Work Text:

They were wrestling in Boromir’s chamber when his elbow connected painfully with the wall and a panel popped open in the wainscot. An empty hidey-hole, no bigger than a sparrow’s nest, became their love’s kist.

The festival of the Kissing Gate was being observed in Gondor once again and each year Aragorn relished finding a gift for Arwen that rightly expressed his feelings and receiving her tribute in return.

He would have gifted Boromir as much, but Boromir declared that he could have given him no greater gift than Arin. Theirs was a private love and so his gift from his Steward was what he asked for, a kiss, and if chance should find either from home, then two kisses when next they met.

As for Boromir, once a year, he would open the hidden panel and find behind it a slip of parchment with a promissory note in Aragorn’s hand to be redeemed before the year was out.

A day’s fishing
A snowball fight
A warm bath
A pot of the wild heartsease
Supper before the fire
A massage with oils
Marzipan orcs
A foot rub to ease tired muscles

And Boromir thought himself the most fortunate of men.
