Nowhere To Run

Summary:

She could swear that right now, all those whispered words and giggled secrets suddenly felt meaningless, as if it were nothing but a sweet dream or a fruitless and unreachable wish. Maybe she knew from the start that hoping to be loved for once was too much to ask for. Silver Wolf never felt right being with anyone before, and she thought that she just wasn’t made for love for a long time, until meeting Firefly. But working with fate means having to play its dirty games, and she found herself lacking the experience of a game for the first time.

Maybe because the thing being played with was her heart this time, and this was some kind of game that she must admit, she is not fond of.

Or

silverfly but Firefly is shamefully bad at feelings

Work Text:

She's falling for a few minutes by now.

It's been long ever since she felt the urge to do this. To get on top of the highest buildings in Punklorde and jump down without thinking. To feel the air hit her back as she falls down in city lights to a never-ending void of illumination that was hurting her eyes, only hoping to escape the emptiness she felt inside herself. It's shouldn't be a big deal, but she cannot bring herself to make it feel normal. She knew it would happen sooner or later, so why? Why was she making it a problem much bigger than it really was? She wanted things to be like it used to.

If she could, she'd forget this. She would throw it away.

It's very funny how things ended, she thinks. Well, not funny, just ironic, maybe. It made her feel something she hasn’t in a long while. She sighs, bringing back a few memories she was trying to push away. 'Accident.' The word tastes bitter in her tongue. It was an accident. A mistake. They used to be so close, with the other girl being the only one who played with her when she could, she truly gave Silver Wolf all her attention, and yet... Silver Wolf pushed her away. Just like everyone else in her life that got too close. She felt like a teenager. Childish, even. She hasn't answered any of the hunters back for a few days by now, just walking in the shadows of Punklorde, eating on instant noodles restaurants since she couldn't go shopping in the mall due to her bad reputation around here.

She just lives her life like it was back in her younger days. Alone. When was the last time she ran away like this? She can't remember. But it has its own comfort. Fall like this, so freely, with no one to intervene, no one to tell her that she wasn't thinking straight, no one to pretend to care about how she is doing or if she is okay, and specially no one to tell her that their feeling towards her were caused by an accident, that it was nothing more than a mistake.

The way that this popped up in her mind, full of hatred, gave her tongue a bad taste. She fucking missed her. So badly it was shameful. She missed her even after everything she had been told. Even after promising to keep distance, she knew deep down that she wouldn't, because she misses her. And at some point, if seeing her isn't enough, something will be done about it. Oh, and it will.

She opens her eyes at the thought, watching the city lights that surrounded her, small little colorful dots that faded away with distance. It was too superficial, like everything else in Punklorde.

She finds herself missing the darkness of her room, or the basic lightning of her home.

 Oh.

 Home.

Right. The stellaron hunters. Her family.

Blade must be sickly worried; he probably will give her the scold of her life when she gets back. Even though, right now, she doesn't know when that will happen. If that happens. What if Elio kicks her out for being too immature? Because choosing between her and Firefly was easy. Firefly obviously would be the one to stay if it ever came to that point. She was more trustworthy, didn't argue with the other members, didn't annoy everyone else and besides all, she can be gentle and kind. Even at a home like the Stellaron Hunters, the place for the broken souls and disturbed minds.

Then there is Kafka, who probably isn't really worried about her since she can't truly fear for her safety, but at least she must be missing her too, right? She wonders if she cleaned up her room while she's been out like she used to do when Silver Wolf left for longer missions.

And Elio. Silver Wolf didn't know what to expect from them. Maybe they missed her company, the way she would spend time playing around with them and caressing their fur. Maybe they had already foreseen the future to know when she comes back, or at least to give her some time alone until they send Blade or Kafka to get her ass back.

She didn't dare to think about Firefly, she would not cross that line and allow herself to wonder if Firefly missed her or not, not this time. Not now that she learnt her lesson. She groans loudly but the sound got muffled by the air around her. She types in the terminal in her wrist, she types a few coordinates and in no time, she was up again in the building, having teleported herself back up there.

She walks towards the edge again, and instead of jumping, this time she sat on it and swings her legs in the air. The cold artificial breeze hugs her body tightly, just another reminder of how lonely she is right now. Another reminder that the warm hug that used to embrace her is no longer there to calm her nerves, or to kiss her fears and insecurities away.

Her mind wanders to a dangerous memory.

"And your feelings? You were just confused because I ‘was being nice to you’? You can lie better than that. Don’t be delusional, now." Her voice came in a sarcastic bitter tone. She could tell she made the girl's blood boil by the way her eyes widened and a soft annoyed gasp scaped the knight’s mouth.

"What do you even know about feelings anyway?" She hisses out, her tone was almost cold. That made Silver Wolf feel intimidated somehow. Making all her attitude disappear. "Starting with...us... this- it was an accident. That day, on the rain... it was a mistake. I never meant to say anything I said seriously."

Her sarcastic expression falter at those words, as if her ears were still processing the words she heard, as the other girl kept talking.

"It was nothing but a mere whim. Curiosity, even." She sounded tired, almost conflicted, as she sighed, looking at Silver Wolf. She could feel Firefly’s glare burning in her skin, but she did not dare looking back. “I just wanted someone to fool around with, it wasn’t supposed to get serious. I thought you knew that.”

“I...” The words died in her mouth.

 “This was a mistake.”

There is an awkward heavy silence between the two of them. The knight’s glance moves down to the ground as well.

This wasn’t fair. She should have said that from the beginning. For Aeon’s sake, how was that just... fooling around? That’s what their relationship was? Some mindless fun? Firefly that knew that there was more to this. There was more to it. It had to. The silver haired girl eye’s move up to study her expression as she waits for something.

 Anything.

But Firefly stands up there in silence until she hesitantly stars to move and steps off of the place quietly. Silver Wolf wasn't anywhere around to really register the sudden distance between them. Her mind spinning with... whatever bullshit that was. Once Firefly was out of reach, she lets off a heavy sigh that she didn’t even know she was holding.

“Nothing but a mere whim.” She repeats, her voice a little shaky. This was far from her usual behavior, but hell, how could someone act as if nothing happened after hearing this from the person they had slowly been growing soft for?

She is left there as she can hear Firefly's steps echoing in the hallway, until the sound got too far for her ears to reach. Her eyes never leave the ground. Her nails finally stop digging into her palm and she doesn't pay any mind to the blood that came out of her hand. When she even started clenching her fingers?

'A mistake', she echoes quietly. This had to be some kind of unfunny joke. She looks back now and glance towards the direction that the other girl just left. The empty hallway leaving an uneasy feeling swallow her body.

She bites her bottom lip with rage, frowning at the memory as she quickly pushes it aside, not wanting to think about it right now.

Instead, she grabs her phone and look at her DM’s, feeling a pang of guilt as she notices Blade had actually sent a message for her.

Blade used his own phone. This was like, a once in a century event. And it was because of her. She slowly starts typing an answer to his stupidly short messages.

           Bla(die)

           > Kid.

              Where.  Are you. ?

              Kafka is.Worried.

She couldn’t help but laugh at his ridiculous attempt at using the phone. For Aeons, he couldn’t do that to save his life. Even though he probably wouldn’t even if he knew how to.

But as she reads the message again, she raises an eyebrow. Huh. Kafka is worried? She found that utterly impossible to believe. Mainly because Kafka can’t be truly worried. She feels no fear, so it made no sense that she feared for her safety.

Her heart warms up a bit at the way Blade just probably was trying to hide the fact that the one worried is him. Not that she would let him, or any other hunter, know that.

 “Dumbass...”

She types out a simple “im ok dw” and moves to Kafka’s chat, reading her messages then.

   The woman. (don’t pick up)

           > Wolfie.

Get back soon. Bladie looks like a dog sitting against the door of your room.

She chuckles at the picture Kafka sent of Blade hugging his sword to his chest as he takes a nap in the door of her room. He could be so scary sometimes, just to be found in such an exposing position.

She sighs, rolling her eyes in reluctance as she saw that Elio has also sent a message to her, and her body immediately tenses up, hesitating. After all, this person only talked to her when things were wrong. Or when he was hungry and he had foreseen that she’d be the less busy stellaron hunter and demanded her to give them their cat food. It’s just how the leader works, she knows it’s not his fault.  She opens the chat to read it.

‘Hey. Are you coming back soon?'

She types back to the leader, trying to think of anything reasonable.

‘yepp.’

At some point. She just doesn’t feel ready to go back now.

Or that’s what she thought, because when she hears that familiar sound of flames burning in the air and the loud noise of metal hitting the ground, she freezes. The hacker’s eyes stare down at the buildings, her throat going dry as her fist clenches by the side of her body. The small codes that fly up in the air along with a few ADs in some holograms suddenly becomes blurred in her vision as soon as her breath hitches.

She can hear the faint sound of the now way lighter footsteps approaching her, but stopping at some respectful distance.

And then silence falls in. There’s a heavy tension in the air of unspoken words and unsolved matters. But none of them say anything.

“Let me guess.” The genius starts, smirking with irony. “Elio sent you?”

There’s silence again, with hesitation coming from the knight’s part now. It makes Silver Wolf mentally groan, but she resists the urge to.

“No.” The answer takes the younger stellaron hunter by surprise, but she keeps facing the horizon rather than talking to the girl face-to-face. “I came here because I wanted to talk to you.” The voice of the girl softens, and it comes in a more pleading tone now. “Because I needed to talk to you. I mean... we can’t just... pretend that nothing happened, right?”

“And what happened? I don’t seem to remember.” She almost hisses out, causing the other woman to sigh heavily and give a step closer.

“Please, Wolfie.”

Silver Wolf closes her eyes at the nickname, her fingers clenching a little harder.

“What do you want?” She crosses her arms, turning around to face the girl.

Firefly looked at her with surprise, the eyes slightly wide, the taller girl scans Silver Wolf’s face, and there’s almost relief on her expression. Almost. She looked conflicted more than anything. The hacker felt her heart twist a little at that.

“I just...” Firefly glances at the ground, and then up at her again. “I wanted to say I’m sorry.” She softens, looking at Silver Wolf with guilt. “I... I said a lot of hurtful things that day. Things that...” She stops, playing with her fingers now.

 Silver Wolf raises an eyebrow.

 “Things that...?”

Firefly looks up at her, and her heart skips a beat at the way Firefly looks at her.

“Things that aren’t true, that I don’t really mean.”

Firefly looked kind of vulnerable. And it was beautiful in a sort of way. Silver Wolf cursed herself mentally for paying attention to this right now.

Silence falls between them as the hacker studies the other girl’s expression with care, wanting her to feel pressured somehow, to see if she would spill out something else. And it seemed to work, because when her stare hardened Firefly started again.

“It wasn’t a mistake.” Her voice comes barely above a whisper, she takes a step closer again. “I don’t regret kissing you.”

Silver Wolf blushes slightly, looking away a bit surprised, she wasn’t expecting that.

 It’s not unwelcomed, though.

“Yeah, and? You expect me to just forgive you?” She smiles with irony, scoffing, and the other girl breathes out, seeming to have expected this.

“I don’t expect you to just forgive me, but... please, Silver Wolf. ”

Firefly gives one last step her way, hesitating before taking her hand and hold it carefully; as if the hacker was made of porcelain and could break to the lightest touch. She intertwined their fingers and caressed the back of her hand with her thumb gently. Her eyes stare into Silver Wolf’s very soul, and the girl finds herself relishing the touch.

“I found out that... seeing you walk away hurts me more than I thought it would.” She whispers again, looking at her hands holding the other girl’s hand. “Time is something I treasure very much. I couldn’t afford to spend much more away from you.” She looks up at the genius again, her smile is weak.

Silver Wolf feels a strange urge to hug the girl. But she doesn’t.

“Why?” She mutters, staring at the girl with curiosity.

Now it’s Firefly’s turn to blush, she opens her mouth and close it a few times, before speaking.

“You are very dear to me.”

“ Very dear .” The girl mocks, and the knight closes her eyes.

“I’m saying I love you.” She says, a little more playful, in a way that makes Silver Wolf’s heart ache.

“Would you really say that stuff to me if you did?”

Firefly closes her eyes, biting her lip.

“I was scared. I know it doesn’t justify my actions, but,” She squeezes her hand, opening her eyes to look at it again. “It was scary. Things changed suddenly, and I didn’t want us to get tangled in problems because I just care about you so much, I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Talk about venting, huh.” She smiles, and Firefly giggles, shaking her head. “Well... I guess you learned something.”

 Firefly squeezes her hand again.

“Uh-huh. Just that? Don’t you have anything else to say?”

 “Do I?” She smirks.

The knight huffs, smiling. She glances from their hands up to her eyes, and they fall in a silence, comfortable one this time.

“I understand you, I guess. I just need some time to get over that bitter stuff.” The hacker says, squeezing her hand back.

“...Excuse me?” Firefly frowns, looking quite confused.

“What?” Silver Wolf answers in the same confused tone. “I said i just need a time to think it through.”

“Why?” She smiles nervously. “Do you really need time? I mean, come on. Look at us right now. We don’t need time.”

“I do need time.” The hacker repeats, an upsetting tone in her voice. “I need to think things through. Maybe you do too.”

“I have thought enough, and haven’t you too? Why do you need time? What you’re even going to think about?” She says with an upsetting tone. This... wasn’t like Firefly at all. Firefly is always so comprehensive and understanding — so why is the knight behaving this way?

“Firefly, that’s not how it works.” She answers, a bit apprehensive. Firefly was usually more emotional than her? Yes, but this isn’t just emotional, that's discarding any rationality, and as emotional as Firefly could be, she was still a smart girl.

This wasn’t like her to act this way.

  What are you afraid of?

Are you afraid of the dark?

Are you afraid of being abandoned again? Of being left alone to rot by yourself? Is it that your heart aches so much to be with someone, but you’re scared of what it could mean to let yourself get attached again?

You are smarter than this; you know better. Or did you forget? Did you forget how it was to be left in the loneliness of the universe? Left alone to reminisce about how meaningless life could be when you lack a purpose to follow?

Molten Knight. What is it that you truly want?

Are you searching to become human, with all its burdens? Or to merely feel human?

Firefly stares at the girl with something that looks like hesitation; despair. It makes Silver Wolf’s heart aches, for some reason. Seeing Firefly act this way was a sight she never thought she’d see, and she hates every second of it with all her being.

“It doesn’t need to work like that. You can make your own way out of this-” She tries again, but Silver Wolf cuts her

“I need the time to think, okay? It would do you good if you just stepped back for a while too, you know? You’re being like, crazy dense right now.” She says with a hint of suspicion to her voice, her hands moving to her pockets as she buries them there.

“Why do you need so much time away from me? You can say you just don’t want to spend it with me.” Firefly whispers, her voice moving to something more irritated, frustrated even.

“That’s not- That's not the point! I want to!” She answers with frustration. “I do want to mess around with you or whatever, but I need time to just... figure out a few things.”

Firefly let go of her hand, and she almost regret saying that.

“Ok.” She answers half-heartedly, and it goes down through the hacker’s throat as if she was swallowing a flower with thorns. “Yeah, ok.”

She didn’t know what else to say now. She just stood there, in silence. And yet again, she watches Firefly leave without a word.

The knight swings her hand in the air, holding the device as she brings it closer to her chest. The flames that cover her body are a distant memory of the warm of her hands on Silver Wolf’s, and it hurts her more than what she’s willing to admit.

What’s up with this girl... ’ She scoffs, sitting by the edge of that building again.

Her breathing slows down and she can hear her slow heartbeat. The artificial breeze blows through her ears and caress her skin. When her grayish eyes open, she throws herself from the building yet again, a quiet sigh that was silenced by the sound of the wind covering her body as she falls from the building.

And she is in peace, at last.

-

Firefly feels some sort of pain in her chest that makes her collapse in the ground as soon as she arrives in her room and closes the door. She closes her eyes tightly and breaths in and out hardly, barely any air really fills her lungs as her fingers grip her clothes tightly by her chest, feeling a bunch of things at the same time.

Overwhelming tiredness; weirdness; physical and emotional pain; anxiety; love.

Love.

Firefly loved Silver Wolf. But what was she supposed to do with it? Amongst all the battles she fought over her years, none of them had been like this, and she found herself losing this one.

Whenever Silver Wolf was away from her, everything was so grayer and more annoying. She found herself wishing that the other girl would be with her all the time, and if she wasn’t thinking about that, Firefly was thinking about what the hacker would say if she was there, what kind of jokes she would pull out, what kind of troubles she would get themselves into.

Firefly can’t do this, for some reason. She is used to feeling weak, but it's just overwhelming now. It stung, pulled her heartstrings, and a voice whispered in her head what she must do, and she knows that everything that voice whispers is merely getting on Silver Wolf’s path.

“Time.” She murmurs. Firefly can give Silver Wolf that. All the time she wants.

Probably.

She had screwed up once in their first argument, she never meant those words to Silver Wolf, out of all people. She never regretted anything of what they had. She loved every second she spent with the girl, but back then she was so afraid of being alone again that she pulled Silver Wolf away before she could go away herself. It was dumb, she knows, but she didn’t feel like she had a choice when Silver Wolf could be so frustrating at times, when she would disappear without a trace like this.

The knight sighs, opening her eyes to stare in the ceiling. There were a few fairy lights falling from the top and ending in the middle of the room, not high enough for her head to reach, but Blade often found himself tangled on those. The colors were a dim and weak green tone. A color that reflected perfectly how she felt right now. Hollow.

When did she become so dependent? It was so unlike her to need someone else to live a decent life. She almost feels angry at Silver Wolf for being able to let her walk away.

When she did that, she was hoping for some, any, interruption. That Firefly would hold her and not let her go. But when Silver Wolf had let her go so easily, Firefly felt some sort of fear. Of being abandoned. That perhaps, her presence wasn’t that important at all to the hacker, that she was just one of the hundreds of people that Silver Wolf could talk to and bother all the time.

Firefly groans, hitting her head softly against the wall.

She felt immature. Like a kid who doesn’t know how to deal with their emotions.

Maybe she did need some time to think, after all. To think about this feeling, to process this unhealthy craving of Silver Wolf’s attention.

“Why do you need so much time away from me? You can say you just don’t want to waste your time with me.” Firefly whispers, her voice moving to something more irritated, frustrated even.

“That’s not- That's not the point! I want to!” She answers with frustration. “I do want to mess around with you or whatever, but I need time to just... figure out a few things.”

She breaths out a strangled exhale, closing her eyes.

“I want to!”

“For how long, though?” The knight murmurs, playing with the dispositive in her fingers. She looks away from it.

What if Firefly gave her too much time, and with time, she realized that Firefly is not good enough for her? She glances around her room, through the gifts the stellaron hunters gave to her past the years working together. A collection of plushies that Silver Wolf won in a machine. She smiles at the thought that even in such a mundane task for the hacker, she found herself giving her reward to Firefly.

...A gift.

Huh.

-

When Silver Wolf finally comes back to her room, she finds a note on top of her bed, tied to a small box.

‘Please, come see me when you arrive. If you feel like it.’

The hacker raises an eyebrow in curiosity. The handwriting was Firefly’s, no doubt. She appreciated the fact that she had given her the space she asked for, but was also showing her that if she wanted to talk, she would be waiting. Even though, Silver Wolf isn’t sure if Firefly is ready for this kind of conversation.

She shakes her thoughts away, glancing curiously at the box. When she opens it, her heart skips a beat.

An origami flower. Two of them. One was a sunflower and the other one was a blue rose. She felt skeptical, Silver Wolf knew nothing about flowers. She quickly reaches her phone to do a little research, and when she is finished, her stomach boils with a mixture of embarrassment and cringe. Firefly could be so corny sometimes, she swears.

She places the sunflower near a picture she has with Blade and Kafka where Blade was sleeping and they were drawing in his face. And the small blue rose, she held tight, making her way into the familiar path.

They stare at each other in silence.

Firefly acknowledges the blue origami rose in her hands, and she looked flustered. Neither of them knew where to start from.

“What was that, in Punklorde?” Silver Wolf asks bluntly, looking at her with suspicion.

Firefly sighs, fidgeting in her bed and playing with her fingers. “If I’m being honest... I don’t know.”

“That’s convenient.” The hacker snorts, raising an eyebrow.

“Isn’t it?” She chuckles humorlessly, looking at the blue rose in her hand. “I guess... I was just scared.”

“Scared?” Silver Wolf repeats, the confusion is written all over her face, as if she demanded an elaboration, but when Firefly simply nods, she rolls her eyes. “Okay, but, scared of what?”

“Losing you.” Firefly glances up from the rose to Silver Wolf’s eyes.

There was a raw emotion in the way she looked at her. A softness and a hint of fear that Silver Wolf doesn’t hear often in Firefly’s voice. Or, never had.

“Losing me?”

“Yes.” The knight flushes ever so slightly, her cheeks growing warmer. “I was afraid that if you spent too long away from me, you’d realize I am just a boring common girl.”

Silver Wolf stared at her for a few seconds in dull silence, trying to read her expression to catch on any lies; but she failed because she was getting distracted by how disturbingly distracting her eyes were, staring at her like that.

“You’re a silly girl, you know that?” She sighs, crossing her arms. “You’re a lot of this, Firefly. Dense, too much, shy, cute, determined, strong, but one thing you definitely are not, is common.” She waves her hand in dismiss in the air. “Like, I am preeetty sure I wouldn’t just bump into another stellaron hunter in the cosmos that has such entertaining features. You are from a planet that had been destroyed. I’m sorry but, that’s literally something very uncommon.”

“You think I’m cute?” Firefly muses, a hint of teasing in her voice, that makes Silver Wolf roll her eyes.

“That’s seriously what you paid attention to?” She says with an unfazed expression, her voice covered in faux annoyance. It makes Firefly giggle, and eventually, Silver Wolf herself chuckle. “You’re impossible.”

“What have I done, now?” Firefly laughs softly, shrugging. “I just asked a question, and a question which you didn’t answer.” She smiles sheepishly, giving Silver Wolf some sort of vulnerable glance.

“Yes. I think you’re cute.” The hacker shakes her head with some amusement to her voice. Firefly could be stubborn sometimes; kind of endearing if you ask her.

Satisfied with her answer, Firefly continues then.

“For as much as I would love to keep the conversation light, I guess I must apologize for the way I behaved back in that day, too.” She says quietly, playing with her own fingers. “I was afraid, but... I was also very immature, and I shouldn’t have tried to pressure you when you said you needed space and time to think.”

Silver Wolf glances at her, nodding understandingly. “Seems like you thought about it too.”

“Honestly? I can’t really think about anything that isn’t you.” She admits, kind of embarrassed. It’s not really something she is proud of, but she can’t seem to wrap her head about something else. “I’m sorry.”

“You’re being corny again.” She groans, looking away with what looked like a hint of a red hue in her chubby cheeks. Firefly laughs at the harmless commentary.

“I can’t help it.” The knight shrugs, smiling softly.

“The conversation isn’t over.” She glances at Firefly again, and before she could ask what she wanted to discuss, Silver Wolf throws the origami flower in her direction, letting the flower lay between them. “So.”

Firefly looks at the flower and then at Silver Wolf. “So...?”

“Don’t play dumb with me. I know what that means.” She furrows her brow, her arms gripping the sheets tightly as she gives Firefly a half playful, half serious stare.

“And if you know, and decided to come here with this, what are you trying to tell me, Wolfie?”

The girl sulks at Firefly teasing answer, her soft smile making it really hard for her to pretend to be annoyed by it, so she just sighs and smiles as well, some sort of shy smile.

“I picked one randomly.” She shrugs, which Firefly groans and crosses her arms to.

“No, you didn’t!” She cuts her off, pouting.

They stand in silence for a little while. Firefly looks away and stares at the ground. What now. How they proceeded from this? Firefly was too shy to actually confess or start these conversations seriously, and Silver Wolf was far too teasing and playful to give herself the luxury of having mercy on the knight and goes off first. She didn’t know what she was supposed to do in such a situation-

Thats before she can actually process the almost careful touch in her chin, making her head turn back to Silver Wolf’s way. And when it does, she is met by her lips touching her own. Firefly eyes widen and her heart starts to beat so loud in her chest that she is concerned if Silver Wolf can hear it too.

It took a few second for her to realize Silver Wolf had her eyes partially open, staring at Firefly with an intensity she would never expect from Silver Wolf to anything that weren’t her games.

When Silver Wolf threatens to break the kiss, Firefly quickly tugs her jacket and pull her closer, leaning in and closing her own eyes.

She can hear the hacker’s breath hitching in her throat, but soon enough she can feel the warmth of her fingers touching her cheeks, and she can’t help but smile against her lips.

Silver Wolf’s hands slide down her body to her waist, and when they have to pull apart for air, her thumbs circle the area in a caress.

They stare at each other for a few seconds in silence. Firefly out of her breath, with those flushed cheeks and her wet lips were almost enough to make Silver Wolf pull in again, but instead, they stare at each other for a hot second.

The blush in both their cheeks seem to grow warmer under each other’s gaze, but at some point, when there is just their comfort with them in the room, they start laughing. Out of embarrassment, and perhaps out of happiness too.

“Well.” Silver Wolf muses, smirking as she leans back, holding back her laugh. “I hope you don’t regret this one.”

“You really have to ruin the mood, don’t you?” She smiles with amusement, chuckling. “No, I...” She bites her lip, looking at Silver Wolf with hesitance. “I do not regret this one.”

Silver Wolf feel an annoying vulnerability crawling inside her and making her bones weaken, so she is forced to look away from that heavy gentle look in Firefly’s eyes.

“We’re going to talk about that?” She drums her fingers in her knee, staring at anywhere that isn’t Firefly.

“We could. If you want to.” She offers, silently.

“Honestly? I’d rather just chill and go play something.” She shrugs, fidgeting the zipper of her jacket in her fingers.

“Do you have anything for two players?”

At Firefly’s request, Silver Wolf’s eyes sparkle with eagerness. She smiles widely and look at Firefly.

“You bet, come on.” She stands up and grab her wrist, dragging her out of her room.

Firefly chuckle with her enthusiasm, following her hurried footsteps. “Wait, you don’t have to run...” Firefly answers, matching her steps as they run along the large and long walls of their hideout.
