Chapter Text

It’s been several weeks since your... accidental hook up with Monoma. Neito? Do you get to call him Neito? You thought you were deserving of it, but he’d probably think different. The two of you haven’t spoke in real life since the encounter. There’s been a singular text message exchanged, but nothing more than that. No plans to do it again, no plans for a date. You were slightly offended.

And everytime you reminisce on that night, you wonder how you got yourself in that situation in the first place. You were at a bar, filled with V.I.Ps. Heroes, celebrities, you name it. You liked to go there when you were off and have a few drinks, most times you’d run into someone you knew and have a fun night with them. This time, however, you had run into Monoma.

You went up to him first, a few drinks already in your system. He had changed a lot since U.A. Matured, so to speak, though he still had that air of elegance (maybe arrogance) surrounding him. He had recently broken the top 10 in the hero rankings, so you remember congratulating him. He made a little remark about your “class A-ness”, but made it clear he was just joking.

"I left that in the past. I was just an insecure kid. I’m sorry that I never apologized to you and everyone else I annoyed. And I’m sorry for this crummy apology now.” Is what he said, exactly. You remember the meek look on his face when he said the words “I’m sorry”. Some old habits are hard to break.

You forgave him, of course. You couldn’t speak for the rest of your class, but you found his antics more entertaining than anything.

Everything after that was a blur, and all you remember is waking up with Monoma next to you. Then, the memories of your hook up came flooding back.

You went back to sleep. Except you actually didn’t, you just laid back down and closed your eyes till you heard Monoma awaken. You heard him curse to himself, then quickly yet carefully, shuffle out the bed. His footsteps echoed in your room shortly before you heard the door open, then slowly close. You still didn’t move, not till you heard the same thing happen with your front door.

Then when you finally got up and started moving around, you found a note on the island in you kitchen.

'hope you had as much fun as i did♥︎ xxx-xxx-xxxx'

Is what it said, your name scrawled in the same pretty writing as the rest of the note. To say you were freaking out was an understatement. You took a picture of the note, first sending it to the number written on it, then to Mina. She was going to kill you.

But she didn’t!

So now, here you are again, in the same bar, different contexts. Kendo and Momo organized a reunion for all of class A and class B. This was several months in the making, because no one could agree on a date, but it finally happened. Everyone was together again. You had to practically beg Kirishima and Midoriya to drag Bakugo with them. And for the record, Monoma never texted you back.

Anyway, you and Monoma are now in the same room for the first time since that night. You’ve been staring holes into the back of his head the whole night. You wanted to approach him, but you also wanted him to come to you.

Everyone was mostly keeping to their own old classes, but you, Kendo, and Mina were in your own little group.

“Okay, so… what?!” Kendo gawked at you.

“I know right?!” Mina exclaimed, smacking her arm. She tended to do that when she was gossiping.

“Guys!” You groaned, wanting to sink into yourself.

The two other girls said your name in unison, looking at you, deadpan. “You have to go talk to him.” Mina added, Kendo nodded next to her. She was giving you that class president face she always used to give Monoma. God, all you can think about is Monoma!

“No, I want him to talk to me first!” You repeated your earlier thoughts, subconsciously glancing at Monoma from across the room. He was conversing with Kirishima, Tetsutetsu, and, suprisingly, Bakugo at the bar. He looked so calm, like nothing had even happened. You wondered if he’s told anyone.

“C’mon, we’re gonna get you closer to him.” Kendo grabbed your arm, dragging you over to a table closer to where Monoma and his group were. Mina followed behind, snickering.

“Wait, no I’m nervous!” You whispered, more like stage-whispered so they could hear you over the music playing.

“Girl, don’t be! You can’t be hiding in a corner when you look so sexy!” Mina countered, giggling as she gestured to your outfit. Everyone had agreed to dress up a bit, but you’ve always liked to dress up at every chance you get. Like really dress up.

“Aw, stop it!” You giggled, waving your hand at her and pretending you were flustered. “Okay, no, but seriously.” You spoke, your entire demeanor changing in a second.

“Oh my god, I hate when you do that…” Mina mumbled.

“Do you think he’s thinking about me? Do you think he even cares?!” Kendo and Mina both groaned in sync.

“Yes, obviously.” Kendo spoke, forcing you to sit down at a table (in a spot where you could gaze longingly at Monoma), then sitting in a seat herself, Mina following suit. “Monoma doesn’t just do things like that. If he didn’t care, he wouldn’t have written that stupid note.”

“You showed her the note?” You gawked at Mina, who shrugged.

“I saidddd I told her everything you told me!” She tapped at the wooden table impatiently. Mina had convinced you to tell Kendo, who definitely knows Monoma better than either of you do, in hopes of getting some more insight of what could be happening in his head.

You groaned, also putting your elbows on the table, then resting your chin in one of your palms. Subtly, you tried to look at Monoma, without making it too obvious, of course. Either he has zero sixth sense, or he’s purposefully ignoring you. Most likely the latter, he’s a pro-hero, for goodness sakes! He has to have a sixth sense!

You were tuning out Kendo and Mina as they spoke, but were still able to catch glimpses of the conversation. They were talking about Monoma still.

Then, as if on cue, when the topic finally switched, Monoma got up from his bar stool. He ran a hand through his hair, his lips moving as he said something you couldn’t hear. But he was heading in the direction of the bathrooms.

You waited a second, then stood, the chair you were sitting in dragging across the floor and screeching obnoxiously. Luckily it wasn’t too loud.

“I’m going to the bathroom.” You announced, glancing at both Kendo and Mina. They looked at you like you had three heads, then they looked concerned.

“You want us to come with?” Mina asked.

“Uh, no, I- … I’ll be fine, just need to pee and, like, get some quiet.” You tried to act like you weren’t up to anything, pretty unconvincingly. Still, the other girls just nodded, Kendo gave you a thumbs up.

“Don’t die!” Mina called as you walked off, your heels clicking against the floor with each step.

“Am I really doing this? I’m following a man to the bathroom, like a creep! I’m not a creep… I just want him to talk to me. This isn’t a good way of going about this, is it?” This was just a glimpse of the monologue happening in your head as you walked towards the bathrooms. Once you reached the more secluded area, you leaned against the wall, in the gap between the doors to the men’s and women’s bathrooms. You hoped no one would walk over and ask what you were doing.

After a minute of waiting, you could hear the sound of running water from inside the men’s room, then the sound of the hand dryer… and maybe you were crazy, but you swore you could even hear footsteps approaching the door. It was probably just the pounding of your heart against your ribs.

The men’s door started to open, bright fluorescent light pouring into the dim light of the bar. You caught a glimpse of blond hair.

You ducked into the women’s bathroom before you could actually get a look at his face.

Your body felt like it was on fire as you speed-walked into the closest stall. You leaned against the door, disregarding the sanitary concerns.

“I’m going crazy…” You silently whispered to yourself.
