It all began when Chungwoo and Moondae pulled Eugene into one of the rooms to talk.
What is it this time? Eugene thought. Shit, was he in a dating scandal? He could count all the women he interacted with for the past few weeks in a hand. They were all make-up artists. He also lived a dignified life in school, so school bullying is crossed out. Fuck, was it the bad Cha Eugene?
“It’s bullying rumors,” Moondae said.
“I was never bullied, I never bullied anyone too,” Eugene stated.
“We know,” Chungwoo assured. “You’re a good boy.”
“Why’d you say that like I’m a dog?”
Moondae handed him a tablet. “Just watch,” he said.
It was a video titled “TeSTAR bullying a member?! How long has Kim Raebin been enduring this?” and it had 4 million views. As Eugene watched he realized that it was a compilation of his and Raebin’s interactions arranged in chronological order. These interactions include: Eugene cornering Raebin during a game of tag, Eugene throwing Raebin into a pool, Eugene and Raebin kicking each other, Eugene taking Raebin’s food, and 6 whole minutes of them calling each other names.
The top comments were calling Eugene a harasser and that they should trend #TreatRaebinBetter.
“That’s outrageous!” Eugene exclaimed as he finished the video.
“I know–”
“Kim Raebin hits me too, why is it only me?”
“You guys went viral last week because you kept slapping Raebin’s ass and it was caught in a fancam.”
“That’s normal guy behavior.”
“Stealing his food because it tasted better with his saliva isn’t normal.”

Chungwoo patted his back. “Calm down, because it looks like you’re fighting, we think that you should lessen your interactions together on camera.”
“That’s crazy! I can’t avoid him, he’s my best friend! Wouldn’t it be better if we showcased our friendship and love and brotherhood?”
“We already talked to Raebin and he agreed.”
Raebin probably agreed without question because it was Moondae who talked to him.
That traitor.
“Still, I can’t do this!”
“It’s only on camera, you can still hang out like usual,” Moondae said. “It’s just for a few weeks, until the rumors die down.”
“Do it for Raebin’s sake,” Chungwoo added.
“Yeah, for Raebin,” Moondae agreed.
“I really can’t, my hand automatically seeks his body!” Eugene shouted.
The two were taken aback.
“You sound like a pervert,” Moondae said.
“I can see why they think you’re harassing him,” Chungwoo nodded.
“Come on, hyung, everyone’s at least a little bit in love with their best friends, right?” Eugene looks at his members with anticipation.
Moondae held his forehead. “No, it’s just you,” he disagreed.
“Reel it in, Eugene. As of today, you’re banned from getting close to Raebin on camera.”
“This is the worst,” Eugene said as he walked out of the room.

Comeback promotions were ongoing. Of course, TeSTAR was filming all the time. Sure, Eugene and Raebin hang out. They eat together– Not totally, they’re with the members all the time. Eugene was actively trying to catch Raebin alone and talk to him about everything going on but it looked like he was getting sabotaged by a higher force.
Not that high, but he could tell that his dear beloved hyungs were making it difficult for him to approach Raebin on camera.
But the more you get hindered, the more you just wanna go on a rampage.
Eugene doesn’t, he’s a man of control. He had a reputation to uphold.
The best next thing he could do is bombard Raebin’s phone with messages.

Eugene giggled. Movie night was back on.
Or not.
Because as soon as Eugene woke up, he was met with their manager by their door. The filming of their new show ‘TeSTAR Life’ was today and a whole ass camera crew was on the way to their dorm.
Woah.
Eugene went to the bathroom with a huff to clean himself up for the cameras. There was no need to get a ‘Cha Eugene disrespects director and staff’ article just because he was Raebin deprived. He hurriedly washed his face and fixed his hair— only a little bit, to keep it natural and effortless.
To his surprise, another person was rushing to come into the bathroom.
“Are you done with your business?” Raebin slightly opened the door. “Hurry up, I need to wash up too.”
“I ain’t shitting,” Eugene said, “I’m going to brush my teeth.”
The two brushed their teeth longer than usual, all because Eugene was mirroring Raebin’s every move.
Raebin spat out the foam. “You’re going to overbrush and break your teeth,” he said, bumping Eugene with his hip.
Eugene rinsed his mouth and said “My teeth are perfect, unlike yours with all the energy drinks you drink.”
“What about your addiction to sugar?” Raebin retorted as he flicked water droplets towards Eugene.
“Hey!” Eugene took revenge by doing the same thing.
Raebin was about to pour a handful of water on Eugene when someone knocked.
“Are you guys done?” Chungwoo’s voice was muffled behind the door.
“No,” they said at the same time.
Eugene whispered, “Why did you lock the door?”
“I did?” The two looked at the turned knob. “Force of habit,” Raebin answered.
“Hurry up!”
“Get out if you’re done,” Raebin said as he washed his face.
“No, I have to make sure you look human.”
“I’m fine,” Raebin finished up.
“Really?” Eugene held Raebin’s face and patted him with a face towel.
“I have hands.”
“Congratulations.”
“You’re so annoying!” Raebin pried the towel out of Eugene’s hand and swatted the other away.
“Why are you blushing?”
“It’s friction from the towel!”
“The crew will arrive in a few minutes,” Chungwoo knocked on the door.
“Yes, yes,” Raebin unlocked the door and ran out.
Eugene followed him out.
“Why are you wet?” Bae Sejin said as soon as he saw his two younger members.
Eugene ended up ditching the natural look and changed into a shirt with no creases. But hey, at least he had a light dose of Raebin.

They were filming all the time, and the worst part was Eugene and Raebin never actually talked about the ongoing ban.
They hang out like usual but with supervision from the older members.
Eugene doesn’t get why they’re putting in all this effort to keep him and Raebin away from each other.

He was itching to go on their fan messaging app and tell Loviewers about a cute thing that Raebin did today. The two of them bought snacks and they saw the new can design of the energy drinks that Raebin endorsed. The cans had Raebin’s face on them and Raebin was so flustered. He took a lot of pictures and wanted to share a couple of them but yeah… It’s difficult. In addition to that, Moondae suddenly dragged Raebin to the studio. Eugene was looking forward to eating together but alas, duty calls.
The topics that Eugene talked about in the messaging app revolved around five topics: his love for Loviewers, food, movies, what he did in a day, and Raebin.
Eugene groaned. Four of those already involved Raebin. With no solid outline for the shit he wanted to say, Eugene turned on voice live.
It went well for the most part. Eugene asked the viewers about what they did today and the funny stories they had. His fans had him laughing about a few nonsensical debate questions they asked him.
It was until the live chat spammed Raebin’s name. Good thing he didn’t turn on the camera.
‘Where is Raebinnie?’ a fan said in English.
The most that he could do was answer this question. “Raebin is in the studio with Moondae-hyung,” he said.
If it was any other day, Eugene would follow up with ‘I’m jealous!’ or ramble about Raebin when the fans ask for TMI. As much as he wanted to, he didn’t. Eugene smoothly diverted the topic to the upcoming university entrance examinations and numerous Loviewers cried in the chat.

The dorm was empty and Raebin had just arrived from his solo activities. It was time for Eugene to strike. They finally had the time to watch a movie. He got up from his bed and started packing snacks inside a paper bag and ran to the next room.
He burst through the door. “This is worse than when I had to spend weeks filming up a mountain!” Eugene exclaimed as he got inside Raebin’s room. “Where’s hyung?” he asked.
“Overseas,” Raebin answered, fresh from the shower as he dried his hair with a towel.
“Lucky,” Eugene flopped on Raebin’s bed, “I brought snacks.”
“Thanks,” Raebin picked up the paper bag left on the floor.
Eugene booted up Raebin’s laptop and chose an animated movie. He held it carefully on a small pillow on his lap. The two settled on the bed shoulder to shoulder, leaning on a mountain of pillows.
“You smell good,” Eugene pressed his nose against Raebin’s neck.
“Stop sniffing me!”
Time passed and the amount of popcorn in the tub that Raebin held lessened. They were halfway through the second movie and Eugene slumped against Raebin.
“That’s probably the villain,” Eugene’s voice was muffled by the way his cheek was pressed against Raebin’s shoulder.
“Stop guessing.”
“You only hate it because I guess correctly all the time.”
“Not all the time, you would listen to my comments and claim it as yours.”
“I still get the last say.”
“You’re stealing my thoughts!”
At this point, Eugene no longer cared about the plot of the movie and focused on what he yearned for the most– Raebin’s slightly irritated face. He turned to look at Raebin, an arm wrapping around his waist and slipping a hand under his shirt– a warm palm against cool skin.
“Hey, you’re spilling popcorn all over my bed!”
Eugene reached for the laptop with his free arm and placed it on the nightstand, safe from the commotion– which was Raebin forcefully feeding Eugene all the loose popcorn.
“You’re gonna choke me!” Eugene exclaimed in between chews. He gripped Raebin’s hand that was holding his jaw.
“I won’t if I’m not holding your throat, dummy.”
“You missed me so much you’re getting kinky?”
Raebin stuffed more popcorn in Eugene’s mouth. Eugene eagerly chewed.
“Not even gonna deny it, huh?” With a smirk, he pressed against Raebin and shifted until he was face-to-face with him.
“No touching,” Raebin said and the hand reaching out to him froze, “you have sticky fingers.”
“Yuck,” Eugene collapsed on top of Raebin. He then lazily reached for a pack of wipes in a drawer. “Such a vibe killer.”
“There was no vibe,” he rubbed his hands with a wipe.
“It’s like we’re cleaning up after jerking each other off.”
Raebin tried kicking Eugene but was unsuccessful. “I stand corrected, there was a vibe and you ruined it.”
Eugene balled up the wipes they used and threw them in the trash.
Three points.
“Then let’s bring it back, no problem!” Eugene cradled Raebin’s face with clean hands. “I miss you,” he began, “I miss my best friend, I missed you, can’t I miss you? We used to hang out so much, even in public. I miss when we were trainees and no one knew us and we could do whatever we wanted.”
“You do what you want either way.”
“Do I look like I want to be away from you?”
“Nope, you look like you’re tweaking .”
“Who taught you that?”
“An American rapper at the song camp.”
“I’m tweaking? Really?”
“Really, you aren’t exactly subtle about it.”
Eugene’s hand went down to hold Raebin’s jaw. “What about you?”
“What about me?”
“What do you feel about it? The ban– we never actually talked about it.”
Raebin held Eugene’s wrist. “I don’t like it. It’s weird going live alone. I have to be extra cautious of my actions, especially on camera. It’s additional work and I’m not as good at diverting the attention as you are.”
“When they look for me?”
“Yeah.”
“I can’t do this,” Eugene said.
Raebin ran his fingers through Eugene’s hair. “Do what?” he asked.
“That’s just idiotic,” Eugene sighed then nuzzled against Raebin’s neck, sneaking in a quick lick while he was at it. “You still haven’t said it back.”
“Say what?” Raebin tugged hard on Eugene’s hair to pull him off.
“Kim Raebin, I miss you. I missed you so much Raebin - ah. Kim Raebin, don't you miss me back? How cruel!” he whined.
“I missed you,” Raebin said as he wrapped his arms around Eugene’s neck in a hug.

Three weeks went by peacefully… until they had to go live to promote the soundtrack they made for an anime.
It all started with a couch and three chairs. Chungwoo, Bae Sejin, and Lee Sejin sat on the chairs while Eugene, Ahyeon, Moondae, and Raebin sat on the couch in front of them.
“Take your star! Hello, we are TeSTAR!”
“Hey Loviewers!”
“Hi everyone! Have you eaten?”
After exchanging pleasantries with their fans, TeSTAR proceeded to talk about how they enjoyed watching the anime they made a soundtrack for.
“I was a big fan of the light novel so it was an honor to partake in the soundtrack of this series,” Bae Sejin said.
“Guys! If you’re observant, you might pick up a few easter eggs,” Lee Sejin said.
“That’s right, if you are truly fans of TeSTAR, you’ll notice right away.”
“Want to spoil something hyung?” Eugene asked Ahyeon.
“Loviewers should… listen very very carefully!” Ahyeon smiled.
“Moondae?”
“One word, it’s ‘voice’.”
“Good one!”
“How about you, Raebin? Any TMI?”
“I tried to immerse myself in the worldview of the series by reading the original novel and watching the earlier seasons of the series. It really helped with the creative process,” he said.
“He immersed himself so much that he dreams about the characters,” Eugene piped.
“I do not!” Raebin denied.
Eugene winked at him. “He does.”
“Yeah.”
“He dreams vividly too.”
“Anyway, shall we start playing the games we prepared?” Chungwoo asked.
“Right, we prepared a lot of fun for Loviewers today!” Lee Sejin said. “Who wants to volunteer for the first game?”
“Moondae-hyung and I will play first,” Eugene stood up and pulled Moondae along with him.
They absolutely crushed it at character charades against Raebin and Chungwoo.
The next game was to guess the character being drawn blindfolded. Ahyeon and Lee Sejin teamed up against Bae Sejin and Chungwoo. Moondae was tasked to facilitate.
They took up the space in front of the camera, obstructing the viewers’ view of the non-participating members sitting on the couch.
Eugene leaned on Raebin as their hyungs competed against each other.
“Hey,” Raebin whispered.
“What?”
“You’re too close.”
Instead of pulling away, Eugene took one of Raebin’s legs and placed it over his lap. “The ban’s over,” he said.
“Still–”
“Don’t worry about it,” Eugene patted Raebin’s thigh in comfort.
He was expecting the rough texture of denim but was met with skin and frayed threads. He looked at Raebin’s jeans. It was stylishly distressed, with numerous holes of different sizes. The largest one just happened to be on Raebin’s thigh.
Eugene slipped a finger under the frayed threads.
Woah.
He already knew that Raebin’s skin was smooth because he took care of himself very well. Eugene liked touching Raebin’s face, it's surprisingly clear for someone who never slept. He liked Raebin’s shoulders too, it became broader over the years. His favorite? Raebin’s hands. He liked his hands the best. Why? It makes art.
But it was the first time Eugene touched Raebin’s bare upper thigh on purpose. And it was… It was something.
Eugene knew that he needed more.

“Hey, Cha Eugene. What do you think you’re doing?” Raebin nudged him.
Eugene’s brows furrowed. He slipped two more fingers between the ripped part of Raebin’s jeans.
Raebin shifted closer, covering his mouth as he whispered, “We’re on camera.”
“That’s what you’re worrying about?” Eugene rubbed Raebin’s thigh, his warm palm pressing against cool skin.
Raebin squirmed.
“Eugene, you–”
Rip.
The strands of thread broke and the hole in Raebin’s jeans gaped open.
Raebin nudged Eugene’s hand off him and sat properly.
Eugene took off his jacket and draped it over Raebin’s legs.
“You have to apologize to the stylist later because this isn’t mine,” Raebin sighed.
“Well, shit.”
Eugene ended up apologizing to two more people that night.
“You were groping him on camera,” Chungwoo stated.
“He wasn’t groping me!” Raebin denied. “He was just fidgeting with the rips on my jeans.”
“Defending him is no use when you’re at fault too.”
“I’m sorry we weren’t careful. We let ourselves get distracted and forget that we are public figures that could be targeted with mass scrutiny. It’ll never happen again. I promise,” Raebin said.
“Eugene, don’t you have anything to say?” Moondae asked.
“Love is love,” he said in English.
Moondae wanted to bash his head on the table, but he didn’t.
“Both of you, banned. No SNS too.”
“But–”
“Please listen to me, do not go on SNS. You'll see shit you don't need to see, we’re only worried about you.”

Eugene ended up being on his phone all night.
It's not like he meant to but when he saw whole threads of outsiders dissecting his relationship with Raebin, he couldn’t just put his phone down.
Morning came. Eugene’s face was puffy as fuck, eyes red, and voice hoarse. He went to dance practice in a face mask.
To the staff, he looked sick. They took extra care of him that day– asking him if he needed a trip to the hospital or if he needed to go home.
Eugene refused.
To his members, Eugene had the right to react that way. An idol's livelihood was his presence, and losing that even for a while was going to take a toll on him and his fans, plus, most of them witnessed how Eugene stifled his sobs last night.
Eugene tried smiling like usual despite the initial embarrassment.
To Raebin, it was obvious that Eugene was starting to avoid him. It may not be noticed by others but to him, it was very clear.
Days passed like this.
Sure, Eugene still sought him out to watch movies in the dorms, sat next to him, and shared his snacks, but he only touched Raebin a couple of times this week. Once he handed Raebin a bottle of water (an unopened one, not the usual half for them to share) and the second time was when he guided Raebin to the right formation.
But that was it.
Since Raebin was banned from going on social media, he focused on making more music. He took the ban seriously to the point of uninstalling some apps.
Unlike some idiot he knew.
Raebin shook his head and continued working through the night.
Until someone took his headphones off his ears.
“Hey!”
“It’s 11:00 p.m., have you eaten dinner?”
Raebin turned around to see Eugene, who was carrying bags of food.
He was all bundled up in a face mask, hoodie, and coat. But when Raebin’s gaze fell below, he was wearing shorts.
“Why did you even wrap yourself up when you are going to wear shorts anyway?” he asked.
“I’m stronger than the weather,” Eugene said, taking off his mask and coat.
“That’s a stupid thing to believe in.”
“Have you eaten?”
Raebin shook his head.
“Ha, I knew it. Come, let’s eat.”
Eugene cleared out the coffee table and took out the food from their packaging.
“Thanks.”
“I knew you’d forget to take care of yourself.”
What the hell is this idiot’s problem this time? Raebin thought. I thought he’s avoiding me but why is he here?
They sat on the couch while Raebin talked about his progress. Eugene was sitting next to him with his arms crossed. There was ample space between them.
It was far from Eugene’s usual behavior of rubbing himself all over Raebin like a cat scenting its owner.
Well, at least he wasn’t being crushed by the weight of a full-grown man.
But it's not right.
Placing his hand on Eugene’s knee, Raebin asked “Cha Eugene, what do you think off looping this part–”
Eugene flinched, moving away.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“No, I’m going crazy,” Eugene sighed, rubbing his face with his hands.
“What are you talking about?” Raebin poked his shoulder.
“Don’t touch me, if you touch me I’ll touch you back.”
“Are you five? What is that mindset?”
“You would choose five-year-old Eugene over five Eugenes.”
“That’s not the point, what's wrong with me touching you?” Raebin asked as he grabbed Eugene’s arm.
“Kim Raebin, do I make you uncomfortable?”
“What the hell are you talking about? You dummy!” Raebin punched Eugene’s shoulder.
“Stop calling me a dummy first!”
“Dumbass!”
“Hey, Kim Raebin–”
“You know you don’t! That’s not true! Is that why you were avoiding me?”
“I’m not avoiding you, I’m protecting you!”
“You can’t protect me when you listen to strangers online.”
“But–” Eugene wiped the corner of his eyes.
“Cha Eugene, why are you crying?”
“I don’t know!”
“Let’s eat first,” Raebin said.
Raebin’s stomach growled. Eugene brought Thai food, it was from the restaurant they frequently went to.
Eugene ate as he sniffled. His eyes were red from crying all of a sudden. His cheeks were full as he chewed. Eugene was a cute crier.
Raebin sighed. He stood and then moved to sit next to Eugene.
“I’m sorry for yelling at you.”
“Not the point,” Eugene slurred.
“You do not make me uncomfortable, so do not go avoiding me for no reason, okay? You are only making it difficult for yourself– me too, I don’t like it when you avoid me. Do not avoid me next time,” Raebin said, talking fast.
“I don’t know it anymore, I feel like everyone’s depriving me of you.”
“You avoided me, dummy, that’s your own doing.”
“No! Why are they banning us from expressing ourselves? I thought the hyungs were on our side?”
“They are! They are just protecting us. It’s an SNS ban, not banning us from each other! You know how things are here compared to the States.”
“Then let’s go there!”
“You’re crazy.”
“It’s not like we owe anyone!”
“Then why are you taking what strangers say about us to heart?”
“I can take the hate but not when it's the two of us.”
“So you started avoiding me because of it?”
“Now that I think about it, it does sound stupid as fuck,” Eugene chuckled.
Raebin laughed.
“Eugene-ah, we can't let people on the internet dictate what we mean to each other,” he said, reaching for Eugene’s hand and holding it.
“But they think I’m harassing you!”
“It’s not harassment when I like it!”
“You like being harassed?” Eugene exclaimed.
“Are you stupid Cha Eugene? That’s not what I meant!”
“I know, I know, I’m messing with you,” Eugene smiled as he shook their clasped hands. “So you like to hold me?”
“I do.”
“Despite me being pushy and shit? Despite me forcing you?”
Raebin shook his head. “You are clingy at most.”
“I’m just saying–”
“I will return the favor and be more assertive if that’s what you want.”
“Yes! I would love that–”
Raebin pressed Eugene down on the couch, cutting him off.
“Kim Raebin?”
“If they are going to call you forceful, then count me in too.”
“What are you gonna do?” Eugene smirked below him. “You’re thinking of naughty things.”
“Shut up, be quiet!”
“Wow! So dominant!”
Raebin blushed down to his neck. “This is so embarrassing!”
Suddenly, Eugene wrapped his arms around Raebin’s neck and planted a wet kiss on his cheek.
“Cha Eugene!” Raebin exclaimed as he was pulled on top of Eugene.
“You’re so slow!”
“Stop complaining! I’ll ignore you back!”
Raebin steadied himself with a hand on the armrest and another on Eugene’s shoulder.
“You have to be more forceful than that–”
Raebin placed a hand on one of Eugene’s breasts.
“So, you’re a boob guy?”
“No…”
“Then what do you like the most?”
“Eyes.”
“That’s a cute answer, what’s next?”
“Teeth.”
Eugene smiled widely, showing off his canines.
“Only my face?”
Raebin dragged his hand down to Eugene’s stomach and lower.
“Kim Raebin? I didn’t lock the–”
Raebin’s hand went lower and stopped on one of his thighs.
“I thought you were gonna stick your hand in my shorts. You’re so respectful, Kim Raebin.”
“Do you want me to?”
Without waiting for Eugene’s reply, he slid his hand under Eugene’s shorts and caressed his thigh.
It was firm, warm, and muscular. Raebin gripped hard.
Eugene groaned. “Not what I was thinking, but I get it, I like your thighs too!”
“I know, we are not allowed to be on SNS because of it.”
“Wow, Kim Raebin! Your face is so red!”
Raebin got off Eugene and covered his face. “Let’s continue eating.”
“Fine,” Eugene stood up.
With both relatively calmer, they ate in peace.
“This is good.”
“I know, we haven’t eaten Thai food in weeks.”
“Eugene-ah?”
“Yeah?”
“We know each other best.”
“I know, reel it in, and don’t care too much just enough, and don’t take what they say to heart, and I can’t blame the hyungs, and I can’t come out on camera, and don’t avoid Kim Raebin because of stupid reasons.”
Raebin nodded.
“We’ll be patient, I’ll be patient,” Eugene promised.
“I think I should be more assertive on camera so it will not be all on you.”
“I don’t want #KIMRAEBINHARASSER to trend!”
“They think I am being harassed because I do not reciprocate your affection and that I am just being caught up in your whirlwind.”
“Seems like someone also went on social media,” Eugene scoffed.
“Not as much as you!”
“How do you plan on reciprocating? Are you gonna grab my ass on camera too?”
“I’m not an action guy like you.”
“Then I’ll see when the ban ends,” Eugene grinned. “But I also want to see you be more assertive off-camera.”
With a huff, Raebin grabbed Eugene’s jaw and pulled him into a kiss.
