Room for Two

Summary:

Boq froze, his face instantly on fire. “I-I’m not blushing. I-I don’t even know what you're talking about,” he stammered, already regretting everything, the heat crawling up his neck and cheeks.

Fiyero chuckled, sitting up, clearly pleased. “Whatever you say, short-stack. But maybe one of these days, you’ll let me show you that life’s more than just books and blushing.”

OR

Boq didn’t expect his insufferable, charming roommate Fiyero to pull him out of his comfort zone, let alone his shell. But one wild night out turns into something more when they end up back at the dorm, and Fiyero’s teasing gives way to something neither of them can ignore.

Work Text:

Boq had thought that having his own room was a good sign for his start at Shiz. A fresh start, a place to think, to focus on his studies, away from the noise of his classmates and the constant pressure of singing and dancing. But now, everything felt like it was crumbling. Galinda barely noticed him anymore, too busy playing her endless games of affection with Elphaba, and Nessarose, well, she’d dumped him the moment she realized he wasn’t all that interested in her, she was making friends left and right now. Oh, and his room? Gone. He wasn’t alone anymore. He was sharing it with Fiyero.

The prince had transferred in late, after being kicked out of two other universities for reasons no one seemed to care about, at least not in public. Boq wasn’t sure exactly what Fiyero was supposed to be studying, but it didn’t seem to matter. Royalty didn’t have to try. He just floated through life with that lazy grin and a charm that had Boq feeling flustered every time he was around. Fiyero didn’t care about grades or rules, he cared about whatever was happening in the moment, which made it impossible for Boq to figure out whether to be irritated or just... embarrassed by him.

The thing was, Fiyero knew exactly how to push Boq’s buttons. Every time he walked into the room, he had that look on his face, the one that said, I know I’m annoying you, but I’m going to do it anyway. He’d stretch out across the room, tossing aside his jacket with a careless flick, like the world was his playground and everyone else was just there to watch him have fun. Boq, on the other hand, was a nervous mess. He was the kind of person who spent hours in the library, memorizing notes until he felt like his brain might explode. But Fiyero? He spent half his time flirting with everyone, making a mess of his papers, then somehow still pulling perfect marks with little more than a wink.

Today, Fiyero sauntered into the room after class, humming a tune under his breath. Boq was sitting at his desk, staring at his homework with the intensity of someone trying to force it to make sense.

“Hey, genius,” Fiyero said with a teasing lilt, plopping down on his bed in that completely unbothered way of his. “Still trying to figure out the meaning of life, or are you just getting caught up in all this nonsense?”

Boq’s hand jerked as he tried to smooth out a wrinkled sheet of notes, feeling the heat rush to his cheeks. “I-I’m just studying,” he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper. Oz, why does he have to talk to me like that?

Fiyero leaned back, hands behind his head, watching him with that irritatingly casual expression. “You’re studying, huh?” He smirked, eyes narrowing as he studied Boq, as if savoring every second of the other boy’s discomfort. “Is that what we're calling it now? I thought ‘studying’ meant actually paying attention to something... not just looking like you’re about to burst into flames because you’re thinking about what’s for dinner.”

Boq couldn’t help it. His face turned an even deeper shade of red, and he scrambled to gather his papers into some semblance of order. “I’m not-” he started, but then he froze when Fiyero laughed. It wasn’t a teasing laugh, but a low, amused laugh that caught Boq off guard.

“You’re nearly hopeless, Boq,” Fiyero said, leaning over the edge of Boq's bed now, his voice suddenly softer. “You know that, right?”

Boq’s heart skipped. He had no idea what to do with that. His entire body felt warm, like he was burning from the inside out. He’s messing with me. He has to be. No one... But something about the way Fiyero looked at him, so effortlessly disarming, made it hard to tell if the teasing was just that, teasing, or if it was something else entirely. Something softer.

“Yeah, well,” Boq muttered, unable to look up from his papers, “I don’t know how you do it. You don’t even care, do you?”

Fiyero stretched, yawning dramatically. “What’s there to care about?” he asked, casually tossing a pillow at Boq’s desk. “Life’s too short to be all... tense and stuffy. You could loosen up a bit, you know. You’re practically a human tension knot. Ever thought about just... relaxing?”

Boq’s eyes flicked up for a moment, catching Fiyero’s blue gaze, and his stomach did a strange, uncomfortable flip. “I-I don’t think I can relax,” Boq mumbled, flustered, and immediately regretted it.

Fiyero raised an eyebrow, a mischievous smile spreading across his face. “Oh, trust me, I’ve been watching you. You’re too easy to rattle. It’s almost like you want me to tease you. Makes it fun.”

Boq let out an awkward laugh, but his hands were shaking slightly as he tried to reorganize his notes, like the act of doing something so simple might give him a little relief from the way Fiyero was making him feel. “I don’t want-I’m not some project for you to entertain yourself with.”

“Is that so?” Fiyero’s voice lowered, now leaning just a bit closer, his eyes glinting with something like challenge. “Then why are you blushing so much?”

Boq froze, his face instantly on fire. “I-I’m not blushing. I-I don’t even know what you're talking about,” he stammered, already regretting everything, the heat crawling up his neck and cheeks.

Fiyero chuckled, sitting up, clearly pleased by the reaction. “Sure, sure. Whatever you say, short-stack. But maybe one of these days, you’ll let me show you that life’s more than just books and blushing.”

Boq swallowed hard, fighting the urge to sink into his chair. “I... I’m not sure I’m ready for that.” He immediately wished he hadn’t said it, but Fiyero was grinning like he’d just won a prize.

“Oh, you’re not ready yet?” Fiyero’s voice was teasing again, but this time there was something almost... fond about it. “Don’t worry, Boq. I’m patient. But don’t be surprised if I drag you into something fun when you least expect it.”

Fiyero just winked and leaned back again, totally unfazed, like he hadn’t just turned Boq’s world upside down with nothing more than a few words. “Take your time, roomie. But don’t take too long.”

And with that, Fiyero closed his eyes and slip back onto his bed, as if nothing had happened, leaving Boq sitting there, fighting a battle with his own racing thoughts.

“Fiyero?” Boq uttered after a couple minutes of contemplating and staring into space. “W-what if I wanted to do something now?”

Fiyero opened his eyes and looked at Boq, his smile faltering. “Now? Are you sure?”

Boq nodded, heart racing. “Y-yes.”

“Good,” Fiyero whispered, pushing off the bed, slowly walking over to Boq and crouching next to his desk chair.

“Why are you smiling like that?” Boq asked, staring at Fiyero's soft lips curling up into a smirk.

“What? This?” Fiyero touched his lip with the tip of his index finger. “I always smile like this.”

“That's not the smile you use on me.” Boq pointed out. Fiyero had this soft, gentle smile he used when he was around Galinda that looked like it might light up a room. Boq had always been a bit jealous of that. Fiyero never smiled that way at him. Not until now.

“Come with me, let’s go out on the town.” Fiyero sauntered away from the desk. “It's not every day I get to take out the most adorable boy at Shiz.” He reached out his hand for Boq to grab.

Boq's eyes dropped down, his cheeks flushed again. “Alright… I think I can do that.”

Fiyero grinned. “Atta boy, I know the best bar in town, you’ll love it!”

The streets of the city were bustling with people as they walked from the campus to the heart of the city. The sun had just started to set and a soft orange glow shone down on them, turning Fiyero's brown hair a lighter color. The prince was humming as they walked, like he didn’t have a care in the world.

They arrived at a building Boq usually ignored, ‘Saloon Shiz’ the sign read. The Saloon was stunning. Old Ozian architecture blended with modern flair to create a grand place that seemed timeless. The soft, romantic lights and the enchanting hues of the Saloon gave it an extraordinary atmosphere. The dance floor was filled with people having fun, dancing to some kind of strange music, and Boq watched them as they spun and leaped to the rhythm. It reminded him of dancing with Nessa at Ozdust, but he quickly tried to switch his train of thought, he had been trying to stop replaying his moments with Nessarose in his mind.

“Do you like the music?” Fiyero asked, his breath caressing the side of Boq’s head as he leaned in, and it sent shivers down Boq's spine. Boq didn't know what to say. He didn't know any of the words to the song that was playing but he liked it, it had a good rhythm to it. He liked the beat of it, it sounded familiar to him. Like a lullaby that would put him to sleep at night, it was soothing and gentle, but energetic and powerful. Like Fiyero.

“I don’t know the song, but I like it,” Boq said as Fiyero stepped away, letting him take his own seat at the bar. Boq took a seat on a stool, looking down at the counter, unsure of what he was doing. It was a lot to take in. He was out in the city with Fiyero. He felt like he was finally seeing the world with his eyes open for once.

“Then come on! Dance with me!” Fiyero grabbed his hand and tugged on it. Boq yelped as his body was pulled up from the stool. He couldn't say no to Fiyero at that point in time. He wanted to dance with him, he wanted to be close to him.

“Alright, alright!” Boq agreed, he was already caught up with Fiyero's energy and infectious smile. He felt himself getting dragged onto the dance floor. It was hot in there, the heat from the crowd, the sweat from everyone's bodies, Boq’s cheeks were on fire as he struggled to get the rhythm right.

He laughed and barely struggled for the rest of the night until Fiyero pulled him aside for a breather.

“Was that enough for you?” Fiyero panted, his hands resting on the back of his head. Boq could see Fiyero's body, his shirt was clinging to his torso and he had a sheen of sweat. He looked phenomenal, like something out of a dream.

“Is it over?” Boq felt a bit of regret.

“It could be, I can dance all night, but you're the one that's new at this. So it's up to you.” Fiyero said.

Boq looked around. The dance floor seemed to be getting less crowded now. People were taking their breaks. A couple in the corner caught Boq's eye. They were making out in public like no one was watching. He felt his stomach do a flip. Fiyero was still dancing, but more slowly now, he was swaying to the beat and seemed to be enjoying himself. Boq turned away from the couple. He didn’t want to look at anyone making out.

“Have you ever kissed someone?” Fiyero caught him off guard. “Not like a peck on the cheek or anything.”

“Y-yes.” Boq stuttered, “Nessa...Nessarose.”

“Have you every kissed a guy? I mean, before her?”

“No, why do you ask?” Boq wasn't sure what Fiyero wanted from him.

“Let’s get going Boq,” Fiyero pulled on his hand and smirked. “It’s curfew soon, and I know how you feel about curfew.”

Boq's stomach twisted a little as he felt Fiyero pull him along.

As the two started to walk back to their dorm, Fiyero turned to him. “Are you tired?”

“No.” Boq replied. It was too early and he didn’t want the night to end. He felt comfortable around Fiyero and the feeling of having fun was so new to him. “I like this.”

“Like what?” Fiyero gave him a lazy grin. “Walking?”

“No, just... being out, doing something.” Boq had no idea how to explain how he was feeling. “Having fun.”

“Then let’s have more fun,” Fiyero threw an arm over Boq's shoulder. “Let’s keep having fun tonight.”

“Is there more?” Boq sounded skeptical. “I thought we just danced.”

“Oh, Boq, you really are new to this whole social-life thing, aren’t you?” Fiyero sounded amused. “If you want there to be more, there can be more. There can always be more.”

They got back to the room and Fiyero flopped down on his bed, it was very grand compared to Boq's, with it's shimmering gold sheets. Boq stared down at him as he laid there, watching him like a hawk. “So, I’m guessing you want something to happen tonight?” Fiyero arched an eyebrow.

“Yes,” Boq mumbled. “I-I mean... maybe?” His stomach felt like there were a thousand butterflies in there. He was nervous and excited at the same time. “It depends.”

“It depends on what?” Fiyero sat up, looking at him with this serious expression. “Tell me, Boq. What's going on in that head of yours?”

Boq didn’t know how to answer that. He didn’t really know what was going on in his head. He had this feeling, this feeling that he wanted something to happen. But he wasn’t sure what that something was. Maybe a kiss, maybe more, maybe he wanted more than a kiss. He didn’t know.

“Was that a date? Did I just go on a date with you? Do we kiss now?” Boq blurted out before he could stop himself.

“Is that what you want? To kiss me?” Fiyero stared at him intently and Boq nodded, trying to hide his nervousness.

Boq felt a shiver run down his spine as Fiyero stood up and got close to him.

“Just relax,” Fiyero murmured softly in his ear, his breath sending shivers through Boq’s body. “If you don’t like this, just say so. I’ll stop.”

“I-” Boq swallowed hard. “I want to do this, I’m just nervous.”

“You're nervous? That's cute.” Fiyero sounded like he was teasing him. Boq looked back over his shoulder and Fiyero grinned at him. “Don't be nervous, you're going to be just fine. If you don't like something, all you have to do is let me know.”

Boq took a breath as Fiyero slowly started to kiss his neck. He closed his eyes and tried to focus on the feeling that Fiyero was giving him. It felt good, Fiyero kissing him. He kissed his way up Boq's neck, kissing him with these open mouth kisses that made Boq melt into a puddle. He moaned softly as Fiyero kissed him. It was unlike anything he had ever experienced before.

Fiyero's hand slid up under Boq's shirt, touching his skin as he kissed him and Boq arched his back. It felt so good to have Fiyero's skin touching his, even if it was through his shirt.

Fiyero seemed to notice as well and started to undress Boq.

Boq was nervous as he started to strip. He wasn’t really sure what would happen after that. But Fiyero didn't seem nervous at all as he stripped himself down as well, leaving them both standing there in their underpants. Even his undergarments are cooler than mine… Boq thought, suddenly feeling how hot his face was as he stared at Fiyero’s navy briefs.

“Are you okay?” Fiyero asked as Boq stared at him. Boq nodded and Fiyero smiled back. “Good. Let’s have some fun then, okay?” He said before leaning forward to kiss Boq again. His hands sliding down Boq’s sides, feeling Boq’s skin.

Boq had a hard time focusing. He wanted to have fun but he didn't really know how to do that. So he just closed his eyes and let Fiyero guide him through everything.

Fiyero seemed to know what he was doing, so Boq let him touch him. He slowly let Fiyero take his hand and lead him to the bed, pulling him down onto the mattress.

Boq felt his heart beating faster as Fiyero started to kiss him again. He moaned into Fiyero’s mouth and Fiyero groaned back into his mouth. It sounded like he really wanted to be there. Like he was really enjoying this.

He pushed Boq back until he was lying under him on his bed, looking up at him with that soft smile of his. He kissed Boq again, rolling his hips into Boq and Boq gasped.

“F-Fiyero,” Boq stammered as Fiyero rolled his hips again.

“Hm?” Fiyero hummed against his lips.

“T-touch me, more, I mean-” Boq tried to say something, anything.

“Like this?” Fiyero laughed against Boq's mouth, reaching down between their bodies to cup Boq through the material of his underpants.

“Yes.” Boq moaned. “Like that.”

“What do you want me to do?” Fiyero licked Boq's lips, his hand rubbing circles into Boq’s erection.

“More,” Boq gasped as Fiyero squeezed him. “I-I want you.”

“Mm,” Fiyero mumbled softly, licking his way down Boq's jaw. “How about this?”

He slid a hand under Boq's briefs and Boq immediately tensed up. He wasn’t used to this. He hadn’t really ever done it like this before. He was always kind of awkward and unsure of what to do, but Fiyero seemed sure of himself.

Fiyero gently stroked him, kissing Boq as he worked his hand up and down his cock. Boq moaned into his mouth and he seemed to really enjoy that, kissing Boq even deeper as he touched him.

Boq felt Fiyero pull his boxers off and toss them aside, and then he felt his hand again, stroking him. This time he seemed to know what to do. He started off slow, but as Boq got closer, he seemed to start moving faster. Boq felt him spitting in his hand, slickening him up and Boq almost came there.

But Fiyero stopped and leaned in to kiss him. “You want more?”

“Yes,” Boq said, gasping for air. He was so close and he just wanted to come.

“Then ask me.” Fiyero smirked at him.

“I can’t...” Boq couldn't just ask him to stick his dick in him. He wasn't that confident and he really didn’t know if he could do that.

Fiyero leaned in, kissing him again, licking at his mouth and Boq felt himself opening to him.

“I’ll never know if you don’t ask,” Fiyero breathed, his mouth working over Boq’s.

“I... I-I want you to fuck me.”

“That’s what I like to hear,” Fiyero said with a smirk as he sat up and nudged Boq back, laying him with his back against the sheets. Boq turned as Fiyero stepped away for a moment and came back with a bottle of clear liquid he squeezed onto his fingers. Lube, Boq guessed.

Fiyero ran his hand up Boq's thighs and Boq shivered as he felt the prince’s fingers slide against his ass. He didn’t protest when he started to finger him, though Boq was a bit shocked at how Fiyero could just take control like that. Boq had never really been in control of any situation, but it felt nice to have someone else take control to pleasure him and him only.

It only took a couple seconds for Boq’s hole to relax enough for Fiyero to start stretching him open. “Oh, you're tight,” Fiyero laughed as he started to play with Boq, “But I'll loosen you up.”

Boq nodded as Fiyero pushed his fingers in deeper. It felt nice, Fiyero stretching him open like that.

“I’m ready,” Boq whispered when he felt himself relax.

“Good.” Fiyero positioned himself at Boq's hole and Boq closed his eyes as he pushed inside of him. It felt tight, but he knew it would get better after a while. “Is that okay?” Fiyero breathed in his ear.

Boq nodded and let out a soft moan as Fiyero thrust inside of him, working his way deeper inside of Boq with each push. Finally, after a couple minutes, Fiyero bottomed out inside Boq and he felt a warmth spread through his body as he settled in.

“You feel so good,” Fiyero whispered as he wrapped an arm under Boq, holding him close to him as he started thrusting. “I knew you'd be tight.”

Boq moaned as he felt himself get pushed up onto his toes from the thrust, and he let his head fall back against Fiyero’s shoulder, giving a little gasp as Fiyero hit a spot inside him.

“Keep making those little noises and I'll be addicted to them, Boq.” Fiyero teased as he thrust in harder.

Boq whined. He liked that idea, having Fiyero inside of him whenever he wanted. Having Fiyero in his bed whenever he wanted to have him.

Boq let Fiyero pick up the pace, trusting him to guide him through this as he had earlier.

He continued moaning, trying to let Fiyero know how good he was making him feel. It seemed to work as Fiyero fucked into him harder and faster. He let out a low moan of his own as he started to pick up the speed.

Then Fiyero pulled his fingers out and brought his lips to Boq’s ear, murmuring against the sensitive skin there. “I think it's quite time for me to make you feel even better, don't you?”

“Y-yes,” Boq agreed, nodding, the idea of Fiyero fucking him making his heart race. “Yes, yes, I want that.”

He felt Fiyero push himself in deeper before pulling back out. Then he was thrusting into Boq. He started with slow, gentle thrusts, letting Boq get used to the feeling of him there. Boq gasped each time he felt Fiyero's cock push deeper into him, his body trying to adjust to the feeling.

But after a moment he relaxed and Fiyero let out a groan as Boq clenched around his cock.

“Tighter,” Fiyero groaned into his ear as he continued to fuck him. “Can you do that again?” He sounded like he was close and that was enough for Boq to do it again.

This time Fiyero cried out softly and Boq felt the prince's cock swell inside him, like it was getting even bigger.

“Fuck, Boq,” Fiyero gritted out between his teeth. “You feel so good.”

Boq smiled at that and he clenched again. Fiyero started moving faster now. His thrusts coming faster and harder as he got closer to the edge. Boq held him close and kissed him as Fiyero came inside of him with a soft cry. Boq could feel the warmth spreading through his body and he let out a moan as he felt himself climax.

Fiyero pulled out of Boq slowly, letting him relax, and then the prince slid a hand down between his legs and started stroking his cock again. Boq came hard, arching his back up into Fiyero as his balls drew up into his body. Fiyero milked him through his orgasm and Boq panted against his shoulder as he felt himself come down.

He smiled as Fiyero pulled him close, nuzzling into his neck as the prince started kissing him again.

Boq let out a soft sigh and smiled as he closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of Fiyero’s lips against his skin.

“Are you having fun?” Fiyero murmured in his ear.

“Yes,” Boq whispered, his breath slightly labored, “I'm just not used to it.”

Fiyero laughed and kissed his jaw. “Well, I'm glad.” He eventually got up and walked over to the bathroom to clean himself up. Boq stayed on the bed, listening to the sound of the running water coming from the bathroom.

He couldn’t help but grin as he thought about what just happened. He had just fucked Fiyero. He didn't even know he wanted to. But it felt right, like that was what he was meant to do with the prince. He thought about what the prince had said to him, and what thoughts went unsaid.

Boq got up too and started cleaning himself up when Fiyero walked out of the bathroom.

“Fiyero, you do care, don’t you? You really do.”

Fiyero looked at him with wide eyes, like he had forgotten Boq was capable of forming coherent sentences.

“Care about what? Having fun? Absolutely.”

“That’s not what I meant,” Boq started to say. “I was talking about, well everything, me, the students here, yourself. You’re not so brainless as everyone thinks, are you?”

“No, I guess not,” Fiyero admitted, “But it’s fun to coast through life like that. To pretend I’m clueless when I’m not. It’s a way to distract myself.”

“From what?” Boq asked, wanting to know more about the prince.

“From the truth, that I don’t really care about anything.”

“That’s not true,” Boq insisted. “You do care, you care about everything. If you didn’t you wouldn’t be here, doing this, with me.”

Fiyero looked surprised.

Boq stood up, reaching out to pull Fiyero closer to him. “You’re my friend and my roommate and now I’m having a sexual relationship with you, so that’s something at least.”

“Well,” Fiyero chuckled, “That is something, I guess.”

“And it feels good,” Boq murmured, leaning up to kiss him.

“Yeah, it does.” Fiyero agreed before kissing him back.

It was like that, the two of them kissing and touching each other. Boq never felt so alive. He felt like he was really living, really doing something for once.

It felt nice and it was fun to pretend that everything else didn’t matter.

Boq's heart skipped a beat as he pulled Fiyero into his arms. It felt right to do so. Like that was where he belonged.

Fiyero nuzzled into Boq and smiled against his chest.

“S-so...do I have to plan the next date? Nessa never really liked me to do that, but I can plan a date, if you want.” Boq offered suddenly.

“You want to go on date? Like an actual one?” Fiyero arched an eyebrow. “Are you asking me out?”

“Yes, I suppose I am.” Boq blushed as he felt his cheeks grow hot. “It’s not every day I ask out a prince. Especially the prince I live with.”

“Well, then I’d say you're doing a pretty good job.” Fiyero smiled before pulling him close again. “It’s not everyday a cute munchkin asks me out.”

Boq blushed, and covered his face with a pillow.

Fiyero chuckled and laid down on the bed next to Boq.

“Well, maybe we can plan a date.” Fiyero suggested, “Or maybe we’ll just keep fucking around like this.” He grinned as he snuggled in closer to Boq. “I mean, we’re already naked.”

Boq rolled his eyes good naturedly. He had a feeling that was going to be his life with Fiyero, just rolling with whatever the prince wanted. And he was fine with that.

Because it felt like it was going somewhere good. Somewhere fun, maybe even somewhere special.

“I think we have time to do both,” Boq decided, grinning back at Fiyero.
