Chapter Text

Life has always been full of surprises. One day, you're getting your shit together. The next, something unexpected happens. Wrecking your plans, as if those never existed.

You were the kind of person who couldn't handle going with the flow. You liked having planners for a smooth sailing day. If you can't finish a task today, tomorrow is a brand new day to make a progress. Sure enough, what was about to happen was never in your planner.

Saturday was your unwinding day with your friends. The past few weeks had taken a toll on you, so you called them and made plans to party all night at Slow Hands Bar.

It was the closest to your neighborhood and you heard it wasn't always jammed pack, which made it more enticing to you and your friends tonight. You are all introverts but it doesn't mean you don't have the energy to have fun. You can drink, dance and talk all night but having a lot of people around would be draining though. As noise can be overwhelming and would make your head ache.

The bar's entrance had a neon red sign that it made you excited to see what's inside as loud music blasted out on speakers that you can even hear it outside. The anticipation you were feeling was quenched when you saw a cozy bar with a lot of people but not so chaotic in the eyes. You can surely talk in peace there but at the same time you can party all night and you certainly like the duality of the place very much.

The music was amazing since you heard a few K-pop songs amidst the usual party songs. You figured that the Dj knows the current trends or he's really just fond of K-pop. But whatever it was, you feel grateful to him.

You were sitting in the stool and drinking your all-time favorite drink Strawberry Moscato while talking to your friends about different things, when suddenly the bartender started tapping your arms. Confused, you looked at him quizzically.

"Miss... Someone wants you to have this drink. It seems you catched the interest of Mr. Silver Hair right there." The bartender brought a Strawberry drink and put it in front you. Strawberry drink? He suddenly pointed behind your back and now, you could really feel the piercing gaze of the man he was pertaining to. And it made you wonder for how long the man had been staring at you from the back.

Worse, you couldn't even remember if you ever looked towards his way that you were able to catch his eye. You slowly looked behind you curiously, and his red eyes immediately captivated you. You had never seen this kind of eye color to someone. Was he a vampire or something? You tried to take a look at him more. And oh my god, he's gorgeous and he's smirking at you. What the fuck?

He had silver hair like the bartender told me.  He looked sophisticated with his attire. Chain necklace around his neck and rings on his fingers made him seem more expensive. His coat was also the color of his eyes while underneath was a black dress shirt that gave an amazing color contrast. And his overall physique made you wonder how big he is, considering his bulge looked like it was about to pop out of his pants. You hate your mind so much for having these explicit thoughts.

You wanted to look away but for some reason, you couldn't. And his biceps, it looked like it was also about to rip his coat off. The truth is, you have a thing for biceps and your mind is going crazy, thinking about the things he could do to you. You were ogling him like a mad woman and he was well aware of it considering he was also doing the same thing to you.

But. No no no no. You're not gonna allow this.

"Can you give it to him and tell him I said thank you for the offer, but no?" You pleaded to the bartender and he scratched his head. Probably feeling torn on whose side he should take.

"No, MC, accept it! He's hot!" Diana pinched your arm playfully while placing the drink in front of you. You looked at her feeling annoyed. Diana was one of your highschool friends and one of the people who stayed in your life even after years had passed by. She's your sister from another mother and one of your soulmates in life.

"So what if he's attractive?" You raised your eyebrows and crossed your arms to let them know you're not giving in, anytime soon. Not all attractive people had the rights to get into your system that easily!

"MC, you can't be serious! He's your type!" Reigne butted in and you know what she's talking about. You just ignored her remark and facepalmed instead. While Reigne was also a highschool friend, whom you didn't get along at first. You had come to love each other after a simple one-on-one conversation in the past. Who knew, the two of you would be inseparable.

"No! He looks like he's the type to ruin a woman's life. You have seen him right? He's too breathtaking for my liking!" You tried to justify your decision. You can't just let yourself go insane over someone again. You're not up for temporary bullshit. Not now. Not ever again.

"MC, just try it out. What if he's worth it? You should never judge a book by its cover, remember?" Diana tried to persuade you and you're this close to giving in but no.

"Take it away, Gab." You looked at the bartender's name tag and smiled at him. Your friends just shooked their heads and kept shaking you. And you almost wanted to laugh because they really want you to suck it up and try to open up your heart again, it seems.

The bartender nodded and was about to get it from you when someone spoke behind all of you.

"You're not gonna accept the drink? It's on me." You heard a voice so deep, it gave you goosebumps in an instant. But you tried your hardest to calm yourself down internally. You can't show the effects of getting someone's attention effortlessly. It was hard, but you had to be cautious. You can't afford to like someone new and end up getting hurt again.

"No, but thank you though. I appreciate it." You cleared your throat and was about to turn around when you saw your friends beside you had suddenly vanished as if they were ghosts or something. You were confused, so you looked around and found nothing but the man whom you declined the offer of, standing in front of you. The way he stared at you was intense, it was as if you're the only one he's seeing.

And it's making your heart pound so hard, it felt like your heart's gonna explode. You wonder if he could hear it. You suddenly felt awkward so you cleared your throat again.

"Sorry, sweetheart. I can't let you get out of my grasp just yet. I'm Sylus, by the way. What's your name, sweetie?" He asked while taking a seat beside you and you shifted in your seat a bit, as you suddenly felt more nervous more than ever.

You couldn't talk. You wanted to say something but your brain wouldn't function well enough as you hear his voice and your senses got a hold of his perfume. He smelled so good and it's dangerous!

"I'm MC." You just muttered and he repeated your name a few more times, as if to make sure he will remember it.

You felt yourself getting dizzy, so you massaged your forehead a bit to ease some of the pain. You think the alcohol's slowly getting into you. You can drink but you guess, not so much. You have low tolerance but you rarely drink anyway, so why not make the most out of it?

"You okay there, MC?" You could sense concern in his voice so you just nodded but you got shocked when he suddenly took your hands off your head and exchanged it with his own. He started massaging your forehead gently. He doesn't look like he could be gentle but as his fingers started rubbing in a circular motion, he sure was. You could feel the pain slowly easing a bit. Though, you could still hear your head pounding. It wasn't as painful as before.

"Y-you're great at this, huh?" You tried to make a small talk because you feel flustered with whatever's happening and you're glad he answered you with seriousness.

"Yeah. Perks of being independent, I guess. Being alone makes you learn a lot and be great at things. You do things on your own, with no other people catering to your needs and wants. So you have to do it all by yourself." He seemed certain and honest with what he's saying. And you suddenly got more interested in him.

From what he said alone, you felt like you were polar opposites. You're not so independent yet. Your parents still makes you rely on them even though you're already an adult. You wanted to be like him. To have that freedom from people's expectations. You truly wanted that for yourself too.

But it's not like it's easy to detach yourself away from them. And as much as you do want to move out, you don't wanna hurt their feelings knowing you're their only child.

"I wonder how it feels. I want to be independent too." You muttered while staring into your drink.  The headache that you had been feeling was actually disappearing. His fingers did magic!

"It's hard at first, figuring things out all by yourself. But it gets manageable in the long run." You just hummed at what he told you. You could only imagine how hard it was. There are things you definitely could handle alone but having no one to lean on when times get actually tough sounded impossible to go through. Or maybe you were just dependent...

"You're not gonna stop?" You yawned and asked him since you're already feeling drowsy, thanks to his treatment. He pulled his fingers away and in a way, you wished he continued instead.

"Feeling sleepy, are you?" He chuckled while taking a sip of his drink. His deep voice really does something to you.

"Yeah, I can't take it anymore. It's your hands' fault." You rolled your eyes and decided to send another message to the two and ask them where they went.

"What? Did I do wonders to you? Massage is not the only thing I'm good at, sweetie. My hands are definitely skilled with something else." He smirked at you and you knew what he was implying. Men were predictable but you found yourself curious to what those fingers could do. With how big he was, you know you would be at his mercy. The man was a total tower and you were afraid it would be embarrassing to stand beside him. You're already small enough and you would probably feel even smaller.

"Oh, you are? Then use it on yourself instead." You nonchalantly told him and smirked. When in reality, deep inside your heart is pounding so hard from all the things that was running through your mind. You're afraid you would pass out in front of him.

"Now, where is the fun in that? I'd rather use it on you, sweetie." He poked your cheek slowly but you didn't budge. You just rolled your eyes at him and you could feel yourself almost smiled at his antics.

"Whatever." You yawned again and just stared at his ruby eyes. You didn't know what to do or say. Attractive men really makes you speechless. You wanted to talk to him more. You wanted to hear his voice. You wanted to get to know him better. There were a lot of potential questions to ask but you had no courage to voice it out. Maybe you need to drink a bit more for liquid courage?

"Stop drinking." He grabbed the drink from your hand as you were attempting to taste a little bit more and downed it all in one go. You raised my eyebrows at what he did.

"What are you on about? You gave me that drink right?" You huffed and crossed your arms. He was getting you so confused! He just chuckled while you still felt annoyed. Dude really just gave you false hope, you guess.

"You obviously have low alcohol tolerance, MC. Drink moderately and responsibly." He scolded you and you suddenly got flustered. Well he's right about that. No matter how many times you drink, your body still can't handle that much alcohol.

"But!" You tried to reason out and he shaked his head.

"No. Let's just talk, sweetheart. I'll treat you next time, I promise. Do you think you can go home if you drink more?" He softly asked you and started getting closer to you to brush your hair, too soothing for your liking.

"No, not really..." You suddenly looked down as you were hit with realization how you and your friends were always careful drinking, as you all had low alcohol tolerance. Even if this bar was close to your home, it's never a good idea to get overly wasted.

"Does that mean you want to see me again?" You suddenly felt excited when you were able to process his overall sentence. You didn't mean to sound so excited but you could never deny that you do want to see him again. You guess, it's better that he knows.

"Yeah. Well, you certainly caught my attention." He pinched your cheeks and played with your hair again.

"Good!" You smiled at him and relished at the feeling of his fingers running through your hair. He just continued staring at you. You wanted him to stop what he's doing but at the same time, you don't. The feeling of having his attention makes you greedy yet overwhelmed. It's such a confusing feeling.

You're the kind of person who likes planning things. And being interested in getting to know someone new was never included in that list.

What had Sylus done to you?
