Watching Den-kat.

Summary:

It was a good thing Hitoshi liked cats. Because his boyfriend turned cute little yellow fluffball, just showed up as his door.

Or: Kaminari is turned cat for a couple days. Shinsou to the rescue.

Notes:

Here's another someone turned cat fluff/crack fic apart of my "Damn Kids Quirk" series. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Work Text:

“It’s late,” Hitoshi groaned, loud enough to be heard through the door as he rubbed sleep from his eyes with a yawn. He hardly got enough anyway, so the fact he’d been woken up in the first place irritated him. He flicked on his overhead light as he opened the door, wincing against the brightness. “This better be a good reason to wake—”

He stared down at the fluffy yellow cat at his feet.

“—me up.”

Hitoshi rubbed more sleep from his eyes, vigorously enough to see foreign, geometric shapes dancing behind his eyelids before blinking and confirming that, yes, there was a cat at his door.

“Shinsou!” Midoriya whisper-yelled as he speed-walked down the hall, his footsteps quiet. “I’m so sorry, he bolted as soon as I brought him inside.”

Hitoshi looked between Mirodiya and the sparkly, golden eyes of the cat beneath him. He frowned. “As much as I like cats,” Hitoshi started, “you know we aren’t allowed to have pets in the dorms. Let alone bringing in a stray—”

“It’s Kaminari!” Midoriya explained, wincing at how loud he shouted as it echoed down the hall. It took Hitoshi a moment to process his words.

“You’re sure it’s him.” Hitoshi said, raising a brow and squatting down to the cat's level. The golden eyes were unmistakable, a syrupy honey color he’d become familiar with. Not to mention, the tip of its left ear was black, the rest of its fur a steady, sunshine yellow.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure.” Midoriya scratched at the back of his head. “Plus, he zapped me when I woke him up.”

Right on que, the cat yawned. Eyes squeezing shut, ears pinning back, and mouth stretching wide with the tiniest little noise. Hitoshi had to hold himself back from grinning.

“I’ve been hit by a quirk before that turned me into a cat for a few days by a kid who doesn’t have control over his quirk yet. Maybe the same thing happened to Kaminari?” Continued Midoriya. “A lot of our classmates are allergic to cats, so Aizawa had me stay in Kacchan’s room to not expose other students, and so I had someone to keep an eye on me. It looks like he wants to stay with you.”

“Yeah, he can stay with me if he wants.” Hitoshi stood, gesturing for the cat, supposedly Kaminari, to enter his room. He turned back to Midoriya. “Have you told Aizawa?”

“No, not yet. I sort of don’t want to make him grumpy for classes tomorrow if I did wake him up this late. But I will in the morning!” Midoriya said, punctuated by a sudden yawn. “I know it’s rather late. Are you sure he can stay with you? I really don’t mind.”

Hitoshi shook his head. “It’s fine.” He looked back to cat-Kaminari and where he’d curled himself up on the corner of his bed. Hitoshi looked back to Midoriya with a hand on the door. “Just tell Aizawa in the morning.”

“Y-yes, of course.” Midoriya gave them both a small wave. “I’ll tell him first thing!”

Hitoshi gave him a curt nod before closing the door and turning to the new company for the night.

“How’d you manage this?” Hitoshi said to cat-Kaminari, sitting beside him on the bed and allowing himself to finally crack a smile. He held out his hand for cat-Kaminari to sniff, but instead was greeted with a forceful headbutt to the palm. Hitoshi rolled his eyes and proceeded to pet him. “And way to be subtle,” he said as cat-Kaminari began to purr.

They were a fresh couple, a few weeks at most, and were refraining from informing the class just yet. Kaminari rushing to Hitoshi’s room would have looked a little suspicious, even to Midoriya. But alas.

“You can still understand me, right?” Hitoshi asked as cat-Kaminari sprawled over his lap. He looked up to him with those bright, golden eyes and nodded.

“It’s strange to see a cat nod,” Hitoshi said with a slight chuckle. “But I’ve seen stranger.” Hitoshi continued to pet his boyfriend-turned-cat who was purring up a storm on his lap. “At least you’re cute.” Cute was an understatement, he was absolutely adorable, but it wasn’t in Hitoshi’s nature to admit something like that. “Now come on, I was asleep before I was rudely awakened,” he said, nudging cat-Kaminari off of him.

He walked over to flick off the overhead lights, his room resuming the deep purple darkness he liked to keep with a few dim LEDs placed around the room.

Purple was soothing, alright?

Cat-Kaminari strutted up the bed, finding himself a cozy place on Hitoshi’s pillow to lay. He curled up cutely into a donut shape, tail coming to tuck around his face as he rested his head.

Okay, now absolutely adorable was an understatement, but there wasn’t a better way to describe how cute the sight that made his heart squeeze. And how badly he felt the urge to just squeeze him. Cuteness aggression, maybe. Hitoshi settled himself back beneath his duvet, the lingering warmth beckoning him back to sleep.

“Wake me up if you need something, Denks,” Hitoshi said, making himself comfortable, the call of sleep already making his eyelids heavy. “And try not to suffocate me.”

~~~
Hitoshi woke up some time later a little dazed and confused. The familiar, rumbling weight on his chest made him initially think he was back at home, sleeping in his childhood bed, with his family's cats. But when he opened his eyes, he very much wasn’t at home, he was in his dorm.
Oh yeah, and his boyfriend was a fucking cat.
Fumbling for his phone and checking the time, it was only a few minutes until his alarm was set to go off anyway. Cat-Kaminari chirped awake and meandered into his lap as he pushed himself upright. He half-consciously began to pet on him as he opened up a few unread texts from Midoriya.
7:17 AM Midoriya: I told Aizawa-sensei what happened, he said he’s going to look into it to confirm it was the same kid.
7:18 AM Midoriya: He also said ‘he knows how to find me’ if you need anything, so I guess, do that!
7:18 AM Midoriya: I’ll be in my room after classes if you need any help! I never had a cat growing up so I’m not the most experienced, but I WAS turned into a cat that one time, so…
Hitoshi gave the final message a thumbs up reaction before tossing his phone aside and combing his fingers through his hair. He smirked down at the cat on his lap.
“Your fur is as messy as your bedhead,” Hitoshi said, smoothening some of the rowdy fur down. The touch was met with a tiny shock which made him flinch. “Guess you are the real Denki after all.”
Reluctantly, Hitoshi got up to get ready for his day of classes. He prepared his room the best he could on a whim for a cat to stay all day, putting out a water dish and making sure there wouldn’t be any obvious dangers (though, he was sure that if cat-Kaminari decided to chew some wires, he’d probably be fine) before heading to class.
Expectantly, his classmates were confused as to where Denki had gone, but Aizawa assured all was well. Hitoshi exchanged a knowing look with Midoriya at one point, being the only two fully aware that their classmate was, in fact, a cat for the time being.
A very important fact that Hitoshi had somehow forgotten by the time he returned to his dorm, late after classes and after training with Aizawa, beelining to the shower without noticing the yellow furball on his pillow.
Until he stepped out of his steamed up bathroom, very naked, and was very startled by the sudden yarwl~ from the floor.
“Ah, fuck—” Hitoshi hurried to find a towel to cover himself at least a little. Great, the first time his boyfriend got to see him butt-ass naked was while he was a cat.
When he returned with a towel tightly around his hips, Denki strolled up and began to rub his face over his exposed calves in a typical cat fashion.
Then Hitoshi realized he was looking up. “You little shit.”
Hitoshi hurried to get dressed after that.
Once dressed and no longer being strangely ogled by a cat, Hitoshi searched his room for any signs of destruction. No chewed wires, no obvious signs of claw marks. Really, the only trace of a cat being in his room at all was the absolute blanket of yellow fur littering his dark bed sheets. And clothes.
He settled himself into bed some time later, exhausted from the rigorous training he’d had with Aizawa (he really needed to get better at using his capture weapon, Aizawa did not let up easily), and Denki happily joined him. Subconsciously, Hitoshi began to pet him as he made himself comfortable on Hitoshi’s stomach.
“Maybe I should keep you like this,” Hitoshi said, words morphing into a yawn. “You’re so quiet.”
Met with a disgruntled growl, Hitoshi chuckled. “And cute. But I think I like my human boyfriend more.”
~~~

Hitoshi woke up sometime during the night suffocating and drenched in sweat, hardly able to move.

“Denks,” he groaned, shoving his now much larger and much less cat-like boyfriend off of his body. “Move.”

Denki whined sleepily, rolling off of Hitoshi’s body ungracefully. “You’re no fun,” he complained, then gasped. “I’m back!”

“Yeah yeah, now I gotta mourn my cat-boyfriend,” Hitoshi teased, combing his fingers through Denki’s hair as he pulled him closer for a soft, lazy kiss. He smirked when he pulled back.

“Or not, you still have ears.”
