Work Text:
The small campfire illuminated the forest clearing and the modest campsite. Levi slowly opened his eyes, half of his face was covered by bandages which obstructed his vision and intense pain was running throughout his whole body. It took him a minute to even realize he was still alive, but the pain served as a good confirmation that he was. He barely remembered how he got there. All he recalls was the explosion and then everything seemed like a blurry fever dream as he was constantly fending off death.
At first, he didn't dare move and only listened. He could hear faint sounds of someone moving nearby and directed his gaze towards the source of the sound. Not too far from where he was lying he was glad to find a familiar face - Hange was sitting with her back to him, tweaking with some wooden parts of a carriage. She seemed to be fully focused on what she was doing and didn't seem to notice that he had woken up. Levi just observed her for a moment. Oh, how glad he was to see her. Not that he would ever admit it out loud.
Was she the one to save him? It looked like that. Or at the very least he could not sense or see the presence of anyone else around. In a way he wished that was the case. He didn't want anyone else to see him in such a pathetic state. Hange was somewhat of an exception though. She'd already seen him at his lowest - this was not that much different, and although he hated having to be a burden to her, he was grateful she was the one to have found him.
But unfortunately the gentle, soothing thoughts about Hange were interrupted by a sudden realization - a familiar weight in his lower abdomen.
'Damm it' Levi thought as he realized that he had to pee, and quite badly at that. Why now of all times? For a moment he looked Hange's way again, but there was no way he would ask her for help with that. It was just too humiliating. He couldn't.
Levi thought he could just hold it. Maybe wait for her to fall asleep and try to sneak out. But then again, what if he couldn't even get up on his own? He bit his lip as a wave of desperation hit him, whatever little strength he had left was all dedicated to trying to hold it. Somehow the thought of wetting himself like some child, possibly creating additional hassle for Hange with having to clean the bedding and him as well, filled him with even more embarrassment. Despite her typical messy personality, Hange had managed to keep him and his surrounding as clean as they could possibly be given the situation. He weighted the options and it seemed he had no other choice.
"Hange..." His weak voice was muffled by the bandages over his mouth as he spoke, shifting slightly which proved to be a mistake as it only served to bring more pain.
"Levi! You're awake." Hange dropped everything she was doing and dashed to his side. "How are you feeling? Do you need anything?" She kneeled beside him, taking his hand in hers. It was very obvious by the look on her face how happy she was to hear his voice, to see him move around and open his eyes.
"I... I think yes..." Levi said, still feeling rather awkward to get to the point.
"What is it? Do you need water? Or perhaps more medicine-" Hange looked him, concern in her eyes.
"No... I need to piss." Levi finally managed to push the words out of his mouth, averting his gaze from hers as he said so.
As she heard the request, Hange couldn't help but let out a laugh. Levi's cheeks grew red as he heard that. On one hand, he was happy to hear that familiar sound he adored so much, on the other, given the situation, it was quite embarrassing.
"I'm sorry." Hange apologized as she was calming down. "I'm sorry, it's just that you were so serious, yet you actually just needed to take a wee wee."
"Yeah... Would you help me get up now?" Levi rolled his eyes, his cheeks still flushed.
"Oh... I don't think that's going to be as easy as you think right now... but there is no need. Wait a second." Hange turned around, shuffling through her supplies until she found a small, clean pot and handed it to him. "Here. I kind of expected this will come eventually... Do you want to sit up?"
With her help, Levi managed to sit up a bit, the pain in his body protesting every small move he made and only serving to prove his earlier doubt that he would have been unable to get up on his own.
"All good now?" Hange smiled at him as he was finally sat up. "Do you need me to also help with-"
"No." Levi interrupted her immediately. "I can do this on my own." His voice was rather shaky and a bit uncertain as he looked down at his bandaged right hand.
"Okay, I'll give you some privacy then. Call me when you're ready." Hange stood up and walked a bit away, turning her back to him.
Although handling the stuff with only one hand was a bit difficult, Levi did manage to get his dick out of his pants and position the pot Infront of himself. But then... Nothing. For whatever reason, despite how desperate he felt just a few minutes ago and how full his bladder still felt, nothing came out. Perhaps his faint anxiety over messing up somehow and getting urine all over the bedding was to blame, but regardless he had another issue now.
"Hange... It's not working." He called out, despite how ashamed he was to admit defeat.
"Do you need me to go further away?"
"No, I don't think that's the problem." Levi responded. Then he heard her steps getting closer to him.
"Okay.. let's try this then." Hange stepped closer pulling him in a loose hug while also supporting the pot between his legs with one hand. Levi looked at her in confusion and a little bit of embarrassment. "It's okay, Levi. Just relax. I've got you." He could feel her breath against his ear.
Levi's body initially just tensed up even more, but as she held him, gently petting his back and his hair with her free hand, he felt himself getting calmer. And it wasn't long until he finally felt his body start to relax as well. After a moment, the faint sound of liquid hitting a metal pot could be heard as he finally managed to force himself to let go. Once the first stream had escaped, the floodgates kind of opened on their own and he found himself finally able to relieve himself. His body almost fell limp in Hange's arms from the pure bliss of the relief.
Once the sound had faded, Hange broke the hug and smiled as she looked at his flustered face. Realization of what had just taken place was finally hitting Levi and his face was burning with embarrassment.
"All done?" Hange asked playfully to which Levi only responded with a quiet 'mhm' noise. "You did good. And I guess I did good picking the right container. It didn't overflow luckily." She giggled as she took the pot which was filled over the half now and placed it away.
"Here you go." Hange said as she turned back to him and handed him a tissue from her pocket. "I can bring a towel or something if you want to wash your hands as well."
Levi didn't respond and quietly took the tissue. Why did she, or more importantly how did she, knew he preferred to wipe after peeing? Hange was quite observation and she did seem to remember small details about him which surprised him every time but this was... unexpected. Anyway, it didn't matter. He had way bigger things to worry about now.
After disposing of the urine filled pot and taking care of cleaning his hands, then settling him back in lying position, cocooned in blankets, Hange sat beside Levi. "Comfortable?" She asked.
"As much as I can be." Levi muttered in response. "...Thank you by the way."
Hange's eyes opened wide in surprise at the sudden expression of gratitude she did not expect. "Anytime, captain."
Levi could feel himself falling asleep once again. The medication had made him quite drowsy so despite trying, he couldn't stay awake much longer, now that the pressing discomfort that had woken him up prior was gone. 'I love her so much' were the last thoughts on his mind before he drifted into sleep, grateful for everything Hange has done for him, not only now but throughout all the time they have been together. He would truly be lost without her.
