"

She repeated.

Oliver quickly wiped his tears and retorted,

"Well, what are you doing here?"

"Aren't you gonna play with your friends?"

Oliver was silent at this. The girl quickly realised she may have got into a touchy subject. She tried to quickly mumble an apology.

"O-Oh I'm sorry, I thought--"

"Nah, its good." Oliver said, trying to reassure her with a smile on his face as if he wasn't weeping like a minute ago.He prefers to greet others with a good mood. Then he said,

"I'm Oliver by the way." He added, wanting to start a conversation.

The shorter brunette tilted her head in a confused manner. She responded saying,

"But you look like a girl?"

"Blame my twin for this" Oliver said with an irritated huff.

"Oh. I'm Alice Venrose." She said.

Then Oliver noticed she had a little black bunny doll which she was hugging quite firmly. He got up from the swing and walked to her.

"Whats his name? Mr. Bunnykins?" Oliver added in a teasing manner.

Alice hugged her doll tighter and defensively said,"Its Asmodeus. Modi for short."

"Unoriginal."

"What do you mean 'Unoriginal'?!"

"Ok,ok my bad."

He curiously looked at it even more, before asking,

"Can I hold it?"

"No. Nobody but the people I say can have him."
Alice said in a firm, defensive voice.

"Am I in that list?"

"No, not yet at least."

"Aw c'monnn."

Oliver wanted to keep talking to Alice. He didn't know why, he just wanted to. So he felt he should give her something nice. He then playfully asked if she wanted to go on the swing. She was hesitant at first but she decided to go while he would push. Every push he gave was gentle, precise and he made sure she would not fall of the swing and enjoy. After swinging for a bit, Alice insisted it was her turn to push Oliver on the swing. Before she could do that however, she noticed the sun was setting and her nanny had to pick her up.Even though she couldn't stay for long, and she was kinda antisocial, Oliver liked her company from then on.

From then on, Oliver and Alice would meet up at the top of the hill. Sometimes they would talk a bit while most of the time they'd just enjoy in silence. As a few months progressed, Oliver invited her over at his place (with her nanny too). He noticed that she would get her own food and drinks from home. One time he managed to sneak a peek into her lunch-box and he saw what looked like flesh and organs before getting a good scolding from her. He didnt tell anyone about it though.

One lovely afteroon, Oliver decided to come at their usual meeting place with his friend Alice. He had a little surprise for her. He had brought matching friendship necklaces with a magnetic, triangular charm and wanted it as something to remember her by if they ever parted. He waited and waited. About 25 minutes later Alice finally came, looking sullen and upset. Oliver noticed her expression so he asked,

"Alice, What happened?"

She gave no response. He got slightly worried and continued to press on the subject. At last she mumbled,

"My dad said that we have to move out of the neighborhood tomorrow , I begged him not to but he wouldnt change his mind. So we should spend the most we can now...I'm so sorry Oliver..."

"Wait WHAT?!"

Oliver stared at her in horror. He didn't want her to leave, she was his only true friend! He started to tear up while shakily saying,

"Alice, don't..go, please..."

Seeing him cry made Alice feel bad but she didn't cry too. She let her hands out and gestured Oliver to hug her. He embraced her while sobbing on her shoulder. Alice patted his back on the meanwhile.
When they finally broke apart, Oliver showed her the friendship necklaces and she happily accepted them. They had their last playtime together and when sunset came along Alice surprised Oliver by giving Asmodeus to him.

"Isn't he yours?" Oliver asked but Alice replied, "Take care of him, remember him for me."

Oliver took the doll in his hands and looked at it, feeling a mixture of sorrow and gratitude. He held it gently and promised he would never damage it.

Many, many years passed. Oliver was now 16 and what was once a 'weird looking' but sweet boy was now a hot (and slightly feminine) guy who turned into an asshole. He managed to enact his revenge on his fake friends by permanently humiliating them and he even made new better buddies, Zip and Edward. He now was the most popular guy in school that was favoured by alot of the teachers. He had his own trio, he had fame, he had the looks, he had almost everything...

However, what most don't know is that he still waits for his childhood bestfriend. He acts all cocky and rude but deep inside he had a heart, for Alice at least. He still kept her doll Asmodeus safe, just like he promised. He'd daydream about when they'd meet again. He still wears the friendship necklace brought since he was nine. Sometimes he would stay up at night, missing her and yearning for her company. Whenever the teachers would announce a new student, He'd desperately hope it was Alice. Only his two buddies know about his longing, his longing to meet with the girl he prematurely parted.

It was a regular school day. As usual, Oliver and Zip were throwing paper balls and planes all over the classroom causing an absolute ruckus in the class. As the chaos was going on, Edward tapped Oliver on the shoulder causing both Oliver and Zip to turn to see him.

"Y'all I just hacked the school's database and guess what?"Edward started off. Zip raised a brow as Oliver slyly commented,"Did you really just hack the school's database?"

"Bro listen, I just found out three new students are getting transfered."

"And?"

"One of them is..."

Edward paused to add a dramatic affect and he muttered barely decibels above a whisper,

"Alice. Venrose."

"You're joking"

"Am not, Oliver!" Edward retorted and he continued,"besides she's supposed to come by tomorrow. If she doesnt I'll lick a tree."

"Wait really?" Zip inquired, She hadnt been paying much attention to him as she was busy trying to aim the plane directly at a kid's eye. Although she did understand what they were on about. "Dude, Edward sounds legitimate, it might just be your lucky tomorrow!" Zip added exitedly. Oliver listened and thought that if she would come, he'd be the first to greet her.

The next day, Oliver came to school early. Normally he would come late but since he heard and believes she'd come, he wanted to surprise her. He leaned on his locker door. A few other students were scattered around here and there but he kept an eye out for Alice. He heard the big school doors open, and out came Alice but a lot different than before.

Her brunette hair now reaching a little above her her shoulders, her attire still classy, and her eyes were still intimidating but also gorgeous. She was wearing a cute little tiara this time for god knows what reason, and she was wearing the necklace from before.

Oliver ran up to her and came to her cheerfully saying,

"Alice! I missed you, You have no idea how glad I am to have you back!"

He went to hug her but to his shock, she pushed him away eyeing him as if he were a stranger. She seemed unsettled and yelled out,

"Who are you?! I dont even know you!!"
