Chapter Text
“This is such a dumb idea.”
“You don’t like it?”
“Gwen. When have you ever seen me dressed like this?”
“Good point, but it’s what gets the money.”
“Gross.”
“You’re the one who asked me to help.”
“I didn’t mean to dress me like a whore!”
“Excuse you, but that’s one of my suits.”
“You’ve literally called yourself a whore before. You have no room to talk.”
Gwen rolled her eyes with a snort as I reluctantly followed her up to the line. I’d never felt so goddamn exposed. The “suit” she had me wearing was a nice teal blue, but was more like lingerie than a real suit. A sheer jacket, a thin tank top with holes systematically cut in it that clung to my skin, and suit pants that felt more like skinny jeans with even more holes cut in them.
“Just relax, you look fine,” Gwen said gently. “I wouldn’t put you in something that bad. Besides, the color matches your complexion.”
“And shows a lot of it,” I grumbled.
“Have you seen this dress?” Gwen snickered, gesturing to her seafoam green dress. If it could even be called that. Then again, she was a tall latino woman so most dresses couldn’t be called that. Though this one took the cake seeing as it barely covered her ass. Her breasts were damn near popping out the top with how tight the dress was. It was backless too, to add to the absolute insanity.
“I almost regret asking,” I sighed, glancing at my reflection in the tinted window of the club we were trying to get in. At least she hadn’t gone for a full makeup look on me. Just some simple black eyeliner and some glitter at the corner of my eyes to match the suit. And yet I still felt like I’d overdressed.
“I promise, you won’t when this actually works.”
“If it works.”
“It’ll work. You’re a hot catch of an alpha.”
“I look like a beta. Or an omega.”
“You’d be surprised how many people really like that.”
“Uhuh, sure.”
“I swear! You’re a cutie!”
I rolled my eyes as we approached the front of the line. Gwen quickly whipped out her ID, nudging me gently to do the same. The bouncer didn’t seem impressed as I fished mine from the stupid purse Gwen had given me. Why didn’t these damn pants have any pockets?
“He’s with me, by the way,” Gwen said with a wink. The bouncer hummed as I showed him my ID before waving us both inside. I could already hear the loud music, the volume quite literally thrumming through me. Too much bass.
“The hell was that about?”
“The club is exclusive. If you weren’t with me you’d have to pay, or find someone else to hang with.”
“Jesus fuck Gwen.”
“Just keep it cool, okay? You’ll be fine.”
“I don’t even have any money!”
“Taylor. You’re fine.”
My nerves were getting the better of me as we walked into the noisy club. Somehow there were both more and less people inside than I expected. Men and women roamed the club in similar outfits to ours with drunken smiles and drinks in hand. Some of them glanced our way with interested looks before moving on.
“Gwen! Over here!” a young looking woman called out. She gave us both a bright smile as we walked up to her booth and sat down. To my relief it seemed to be a little quieter inside the booth.
“This is Taylor, my friend I was talking about!” Gwen said as she gave me a small comforting pat on the shoulder. “Taylor, this is Felicia. She’s the one who got me into the business.”
“Don’t call it that. You make it sound like we’re prostitutes.”
“Isn’t that what a sugar baby is?”
“There’s more effort in being a sugar baby and you know it.”
“Where’s your daddy?”
“Off in the VIP section. I wanted to wait for you two.”
“Mhm, Dan with him?”
“Sure is. Along with a few others.”
“Perfect.”
Both of them gave me flirty grins as I nervously curled in on myself. Was I really about to do this? The flirty grins on Gwen and Felicia’s faces faded into concerned looks as they both sat beside me and began to rub my back.
“I can take you home if you want,” Gwen said gently. “You don’t have to actually come with us. I get you’re strapped for cash but there are other options.”
“I can do this,” I choked out. “I-I want to do this. If it doesn’t work I’ll go home.”
“That’s a good plan,” Felicia said with a nod. “We’ll be right here with you. If anything happens we’ll stop it.”
I nodded a little before we all made our way up to the VIP section. Despite my nerves I really did need that money. There were debts and bills to be paid after all and my job had literally just fired me.
