Chapter 1: His mother
Chapter Text
Kaveh always remembered the warmth of his mother’s hand wrapped around his tiny fingers, her laughter dancing in the air as bright as the sun beaming down on their little home in the hills. He could recall the delightful sound of his father’s voice teasing Kaveh about his never-ending stream of questions, a steady stream that seemed to flow incessantly when he was curious about their worlds.
But the day the news came, he stood still in the hallway, his little world suddenly too large and too empty. The dusk that filtered through the windows seemed to draw shadows over his heart as Matra spoke the painful news .Kaveh could see it in the way her lips tightened, her eyes amber jade of stone clouded by pain " He' s gone " She admitted softly placing a hand over her mouth. The world was unkind and unreasonable; that was his first lesson of the reality of this world. That night, Kaveh had stood in the hallway, a mere shadow of a boy caught in the twilight of childhood and the encroaching darkness of adulthood. He promised himself to fill the void left by his father, to live in a way that would make his mother proud. He would tread the path of honor that his father had blazed. “Mother, I will make you proud,” Kaveh whispered to the stillness, as though hoping she could hear the fervor in his voice past the shadows that enveloped her. Days turned into weeks, and Kaveh poured himself into his studies. He chased knowledge with a fervor that often left him breathless, driven by images of his father’s strong, joyful laughter and the proud glint in his mother’s eyes. He read texts on architecture and engineering, dreaming of the grand structures he would one day design, buildings that would tell stories.
Though his mother remained an unbreakable statue at times, there were fleeting moments when she would hover near the threshold of their shared memories. The sweet aroma of mint from her garden wafted through the house, and on those days, Kaveh could see no hope of the future but still he dreamed about the future. He got into Kshahrewar but he lost his mother to Fontaine . He stood on the port as her suitcase in hand was stiff. " I'll be okay alone mom " he began trying to be strong . She smiled softly, the sweet aroma of mint and roses came from her, a reminder of the past . She nodded, heading onto the boat that would lead her to a better future he hoped for her . It's hard to say when he lied to himself there for his mother. She looked back at him from the boat and he smiled. It was fake but he learned to hide it well over the years . That was his second lesson of the reality of this world
