Work Text:

Vi is sitting alone in her large mansion. She repurposed this room to remember those she lost. It had to be a larger room because her life has been one of so much loss and grief.

Mom

Dad

Mylo

Claggor

Benzo

Vander

Powder

Isha

Caitlyn

Every single one has their own little corner.

Paintings, flowers, candles, keepsakes.
She remembers them all.
She tends to all of them every day.

She even allowed Tobias to add something for Cassandra.

How is it fair that she fought so hard for all these people.
Loved them with all her heart.
Did all she had in her to keep them safe.

And they all died anyway.

She keeps asking this question. But there is no one left to answer.

Violet Kiramman.

She never thought of taking on the name.
But when Caitlyn made her the sole heir she felt compelled to continue her legacy.

For someone who used to solve most problems with force she is surprisingly good at directing the house.

A wise leader.

The work helps her keep sane. Otherwise there would be too much time to drown in self pity.

Her path for happiness may have closed but there are still people in the two cities that deserve help.

Help of house Kiramman.

She funded Ekko's Hextech research.
The little man is now piltover's leading scientist.

She created the undercity fund. To help those in need.

During every council session she highlights her desire for a greater good.

It helps her move on. That's what she tells herself...

She's beginning to understand why caitlyn wasn't a woman of many words when it came to her own emotions.
The mansion is vast. But also empty. Cold. Devoid of understanding.

She would not dare to let another poor girl into her life.
Not with her track record.

Sleep is the worst.

That's why she tries to stay up as late as possible.

She can't bear to feel the soft bed sheets that once held both of them. Just to then feel the cold empty side of the bed where she always slept.

Every night she cries silently

When she does finally close her eyes usually one of two things happens.

She remembers her past. All the joy and love she once had. All the good memories. Her family. A time when the future was unknown. But one filled with possibility.

Or she remembers the day. The day she lost her. Ekko finding her broken. Paralyzed after losing her sister. The long way down the tower. The doors opening. The field littered with corpses. Noxians. Enforcers.

Among them a curled up body.

Half dried blood all over it.

Dark blue hair.

She remembers gently raising the body's head.

And seeing one sky blue eye.

Open.

Unmoving.

No pulse.

No breathing.

Body temperature already dropping.

She sat there.

How long she does not remember.

She just sat there as if she was stone.

As if she was just as lifeless as her love.

She felt... Nothing.

Anger, sorrow, grief, love... All gone.

She stared into Caitlyn's lifeless eye and felt empty nothingness.

Mel wanted to comfort her.

But after failing to prevent her execution ordered by her own mother she would not dare.

There is no point in offering an apology.

Vi was left alone.

Ekko stayed out of sight. But remained. Planning to get vi somewhere safe when she is ready.

It took her a lot of strength to finally touch her gently.

Feeling her skin. Cleaning off some of the blood. Gently closing her remaining eye. Steadying her hair.

She leaned in for a final gentle hug.

And she broke.

She must have cried for hours. Her eyes began to feel crusty from all the salt.

She knew she had to go at some point.

Not to keep herself alive.

But to make sure Caitlyn's last journey would be good enough for her.

Vi was close to passing out. But she didn't care. With all her care she lifted Caitlyn's body up and began walking. All the way to the Kiramman estate.

Tobias sat outside the front door. Expecting to see his daughter return. But not like this.

He was close to lashing out when he saw all the love and care vi had for his child even after death.

He called funeral services after helping vi place her in bed one last time.

He sat down next to vi. And together they wept. Both now having lost the very last person they loved.

The next day Tobias woke Vi and handed her a letter.

"Before she left. She told me to give you this. In case..."

Vi's heart stopped at the thought that Caitlyn may have known it would be her last fight.

"Dear Vi. If you are reading this... I'm sorry. I did all i could to come back alive. But i wasn't strong enough. I can't imagine how you must feel. Losing yet another loved one. I hoped we could build a future together. Use the Kiramman legacy for good. Now that i'm gone...that might still be possible.

I am hereby making you my heir. All i own. Everything under the Kiramman crest. Is now yours.

I just have one request. If you take this offer. Please take care of my dad.

Please remember the good moments we had.

I know i will never forget you, Violet.

I love you forever.

- Caitlyn Kiramman"

Tears fall and hit the letter. Dissolving the ink.

Vi looks at what remains of the woman she loves. And gently kisses her forehead.

She rises and salutes. And she swears on her life to carry out her will for as long as she lives.

Caitlyn's funeral was beautiful.

The entire city. Topside and bottom came to pay respects.

Caitlyn may have made some mistakes. But she died for all of them. Giving her life for a better future.

Vi holds a speech. But she can't hold back the tears.

Vi sits in her memorial room paying respects to her lost family.

Suddenly the sound of a small hexgate going off fills the outside corridor.

Vi turns to see what happened. As a woman with dark blue hair and two sky blue eyes enters through the door...

Notes:

... happy end?

i want to allow you all to interpret the ending in whatever way you want.

personally i like to think that it really is Caitlyn. just not her Caitlyn. she comes from a timeline where she lost Vi instead. she met Powder from the ep7 universe after she perfected Ekko's/Heimerdinger's Hextech Teleporter. together they search for a universe where Vi is alive.
