Chapter Text
It was a cold winter night and holy fuck could you feel it.
You were laid up in bed in two hoodies, thick winter leggings with sweatpants over them, and a pair of thick winter socks. Despite you being under multiple layers of clothes and about 4 layers of blankets you were still freezing.
You heard a firm knock on your door, causing you to flinch a bit in surprise “yeah...?”
“you decent?” Logan grumbled.
You sat up, brushing your hair out of your eyes and combing your fingers through some of the knots. Some clumps of hair came out too, it didn’t surprise you much anymore. “Yeah, come in”
The door creaked open and let the light of the hallway shine into your pitch-black room. “Christ kid, I know the AC isn’t the best in this shithole but damn it ain’t that cold…” Logan sighs as he spots you bundled up in bed “you sick?” he inquired, noting your rough state.
“No…” you murmur, leaning over to turn on the bedside lamp.
Logan huffs and crosses his arms “so you’ve just been laying here all day?”
You don’t respond, you already feel shitty enough about it you don’t need to be chided by him. You slid out of bed, walking to the door and attempting to slide by him but he firmly gipped your sleeve before you could.
“I asked you a question…” he grumbled lowly.
“I just stayed up really late- I forgot to set an alarm…” you lied, and he could smell your bullshit from a mile away.
He sighed and let go of your sleeve, deciding to not pester you any further. You walked to the kitchen and saw some grocery bags on the counter.
“Got some snacks since there ain’t shit else to eat here.” Logan grumbled as he walked behind you.
You opened one of the bags, it contained some spicy Doritos and cheese crackers. You drooled at the sight of them, swallowing down the saliva that filled your mouth, your stomach twisting and aching in yearning.
“I got those to share” Logan murmured, hoping the gesture would make you feel at least slightly better as he knew those were some of your favorite snacks.
“can you…keep these in your room please?” you mutter softly, knowing if you had free rein to the snacks, you’d probably devoir them all in the same night.
Logan’s soft expression drooped, his eyebrows scrunching a bit in confusion “why? I thought you liked those?” he asked.
You nodded and looked away from the bag “I do-…I-I’m just on a diet right now…” you murmur.
Logan sighs, slightly upset that his good deed for the day went to waste “pretty strict fuckin’ diet you’re on, huh?” he muttered, noting back to all the times he either brought you food or offered to take you out and you denied, pulling out the same excuse.
You felt guilty…You greatly appreciated the gesture , of course! But your mind wouldn’t let you accept the gifts, afraid you’d ruin your progress. “I appreciate it Logan I do-! but-“
“But what?” he interrupted “it’s the same damn excuse every. Single. Time…” he huffed, snatching the bags and taking them to his room.
“No- Logan, Please-“ you call out after him “I didn’t mean to come off as rude, I do appreciate it I do…“ you pleaded.
Logan sighed and set the bags down on his dresser “well they’re here if you want them” he said, scanning your sickly figure again “you sure you aren’t hungry?” he asked “you haven’t come out of your room all day and we don’t have shit here to eat, you know I’ll take you out to eat if you want, all you gotta do is ask kiddo-“
he paused as he heard your stomach groan loudly, watching as you covered it in embarrassment. He cocked a brow and looked at your stomach then at you, it was impossible to deny your hunger now.
He huffed out a chuckle and shook his head “when was your last meal?” he asked.
“you saw me eat last night-“
“I said meal…not an apple and some coffee. Meal…” he spoke slowly, emphasizing his words in a scolding manner.
You could barely look him in the eye “Logan, I told you my stomach can’t handle big portions-“
“it doesn’t have to be a feast.” He sighed, rubbing his face in frustration.
You felt your face flush in embarrassment… you didn’t want to make this his problem, so you walked back into your room and locked the door, deciding to avoid the situation entirely.
“kid, wait-“ Logan called out after you.
You ignored him, getting dressed in your jeans, boots and way too big trench coat. You slung your messenger bag over your shoulder and swung open your bedroom door, pushing past Logan and grabbing your keys from the bowl on the kitchen table.
“I’m going out for some cigarettes.” You said bluntly and quickly left the apartment.
Logan sighed went back to his room, he was tired and he couldn’t help you if you didn’t want to help yourself.
