Work Text:
It had been a relentless day for Robyn—chasing leads, pushing past exhaustion, and fighting against time to rescue a kidnapped, pregnant young woman. The woman, Maya, had been snatched by a rogue nurse running an illegal adoption ring, one that would have cost Maya her life once her baby was delivered. But thanks to McCall and her team, they found Maya just in time, saving both mother and child.
On the other side of town, Marcus had his own emotional whirlwind—meeting his brother, James, for the first time as they visited their father. The reunion wasn’t exactly perfect, but it was a start. Now, standing in his dimly lit apartment, phone in hand, Marcus smiled to himself as he prepared to FaceTime the woman who had become the best part of his days. Just seeing Robyn’s name on his screen sent a rush of warmth through him.
When her face popped up, radiant despite the exhaustion in her eyes, his heart skipped.
“Hey baby,” she greeted, her smile lighting up his screen.
“Hey babe,” he murmured, matching her smile. “You okay?”
“Just tired. Had quite the case today,” she exhaled, leaning back against her couch. They talked for a while, Marcus recounting his day, his voice a soothing balm after everything Robyn had been through.
“Sounds like you had a big day,” she noted, listening attentively.
“Yeah. No one’s really sure how much of Pop’s memory is actually back. The doctors describe it like broken glass—fragments, gaps in between.”
“Well, I’m just glad he’s back and safe.” Robyn tilted her head slightly. “And James? How did you leave things with him?”
“I reached out. Now the ball’s in his court,” Marcus admitted.
Robyn’s voice softened. “Don’t forget, it took you a while to come around to the idea of him. Give your brother the same chance. It might take him a minute to get used to having you in his life.”
Marcus sighed, nodding. “Yeah. You’re right. And thank you—for always listening.” His tone dipped, a playful edge slipping in. “Of course, I wouldn’t mind having a little more of you.”
“Oh really? Which parts?” she teased, leaning forward slightly.
“How much time you got? I got a long list.”
She smirked. “How long?”
“What’s at the top?”
Marcus’s voice dropped as he began listing them, one by one, in a tone that sent a shiver down her spine. “Your lips… your neck… those gorgeous eyes…”
Their conversation took a delicious turn, the heat between them simmering over, until suddenly, his phone screen went dark. Dead battery. Robyn groaned, trying to call him back twice. No answer.
Worry gnawed at her. Without thinking, she grabbed her keys and coat, slipping into her car. The 45-minute drive to Marcus’s place felt like mere moments. Before she knew it, she was standing outside his door, ringing the bell.
When he finally opened it, his brows lifted in surprise. “Rob, what are you doing here?”
She pushed past him, stepping inside without hesitation. “You didn’t answer, and our call ended so suddenly. I got worried.” Her voice wavered slightly, betraying more emotion than she’d planned.
His expression softened as he reached for her hands, drawing her into his warmth. “My phone died, babe. I just got home, put it on the charger. I’m sorry I worried you.” He pressed a lingering kiss to her forehead, his arms tightening around her.
She exhaled against his chest. “Well, I’m here now.”
Pulling back, she slid off her coat, revealing a silky grey pajama set that clung to her in all the right places. Marcus swallowed, his gaze darkening. She turned and made her way up the stairs.
“Uh… babe? Where are you going?” he asked, amusement laced with desire in his voice.
“To your bedroom.” She threw him a smirk over her shoulder. “You don’t seriously think I’m driving back home at this hour, do you? And besides… you never finished your list.”
Marcus let out a low chuckle, quickly catching up to her. “Well then, allow me to lead the way.”
As soon as he was in front of her, his lips found hers, capturing her in a kiss that sent heat pooling in her stomach. He backed her toward the bedroom, their mouths never parting. Robyn moaned softly, fingers threading into his hair.
“I can’t see where I’m going, babe,” she murmured between kisses.
“You don’t need to. I know exactly where we’re going. Just trust me.”
They tumbled onto the bed, their lips locked in a slow-burning battle of need. Minutes turned to eternity as they explored each other, fingers tracing, mouths discovering. When Marcus finally pulled away, breathless, he whispered, “I need a shower.”
An idea sparked in Robyn’s mind, and she stood, sauntering toward the bathroom. She stopped just at the door, facing him as she began unbuttoning her pajama top—one button at a time, a teasing glint in her eye. Marcus’s gaze darkened, his jaw tightening.
The fabric slipped off her shoulders, pooling at her feet. She turned and disappeared into the bathroom, the sound of running water breaking the silence. Marcus stood frozen for a second before his senses returned, and he followed her in.
Under the warm spray, he worshipped her, his mouth tracing every inch of her skin. The way he took his time unraveling her, coaxing out breathless moans, made her knees tremble. He smirked against her thigh, pride swelling at the way she came undone beneath his touch.
By the time they stumbled back into bed, bodies slick and glowing, Robyn felt utterly weightless. Marcus hovered above her, brushing damp strands from her face.
“You good, babe?” he murmured, trailing kisses along her jaw.
“More than good,” she whispered, her fingers dancing over his shoulders. “But you know what I’d love even more?”
“What’s that?”
“If you made love to me, Marcus.”
A slow, wicked smile spread across his lips. He didn’t need to be told twice. He took his time, exploring her body like a man memorizing his favorite work of art. Every touch, every kiss, was deliberate—meant to drive her to the edge and pull her back, only to send her spiraling again.
When he finally sank into her, they both groaned, moving in sync, the world outside disappearing. He whispered her name like a prayer, pressing his forehead to hers as pleasure built between them. When Robyn shattered beneath him, calling his name, it was all he needed to follow her over the edge.
They lay tangled together, bodies spent but hearts racing. Marcus pressed slow, lingering kisses to her skin, savoring every second.
As she nestled against him, fingers tracing lazy patterns on his chest, the words slipped from her lips before she could stop them. “I love you, Marcus.”
She lifted her gaze to meet his, unsure of what to expect. But his eyes held nothing but warmth as he cupped her cheek, his thumb brushing over her lips.
“I love you too, Robyn.”
Their lips met once more, sealing the moment in something deeper than passion—something undeniable. And as they lay wrapped in each other’s arms, the night carried them into peaceful, blissful sleep.
