Chapter 1: Intro

Chapter Text

It had been a very questionable morning for Dr James Wilson. He had been covering a shift down in the ER when an ex partner of his was brought in. However, this partner was not a girl like everyone would think. Back in his college days long before he met house he would sleep around with both guys and girls. Just so happened that this guy who came into the hospital happend to be one of them. Wilson knew deep down that he was not straight but always hid it away to protect himself. But today, his self preservation was destroyed by one single comment.

Wilson strolled down the corridor when he caught eyes with the man. “Oh god” he muttered before the clearly high guy loudly exclaimed to the nurses next to him. “Is that you James! Oh my god look at you! We used to have a thing back in college didn’t we Jimmy!” His face instantly turned red and all the whispers started and did not stop. He soon walked away from the situation and went to treat another patient hoping no one would say anything. But they did. Turns out Craig (the guy) had gone around telling anyone he could about him and Wilson’s fling. It wasn’t even a serious relationship, they were just having sex. James would not be able to walk an inch before a swarm of nurses asking all kinds of questions. As he eventually got back to his own department they didn't stop. He would overhear people walking past talking about it. He wanted to cry. There was one thing playing on his mind however, what would house think?

For the longest time Wilson had have feelings for his closest friend. Even through his marriages he would stay awake at night staring at the ceiling wondering what life could be like if they were together. But that would never happen. He ended up confiding in Dr Hadley- one of house's team members- about his sexuality struggles and she helped him realise he was in fact also bisexual. But oh god he refused to admit it even to himself. He picked up a pen and decided to get some paperwork done. Soon the whole hospital knew. He tried to hide but eventually had to leave his office to deal with patients. And even they knew.

He was fucked. But he couldn’t let him see that.

“Hey Wilson” a familiar voice popped up behind him…. Crap…. “Oh come on- what’s got you all miserable today?” He turned around to face the tall man. “Long story.” He continued to walk down the corridor. “Then tell me” house raised his cane to block Wilson’s path. He sighed. “Fine but not here.” House nodded with an intrigued expression. Luckily they weren't far from his office. They strolled casually as if their lives weren't going to change drastically in the next 24 hours.

“Well what? You're giving me a headache just looking at you” house plonked down into his chair. Wilson sat close by. He took a seat before groaning and rubbing his eyes “aghrrrr…..” House's eyebrows raised as he watched Wilson struggle to verbalize whatever was on his mind. "Out with it, Wilson.”

“an old… friend of mine came into the ER when I just so happened to be down there….” he sighed, messing with his hair. House's interest was piqued. "An old friend, huh? And what made this reunion so unbearable that you're now sitting in my office looking like you've lost your last marble?" He leaned forward, his elbows on the desk, intrigued by the story Wilson was clearly struggling to tell. “he quite loudly exclaimed how he knew me and some….. personal… business.. clearly off his face on morphine. now every single nurse is gossiping about me” House let out a loud, barking . "Personal business. Do tell, I must admit, I'm dying of curiosity now." He grinned mischievously, reveling in Wilson's discomfort. "Spill the beans, jimmy."
James hated that nickname. He groaned again, not enjoying houses banter “it’s nothing…. really…. just some stuff from back when I was younger and in med school”
"Younger and in med school. Hmm" House wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. "Let me guess, you were a wild man, sneaking into nurses' lockers and leaving love letters?" He chuckled, enjoying the game a little too much where Wilson just wanted to get up and leave. “no no… nothing like that… it’s complicated and I don’t expect you to understand” goddammit he couldn’t tell house. He just couldn’t. House scoffed, his grin never faltering. "Complicated? No That's just code for 'too embarrassing to share' " He leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together as he studied his long-time friend. "I'll tell you what, Wilson.” “whatttt” he groaned, already knowing where this was going. "I'll not only understand, I'll probably find it hilarious. So, spill. What's this complicated secret from your past that has everyone at the hospital gossiping?" House's eyes sparkled with amusement, eager to hear the story he was sure would be both shocking and entertaining. Crap…
