FYI, I had drafted this story for a different platform before I stopped writing. Just got back to writing again and decided to continue the story. You'll see quick updates at first before it slows down to chapter uploads either once a week or every other week.

Thanks for picking up my story! Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: Foward

Chapter Text

The kingdom of Lumina was a place bound by tradition, where the ruling family, House Alaric, upheld strict societal hierarchies. For generations, alphas had been revered as natural leaders—strong, dominant, and born to rule. Their assertive presence and ability to command respect through their very scent made them idealized sovereigns.

Betas formed the dependable backbone of the realm, respected for their even-keeled nature and ability to serve loyally. But omegas were viewed through a different lens entirely. Their nurturing instincts, empathy, and calm dispositions were seen as antithetical to effective leadership. Omegas were expected to submit, to support from the shadows - their roles restricted to domestic life or strategic marriages to continue noble bloodlines.

Yet Princess Lingling, heir to the Luminian throne, carried a guarded secret that could upend centuries of tradition. Though outwardly groomed for her future role with all the expected alpha qualities—commanding presence, decisive action, and a mind for strategy and statecraft—Lingling's true nature was that of an omega... a designation that, despite her noble birth, relegated her to a position of supposed inferiority in a society deeply entrenched in outdated norms.

While she exhibited many characteristics aligned with those of traditional alpha rulers, Lingling lacked the physiological hallmarks. No intimidating alpha pheromones or domineering scent announced her presence. Instead, she led through compassionate wisdom, emotional intelligence, and the ability to foster loyalty through empathy rather than dominance.

From a young age, her omega nature brought quiet disappointment from her parents. Though Lingling excelled in her royal education, her omega tendencies were seen as a deficiency, something to be restrained rather than embraced as a strength. King Cedric, an alpha himself, prioritized maintaining the kingdom's stability through adherence to tradition. Queen Isabella, a beta, felt torn between her affection for her daughter and the pressures of conformity.

Yet Lingling defied their expectations at every turn. Where they hoped to mold an alpha heir, she tempered society's rigid alpha attributes with the empathy and nurturing nature intrinsic to her omega self. Her inquisitive mind led her to secretly devour tales of love and philosophy from the royal libraries. In those quiet moments, she envisioned a realm where rigid hierarchies did not dictate one's potential.

As she matured, Lingling's seemingly contradictory traits blended to create a formidable presence. The controlled confidence expected of an alpha co-existed with her natural omega tendency to lead with wisdom and compassion. In diplomacy, she commanded attention through her intellect and emotional astuteness, winning alliances without the typical dominance.

Among her people, her ability to nurture and empathize formed an unbreakable bond where her compassion remained a driving force. She listened to the concerns of the courtiers, empathized with their struggles, and sought to make a positive impact wherever she could. Her interactions with the people of Lumina endeared her to the kingdom, as her genuine interest in their well-being transcended her royal status. The people of Lumina adored their princess for more than her title and held her in high esteem, not just for her royal status but for the kindness and authenticity she brought to her role. She was known to walk among them without an air of superiority, and her visits were anticipated events that brought a sense of unity and pride to the kingdom.

Within the court, however, Lingling remained guarded. Though she earned respect and admiration, the stigma of being an omega in the highest ranks of power lingered. Each accomplishment seemed to strengthen her parents' shame and disapproval over their only heir's true nature.

It was a contradiction that weighed heavily on the princess's shoulders—beloved by her people for the very quality her kin saw as a weakness. As the burden of Lumina's legacy loomed ever closer, Lingling struggled to find her place between the unyielding traditions of the past and the progressive ideals she secretly hoped to uphold.

How could she ascend the throne authentically as an omega in an alphas' realm? Would the kingdom accept her once her coveted secret was revealed? These questions burned in her restless mind, even as a part of her yearned to someday experience a love unshackled by the oppressive confines of the ancient hierarchies...
