Chapter Text

Year 2087, Gojo Estate

The dimly lit room was filled with sobs and whimpers. The sound of the heart-rate monitor was ticking loud and the atmosphere was rough. An old dying man was lying on the bed, surrounded by loved ones.

“Tsurugi…” the 86-year old Okkotsu Yuta called. His eyes were misty as he looked at his grandson. “Take care of your sister, okay?”

Taki pursed his lips tight together. “Gramps…”

“Grandpa!” Yuuka, Tsurugi’s younger sister, cried loudly. She hugged their grandfather by his waist. “Please! Not yet!”

“You’re strong… both of you,” the frail and weak Yuta continued. He caressed his granddaughter’s dark hair. “Yuuka you’re so much like me. It was a blessing and a curse. I’m sorry.”

Darkness of the sky showed through the wooden windows. The entire Gojo estate was filled with tense and worry, knowing that their strong and kind leader for how many years was on the verge of his death.

Yuuka shook her head fast, tears fell rapidly from her bright blue eyes. “It doesn’t matter! Grandpa! Please, don’t leave us yet!”

The old man smiled then looked at Taki, his eyes turned soft. “Tsurugi… you remind me so much of your grandmother. I miss her…”

“Gramps…” Tsurugi choked. He didn’t know what else to say.

His grandfather would always tell him the same words ever since he was young. That he was strong and tough like their grandmother. Tsurugi and Yuuka never met her, but their grandfather kept her memory alive for them.

Tsurugi felt pride whenever Yuta would tell him the story of how his grandmother became one of the strongest in the jujutsu sorcerers. He had taken, not only his grandmother’s eyes and hair but also her strength.

“And also some of her stubborn characteristics”, his grandfather added fondly then laughed.

Tsurugi could tell that his grandparents had a happy life together. They loved each other despite everything that happened in their lives. Despite the tradegy and loss. They were content.

That was… before Tsurugi and Yuuka born.

A tear dropped from Yuta’s eye, he smiled as he looked up to the ceiling. “I can finally see her again.”

The beeping on the machine slowed down. The two young children watched as their grandfather held his last breath.

“Maki…” Yuta whispered lastly and the light in his eyes faded.

A few seconds of silence and it turned into loud cries.

One of the strongest special-grade jujutsu sorcerers and the decades-long Gojo clan leader Okkotsu Yuta was no more.
