Primal Drives

Summary:

A new wanderer causing havoc around Linkon City also has the ability to rouse dormant instincts in animals. MC and Rafayel find this out the hard way.

Notes:

So I don't think I'm going to get my second Caleb fic out tonight. I do plan to finish it before the 22nd, but here have this Raf fic I finished two weeks ago and forgot to post to AO3 instead!

Work Text:

It had been a hell of a day for all the hunters of Linkon City. A new strange type of wanderer had been sneaking around causing chaos. It seemed to have an area of affect ability that drove the animals around it feral. Unicorn squad had spent most of the day helping to chase the thing down. Xavier had gotten the last hit, and gotten stuck debriefing with Captain Jenna.

Seeing a chance to avoid getting stuck helping with the paperwork had encouraged a certain hunter to sneak off. She’d noticed right away that she was only about two blocks from Rafayel’s studio. It barely took a moment for her to whip out her phone and shoot a ‘I’m nearby and coming over to crash’ text to the artist. She didn’t bother to wait for a response. Her grumpy little Lemurian would be quite happy to see her, especially if she showed up with takeout. Honestly he didn’t eat nearly as much as he should.

Takeout in hand she strode inside the familiar art studio. “Rafayel?”

Only silence greeted her. Carefully she set the bags of takeout on the kitchen counter before heading farther into the studio. Perhaps he was in the back store room, or asleep? She strode past several works in progress and a chaotic collection of paint brushes strewn across every open space.

A cool salty breeze slid through the studio, leading the hunter to the open back door. Oh, of course. He was probably swimming then. No wonder he hadn’t responded to her. Even Rafayel didn’t take his phone to the beach. She unbuckled her boots and kicked them off. Her socks were next, rolled off and tucked into her boots. No way was she risking getting sand stuck in her work boots.

She strode through it and headed down to the beach.

It was there she found Rafayel. He was standing in the surf, wearing just his white shirt and black slacks. The surf had soaked his shirt through, giving her a lovely peak of his skin through the see through cloth.

“Raf?” She called softly. “I brought take out.” She walked closer to him.

Rafayel was panting, swaying in place, with a hazy look in his eyes. “Miss bodyguard?”

“Yeah, are you okay?” She asked.

Upon closer inspection she could see more of those beautiful scales starting to crawl their way up his collarbone and neck. Was it his ebb-day again?

He shook his head slowly. “You should leave.” He gasped out. “Something is wrong.”

“Is it your ebb-day again?”

He gave a pained chuckle. “No, there was a wanderer nearby earlier. It did... something...”

Oh, yes the one they’d been hunting all day had been coming in from the beach when they’d caught up to it. But it was only affecting wildlife and pets...

“We just dealt with that one. It caused nearby wildlife to become feral.” She told him, reciting what she had heard Xavier and Jenna speaking about. “The current hypothesis is that it brings out dormant instincts in animals, but we’ve got nothing conclusive right now.” Did it affect the fish at the beach? She knew he was rather in-tune with them.

Rafayel gave an irritated groan. “Messing with dormant instincts, yeah that's, uh, pretty accurate. Can we talk about this later? I need you to leave.”

For a moment she was hurt, then she took a second look at him and pushed it aside. Clearly something was going on with Rafayel. Did the wanderer affect Lemurians?

“Okay,” she said after a moment's thought. “Call me if you need any help.” She took a careful step backward.

Rafayel’s eyes snapped back to her at the movement. He watched her take another step out of the surf, then growled.

She started to turn, intent on waiting for him in his living room, but something cool warped around her ankle and tugged. She had just a moment to see the tendril of water holding her fast, before it wrenched her back into the surf.

Cool arms wrapped around her and tugged her against a hard body. She looked up into his glowing eyes. “Raf?”

“Don’t,” he snarled, tugging her closer. “You can’t leave.” He dragged her backwards into deeper waters. The surf went up past her ankles, her knees, until it was deep enough to touch her hips.

Carefully she spun around in his arms until they were facing each other. “You told me to leave.” she pointed out. She didn’t want to start an argument with him. Clearly he wasn’t quite in control. Who knew the wanderer could do that?

“No, you're mine.” He hissed. “You can’t leave!” There was a feral kind of madness on his face that she wasn’t used to seeing.

She pulled back, trying to escape his hold. For a moment she managed to slip through his grasp. She managed a single step backwards before the sea began to rage around her.

“NO! You can’t leave me!” Rafayel yelled. The sea rose up at its god’s command, wrapping around her and pulling her down. At the same time something hard smashed into the back of her head. The last thing she felt was his arms sliding around her, and his lips sliding against hers as the waters swallowed them whole.

His ‘little miss bodyguard,’ his bride, his mate; she had come.

He’d driven the strange wanderer that was upsetting the fish away, back towards the city. For a moment he had considered chasing it down, only to see familiar glints of light flashing up from a few blocks away. He had no interest in tangling with the damn prince of Philos right now.

Instead he’d stayed on the beach. At first he’d been distracting himself by soothing the local marine life. Then he tried to mediate standing in the waves, focusing on the tides as he struggled to control instincts that normally remained buried.

He had almost gotten himself back under control when she appeared. He heard their heart beating in her chest as she strode barefoot towards him. She was dressed in her uniform, still covered in half dried sweat, but she had a small content smile on her face.

She called for him, voice soft, and cheerfully told him that she’d brought food. How sweet, didn’t she know that was his duty? She should be locked away in either his temple or palace where he could keep her safe and well fed.

No wait... That wasn’t right. This wasn’t his bride. “Miss bodyguard?”

“Yeah, are you okay?” She asked. She had no idea the danger she was in. The danger he was to her right now...

He shook his head, trying to will away the feral hunger crawling up inside of him. “You should leave. Something is wrong.”

Had the wanderer sent him into a rut?

“Is it your ebb-day again?” His forgetful little hunter asked instead of leaving.

Foolish, he could only hold back for so long.  “No, there was a wanderer nearby earlier. It did... something...”

“We just dealt with that one. It caused nearby wildlife to become feral. The current hypothesis is that it brings out dormant instincts in animals, but we’ve got nothing conclusive right now.” She recited all that in a cool tone, like someone giving a report.

He almost broke out in hysterical laughter, but managed to swallow it down. Dormant instincts in animals... Well, apparently Lemurians counted well enough. He groaned. “Messing with dormant instincts, yeah that's, uh, pretty accurate. Can we talk about this later? I need you to leave.”

He needed her to leave before he pulled her into the depths and ruined whatever scraps of friendship they had managed to build. She would never forgive him for what he wanted to do to her.

She hesitated for a moment. “Okay, call me if you need any help.” Then she took a careful step backward.

She was leaving him. Each little step, slow and careful over the wet sand, drew her farther and farther away. Why would she run away? Wasn’t he a good mate? Didn’t she know just how well he could take care of her?

She couldn’t be allowed to leave. What if someone else took her? It wasn’t safe.

She gasped. It was a low sound of shock, not the breathy noise he wanted to pull from her again, the fun one he hadn’t gotten to hear in this lifetime. “Raf?”

“Don’t,” he snarled as she tried to leave again, pulling back from the ocean’s grip. He hadn’t even realized he’d called the sea to restrain her, but... “You can’t leave.”

He dragged her to him, further and further into the ocean until it was lapping at her hips and waist. Until it was just deep enough she would struggle to run if she got away.

“You told me to leave.” she pointed out. That was true, he had, but now she couldn’t leave. He needed to take her to their nest.

“No, you're mine. You can’t leave!”

She didn’t listen. No, instead she tried to run! He let her pull back out of his arms, worried his claws would damage her if he tried to hold on. The sea gripped at her in his stead.

“NO! You can’t leave me!” He couldn’t help but yell as he used the sea to bring her back to him. Why couldn’t she understand it was dangerous up there? She always left and she always got hurt. Human’s were cruel. She needed to come back to his nest where it was safe.

He didn’t want to hurt her, but this was for her own good. It only took a single well aimed strike to knock her out. As she faded into unconsciousness in his arms he gave her a magic filled kiss. His bride could always breathe underwater, a long lasting blessing from the height of his power, but sometimes her body needed to be reminded of that. The ability was not subconscious to her the way it was for Lemuriains.

Once she was breathing properly under the waves he carried her away. There was an underwater cave a small swim away he often rested in when he wanted to be alone. The local marine life knew who territory it was. Even better, the complicated cave currents made swimming back out of it without a tail nearly impossible. She would be safe and contained there, a perfect nest to fulfill his rut inside of.

She awoke in a wash of pleasure and pain. Something wonderfully thick and textured was thrusting in and out of her, stretching her full, and rubbing against all the nice spots inside of her. It didn’t feel like a dick, or any of her personal toys. Not that she owned anything that could thrust on its own.

Had she gone out drinking and taken someone home? Her head was sore enough for that to have been the case, but that didn’t ring any bells to her. She tried to lever herself up. The moment she started to squirm whomever was behind her snarled and pulled her tight against them.

“Shh, don’t struggle cutie.” Rafayel’s familiar voice crooned in her ear. “You don’t want to trigger anymore of my instincts right now.” He laughed.

Despite the strange situation she relaxed. Rafayel would never hurt her. She might not know what was going on, but she knew he’d do his best to keep her safe.

The lemurian thrust inside her again. She shuddered as all her nerves lit up at the sensation. When she gasped in pleasure she realized that it was water and not air filling her lungs. She had to fight off a moment of panic. She’d experienced this before while swimming with Rafayel. Clearly he’d let her breathe underwater again.

She shuddered in his grasp. “W-what’s happening?”

“You don’t remember? Of course not.” He gave a bitter and loaded laugh after speaking.

She tried to twist to face him, but the lemurian wrestled her back into place. “Hey! Just tell me what caused this.”

“Remember the wanderer, the one your team took out? It set off animalistic instincts.” He panted into her ear. The whole time he was still thrusting into her, making her pant and moan beneath him.

She buckled back into him, desperate to be filled even more. Her mind might have been conflicted but her body had clearly already adjusted to this. How long had he been fucking her while she was unconscious? “Y-yeah. It was a few blocks from your studio.”

“I had to drive it away from the beach. Apparently it got me. F-fuck!” He drove into her harder. Lemurian words spilled from his lips as he began to rapidly pound into her. Something squelched out of her, but it felt too thick to be cum. Actually, it felt kind of like jelly.

She felt him swelling inside of her. By now the pain had faded. Maybe she’d finally adjusted to him? Instead her insides felt like they were tingling with pleasure.

One of his hands slid down her front until it was wedged between her legs. He caught her clit between two knuckles, and rubbed it carefully. It was a struggle to speak straight despite both their incoming orgasms. “This isn’t the kind of instincts the wanderer was setting off!”

“I, ahh fuck, I was just feeling territorial, but someone just had to try and run away.” He said.

She writhed against him, eyes fluttering closed. “You told me to leave!”

“And look how well that went.” He groaned, then leant forward and nipped at the column of her throat. “Now don’t struggle too much! I’ll explain later, but I’m trying not to hurt you.”

This time when he thrust into her it felt different. He went farther, then hit something inside her. It felt like the tip of him was sharper, or perhaps slimmer than a normal dick was. Then he hit whatever it was inside of her and pushed passed. Sensations exploded within her.

She didn’t realize she was screaming until Rafayel muffled her. “Sorry, sorry! I know it hurts a bit. The numbing should be more noticeable in a moment. Then it should feel good for you. Please just don’t struggle.

He was, she distantly realized, fucking up past her cervix. She could feel the tip of him deep inside of her where no human man could penetrate. She’d known there was something different about his dick the moment she’d woken up, but now she was starting to suspect ‘tentacle’ would be a better word for it.

He was true to his word too. She could feel more of that jelly-like substance from earlier spilling inside of her womb. When it did the pain receded and a tingling warmth started to fill her up.

“Good, good.” Rafayel moaned. “Just be a perfect little mate and take it. Let me fill you up.” He said.

Well, he was certainly filling up parts of her no one else had. She could feel him rubbing up and down her overly sensitive walls, the ribbing on his member pressing against her g-spot perfectly, and the tip of him plundering inside of her very center. It felt so good now. Like fireworks were erupting in her middle with every thrust. Clearly there was more to whatever he’d pumped her full of than just numbing the pain.

She sobbed softly, her voice still muffled by one of Rafayel’s hands. Everything was all too much, she ground against his hand, and felt herself start to spiral into an orgasm. “Yes,” she said. “Fill me up! I need it!”

Rafayel slid his hands over to her hips and wrenched her back against him. This time when he slid fully inside of her he froze. At first she thought he was coming, like she was, but she didn’t feel it. Instead he swelled even more, until he was firmly lodged inside of her. He was stuck so well in her that despite her frantic writhing in pleasure he didn’t move inside of her. Instead she could feel her entrance tugging around him as she buckled.

He might not have been coming, but something was definitely happening inside of her. She could feel something shift inside of her. It was like something was being pushed through her... being pushed through him and inside of her.

The first of whatever he was pushing inside of her hit her cervix and paused. She could feel it pushing through, stretching the entrance to her womb until finally it slipped through and plopped inside. It was soft and warm. Then it settled inside of her with a splash of more jelly. Rafayel moaned, burying his face into her shoulder to try and muffle the sound.

Were those... eggs?

“Rafe...” She bit her lip and squirmed against him. “Um, are those...?” She couldn’t bring herself to say it.

Another bulge rolled through her, pressing against her sensitive walls as it was shoved through her. It slid through the opening to her womb and plopped inside. She could feel the weight of them inside of her.

Her lemurian let out another moan. “Mmhmm. You're taking them so well. Just a few more cutie.”

As he spoke another egg was being forced inside of her. The speed either seemed to be picking up, or it was getting easier for her body to let them in. When this egg slid in she could feel the weight of it. There was, she realized, a limited amount of space inside of her. The eggs really were starting to fill her up.

“I don’t know if I can fit anymore.”

He laughed meanly and nipped at her shoulder. “You will. Be a good little mate and take my eggs, yeah. I want to see you swollen full with my young.”

He didn’t give her a chance to respond. Instead he thrust back against her, forcing another egg to push its way into her already full womb. She was indeed full. A glance downwards at her stomach showed the skin above her pelvis starting to bulge out slightly.

When the next egg started to slide inside of her, Rafayel reached down again. He slid his fingers back around her clit, starting to rub at her again. “Last one,” he promised.

It was a struggle to get this one in. She was already so full that it felt like she was going to pop. When it finally pushed through and landed in her womb she was left panting in exhaustion.

“Was that it?” She asked quietly.

He nodded. “Yeah, for this time. Just come for me, cutie, and then we’re done.”

She wasn’t sure she wanted to, but Rafayel wasn’t giving her a choice. He rocked back and forth with her, careful not to dislodge himself from her overfilled womb. At the same time he worked her clit in careful movements.

It didn’t take long for her to come, and for him to follow. Her orgasm seemed to sap all of the remaining strength out of her. She was left shuddering against him. Her body held up only by his strength and the cock still lodged deep inside of her.

She could feel the warm splash of his seed inside of her. It spilled over the eggs and filled up her womb. She writhed and struggled to pull away but he easily held her in place. The warmth of him felt like lava inside of her. It left her tingling as his seed overflowed her womb and began to drip  out of her.

The world began to blacken around the edges as she slumped against Rafayel.

“Hmm, did I tucker you out?”
