Fallen For You

Summary:

“Are you really an angel?” Taehyun cut straight to the chase. The angel’s smile turned sheepish, like a little kid caught doing something wrong.

“Um…no? Why would you think that?”

Taehyun gestured at his entire being.

"The wings. The powers.” The otherworldly beauty.

The angel scratched the back of his head nervously.

“Okay, yes, I’m an angel. But you can’t tell anyone,” The angel brought his finger to Taehyun’s lips. Taehyun flicked his eyes down and gulped before he looked up again. “I’m on a mission.”

Or

Beomgyu is an angel who was sent from Heaven to learn how to be human. He's very bad at it, so Taehyun helps him the best he can, out of the goodness of his heart. It has nothing to do with how beautiful the man is.

Notes:

Welcome to my last fic of the year!!! I really wanted to get this posted before midnight and I've juuust made it.

Enjoy this silly, but hopefully funny and cute fic I've been stuck writing for way too long! <3

Also, this fic was written for the #SmashUppuzUniverse event.

Work Text:

Taehyun needed to get his eyes checked. His last appointment had been only a few months ago, but there was no other way for what he was seeing to be true.

Alternatively, Yeonjun could’ve drugged his drink or something, he supposed. He wouldn’t put it past the guy.

Because how else do you explain seeing a man with genuine-looking wings?

It was around lunchtime when it happened. Taehyun had the day off, and he was going to enjoy it to its fullest.

That’s right, he was gonna get cheesy tteokbokki and chocolate cornets. Thinking of slightly spicy rice cakes topped with melty mozzarella cheese made his tummy rumble; the yummy taste of chocolate gushing into his mouth on the first bite of the cornet made him ravenous.

His face was in a permanent grin as he crossed the street, thoughts of his favorite meal dancing around in his head.

He turned the corner, ready to head into the cafè when—

Bam!

If this were a movie, this would be when the record scratch would play and interrupt the happy-go-lucky soundtrack.

Taehyun fell flat on his ass, his once-sugary thoughts coming to a halt.

“Oh! I’m so sorry, I forgot you could run into me now.”

The man’s voice–his attacker, Taehyun thought pettily–was admittedly very, very pretty. Deep, but soft.

Taehyun looked up, first spotting a hand being directed at him. He then turned his head a bit more and his jaw dropped in surprise.

This man was gorgeous. He had fair skin, medium-length blond hair, bright brown eyes, and plush lips that turned up in a concerned smile.

Taehyun was about to grab his hand, but he noticed something odd out of the corner of his eye.

There was a long, white feather on the ground next to him.

He frowned as he picked it up.

“Ah, that must’ve happened when we collided. Silly me!” the man said. Taehyun furrowed his brows and blanched when he saw what the guy meant. He tried to back away quickly; the concrete hurt his legs, but he didn’t care.

“You have wings?”

Taehyun sputtered. The beautiful man pouted at him as his wings fluttered subconsciously.

Then his eyes bulged.

“Oh. Oh, right. Dang, sorry, you must be so confused. If you’ll let me explain—”

Taehyun righted himself before he stood in front of the angel. He chastised himself for being afraid, because he’d really jumped the gun.

This guy was just playing dress-up, probably. It was an appropriate choice for someone as beautiful as he was.

Taehyun shook his head.

“Sorry, I don’t know what came over me. These are very nice, though.”

The wings really were extremely intricate, and without thinking Taehyun reached out to touch one. The man blinked at him in surprise, but did not protest.

Taehyun had to give his compliments to whoever crafted these wings. This guy had surely spent a pretty penny. They were soft, way softer than any bird’s feathers he’d touched. It reminded him of a sherpa blanket he had back at home.

He didn’t see where they’d connect to the man’s shoulders, though. Being as nosy as he was, Taehyun did something rather rash.

He pulled on the wing, not hard, but enough to try and move it. What he got instead was a yelp, and the angel closed the wings around himself as he pushed Taehyun back with an unseen force.

Breathless, Taehyun stared at the figure before him. The man peeked out from behind his wing, and his eyes widened in realization of what he’d done.

“Oh, I’m so sorry, you just startled me and that hurt a little so I…”

Taehyun didn’t wait around to hear more. He knew for sure now that he was not on an acid trip or something, so he heaved himself up and began to run down the street. His fear influenced him more than curiosity ever could.

The strange man did not follow, but Taehyun got the weirdest feeling that it wouldn’t be the last time he saw him.

It went without saying that Taehyun did not end up getting his favorite snacks, then, because he had to go somewhere and collect his thoughts.

He did make sure to pocket the feather, however.

+×+

Taehyun went straight to his best friends’ house, because where else do you go when you think you’ve lost your mind?

They were currently in said friend’s kitchen. Soobin sat across from him, unblinking with his hands clasped together. His eyebrow furrowed, his voice completely monotone when he spoke.

“Why are you trying to fuck with me, Taehyun? It’s unlike you.”

Taehyun huffed.

“You’re right, it would be very unlike me, wouldn’t it? I’m telling the truth!”

Yeonjun poked his head in, having heard the commotion and unable to keep himself away from any juicy drama.

“What’s all this about? Has Taehyun-ah finally lost it?”

Taehyun turned to him with slitted eyes at the same moment Soobin replied, “I didn’t think it’d happen to him first out of the three of us.”

“Sometimes it’s the smartest people that go mad.” Yeonjun mused. He stroked a fake beard, and Taehyun snapped his fingers impatiently.

“Hey. I haven’t lost it, okay? I know what I saw, what I felt.”

Yeonjun frowned as he slotted himself into the chair next to Soobin. They immediately held hands under the table, and Taehyun internally rolled his eyes. Couples.

“Is this about your tweet from earlier?” Yeonjun grabbed one of the french fries that Soobin hadn’t eaten yet. “Guy must’ve been hot.”

Taehyun could feel his impatience rising. He took a deep breath in, then out.

He regretted posting that tweet, but it was too late now.

guys i think i just saw an angel” is what he had so eloquently written in his haste.

“Yes, it is, and yes, he was,” Taehyun said. “But he had wings. I picked up one of his feathers, for god’s sake.”

Taehyun dug around his jacket pocket, then presented the feather to them as irrefutable proof.

“Feather from an angel’s wing,” Taehyun said. Yeonjun reached for it and Taehyun held it further away. “You can’t touch it.”

“Taehyun,” Soobin began. His tone of voice indicated he was about to say something Taehyun wouldn’t like. “That could literally be from any bird.”

Yeonjun made an expression of agreement. Taehyun stood up, his hands flat on the table.

“I am a man of science. I don’t believe in things unless I can see them, better yet touch them. I also don’t do hallucinogens, at least, not on purpose.”

He squinted at Yeonjun, who gave him a meek smile in return.

“I just wanted you to relax for once…” Yeonjun murmured. Soobin looked mortified now.

“By making him hallucinate?”

“We were, like, fifteen!” Yeonjun defended. Taehyun watched the two with annoyance. If he were a cat, his tail would be flicking right now. Yeonjun finished his spat with Soobin and looked at Taehyun again. “I didn’t drug you though, Taehyun. But maybe…”

“No maybes,” Taehyun grabbed his coat off the back of the chair and shimmied into it. “Like I told Soobin earlier, I felt the wings. I even tried to pull one off, which probably wasn’t my best idea—”

“You what? Taehyun-ah, you can’t just attack someone like that!” Yeonjun shrieked in horror. He looked to Soobin for help. “Can you believe him?”

“I don’t know what to believe. Junnie-hyung, are you sure you didn’t slip something into his coffee?”

Yeonjun crossed his arms, a full pout forming.

“Babe, I’m just saying, strange behavior? The hallucinations?”

Yeonjun opened his mouth to protest, but stopped when he noticed Taehyun march to the front door.

“What are you doing?” Yeonjun frowned.

Taehyun stopped at the door, hand on the knob.

“Since neither of you seem to believe me, no matter what I say, I’m gonna go find that angel.”

+×+

Finding the angel was easier than expected.

In a crowd of regular, featherless people, it wasn’t too hard to spot a man with genuine wings on his back. Taehyun’s heart thumped when he saw him, which he tried to ignore.

Other people gave the angel weird looks, but ultimately went on with their day. Taehyun just had to be the one to question it.

But that feather was real. The man wasn’t wearing fake wings.

Taehyun pushed his way through the crowd; the busy streets of Seoul never failed to test his patience. When he was close enough, he pulled his phone out of his pocket to snap a photo of the angel.

As if he had a sixth sense, the angel looked directly into the camera lens, and Taehyun squeaked. He tried blending back into the crowd, sure he had concealed himself when a pleasant voice spoke by his ear.

“Hello, again.”

Taehyun jumped back on instinct.

The angel stood in front of him, the crowd thinning as if to give the two of them room.

Taehyun quirked an eyebrow.

“Did you do that?”

The angel, apparently as stunned as Taehyun was, blinked at him. Then he began to smile again, his white teeth blinding.

“Oh, yes. I thought it would make things easier.”

Taehyun nodded. Angel powers, he guessed. As ridiculous as that was.

“Are you really an angel?” Taehyun cut straight to the chase. The angel’s smile turned sheepish, like a little kid caught doing something wrong.

“Um…no? Why would you think that?”

Taehyun gestured at his entire being.

“The wings.

This intrigued Taehyun. Everything about the angel did, if he was honest.

His stomach chose that exact moment to growl, which reminded him of his missed snacktime. Soobin had offered some of his dino nuggets and fries, but Taehyun had refused. He still wanted that damn tteokbokki and chocolate cornet.

“Listen, what’s your name?” Taehyun’s head swam with images of his beloved food items.

“Beomgyu. And you?” Beomgyu tilted his head like a puppy.

“I’m Taehyun. There’s this place I really wanna go to. Do you wanna maybe…uh…” Taehyun trailed off, suddenly shy. “Actually, you don’t have to come with me. Sorry for bothering you.”

He made to walk off, but suddenly Beomgyu was in front of him again. Taehyun shrieked out a curse as he held a hand to his chest.

“I’ll come with you,” Beomgyu smiled. Taehyun looked behind him, then to where the angel now stood. Beomgyu’s eyes widened. “Oh, sorry, humans can’t teleport can they?”

Taehyun frowned.

“No. Beomgyu, what was your mission, exactly?”

Beomgyu’s eyes sparkled.

“To learn about humans, and how to act like one,” his smile turned shy. “Would you mind helping me out, Taehyunnie?”

Taehyun’s face flushed at the nickname, half of him wanting to tell the angel to fuck off. But the other half, the one that was intrigued with Beomgyu in more ways than one, won out in the end.

This man – or celestial being, whichever he truly was – was hard to resist.

“After we get my food, I’ll see what I can do.”

Beomgyu grinned. He jumped a bit in his excitement, which caused more feathers to fall. He giggled as he crouched down to collect them, while Taehyun’s heart thumped.

This would be interesting.

+×+

They immediately made their way to Taehyun’s favorite restaurant. Beomgyu looked around curiously.

“Do you want anything?” Taehyun asked. Did angels even need to eat?

Beomgyu tapped his chin.

“Hmm, I don’t really need to eat, but I want to try what you’re getting. I’d love to see what humans enjoy eating.”

Taehyun flashed a warning look at Beomgyu and made a shushing motion. Beomgyu smacked his own forehead with the edge of his hand.

“Ah, me and my big mouth.”

There was no one else in line, so Taehyun ordered for them. Two orders of cheese tteokbokki, two chocolate cornets, and two caramel macchiatos.

They sat and waited for the food. Beomgyu sat unnaturally at the table, his pose too stiff as he sat like a princess on a throne, one leg crossed over the other.

Taehyun nudged Beomgyu’s foot gently with his own.

“Sit more like me.”

Taehyun himself sat with his legs spread out, head on the back of the booth. Beomgyu twisted his lips as he mimicked the position. He sighed in relief.

“Wow, this is much comfier. We’re trained to look all proper, y’know?”

Taehyun did not know. What he did know was that their food was on its way to them, and he trilled in excitement. The teenaged worker gave a half-hearted smile before setting down their tray and made his way back to the register as slowly as possible.

Taehyun and Beomgyu reached for the food at the same time, but instead of getting shy about the contact, it only encouraged Taehyun to grip the tteokbokki plate harder.

“Me first, I’m the actual hungry one.” Taehyun picked up his pair of chopsticks and ate one of his rice cakes like a starved animal. Beomgyu watched, amused.

“Is this how humans usually eat?”

Taehyun didn’t reply until he’d eaten his fourth rice cake. He wiped his mouth off with the back of his hand.

“When we’re really hungry, yes.”

Beomgyu hummed in acknowledgement before he hesitantly reached his own chopsticks out. But they kept falling out of his hand, and Taehyun realized angels didn’t have a need to ever use them.

He sighed before he made his way over to Beomgyu’s side of the booth. Instead of just showing him how to do it, Taehyun positioned Beomgyu’s fingers for him.

“I would say hold them like you would a pencil, but you probably haven’t used those either.”

Beomgyu grinned, unaffected by the way Taehyun was touching him. Taehyun, however, felt himself get nervous the longer they were this close.

He cleared his throat when Beomgyu seemed to get it and wasted no time in sitting back in his previous spot.

“Here we go,” Beomgyu said melodiously. He reached them out, and…

Dropped them again.

Taehyun sighed and picked up a rice cake with his own pair of chopsticks.

“Open up.”

Beomgyu, who had been pouting before, held his mouth open obediently. Taehyun shoved the food in Beomgyu’s mouth before he could lose his nerve.

The angel’s eyes widened, and he began to chew. Then he clapped excitedly.

“Mm!! Dhis is sho good!”

“Don’t talk with your mouth full,” Taehyun chided. “It’s bad manners.”

Beomgyu gulped the rice cake down, eyes round and shiny as he stared at the plate.

“Can I have more?”

Taehyun was about to bite back that he didn’t have to eat, so Taehyun should technically get them all. But his puppy dog eyes were something to be rivaled, and Taehyun was weak.

“Fine. But I’m not feeding you more, find a fork or something.”

Beomgyu did indeed go to find a fork, and once he returned he plopped another rice cake in his mouth. He held his hands in fists, shaking them excitedly as he tasted it once more.

Taehyun’s cheeks were hurting from smiling so much.

“Just wait till you try the choco cornet.”

Beomgyu was just as cute eating his dessert. The look of slight surprise on his face at the chocolate squishing out between his teeth was adorable.

“Oh! Even more delicious!”

Beomgyu was quite loud, but Taehyun found he didn’t care to shush him. People could be loud, anyway, it wasn’t a crime or anything.

+×+

Afterwards, Taehyun had done his best to show Beomgyu around – see what it was like to be human. But the glaringly obvious problem of his wings wasn’t helping matters.

“He’s just cosplaying” only worked for so long. There were a few people too intuitive for their own good, like Taehyun, one in particular who had asked to inspect the wings closer.

Beomgyu clenched them around himself in fear, and the person ran away screaming.

Taehyun had rolled his eyes. Not even he had screamed.

“I’m telling you, Beomgyu, we have to find a way to hide your wings.”

No matter how good cosplays were these days, no one could actually move their wings like that. Simply because they were, of course, not actually attached. Usually.

Beomgyu pouted as he walked glumly beside Taehyun. He had his arms crossed, which in turn made his wings curl in more.

“See? You can’t do things like that.” Taehyun pointed at Beomgyu’s wings.

“Don’t wanna do this anymore.” Beomgyu mumbled. Taehyun scoffed.

“How long have you been here?”

Beomgyu considered it for a moment. He kicked a small rock out of the way and sighed deeply before he answered.

“I mean, only a few hours. But having to hide my wings? That just seems cruel.”

Taehyun stopped walking, and though Beomgyu didn’t notice at first he was quick to teleport back to Taehyun when he did. A passing girl gasped, tugging on her mother’s sleeve.

“Mommy, that man just teleported! And he has wings!”

The mother kept looking down at her phone distractedly; she didn’t even bother to answer her daughter. The girl pouted, keeping her eyes on Beomgyu until she was out of view.

Taehyun crossed his arms.

“And no teleporting. You wanted my help, right?” Taehyun smiled at him. “That means you have to listen to me.”

Beomgyu shrugged.

“Okay, fine. How do we hide them?”

Well, that was something Taehyun had yet to figure out himself.

“I’m assuming you can’t make them disappear, or you’d have done so already.”

Beomgyu nodded in confirmation.

“Thought so. For now, we can go back to my house. That way you can stop attracting so much attention.”

Beomgyu hummed.

“I kinda like it, though.”

Taehyun slapped a hand across his own face.

“Are you sure you’re an angel?”

Beomgyu chuckled as the two set off for Taehyun’s apartment.

“Sure, if you think I’m bad you should meet the Archangels.”

Taehyun didn’t think he wanted to meet any other angels.

+×+

When they arrived at Taehyun’s apartment, the first thing they noticed was the tall man stood outside his door.

Who also had wings.

“Kai!” Beomgyu grinned, launching himself at the other man. Kai’s eyes widened as he steadied Beomgyu. He held onto his shoulders. “Why are you here?”

Kai looked worried. It made Taehyun’s stomach drop.

“Big man isn’t happy,” Kai cringed when he saw Beomgyu’s dejected expression. “You’ve already shown yourself to too many people, and now you’re getting cozy with one.”

Kai glanced Taehyun’s way. He gave him a smile and a small wave before continuing on, serious.

“He thinks maybe I should do this instead.”

Beomgyu looked like he was about to cry. Taehyun figured it was because they had spent the day together, but it made his chest clench when the angel looked that way. He’d only seen him smiling most of the time so far.

“But…” Beomgyu began, his voice shaky. He cleared his throat. “I would like another chance. Taehyun here is going to find a way to hide my wings, and teach me how to be a proper human.”

Kai looked from Beomgyu’s face to Taehyun’s, doubtful.

“I don’t know…” Kai lowered his voice, but Taehyun could still hear him. “Your mission was to blend in with the humans, not get close to one.”

Beomgyu looked helplessly over to Taehyun.

He felt conflicted. He barely even knew Beomgyu, but his heart ached at the thought of him leaving already. He wanted a chance to get to know the angel, he realized with a pang.

Beomgyu seemed to feel the same.

“Is it so bad? Getting close to a human?” Beomgyu’s voice was gentle, sad. Kai looked at him with pity.

“What about when you have to come back home?” Kai pointed out. “You’ll never see each other again. Why put yourself through the heartache?”

“Are you talking from experience?” Taehyun interjected. Kai looked at him with slight surprise.

“I’m just pointing out the facts. Don’t get too attached, it will never end well.”

With that, Kai disappeared into thin air. Beomgyu pouted at the ground, lost in thought.

“Hey,” Taehyun reached a hand out to place on Beomgyu’s shoulder. The angel jolted a bit, but still kept his gaze off Taehyun. “I understand if you don’t want to do this. You even said so earlier that you’re tired of it.”

Beomgyu’s eyes were shiny when he looked up. He considered Taehyun’s words carefully, looking at the hand on his shoulder before smiling at Taehyun.

“I think I can try a little harder.”

+×+

The rest of the day was spent showing Beomgyu around his apartment, explaining different items and their purposes.

“That’s a TV, which I barely use,” Taehyun pointed at the device situated atop the stand. “But you can if you want.”

Beomgyu eyed the TV curiously, waving his hand in front of it. He looked perplexed when nothing happened.

“I know what a TV is, but our screens in Heaven are motion sensored.”

Taehyun handed him the remote.

“We’re not as advanced here, yet. I’ve also had the same TV for the past ten years.”

Beomgyu’s eyebrows raised as he took the remote from Taehyun.

“What kind of stuff do humans watch?” He found the ‘on’ button on his own, which made Taehyun strangely proud. He looked through the apps provided by Taehyun’s Roku and settled on Netflix.

“Most popular,” Beomgyu read aloud. His eyebrows furrowed as he scrolled, sounding bored with each description he read. “Is everything this boring?”

“They’re not all bad,” Taehyun mumbled. He watched as Beomgyu scrolled continuously but never settled on anything. The Netflix effect, to be sure. “Okay, maybe they are. There’s some decent movies though, and my friend Soobin-hyung likes anime.”

Beomgyu frowned. “Anime?”

“Like cartoons,” Taehyun supplied. Beomgyu tilted his head, a trait Taehyun was quickly growing fond of. “Animated drawings. Most of them are stupid.”

Beomgyu pulled up the search bar and painstakingly typed out “anime”. He looked annoyed by the time they were loading up.

“Why do they make it so hard to type on these remotes? In Heaven, we can just say what we want it to do.”

Taehyun reached over to tap the mic button on the remote as Beomgyu tensed under his touch.

“If you press this and say whatever it is, the thing will input it for you. Most of the time.”

He felt Beomgyu staring at him, and once he met his gaze he quickly looked at the TV again.

“Um, but they’re already loaded now. See?”

Beomgyu broke out of whatever trance he was in before scanning the options again. He looked flustered, which Taehyun thought was odd but he wasn’t going to comment.

They decided on Chainsaw Man, seeing how it was Soobin’s current favorite. He had even gotten his boyfriend to watch it with him, though Yeonjun couldn’t care less for anime.

Beomgyu seemed very interested, but Taehyun watched him far more than the show. He gasped when it turned particularly violent, curled his wings and then shoved his head onto Taehyun’s shoulder.

“Okay, I’m done. Too much blood.”

Taehyun held him close, his heart beating faster than the man’s in his arms.

He pet Beomgyu’s wings gently, continuing on when there was no protest. His wings were so soft, Taehyun never wanted to stop touching them.

He wasn’t sure what had possessed him to be so touchy with the angel, but it felt right somehow.

A few moments passed before Taehyun asked something that had been on his mind for a while now.

“What kind of stuff did you do in Heaven?”

The angel shrugged as he looked up in thought.

“We mostly just sit around all day, which is super boring. Sometimes one of us gets called to be a guardian, but that’s rare. Kai’s my only friend there, and even then he leaves on missions a lot.”

Beomgyu turned his head in Taehyun’s arms, looking at him pensively.

“Honestly, after we learn our duties, we’re in a constant state of waiting. Waiting to be called upon by the Creator. Pretty dull, isn’t it?"

Taehyun couldn’t help but agree.

“So He just keeps you there, like fish in a tank?” Taehyun mused. Beomgyu chuckled, the sound vibrating into Taehyun’s chest.

“I guess you could put it that way. Oh, and we aren’t allowed to be romantic with anyone.”

Taehyun raised an eyebrow at the confession.

“Really? Not even with other angels?”

Beomgyu shook his head.

“We are to be pure, untainted beings. Which I never understood, because why even make us have the desire?”

Taehyun flushed. So Beomgyu had desires, huh? He willed the thought away.

“Sounds lonely.”

Beomgyu nodded, staying as close to Taehyun as possible.

“It is. I think I already like it better here.”

+×+

It was getting dark out, and Taehyun was hungry again. As delicious as his favorite treats were, they weren’t exactly the most filling…or nutritious.

“I need to make dinner.” Taehyun announced. He didn’t want Beomgyu to move his head off him, but his stomach chose that moment to growl. Beomgyu giggled as he sat up and relaxed his wings.

“Can I watch?” Beomgyu asked. Taehyun shrugged before he stood up, which Beomgyu interpreted as a ‘yes’.

Taehyun took the opportunity to try and teach Beomgyu to cook. It was a simple dish, just chicken fried rice, but Beomgyu watched him in amazement the whole time.

He particularly watched Taehyun’s arm muscles flexing. He wasn’t even subtle about it.

Taehyun flushed under the angel’s gaze. He remembered what the angel had said about desires, and a string of information popped up in his brain from long ago.

Nephilim were made somehow, weren’t they?

But even then, those angels were straight.

Taehyun pursed his lips.

He then reached to turn the stove off. The flame flickered out, and he plated the rice for the two of them, proudly presenting one to Beomgyu.

“Try it.”

Beomgyu smiled at him before scooping a spoonful up and chewing it thoughtfully. He hummed in approval.

“Not as good as those things before, the toe bokey or whatever, but still good.”

Taehyun chuckled. He wanted to correct the angel, but he let it be. Some of his mistakes were quite endearing.

They went to sit back on the couch, deciding to watch an animal documentary as they finished their fried rice. Beomgyu had a love for dogs, apparently, even though he’d never been able to touch one before.

“We can go to the pound tomorrow,” Taehyun offered. “They let you play with the dogs there. Good for them and the people.”

Beomgyu considered it, but shook his head.

“Nah, I’d feel too sad for them. Look at the ones in this show.”

Taehyun didn’t really want to watch this program anymore. It was like an extended version of those commercials that played Sarah McLachlan, the “Arms of an Angel” tune running through Taehyun’s head.

Taehyun resisted the urge to snort at the irony.

He turned the TV off completely and went to put his plate away. Beomgyu followed, albeit awkwardly, repeating whatever Taehyun did. Taehyun smiled appreciatively when the angel washed his own plate. Not even his friends did that.

They finished cleaning after Taehyun scrubbed the frying pan down, and silence enveloped them as Taehyun realized something.

“Do angels…sleep?” Taehyun asked.

Beomgyu blinked slowly at him.

“Uh…no. We don’t require it, just like food and water. Of course, I could close my eyes and lay down and pretend to sleep–”

“Okay, just…don’t do anything crazy while I’m sleeping, got it?” Taehyun felt anxious. What did angels do at night? Surely nothing bad, but he didn’t want Beomgyu to do anything to jeopardize himself.

Beomgyu gave him an indignant look.

“I can behave myself, you know,” Beomgyu crossed his arms. “I’ll just, I don’t know…watch more TV?”

Taehyun chuckled. Beomgyu was cute even when he was a little bratty.

“Good luck with that. I am off to bed,” Taehyun walked in the direction of his room as Beomgyu continued to stare at him. “Um, you can go sit back down now.”

Beomgyu nodded and went back to the sofa, plopping down on it obediently. Taehyun shook his head and walked into his bedroom.

He flopped onto his bed and brought his hands up to cover his face.

What a day. Not only did angels exist, but he had one in his living room.

And he was extremely hot.

Taehyun groaned.

+×+

Taehyun had decided that the only way Beomgyu could hide his wings was to tie them together and wear an oversized jacket over them. Beomgyu complained about it constantly.

“It doesn’t hurt, but it’s annoying,” he whined. “I feel constricted and I don’t like it.”

Taehyun gave him a sympathetic smile.

“What if I get you more tteokbokki? And we meet my friends there?”

Beomgyu’s eyes lit up at the mention of the tteokbokki, but he paled when Taehyun brought up his friends.

“You can’t tell them I’m an angel.”

Taehyun smiled at him.

“I won’t, don’t worry. I’ll just introduce you to them as a human. It’ll be good practice, don’t you think?”

Beomgyu mulled it over. They made their way down the street that led to Taehyun’s favorite cafè, and Taehyun found he couldn’t keep his eyes off Beomgyu. The way his eyebrow curled slightly, the gears turning in his head accompanied by a slight pout was too adorable to bear.

Beomgyu caught him staring.

“What? Is there something on my face?”

Taehyun quickly looked away.

“No, nothing. Sorry.”

Just your unending beauty.

They kept walking until they reached the cafè door. Taehyun faced Beomgyu. “What do you say?”

Beomgyu bit his bottom lip, a bad habit that made Taehyun want to scold him. But he looked too cute doing it.

“We can try,” Beomgyu said. “But if I mess up, you’ll cover me, right?”

Taehyun rolled his eyes as he opened the door for them both. The bell dinged, signaling their arrival.

“Someone’s gotta look after you.”

If Beomgyu’s ear tips turned red at the comment, Taehyun wasn’t going to call him out on it.

Soobin and Yeonjun were already sat at a table far in the back. Soobin had cream filled cakes on his plate, his cheek poking out with a bite of one. Yeonjun watched him fondly, his hands on his own cheeks.

Taehyun fake-gagged at the sight of them. He wanted to join but realized Beomgyu stayed frozen at the entrance.

Taehyun turned to him, keeping his voice gentle.

“They’re total idiots, it’s fine,” Taehyun assured him. Beomgyu hesitated before walking closer to Taehyun. “They won’t even notice if you say something weird. Trust me, they’re even weirder.”

Beomgyu cracked a smile, but emitted a soft gasp when Taehyun grabbed his hand. Beomgyu’s hand was as soft as it looked, and it did funny things to Taehyun’s heart. He linked their fingers together before he could lose his nerve.

“I’m with you.” The simple statement had Beomgyu smiling again, gratefully looking Taehyun in the eye, and the two made their way towards the couple in the back.

Soobin noticed them first (since Yeonjun was too focused on his boyfriend’s face, as usual) and held up a hand in greeting.

“Hey, Taehyun!” He swallowed the bite of cake he’d been chewing. His eyes widened at the sight of Beomgyu, a smirk curving his lips when he noticed their linked hands. “Ooh, so it’s like that.”

Taehyun refused to let Soobin embarrass him and sat in the booth across from Yeonjun. The other man had noticed as well, his own coy smile making an unwanted appearance. Beomgyu stood nervously, his arm stretched out to its full extent.

“This is Beomgyu,” Taehyun introduced him. “He’s new to town, so he doesn’t know much. Be nice to him or else.”

Soobin rolled his eyes.

“When am I not nice? Hi, Beomgyu,” Soobin smiled. He looked quite friendly, but Taehyun had his eye on him. “I’m Soobin.”

He held his hand out for Beomgyu to shake. The angel looked down at it, perplexed. He looked helplessly at Taehyun.

“Oh, Beomgyu kinda has germaphobia,” Taehyun supplied as the awkward tension grew. “He doesn’t like shaking hands with strangers.”

“I can understand that,” Yeonjun agreed. He smiled at Beomgyu from beside his boyfriend. “You sure are a cutie. I’m Yeonjun, by the way.”

He winked at Beomgyu, and Taehyun felt anger coiling in his stomach. Soobin rolled his eyes so hard he thought they’d fall out, but he was used to his boyfriend’s antics.

Beomgyu blushed.

“It’s nice to meet you both,” Beomgyu looked down at the booth awkwardly. “Um, I’ll sit now.”

Beomgyu took his seat, going for that uncomfortable position again until Taehyun nudged him. His mouth opened as he corrected his posture, then smiled at the men in front of them.

“When did you guys meet?” Yeonjun asked. He stabbed his fork into a bite of Soobin’s bread and stuffed it in his mouth.

“Yesterday, actually!” Beomgyu said before Taehyun could react. He flashed him a look.

Yeonjun’s eyes danced with mirth.

“Oh, so this is the angel you mentioned.”

Beomgyu looked panicked, so Taehyun gave his hand a squeeze. He calmed down a little, letting Taehyun take the lead.

“He’s pretty, like you said,” Taehyun smiled at the angel, relishing the way his cheeks dusted pink. “It was like I saw an angel.”

He thought that was pretty smooth. Soobin fake-gagged beside Yeonjun, who only gave an impressed snort.

“What was all that other stuff about, then? The whole ’grabbing his wing’ and all. Oh, and the feather!”

Beomgyu paled, so Taehyun was quick to come up with a reply,  even if it pained him.

“Soobin, I was fucking with you.”

Silence enveloped the table until Beomgyu nudged his foot under the table. He looked extremely uncomfortable.

“Can you go with me to order the tteokbokki?”

Taehyun found it was hard to say no to those eyes.

“Of course.”

Thankfully, once they returned to the table, the awkward tension and topic seemed to be dropped.

The rest of their meeting went by uneventfully, other than Yeonjun mentioning how Soobin kept leaving his dirty socks in the living room. Soobin had retaliated by exposing Yeonjun’s own dirty habit of leaving fingernails on the counter, and they left it at that.

Beomgyu had watched them in earnest, interested in picking up anything at all about human behavior.

Taehyun liked watching him watch them.

Once their snacks were finished, the four said their goodbyes. No awkward attempted handshakes this time, though Taehyun was disappointed that Beomgyu had never felt comfortable enough to speak much.

They walked home together, hands still connected.

“You need to start talking more,” Taehyun said gently. Beomgyu grimaced. “I know, you’re afraid you’ll mess up. What if we practice more tonight, just you and me?”

Beomgyu’s cheeks reddened, but he nodded quickly.

“I would love that, Taehyunnie.”

+×+

The weeks went on, and Taehyun found he was happier than he could ever remember being.

Getting to show Beomgyu around his hometown, all the things that made up who he was, was fun. And Beomgyu sure seemed to think so too. Taehyun rarely ever saw him without a smile.

They had a sort of routine. Taehyun had to go back to work after calling out one too many times, which left Beomgyu home by himself. The angel didn’t seem to mind too much; he found plenty of k-dramas that kept his interest.

When Taehyun got home, they would eat dinner and talk about their day. Taehyun’s was boring, in his own opinion – being an office worker wasn’t the most exciting thing. But hearing Beomgyu talk about his latest drama, the way his eyes would light up as he gesticulated wildly, made Taehyun smile.

“He was her soulmate all along,” Beomgyu finished, setting his fork on the plate with a clang. “But then they couldn’t be together! How sad is that?”

Taehyun hummed in agreement. The angel was very emotional, another thing Taehyun hadn’t expected out of an angel. Caring, sure, but Beomgyu’s emotions seemed rather…human.

In Taehyun’s mind, angels were basically office workers like him, serious and no-play, except all the time. But this angel wasn’t like that.

“Have you always been this way?” Taehyun wondered. Beomgyu tilted his head.

“What way?”

“This. Just…you,” Taehyun said. He felt awkward, now, but his curiosity wouldn’t let up. “Aren’t angels usually pretty serious?”

Beomgyu went quiet. He looked down at his empty plate.

“Oh. Do you want me to be?”

Taehyun’s heart lurched.

“That’s not what I mean. I think being serious all the time is boring, honestly. You’re not like that, Beomie. You’re…fun.”

Beomgyu’s eyes flicked up to meet his own, pink dusting his pretty cheeks as he began to smile.

“You mean that?” Beomgyu batted his eyelashes. Taehyun chuckled warmly.

“Before you, my life was pretty boring,” Taehyun admitted. He sat back in his chair more comfortably. “I had my friends, of course, but I always came home to an empty apartment. No hobbies, really, just reading sometimes. It really has made quite a difference, you being here.”

Beomgyu smiled wider, his eyes shimmering. He stood up and walked closer to where Taehyun sat and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“You’re interesting too, Taehyun,” Beomgyu said. “I love watching you cook! I’ve tried watching other people on that Your Tube thing, but it doesn’t compare. And you’re always so kind and considerate of me.”

Taehyun flushed, not used to so much praise. At work, even though he was technically an executive, he was closer to the bottom of the ladder so no one really thought to remind him of his accomplishments. Soobin and Yeonjun were nice too, but they were always more engrossed with each other.

When they were younger, it was just Taehyun and Yeonjun against the world. They would go out and get into whatever mess they could find; Yeonjun started it, and Taehyun would clean it up. But in their senior year of high school, Yeonjun had met Soobin.

And it wasn’t like Taehyun was mad at Soobin for taking his best friend away, because he hadn’t. They all became friends, and tried to keep him included, but Taehyun was the one who pulled away.

So now, having this beautiful man beside him, complimenting him and being so kind…

It did things to Taehyun’s heart.

He stood up, facing Beomgyu confidently. The angel blinked in surprise, his breath coming out in a little puff.

“Thank you for staying with me,” Taehyun said. He felt his nerves acting up, but pushed through. He set his hands on Beomgyu’s shoulders, their eye contact never ceasing. “Life is better with you.”

And then, he closed his eyes, and leaned in.

But Beomgyu pulled away, leaving Taehyun to kiss the air.

Taehyun opened his eyes, reality setting in when he took in Beomgyu’s sad smile. The angel looked both happy and like he wanted to cry.

“Taehyun,” Beomgyu started. But Taehyun didn’t want it.

“Can I please kiss you, just once?” Taehyun’s heart ached in his chest. He suddenly got the feeling that if he didn’t kiss Beomgyu now, he never would. It made him feel desperate.

He stepped closer. Beomgyu brought his hand out to rest gently on Taehyun’s forehead to keep him in place.

“Kai was right,” Beomgyu realized. Taehyun’s stomach dropped. He felt like he’d eaten one too many chocolate cornets. “I’m sorry, Taehyun. Thank you for showing me how to be human, but I must go now. I have all the information I need.”

Taehyun felt frantic, heart clawing out of his chest.

“Please, don’t leave me.” Taehyun felt the first tear slip down his cheek. Beomgyu wiped it away, sad smile still on his face.

“Goodbye, Taehyunnie.”

And before Taehyun could protest, with a blink of his eye, Beomgyu was gone.

His angel was gone.

+×+

Weeks passed, but the time all blended together. Taehyun would work, eat, sleep, repeat. That was all he had done before, and all he would do now.

He couldn’t forget about Beomgyu no matter how hard he tried. How silly the angel looked while watching his dramas, hand in a bowl of popcorn as he chastised the main lead for being an idiot. How Beomgyu would watch him when he spoke, really heard him and cared about what he had to say.

How electrifying it felt when they would cuddle close on the couch, but also how warm and right it was.

He even missed cleaning feathers off the floor.

But what could he do? Beomgyu had no doubt went back to Heaven, where he would presumably stay for the rest of eternity.

Taehyun slumped on his work desk, the open document on his laptop staring tauntingly back at him.

He was meant to write up employee evaluations, but he didn’t know how to do that when he hadn’t been paying attention to any of them.

He didn’t care, either. He only had one person on his mind that was worth his attention.

But he was gone now.

Taehyun inhaled sharply, releasing the breath through his mouth.

His phone lit up with a new message.

It was Soobin.

"Hey. Yeonjunnie is worried about you. Why haven’t you been over lately?"

Taehyun rolled his eyes. He picked up the phone to reply.

"If Yeonjunnie is so worried, why doesn’t he message me himself?

I’m fine, though."

He wasn’t, but it didn’t matter. There was nothing anyone could do.

Taehyun knew it was dumb. Falling for an angel would only bring heartbreak, he knew that, but he also couldn’t stop himself. Beomgyu was just…wonderful. Everything he had ever wanted in a friend, a partner.

Kai’s gloomy face appeared in his mind, and he groaned. He’d been right from the start.

But was Taehyun really supposed to just tell Beomgyu to leave and move on with his life?

There was no way in hell he could have.

+×+

Taehyun walked down the pathway to his favorite cafè. The leaves had changed from green to brown, summer leading into fall.

Three months since Beomgyu left.

Five months since he’d met the angel.

He walked silently, stepping on the crunchier fallen leaves as he moved along. He spotted a woman walking her maltese, and couldn’t help but smile.

“What’s this one called?” Beomgyu had asked Taehyun to show him every dog breed ever, and who was Taehyun to refuse him? He pointed at a fluffy white one on the page. If he scrolled down further, he’d see the name, but he found more joy in asking Taehyun himself.

“A maltese. Also known as a Beomgyu.” Taehyun had grinned before flicking Beomgyu’s bangs out of his eyes. The angel rolled his eyes, but he was smiling.

“Ha-ha, very funny. What about this one?” He pointed to a tiny, brown dog with large eyes. His eyes sparkled with mischief. “Wait, I already know: it’s a Taehyun!”

Taehyun had scoffed as he pushed Beomgyu’s shoulder playfully.

“I am not a chihuahua!”

“It’s okay, Taehyunnie,” Beomgyu had said. His voice was soft, smile so kind. “You’re both cute.”

Taehyun hadn’t known how to answer that. He had cleared his throat before scrolling down more to list off dog breeds.

That felt like an eternity ago now, Taehyun thought solemnly. He was so lost in his thoughts, something he’d not done while walking for some time.

If he hadn’t been, he would’ve noticed before slamming into him again.

Or, he would’ve slammed into him, but the man’s hands on his shoulders kept him steady.

Taehyun looked up in surprise.

“Who the–” his voice died in his throat. Beomgyu stood in front of him, looking bedraggled. His once-beautiful, snowy white wings had turned black, and looked more leathery than soft. Beomgyu’s face was still just as beautiful, but he had a scar across his eye now, and his hair was jet black.

Taehyun gaped at him, but before he could speak, Beomgyu pulled him into a hug.

“I’ve missed you so much,” Beomgyu laid his chin on Taehyun’s shoulder. “Heaven is so boring.”

Taehyun was in a bit of shock, but not too much that he didn’t hug Beomgyu back. He placed his arms around the angel (?) with uncertainty.

When they pulled apart, Taehyun could see the sorrow in Beomgyu’s eyes.

“Beomgyu,” Taehyun said in disbelief. Beomgyu smiled upon hearing him speak his name. “What happened to you?”

Beomgyu glanced around quickly as he realized the attention on them. He held his hands on Taehyun’s shoulders again.

“Hold that thought.”

Within the blink of an eye, Taehyun found himself and Beomgyu standing in the middle of Taehyun’s apartment. His eyes widened.

“You can teleport me to places, too?”

“Well, now that I have free will.” Beomgyu admitted. Taehyun didn’t like the way Beomgyu said that.

“You didn’t have free will? Before, I mean?”

Beomgyu smiled sheepishly.

“I have a lot to tell you, Taehyunnie. Why don’t we sit down? My feet hurt.”

Taehyun cocked an eyebrow, but went to sit with Beomgyu anyway. The other man clasped his hands on his lap, looking uncertain.

“What do you want to know first?”

Taehyun’s mind was reeling. Was Beomgyu still an angel? Was he a devil now, technically? Fallen angels were never anything good. Just look at Satan.

But Beomgyu didn’t look like Satan. He still seemed the same to Taehyun, warm and inviting as always.

Beautiful, too.

“How are you back?” Taehyun asked.

Beomgyu shuffled in his spot a bit.

“I…left.”

“You left?” Taehyun repeated. “Beomgyu, what does that mean?”

“I fell,” Beomgyu said. Taehyun wasn’t a fan of crypticism. At the exasperated look on his face, Beomgyu carried on. “I fell from Heaven so I could come back to see you. Got this nasty scar, but it was worth it.”

Taehyun didn’t know how he was supposed to feel. A whole godly being, an angel, wanted to throw all that away for some measly human?

He didn’t know how he was supposed to feel, but he knew what he did feel.

A little pissed, actually.

“Why would you do that?” Taehyun asked in disbelief. “Your wings, your eye…”

Taehyun reached out to touch the scar, something he’d been itching to do since he first saw it.

Beomgyu leaned into Taehyun’s touch and grasped his hand around Taehyun’s own.

“You taught me how to be a human.” Beomgyu said.

Taehyun frowned.

“So what? Being a human isn’t that great. We can’t teleport, we don’t have wings. We just sit around and mope about stuff we can’t have.”

Beomgyu smiled knowingly.

“And what can you not have, Taehyunnie?”

Taehyun gulped, realizing just how close their faces were. Beomgyu stared into his eyes, their hands connected, and he was everything Taehyun couldn’t have.

“You,” Taehyun breathed. Beomgyu smirked – a new expression on his face, one that Taehyun liked very much. “But I can’t have you.”

Beomgyu leaned in and touched their foreheads together.

“And who, might I ask, says you can’t have me?”

Beomgyu’s soft, pink lips were so close. Taehyun barely had to lean in and they’d be against his own.

“I don’t know. God?” Taehyun said bitterly. Beomgyu chuckled, a deep sound that stirred something within Taehyun.

“God can’t stop me now.”

Something primal clicked in Taehyun’s brain, then, and he couldn’t connect their lips fast enough. He smashed his against Beomgyu’s, their noses squished in the process, but neither cared.

It was like an explosion, a burst of fireworks setting off. They pulled apart briefly, both in shock at what they were doing.

The sin they were committing.

Taehyun couldn’t get enough.

He gripped onto Beomgyu, a bit harsher than intended, their mouths meeting again desperately. This kiss was anything but sweet.

Beomgyu groaned into his mouth as he let Taehyun take the lead. For all his domineering personality before, he became deliciously compliant for Taehyun.

Without warning, Taehyun pressed him down onto the couch. His fingers dug into Beomgyu’s shoulders, their bottom halves meeting.

Taehyun was delighted to feel Beomgyu’s hardness against his own, rutting into him. Beomgyu let out a deep, guttural moan, and Taehyun was surprised he didn’t come right at that moment.

“You are,” Taehyun kissed his lips, his neck, collarbones, anywhere he could get to. “So sexy. You know that?”

Beomgyu puffed out breaths in reply, his eyes shut as he let Taehyun do whatever he desired.

“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do this.”

Taehyun took Beomgyu in, then, seeing him for all he was worth. Scarred, dirty, tainted.

Beautiful.

“I want—no, I need to have you,” Taehyun’s hands found their home on Beomgyu’s hips, the curves dipping past them, until he reached the mounds of his ass. Beomgyu’s breathing hitched at the contact. “You gonna disappear on me again?”

“N-never,” Beomgyu stuttered out, the word like a conviction. It was honey to Taehyun’s ears. “Want you too, Taehyun.”

That was all it took for Taehyun to smash his lips onto Beomgyu’s again. He squeezed his ass once more and grew harder at the sound of Beomgyu’s mewls.

He began to lower Beomgyu’s pants, and Beomgyu shimmied out of them helpfully. Taehyun took in the outline of his cock, subconsciously licking his lips.

“You can stop me anytime.” Taehyun teasingly lowered his underwear, fingers pulling against the waistband. Beomgyu groaned, impatience sweeping over him; his cock was freed, the tip red and leaking.

Taehyun’s mouth was on it before he could even process it. Beomgyu took in a sharp breath as he leaned back harshly against the couch arm.

“Fuck,” Beomgyu hissed. Taehyun had never heard the man cuss before. It spurred him on to lick around the head of his cock. Beomgyu cussed again and gripped onto Taehyun’s head for purchase. “That feels fuckin’ amazing.”

Taehyun hummed and took him further into his mouth. He used his hands for the length he couldn’t fit and jerked him off at the same pace he bobbed his head, eyes shut, hyper focused on every little noise Beomgyu made.

“Taehyun,” A warning. Taehyun kept on like he’d heard nothing at all as the grip on his hair tightened. “I’m gonna—”

Taehyun’s mouth filled up with come, and some hit the back of his throat. He swallowed it all on instinct before he pulled off Beomgyu’s cock with a popping noise.

“I’ve…never,” Beomgyu panted against Taehyun. “That was heavenly.”

Taehyun snorted. Beomgyu’s eyes fluttered open, then he looked down at Taehyun’s very apparent problem.

He moved his hand down to grip the back of Taehyun’s neck, kissing him before he placed his other hand where Taehyun needed him most.

Taehyun hissed, the feeling of his angel finally grabbing his cock like nothing he’d ever experienced.

“I don’t know what I’m doing, so you’ll have to guide me,” Beomgyu breathed into Taehyun’s ear. Taehyun shivered. “Let me know what feels good, Taehyunnie.”

Taehyun nodded, eager to continue. The angel smirked before he dropped to his knees; he looked up at Taehyun, his shimmering eyes making him appear more innocent than he actually was.

Beomgyu slowly lowered Taehyun’s sweatpants, his underwear slipping off with them before his cock was freed.

Beomgyu stared at it, tilting his head as his eyes grew wide.

“Whoa, you’re big,” Beomgyu marveled. Taehyun flushed as he watched the way Beomgyu took in every detail of his cock as if he were looking at some sort of golden prize.

Beomgyu gave him one last smile before he took Taehyun fully into his mouth. Taehyun gasped, fisting Beomgyu’s hair tightly at the mere feeling of his plush lips.

“You okay?” Taehyun asked with a grunt. Beomgyu simply nodded, a short “mhm” vibrating up Taehyun. The angel stared up at him, Taehyun’s cock in his mouth, and Taehyun had never been more turned on in his life.

“So gorgeous,” Taehyun breathed. Beomgyu batted his eyelashes a few times before he took Taehyun deeper, bringing up a hand to hold what wouldn’t fit inside his mouth. Taehyun couldn’t stop himself from moaning in pleasure. “Your mouth is so- fuck, Beomgyu!”

The angel had taken him deep into his throat, eyes closing as he sucked Taehyun with great concentration.

There was no way Beomgyu hadn’t done this before, or at least watched someone else do it.

“Shit,” Taehyun gasped as he felt the tip of his cock hit the back of Beomgyu’s throat. “Keep going, j-just like that…”

All it took was a few more licks around his tip, a good jerk of Beomgyu’s veiny hand, and Taehyun spilled all over Beomgyu’s face with a loud stream of curses.

The angel opened his eyes, wincing slightly as he wiped the liquid off his eyelid. He smiled shyly at Taehyun, as if he hadn’t just sucked the life out of him.

“Was that alright?” Beomgyu asked. Taehyun almost wanted to laugh, but instead he pulled Beomgyu upright again so he could kiss him senseless.

“You were the best I’ve ever had,” Taehyun told him. Beomgyu’s lips quirked up at the praise. “Seriously, where did you learn that?”

Beomgyu flushed, not meeting Taehyun’s eyes.

“I discovered the internet while you were at work.”

Taehyun scoffed, hearing all he needed to know.

“I can show you all that in real life, way better than that fake stuff.”

Beomgyu’s eyes shimmered, already growing hard again at the implications.

“Show me, then.”

After countless rounds of sex, Taehyun found himself lying in his bed with a beautiful man in his arms.

He still had so much to ask Beomgyu, but it seemed neither of them cared to talk about it until some other matters were taken care of.

One thing Taehyun knew was that Beomgyu would surely be sore the next morning. He sighed into his neck, hugging him from behind with his chin atop his shoulder.

“Love you,” he mumbled sleepily. He was almost certain that the other man was asleep, so his heart thumped when he replied.

“Love you too, Taehyunnie.”

Sometime during the middle of the night, Beomgyu's wings disappeared into nothingness.

+×+

Some time later, Taehyun and Beomgyu sat beside each other at Soobin's kitchen table. Soobin and Yeonjun were staring at them in equal amounts of disbelief. Soobin had his face scrunched; Yeonjun had one eyebrow up.

“So you are an angel? Where are your wings, then?” Yeonjun broke the silence. Beomgyu smirked and squeezed Taehyun’s hand.

“He was,” Taehyun corrected. He could feel his face getting hot. “But then…”

“But then?”

Taehyun gulped. He didn’t dare to meet Beomgyu’s eyes; he was sure the other man wore a cocky, pleased expression on his face.

Undeniably hot, but so different from the Beomgyu he was used to.

“...He met me.”

Taehyun’s ears burned as Yeonjun burst into laughter and Soobin dropped his face into his hands.

“You…you made a good boy go bad?” Yeonjun said through giggles.

“Exactly that,” Beomgyu nodded. “So yeah. I was an angel, but now I’m not. I’m not exactly human either, though. God didn’t completely strip me of my powers.”

“Powers?” Soobin said in disbelief. Beomgyu grinned. “Show us.”

“Well, Taehyunnie already knows most of them. But I can do this…”

Beomgyu snapped his fingers, and they were all sitting in Taehyun’s favorite cafè. Everyone but Beomgyu screamed in surprise, but to their relief the place was closed for the night.

And who actually bothered to check their security cameras?

Soobin had paled, looking a bit like he was going to throw up. Yeonjun was gripping onto the table for dear life. And Taehyun kept his hand firmly grasped inside Beomgyu’s.

“Believe me now?” Beomgyu tilted his head with a mischievous smile. Shit, Taehyun could get used to this attitude change.

“I don’t…but…what?” Soobin eked out. Yeonjun pouted at him, his arms crossed. “What’s wrong?”

“Didn’t even try to hold onto me,” Yeonjun muttered. Soobin frowned, scrambling over to his boyfriend.

“It happened so fast! I’m sorry, Junnie, really.”

Yeonjun remained sulky until Soobin wrapped his arms around him protectively. Then Yeonjun smiled, turning his attention back to Beomgyu.

“Warn us next time, yeah?”

Beomgyu just smirked wider. Yeonjun narrowed his eyes at him.

“Yah, punk, I don’t like that look on your face!”

Beomgyu feigned innocence, looking at Yeonjun with his cute, big brown eyes.

“I’m sorry…I just wanted to show you my powers.”

Yeonjun rolled his eyes.

“Whatever. What else can you do?”

Beomgyu’s smirk returned.

That smirk was going to be the death of Taehyun.

“I thought you’d never ask.”
