Chapter 1: Watch Out!!

Chapter Text

Upper Piltover

The air is pristine and the place is loaded. The cacophony on people walking on the street below and the loud music on the fanfare fill my ears. I adjust my jacket and pants before walking into the room.

"Keep an Eye out for anything that looks valuable Powder" I tell her, "Before Mylo fills the bad with junk"

Powder, my sister, takes off towards the other room. So far sneaking into this place was the right thing. Whoever this dude was he was loaded. Half the stuff on this table could probably feed us for months.

Fucking Piltie scums. They sit on everything and spare nothing. This fool even has food strewn about the place, when I haven't had a decent meal in three days.

I continue to fill my bag with whatever valuable I can find. Of the corner of my eye I see Mylo and Claggor, my brothers playing with something. I take it from them and drop it into the bag. Just then I hear footsteps by the door. A shadow moves past the glass frame.

"Mylo!!" I don't need to say anything else, he understands the job. Like the wind he is off, jamming a chair into the door handle, it should hold for a couple minutes.

I go warn Powder. She has something in her hands. Looks like gemstones to me. We get back to the Balcony and pack our things. Mylo and Claggor are already outside. I gesture them to run. I close my bag and run but Powder drops one of the stones in her hand as she puts them inside her pouch.

It bounces up and down like a rubber ball, a trail of blue light forming with each bounce. The air begins to heat up and I start to feel a tingling sensation on my skin. I push Powder out to the Balcony and get up. But just then the glass frame on the door breaks someone pushes the chair down. A small girl about my age runs in.

Suddenly the stone glows bright white. I don't know what happened but I dash forth towards the girl

"WATCH OUT!!!"

"You really went to the Undercity to get these?" I ask Jayce, "Weren't you afraid?"

"A little danger is worth the risk, don't you think?" Comes the reply from Jayce.

The Undercity was a dangerous place, or so I was taught from birth. Never go there Caitlyn, They're all Criminals Caitlyn, They'll kill you Caitlyn. I wondered how true these tales are. Jayce seems nonchalant enough to wander down there alone in search of science equipments.

As I was thinking a piece of his purchase falls down from my Box. Before I got down to get it Jayce places his room key in my box. "You go ahead Sprout, I'll get it"

I used to hate it when he calls me that, but I must admit it has grown on me. Now I even prefer he calls me that. As I plunge the key in and open the door the handle gets stuck. From the glass frame on the door I see some silhouetts scramble about inside. One of them sounds like a girl, she urges the others out. INTRUDERS!!! I think to myself

I pick up a small metal piece from Jayce's supplies and break the glass frame. I push down whatever was blocking the door and burst in.

The first sight is a pink haired girl in ragged clothes. The second is a bright white flash of light. The third is the girl lunging at me in a blur screaming "WATCH OUT"

I hear Jayce calling my name, my eyes open, I'm greeted with pink filling my view. A screeching headache fills my skull. My hair is slick and sticky on my skin. I feel a weight on my chest. When I'm finally able to move I notice a large hole on the ceiling above me, I can see the ceiling of Jayce's room, as well as three kids run across.

On top of me is the pink haired girl. I try to wake her but she is not responding. I push her gently and sit up, suddenly I feel something flowing down my face. It's blood!!

I try to wake the girl again, but then I see her back. It's burned up and smoke rises from between her jacket and shirt. I feel more of the same slick wetness on my lap. I move the girl over, the metal piece I used to open the door is sticking out from her and blood pours out from the wound. My eyes widen at the sight.

Jayce bursts down the door. He flings the girl away with not a care in the world. He cups my face and looks at my head in horror. Cries fill the room as the girl is surrounded by three other kids. They seem horrified. Jayce begins to leave with me in his hand.

"Jayce!! Jayce stop!! Jayce she needs help!!!"

"She's their problem, you're mine"

How could he be so cruel!! "Jayce she saved my life!!!"

Before Jayce could carry me out of the hall I leap out from his grasp. The girl's blood on my skirt makes his attempt to grab me again fail as his grip slips. I run back, the blood from my skull flowing on my face. Black and red fill my vision. I run into the room.

The kids are cradling the girl, they don't know what to do, the two boys are trying to pull the metal shard out. The little girl having a breakdown muttering something to herself. I dash in between them.

"Come on!! She needs a doctor!!!" The kids are taken aback. I try to lift the girl, but my body starts to give way. The two boys argue about something. But soon I'm pulled away, Jayce lifts the girl and drapes her over his left shoulders. He tells me to climb on his right.

I watch the kids follow us. The larger boy takes charge and he rallies the other two. We enter Jayce's car. He puts me in the passenger seat and the girl in the back seat. He tells the other kids to get in as he starts the engine.

Jayce hands me a piece of cloth and one to the kids in the back. He asks to apply pressure to the wound. Trying to keep the blood from dripping out. I look over the seat to see the three kids trying to wake the girl. The little girl hasn't stopped crying. The big kid is barely holding the other boy from a breakdown. I hear them call out her name
