Chapstick

Summary:

Buck loves chapstick. He puts on too much of it always. Eddie is happy to help.

Notes:

hi hi! this came to me late last night (so excuse the lowercase i might go back and change it) and lowkey inspired by my life as a super chronic chapstick user (just that part) so enjoy!

Work Text:

buck has a problem.

okay it’s not like a big problem. in fact, it’s not even a real one.

he likes to put on chapstick often. even if he just put on chapstick on his lips 15 minutes ago, he’ll grab his tube and put some more on.

he’s unsure where the habit came from, and why he has the sudden desire to rub his lips together all the time to make sure that he still has enough to last him for the next hour.

when he started his chapstick journey, he went through different brands, flavors, even tube sizing just trying to figure out which one is the best for him.

he settled on aquaphor. he loves aquaphor.

he keeps a bunch of tiny tubes littered around the firehouse, so he knows that every corner he turns, it’ll be there waiting for him.

(the 118 decided to play a prank on him one day and hid of all his chapsticks. safe to say, it was not a funny prank)

and of course everyone makes fun of him for it. it’s not the fact that he’s putting on chapstick, everyone puts on chapstick, it’s just his frequency, his commitment, his dedication. it’s just all so buck.

so when it’s a (quiet) day at the firehouse, and everyone is asleep, and buck is putting on chapstick for 4 consecutive minutes in front of the tv, he feels a light tap on his shoulder. he recognizes it instantly.

“yes eddie?”

“don’t you think that’s enough chapstick?” eddie says, taking the seat next to him on the couch, wiping the sleep off his face. buck just shrugs, continues to put on the chapstick. when he’s done, he brings his face close to eddie’s, invading his personal space, something that he does quite often, just cause he can.

“does it look like enough chapstick?” buck says, tilting his head, the words dancing between flirting and sincerity.

“um…i don’t know?”

“well you have to look at my lips to figure that out eddie.”

when eddie’s eyes fall to buck’s lips, then quickly back to his eyes, then back to his lips, eddie licks his own.

“i guess it looks like enough.” eddie says, bringing his hand out to bucks face, his thumb so so gently brushing buck’s bottom lip.

“i have to keep my lips soft. moisturized.”

“mmm.” eddie tilts his head, still skimming his finger across. “they look moisturized and soft. too moisturized. too much chapstick.” eddie shows buck his thumb, the sheerness of the chapstick now imprinted on it.

“mmm.” buck says and somehow he’s even closer to eddie. “guess i’ll just have to share.”

eddie holds out his hand, expecting buck to put the chapstick in it but instead, buck moves eddie’s hand back to his face. buck shifts a little on the couch, making it easier for them to be closer together, their faces only centimeters apart.

“i had a different idea of sharing.” eddie says.

“so did i.” buck says, tilting his head, jutting his chin out. eddie breathes out a laugh against bucks lips before crashing their lips together in a sweet yet needy kiss. every kiss they share always seems to be needy.

it’s quick, it’s sweet, it has their hearts racing and their minds spinning, it always does.

when they pull away, buck goes to feel eddie’s lips.

“you’re lips are very soft.” eddie says, eyes closed with bucks touch. buck runs his hands behind eddie’s ear, to the nape of his neck.

“thank you. you say this every time.” buck says, placing a kiss on eddie’s cheek, lingering.

“cause it’s true every time.” when buck is at eye level again with eddie, eddie is beaming.

“your lips are getting pretty soft too.” buck says, touching eddie’s lips again.

“it’s all the chapstick you give me.” eddie says, still beaming.

“mmm.”

“and all the kissing.”

“oh definitely all the kissing.” buck leans in again for said kissing. “that won’t ever stop.” he mumbles against eddie’s lips before quickly pecking it.

“well duh. you did put a ring on it.” eddie says, pointing to his wedding band. buck smiles, kisses the space right above the band, locking his hand with his band with eddie’s.

“easiest decision of my life.”

“not like finding the best chapstick.”

“well i found the best one once we started dating so.” buck kisses eddie again. “thank you.”

eddie beams. “for you, anything.”
