"Shit!" Remus was dragged out of his satisfying slumber to the sound of James stubbing his toe on the edge of Remus' bed, if the slight shudder of the wood gave any indication.
"Sorry Moony!" James whispered. "Ow. Ow."
"mmrph." Remus let out a noise of mild sleepy frustration in response, rolling over to cover his eyes with his arm to block out the sunlight filtering through the slight gap at the top of his bed curtains, diffusing throughout his little island of isolation. But Remus' arm did not in fact meet cool sheets when he rolled - it whacked into a hard lump, a lump with hair, he could feel, and in the time it took for Remus to open his eyes he figured out - that's Sirius.
Sirius Black was in his bed, murmuring an offended grunt as he moved his sleeping figure away from Remus' raised arm. Sirius Black was in his bed, and this was not the first time, but it was morning time, and James was awake, mere metres from where Remus' bare leg was crossed over Sirius' thigh.
This was not good. James didn't know about them yet - if he found Sirius in Remus' bed, half dressed and asleep, not to mention the fading hickeys scattered on his thighs and ribs, there would be trouble.
Still able to hear James moving around his bed, presumably getting ready for football, and humming, as well as the soft rains falling which dull these sounds, Remus slowly pulled his arm out from under Sirius' neck, and removed his leg from Sirius'. Unfortunately, Sirius was a fucking octopus when he slept, so, with a frown and a grunt of disapproval, his unconscious figure shifted closer to Remus, rolling onto his stomach and throwing a hand over his chest. Shit. This might be tricky. Remus pushed Sirius away, regretting the loss of touch, and rolling him back onto his side, bare hands on his bare ribs. This caused Sirius to squint up at Remus' concerned face, one eye open, lifting an arm to brush some inky black strands unceremoniously out of his face.
"What are you-" croaked Sirius, only to stop abruptly when Remus clapped a hand over his mouth and brought the other to his own lips in a shushing gesture. Sirius' eyebrows furrowed, then his eyes widened and flicked around as he realised where he was, what situation he was in.
"Moony? Did you say something?" Said James from across the room.
"Uh, no," he said with wide eyes. "I think you're imagining things." Sirius licked his fingers, which were still clamped over his mouth, and Remus made a face and removed them.
"Oh... okay. I'd better get the others up." James walked across the room to Peter's bed, who was still snoozing, blissfully uninterrupted by the morning's shenanigans.
"You're in my bed!" Remus whispered, noise covered by James and Pete's quiet conversation.
"I didn't mean to stay!" Sirius whispered back, animated by the seeming accusation.
"It's... not your fault, just... shit, this isn't good." Said Remus. Sirius nodded solemnly, something he could only be expected to do when tired or under the influence, and lifted a sleepy arm to run down Remus' own, from his shoulder to wrist.
"What are you doing?" Remus asked quietly as Sirius began to weave their fingers together, fiddling with his, stroking up and down the knuckles.
"Just because we've got company doesn't mean I can't enjoy the simple pleasures of my boyfriend," Sirius teased, before bringing the hand he was holding to his lips, and leaving a lingering kiss on Remus' knuckles, holding eye contact with him the whole time. Remus swallowed. Sirius saying things like that usually leads to something not-quite pg rated.
"Remus?" Called James, bursting their bubble of a secrecy held within the bed curtains.
"Yeah?" Remus replied tentatively.
"Sirius isn't here! Do you know where he might have got to?"
"Really? That's weird. I don't know where he is, maybe the common room?"
"Maybe he couldn't sleep," added Peter. Sirius, who had until then been slowly brushing his soft fingers across Remus' bare shoulders and torso, then pinched his side ubruptly.
"Ah! Sirius, you bloody-" Remus pushed his hands away, avoiding his mischievous grin.
"What was that, Moony?" Said James, bumbling around the room again.
"Nothing, I just hit my arm on the bedpost!"
"Okay. You should get up soon, though, it's almost nine," James shouted back from across the room. Remus was distracted, his eyes flicking around Sirius' face, and trailing over the peaks and valleys of his body - his neck with a tendon standing out, the dip of his throat, collarbones sticking out for the way he was propped up by one arm, ribs that only just cast slight shadows, patterns of light and dark, on his pale, flat skin, a jutting hipbone where his boxers were pulled low and his slight stomach drooped downward, and below that... and of course his thighs, his lovely thighs, always a favourite place to bite and suck, loving the way Sirius' warm, soft skin gave way so easily to his mouth's caress, open entirely to his marks in a place where only Remus and Sirius would see them. Sirius' hand, during their heated contemplation, had wandered to his hip, and was stroking it ever so slowly...
"Yeah, Remus?"
"Sure, whatever James." Remus replied absentmindedly, fixated on the way Sirius was subtly biting his lip, never once breaking eye contact.
"Come on Moony, you promised Lily you'd meet her at 9.30 to study for History, remember?"
"Ugh." Remus fell forward into Sirius, burying his head in the crook of his neck.
"You promised her, Remus!" Said James, zipping up a bag.
"Ugh, okay, just give me a minute!" Sirius had taken advantage of Remus new position to slide his hand from hip to thigh and begin to stroke and squeeze the back of his leg inching closer and closer to the inside of his legs each time. James' heavy footsteps could then be heard coming across the room.
"You need to get up, mate. Do you really want to face Evans' wrath again? And I hear it's pancakes for breakfast today! Come on!" Sirius (regretfully) took his hand off Remus hip, draping it on the bed and closing his eyes to feign sleep.
"I'll give you some sunlight, that'll get you up." With James striding closer to his bed every moment, and Sirius' glorious nudity on display, Remus panicked and blurted out the first excuse he could think of:
"JAMES! Don't come in! I've got a boner!" A shocked silence filled the space for a second, before James could be heard stepping away.
"All...right then. I'll leave you be. But you have to be out soon, okay? Lily will be mad at me if you're late again."
"Oh, for gods sake, Prongs, let me deal with my own arrangements myself! You have worse problems than your girlfriend being pissed off at your best mate. Butt out of it. And it's the weekend! Let me lie in for a little while." Remus had lifted his head from Sirius' neck to make the harsh statement, and Sirius had become reanimated, stroking along his back and sides, making Remus shiver.
"Uh, sorry Moony. I guess I did overstep there. Just stressed with too much energy. I'll leave you be."
"Thanks." A pause, devoid of James' usual pottering sounds. "And I won't wank if you're in here, idiot. So don't worry about that," asserted Remus, though with the soft, open-mouthed kisses Sirius had began trailing down his neck, the vein of that statement was becoming increasingly false.
"What do you think you're doing?" Asked Remus, slipping a leg over Sirius thighs as James walked into the bathroom. Sirius' grin spoke louder than his teasing words.
"Oh, just having some fun. You gonna let me take care of that?" He whispered, trailing his hand lower. Remus looked down. An idiot he may be, but a liar he was not.
"I-" He stopped as James walked out into the room again, humming, and his conversation with Peter could just be heard over the rain - "You joining me for football or staying in?" "Mmph." "Staying in, then." "Close th' bed curtains..." - and while James was distracted, Remus slid his hand down Sirius' lithe body to palm his erection through his boxers, moving his hand up and down at such a tantalisingly slow pace.
"Moony-" Sirius bucked his hips up, trying to grind his length further into Remus' palm. Remus acquiesced by pulling Sirius to the middle of the bed and swinging a leg over him, aligning their cores. James was across the other side of the room now, doing god-knows-what to get ready, and no more noise from Pete, meaning he was probably asleep, but still Remus was thankful for the rain pounding down on their roof, increased in volume since this morning. It helped muffle the desperate sound that escaped Sirius' mouth as Remus ground his hips down onto the other boy's, and caused him to grip Remus' biceps tightly.
"Remus-" whined Sirius, always the desperate beggar in situations like this, forgetting his surrounds in pursuit of pleasure.
"Sirius," Remus whispered, placing a hand over the older boy's mouth. "You have to be quiet. James is still in here, and he thinks you're gone." He punctuated each sentence with a driving push of his hips, and all Sirius could do was nod silently and repetitively, his eager eyes doing all the pleading he felt the urge to.
Remus placed his forearm next to Sirius' head and let his body collapse on top of him, brushing Sirius' hair away from his neck to fit his own head above Sirius' shoulder, burying his face in the curve of his neck. The perfume Sirius had put on yesterday morning still lingered, a faint floral scent settled on his warm skin. This was the skin that made him feel like home.
Sirius placed his arms on Remus' back and drove his hips down further, deeper, their clothed lengths rubbing against each other.
"Mm- Remus, you feel so good," whispered Sirius, reaching up to tangle his fingers in Remus' curls.
"So do you, Siri," Remus mumbled, muffled by his place at Sirius' neck. Sirius kept pulling on the rusty golden strands of his hair, and soothing them again by scratching his scalp. Remus bit his lip, rutting harder into Sirius. But it felt like something was missing. Remus shifted his hips to find a position that would have a bigger impact on him - he knew that taking them out of their pants would be overstepping in this situation, with their friends so close and only the rain to dull the sounds of their surreal intimacy. Still, Remus so wished he could turn Sirius over, rip down his boxers and grab his ass, fitting his cock so nicely inside him. Remus wished he could kiss and suck on his neck, and knead his thighs with rough hands. But right now, all Remus could do was roll his hips rhythmically into Sirius. Sirius, who was writhing underneath him like a trapped animal, whispering pleads and moans under his breath.
Remus ended up slotting his thigh in between Sirius', feeling his hard cock at the top of it, and his own cock rubbing against the tensing muscle of Sirius thigh, just below his hipbone. Yes, this was the way to do it. This position made Remus see stars (metaphorically, this time), but literally as well, as he watched Sirius' face closely from above as he whimpered and sighed.
"Hey Moony?" Remus froze at the sound of James calling to him; his and Sirius' eyes wide and locked together.
"Yeah?"
"Do you know what I did with my biology textbook?" Remus' eyes flicked around nervously.
"Uh, yeah, you lent it to Marlene." Remus punctuated this sentence with another, slower, but deep, roll of his hips down onto Sirius, with his hand pressed firmly over Sirius' mouth as he watched his eyes roll back.
"Oh yeah, thanks. Gonna go brush my teeth then I'll be out of your way." James called.
"Mmm..." Remus murmured, out of the conversation already as the knot growing low in his stomach tightened. As soon as he heard James' step on the tiles of the bathroom, Remus drove his hips into Sirius again, unrestrained, and Sirius moaned out into the open air. Remus placed his hand over Sirius' mouth once again to muffle his cries, leaning down to connect this lips with the older boy's neck, propped up on his forearm.
"Honestly, Sirius, I can't ever trust you to be - mmh - quiet," he murmured low into Sirius' ear. "Have to ensure it myself." Kissing up Sirius' neck all the while, sucking on the sensitive skin with a slight bite. Sirius just returned his fingers to Remus' hair, pulling to express his heightened feelings.
"I know you said no marks here, but god, I need to taste your skin. And you can just tell James you saw a girl, right?" Remus returned to Sirius' neck, sucking harder.
"mhm," Sirius replied, faltering as Remus' thigh continued to rub him.
"Are you close, baby?" Remus whispered.
"Mmh, yeah," replied Sirius, bucking his hips up in search of a faster pace.
"Me too." A pause, in which Remus took Sirius' hand in his, curling their fingers together and pressing it down to the mattress about his head. "Um, Sirius, when you come, do you want to... bite me? So you don't moan too loudly."
"Yes," Sirius gasped, moving his own hips frantically, fisting Remus' hair and hand.
"Here-" Remus brushed stray curls off his neck and offered it to Sirius, close to his wet, red lips. Sirius was letting out a series of quiet, high pitched moans, becoming increasingly quick, then, he yanked Remus' curls, exposing his neck and pulling it to his mouth, before biting down, teeth buried in his skin, tongue ghosting over the flesh contained in his mouth. His hair was being pulled as hard as it had been, and the pain at his neck was oh, so delicious, and Remus felt so exposed, so raw and so in love, that he couldn't help but reach his own peak as soon as Sirius' teeth sunk into his skin.
"Sirius-" Remus' own sounds were not dampened, and Sirius' name was moaned, high pitched, next to his ear as Remus writhed against him, delirious with pleasure, as if he was strung out on a stimulant for those vital seconds. Sirius released Remus' neck from his mouth and Remus dropped his head down into the gap of Sirius shoulder, planting a lazy, chaste kiss on the sticky skin of the arch of his neck as he slowed the movement of his hips.
"Ugh..." Sirius moaned, his eyes fluttering shut with exhausted satisfaction as his head tipped back, hands strewn above it. The idle movement of their hips together was now slickened with the joint product of their pleasure, which was heightening their sensitivity whenever Remus rolled his hips slightly and slowly against Sirius. Sirius lifted his hand and replaced it on Remus' head, not pulling this time but stroking through his mess of curls gently, and pressing his fingertips into the younger boy's scalp as a massage. Remus was lying on him contentedly, and sure, Sirius may not have been able to breathe quite as deeply as usual for the pressure on his ribs, but he'd sacrifice all the air that had ever reached his lungs if he was able to hold Remus like this whenever he wanted.
James walked out of the bathroom then, with better dental hygiene than before. Luckily, he only gathered some things and left, presumably for breakfast, and a good thing too, since the rain had ceased sometime during their brief ascension.
"Oh my god, Moony," said Sirius as soon as the door shut behind James. "I think you killed me."
"mm," Remus hummed into Sirius' neck. "And I didn't even fuck you." Sirius only bit his lip absentmindedly and kept combing through Remus' hair, an affectionate hand holding his waist.
"I'll definitely be late to meet with Lily now," Remus murmured, but took no move to rectify the fact.
"Yeah, probably. We should get up then, and shower."
"No..." Remus whined. "Wanna stay here with you... sleep some more."
"Mm, me too, but I feel awfully sticky. And hungry. Come on, we can even shower together."
"But Peter..."
"Peter was awake when we came in at midnight, you know he'll sleep for another hour at least. Don't you want to shower with me, Moony?"
"Maybe..."
In the end, Sirius and Remus did end up in the shower together, but at Sirius' insistence (surprising, since he was usually the instigator), there was no funny business (apart from teasing kisses and touches that lingered), and they made it to breakfast before it closed at 10 o'clock, before Peter even woke up. James had already left the great hall for football practice, so Sirius could make up excuses for his absence this morning. They parted ways with a quick kiss in an alcove, before Remus made it to the library a spectacular forty minutes late. At least he'd remembered his textbook and worksheets.
"Hi Lily." Remus dropped his books onto the table next to her, startling her out of her writing. The library was thankfully sparse of students, with not many fancying a study session on a Saturday morning.
"Remus! I thought you weren't coming!" Lily's bright eyes drilled him as he took a seat next to her, turning his chair to face her and lean his elbow on the table.
"Yeah, well, I... slept in. Sorry."
"God, honestly, didn't Potter wake you?"
"Tried to."
Lily smiled slightly and shook her head, a vibrant plait falling over her shoulder.
"Of course, I don't think I'd have much more luck with-" Lily halted abruptly, seeming to stare at something over his shoulder for a second, before she was rushing forward and brushing the shaggy curls off his neck.
"Remus! Is that a bite mark?!" She placed a finger on the sensitive skin and he swatted her away with wide eyes, sweeping the hair back on to his neck to cover it, before burying his face in his hands.
"Ugh. I forgot about that."
"Oh my god... is that why you slept in??" Lily was literally on the edge of her seat, leaning forward and trying to get a better look at his neck.
"Kind of." He looked at her and away again, then at his hands, which fidgeted with his nails. He took a deep breath.
"Lily, can you keep a secret?" Remus fixed his gaze on her, faces now serious.
"Um, yeah, I think so. Depends what it is and if it puts anyone in danger, but truthfully, I'd keep almost all of your secrets if you asked, Remus."
"I just... need to get this out of my head to somebody." He stared at her for a long few seconds.
"I'm seeing someone." He said finally.
"I gathered that."
"But, Lily, I'm... really invested in this."
"That's great, Remus."
"I've never felt this way about anyone. I don't want to sleep with anyone else anymore, it's just-" Remus almost said him. "this person."
Lily was only smiling faintly, looking pleased, and maybe even proud.
"But it's really scary because..." because Sirius wasn't a girl.
"God, Lily, I think I'm in love." He buried his face in his hands again, surely blushing, heartbeat quickening, breathing shallow. When he raised his head for Lily's reaction, she was barely containing her contagious smile.
"Do you think he loves you back?"
"Well, I sure hope-" Remus reeled back in shock, wide eyes fixed on Lily. She only let out a quiet chuckle, lowering her eyes. That was not reassuring.
"I never said it was a boy." Remus spat.
"Oh, Remus. There's nothing to be ashamed of at all, honestly. You're not the only queer I'm friends with, you know. Don't start feeling special now." Her almost-smug, never-ending smile remained. It pissed Remus off, because how was he allowed to feel so tumultuous and unsure when Lily got to say 'I told you so' and stay living in her little high up castle of heterosexuality with her perfect fucking boyfriend and grades??
"How the hell did you know?!" He asked.
"The way you look at him, Remus... it's the same way James looks at me." This did nothing to quell Remus' nerves.
"What?! Is it that obvious??"
"No, James is a lovesick puppy all the time, you're more subtle. But I happen to know your mannerisms, and I'm observant." She leaned forward with her chin in her hand that propped her up from the table.
"Oh my god. Does anyone- wait, so you know who it is??"
Lily nodded. "Unless you're pining after someone who constantly stands behind Sirius, or something."
"Oh my god." Remus was bent over slightly, his legs crossed on the chair now, and his head between his hands.
"Remus, it's okay. I won't tell anyone if you don't want, but I'm glad you got all that off your chest."
Remus looked up at her, still adjusting to her apparent omniscience. "You can't. Tell anyone, that is." This statement did not make her smile.
"Okay, Remus."
"It's just- we've only been together for a month or two, and I'm still getting used to the fact that he's just... mine, now. I'm not ready to tell people. And you know how so many people are about these things..."
"Yeah, I know." Lily said sympathetically. "Also, only that long? Those looks have been going on for quite a bit longer, you know."
"Ugh, yes, okay, so I've liked him for a while."
"You sure have. But hey, in the meantime you and I can complain about what menaces Potter and Black are to date."
Remus did smile this time, relaxing a little. "Yeah. He sure is a menace."
"I can imagine."
A contemplative silence, for Remus. "Hm." He picked up a pen and started flipping through his Chemistry textbook. He saw Lily smile and shake her head out of the corner of his eye, probably for such dismissal after such a serious (heh, Sirius), confession. After a minute, Remus realised his brain was very much not in a state for education.
"Ugh. I can't study right now. Wanna go smoke a joint behind the greenhouses?" He snapped his textbook shut loudly, attracting a dirty look from the librarian across the room.
"Remus, when do I ever want to do that?"
He shrugged. "Never hurts to ask. Wanna hear the new song I learnt? It's Led Zeppelin this time."
"Yeah! You're getting so good on that bass of yours, you'll be fit for a real band soon." She began to pack up along with him. As they crossed the library threshold, Lily said:
"Oh, and Remus?"
"Mm?"
"He looks at you the same way. Difference is, he only does it when you're not watching."
She walked on, leaving Remus stunned in the doorway.
