Work Text:

“What is that?” Jayce asks, eyes only barely torn away from his work as Viktor pops a pill into his mouth, standing in the middle of the kitchen, their kitchen. The past few months had been a bit of a whirlwind, kind of just getting things done on paper as fast as possible. They’ll have their fun with a ceremony later, but once Jayce got properly on one knee (in private, like he was sure Viktor would prefer) Jayce wanted them to get them at least officially married as fast as possible.

Viktor didn’t really get the worry, however he was all about skipping a big fancy ceremony, so a small courthouse wedding would do him just fine. The only real stressor either of them faced was meeting Viktor’s dads. Meeting Ximena had been a walk in the park, she was a wonderful woman, so kind, so eager to see Jayce happy with someone.

Viktor’s dads, Vander and Silco, couldn’t make it until the day of, so Jayce had to cold meet them at the courthouse.

Jayce told him later that he nearly threw up from the stress.

“It’s my birth control,” Viktor dismisses, simple, easy, but the look Jayce gives him makes his eyebrows furrow. It’s not upset, just confused. “What? We’re married. I moved in two weeks ago and this is the first time you’re seeing me take them?” Viktor puts the pill pack back into the drawer and looks at Jayce, “Unless you want a little Jayceling running around.” Viktor snorts, joking, but the way Jayce’s face flushes makes Viktor pause. “Oh my god you do.” Viktor huffs in exasperation

Jayce’s arms immediately come up to defend himself, “What? No! No, I didn’t say that! I just- I didn’t know you… needed it.”

“Of course I need it.” Viktor laughs a little at him, “I still have a fully functional uterus. What, you’ve been coming in me this whole time you never thought about birth control? You’re a very intelligent man, Jayce, this is beneath you.”

“I thought,” Jayce starts, frowns, “I thought the hormones…”

“Ah,” Viktor nods in understanding, the kind of thing he can’t necessarily expect Jayce to know, he comes over to the table to sit across from Jayce. “Certainly makes it more difficult, but no, hormones alone will not prevent pregnancy. Hence the pills.” He leans his crutch against the wall and he rests his chin on his palm, watching Jayce over the table. Jayce is looking down at his notes, but he certainly isn’t focused on them, they are merely an excuse to not look at Viktor, even as his cheeks heat up ever brighter from embarrassment at being caught.

“Do you?” Viktor asks softly, after a few minutes of quiet. Jayce looks up at him, an eyebrow quirked up at the question. “Want little Jaycelings running around, I mean.” He runs his fingers on the table like little feet, he imagines a child. He imagines Jayce holding a baby and his own face heats up a little at the idea.

“Maybe.” Jayce mumbles, then shakes his head, twisting his pen in his hands, “Yes. You?”

Viktor hums, thinks about how he wants to answer, what he wants to reveal to Jayce and what he wants to keep to himself. But this is, unfortunately, a somewhat important discussion for a relationship that’s going to last for a long time, and something they probably should have talked about before they stuck rings on each other’s fingers, Viktor thinks as he absently twists his own silver band around his finger. “I…” he frowns. “My body… I do not think it will be able to carry. I’ve. Had pregnancies, years ago” Viktor’s voice is slow, measured, he doesn’t want to give away too much of his own feelings, but even he can hear the way it starts to shake with anxiety as he talks, “They both ended in less than eight weeks.” Jayce is watching him now, he doesn’t say anything, but he reaches and takes Viktor’s hand, giving it a gentle squeeze, “So while, yes, I do think a little Jayceling would be wonderful,” he smiles at the idea, a little clone of his new husband smiling up at him, “I… have my doubts that my body could provide.”

Jayce watches him, he nods a little, “It’s okay.” Jayce murmurs, “Maybe we can adopt or something.”

Viktor huffs a little laugh, he nods . He hates how much the idea feels like a knife in the chest. It would be the less painful option, surely. “Yes. Perhaps.” He looks down at his hand, where Jayce is holding it so softly, rubbing his thumb in gentle circles over the backs of his knuckles.

Viktor’s heart thrums in his chest. The idea of having a child with Jayce is certainly something. A child at all is something he hasn’t thought about in years, not since the last time he found himself staring at a pair of blue lines. He never pictured himself as a parent, but the first time he got pregnant, purely by accident, he found himself excited at the idea.

Just excited enough for it to feel devastating when he started bleeding and just wouldn’t stop.

The second time, just a year later, he was almost excited again. He’d been told at that point that miscarrying the first time wasn’t uncommon, but he’d have better luck the second time, if he got pregnant again, and then he did.

And he found himself getting excited at the idea again, only for the second to end sooner than the first.

He’s been on birth control ever since.

The idea of going through it again is hard, but he wouldn’t be virtually alone this time. His past times were random hook ups, too many partners to even deduce who the father might be, and his family living half the country away all they could do was talk him through it over the phone.

At least this time he’d have Jayce, right by his side.

“I would try.” Viktor murmurs. “With you. I’d be willing to try again.”

“Don’t push yourself, Viktor.” He knows he’s given away more than he means, usually so good at keeping his feelings under wraps but Jayce makes it easy to let them out. Jayce’s hand comes up to cup his cheek, and only when he wipes it away does Viktor realize a tear is falling down his cheek. “I don’t want you to put yourself through that again if you don’t feel like you can handle it.”

Viktor leans into his touch. He swallows a little and he kisses Jayce’s palm. “I believe,” he starts, “that the third time is the charm?” He smiles a little, and it earns a chuckle from Jayce.

He doesn’t stop taking the pills right away, they take their time with the idea, Viktor finishes out the month and as he’s popping the last pill from the aluminum packaging he finds himself taking a shaky breath at the idea of not refilling it. He pops it into his mouth and follows it with a mouthful of water. Then he heads to the living room, where Jayce is sitting on his laptop, and he holds up the pill pack between two fingers.

“I just took my last pill.” He announces to the room, which gets Jayce’s attention up from his laptop screen, watching him from across the room. “Am I going to the pharmacy after work for a refill, or not?”

Jayce looks at him, then the pack, and then back to him. His eyes are big and he’s thinking for a long moment before he sets his laptop aside and pushes up off the couch. “No.” Jayce crosses the room to stand in front of Viktor relatively quickly, wrapping his arms around his waist and pulling him into a quick kiss. “Don’t refill it.”

“Then I will not.” Viktor smiles, and he tosses the empty blister pack into a nearby trash can. His heart is fluttering in his chest, and he isn’t sure if it’s from nerves or excitement or some twisting combination of the two. “It’s okay,” Jayce murmurs against his jaw, and Viktor only then realizes his hands are shaking where they’re tangled in Jayce’s shirt. “It’s gonna be okay. We… We don’t have to. We don’t have to, if you’re not ready.”

“I’m ready,” Viktor says, more convincing himself, but. No, he’s sure. He wants to try this, with Jayce. His Jayce. A little piece of them.

Jayce kisses a trail up his jaw to his ear, “I’m excited.” he laughs, and the breath against his ear makes Viktor shiver, nodding. “How long before…”

“Ah, it… Takes a few days to really work its way out. But after that it should be as easy as having sex on the right day.”

“Right,” Jayce smiles, “I doubt we’ll have a problem with forgetting about that.” The way Jayce laughs lightly eases Viktor’s tension. “You’re sure you’re okay?” Jayce asks again, rubbing Viktor’s shoulders.

“Yes, Jayce,” Viktor sighs, “I’m sure. Just nervous. But can you blame me?”

“Not in the slightest.” Jayce kisses the mole on his cheekbone, “But you’ve got me. I’m right here by your side, okay? I’ve got you. No matter what happens. And we only have to try as many times as you’re comfortable. Hell, if in two days you change your mind I’m not gonna be mad.”

Viktor nods. Jayce’s reassurances easing the tension in his shoulders a bit more. Not that he was particularly worried about Jayce being upset.

No, that’s not what he’s worried about. Jayce would be very understanding, would encourage Viktor in whatever he chose. Jayce’s judgement is the least of Viktor’s worries. What he’s worried about is whether his body is going to let him down again or not.

He takes a steadying breath, and Jayce continues to hold him and rub his arms until he finally feels calm enough to keep himself steady. He gives Jayce a kiss goodbye before he pulls away, to go get ready for his own day at work

In the shower he rests his head on the wall, one hand ghosting fingers across his abdomen as he imagines it. His heart stutters at the image of red in his mind, and the aching pain of cramps in his stomach and he shakes his head, rubbing his eyes. It’ll be okay. He has Jayce this time.

Jayce is already gone for work by the time Viktor gets out of the shower, so he has the apartment to himself, Jayce’s apartment. For now. It’s been almost a month since he moved in and living with Jayce has been wonderful.

Jayce can cook, which is nice, because Viktor certainly can’t, so he actually gets real food sometimes. Jayce is a little messy, but he always knows where everything is, even if it doesn’t make sense. Plus there’s the round the clock orgasms.

Yeah, living with Jayce has been nice.

Viktor almost goes to the pharmacy after work, running on autopilot with his music in his ears and social media scrolling his phone, but he catches himself before he gets off the bus. He rides home looking up baby names, to try and give himself something nice to think about. He finds a few that he writes down, though some part of him nags at him that he’s being silly.

There’s no point in writing names down, you’re not going to need them anyways, right?

Viktor gets off the bus and heads into the apartment. He’s home before Jayce, so he has to let himself in, he drops his bag on the table and he drops into a chair, face in his hands.

Is he really ready for this?

The idea makes his heart ache, but he still can’t tell if it’s a good ache or a bad one. The image of Jayce in his mind, cradling a little one that they created. That gets his heart hammering in his chest, and certainly it’s in a positive way. He smiles at the mental image. Jayce is so big, a baby would look positively tiny in his hands. Viktor laughs a little.

He hugs himself a bit tighter and he takes a slow, deep breath. He’s okay. He rubs his face and pushes out of his chair, he grabs his crutch and heads for the bathroom to shower for the second time that day and clear his head.

It only kind of helps, he tries to think about names again. That helps more. Picturing little faces and the names that might fit them best. He wonders if Jayce has thought about it yet.

Once he gets out of the shower he sits on the couch in sweatpants and a t-shirt and texts Jayce.

Viktor: Are you thinking about names or is it just me?

He stares at the text, he hums. He sets his phone aside and grabs his headphones and a nearby sketchbook to really get his mind off things.

He gets an answer from Jayce a few minutes later, and he’s way more interested in the answer to his question than he is in the half hearted scribbles he’s drawn.

Jayce: I like the name Sofia.

Viktor smiles, surprised a little at the relief he feels sinking into him. Maybe they’re both a little overeager at the idea.

Viktor keeps track of his cycle as much as he hates it, the first time he’s pretty sure he’s supposed to be ovulating it’s the usual song and dance. Jayce takes his sweet time with Viktor despite his impatience. He eats Viktor out until he’s a shivering mess before he climbs up on the bed and kisses Viktor’s breath away as he fills him, and then fills him.

In the afterglow Jayce is kissing Viktor’s stomach and musing about names.

“Apollo. For a boy.”

Viktor huffs a laugh, “It’s not a bad name,” he smiles. “But I think he would get made fun of. At least a little.” He pets his fingers through Jayce’s hair, “What about Irena?”

Jayce hums, kissing Viktor’s stomach again, as if he thinks kissing will make it stick. “I like Irena.” He rests his cheek on Viktor’s thigh, smiling up at him, “Write that one down?” Jayce smiles, and Viktor nods. He grabs his notebook off the side table and flips through a few pages. He scribbles the name down at the bottom of their ‘girl’ list, which has four other names on it, while their boy list sits woefully empty.

“I sure hope we have a girl,” Viktor mumbles as he puts the end of his pen between his teeth, “We don’t have a single boy name picked out.”

“Well in our defense we don’t even have a fetus yet.” Jayce snorts, kissing Viktor’s stomach, “Yet,” he repeats against his skin, making Viktor laugh at him. “How soon can we know?”

“We wait until I’m supposed to start bleeding. So eh, about two weeks?”

“It’s gonna be a long two weeks,” Jayce sighs.

And it is, in fact, a long two weeks. Viktor finds himself checking at least once a day, double checking when he’s supposed to start and reminding himself two more weeks, then ten more days, and then one more week.

The day he thinks I could probably take a test today is the day he starts his period, and the idea of having gotten it on the first try is dashed against the rocks.

Viktor ends up dipping out of work early to go and sit in the park for a few hours, shoes off, toes in the grass, grounding himself. It gives him more anxiety than he cares to admit, but the idea of telling Jayce is a balm on his nerves. Because he knows that Jayce will hug him tightly and kiss him and ask if he wants to try again.

So Viktor goes home feeling okay about the whole thing, and ready to give it another shot in a few weeks.

Jayce takes it well, biting Viktor’s jaw and promising to do better next time once Viktor assures him they will be trying again.

Viktor’s curled up in bed one morning when he gets sent a link to a song by his youngest sister, Pow- eh, Jinx. Right she goes by Jinx nowadays, he has to remind himself. It’s still new.

He opens up the link and turns his volume down, not wanting to disturb Jayce where he’s curled around Viktor’s stomach. It’s a pop song, not his usual style but not something he actively hates, but the words are what really gets him.

You know I just might
Let you lock me down tonight
One of me is cute, but two, though

Viktor snorts softly and shakes his head. He checks the message again and her only message is “for encouragement ;)”.

Viktor: Abusing your privilege as the only one who gets to know we are trying, I see.

Jinx was the only one who knew simply because she was the only one Viktor cared to tell. He wasn’t particularly close with his other siblings, him being in college by the time the other four were adopted. As high schoolers the older three had almost no interest in him, but Viktor spent quite a bit of time with his youngest sibling, bonding over their shared interest in art and math.

Despite himself he’s humming the song in the shower less than an hour later. He looks it up on his ride to work to listen again. He finds he can’t get it out of his head and he listens to it pretty often over the course of the next few days.

He’s got it playing in the kitchen as he’s doing dishes when Jayce gets home one afternoon, humming along to the song as he listens to the other set down his stuff and come to find him in the kitchen.

“This song again?” Jayce asks with a smirk, kissing the top of Viktor’s head where he’s sitting in front of the sink.

“Yep.” Viktor nods, tipping his head back to look up at Jayce, smiling at him, “It’s catchy.”

“It’s about getting pregnant.”

“It is incredibly relevant to our life. Speaking of, we have to have sex tonight.”

“Oh, twist my arm.” Jayce mumbles, kissing Viktor and then turning to the fridge to find something to make them for dinner.

Jayce gets something started and then disappears to change out of his work clothes. Viktor finishes the last of the dishes and dries his hands off as he rolls his kitchen chair into a corner and grabs his crutch to stand. Viktor has turned the music down by the time Jayce comes back, and they talk about their days. Viktor sits at the dining room table and watches Jayce move around the kitchen as he throws together some stir fry for them.

They eat sitting next to each other, Viktor reading a book over his plate as he usually does and Jayce watching him while Viktor pretends not to notice.

After they eat Jayce takes the dishes to the sink. Viktor pushes up from his chair and starts making his way toward the living room, though it’s slow as he fights with the fastenings of his pants and kicks out of them on the way there. He flops onto the couch sans pants, and he lays out, arms over his head, stretching himself out and waiting for Jayce to come around the corner.

When he does he’s looking down at his phone, and when he looks up at Viktor he bites his lip and Viktor is sure he hears a laugh bubbling in his throat. “What are you doing?” Jayce asks, setting his phone down and coming over to the couch, Jayce’s couch, they both decided it was more comfortable.

Viktor arches on the couch, making his already high shirt ride up just a bit more, exposing skin that Jayce’s fingers find. “Seducing you. Is it working?”

“It always works.” Jayce smirks, one of his hands cupping the back of Viktor’s head to pull him into a kiss. His other hand pushes Viktor’s shirt up further to dance fingers across his stomach and his ribs. Viktor arches into his touches with a soft moan and he nips softly at Jayce’s lip.

Jayce’s hands push the fabric up higher and his kisses trail lower until they’re meeting in the middle. Viktor arches away from the couch as Jayce pushes his shirt the rest of the way off. He drops it off the side of the couch and he leans over Viktor to kiss him into the cushions again.

“Take me to bed?” Viktor asks against his lips, arching into his touches and grinning when Jayce scoops him up in his arms. Viktor wraps his arms around Jayce’s shoulders and hangs on as he’s carried into their bedroom.

Jayce lays him on the bed with care, kissing a trail down Viktor’s neck as his hands work their way to his leg brace and start undoing the straps. Viktor runs a hand through Jayce’s hair, arching into his kisses as they trail down his chest to his stomach. The brace falls off the bed with a clatter and Jayce hooks his fingers in the waistband of Viktor’s boxers, tugging them teasingly until Viktor pulls his hair in retaliation. “Get on with it,” Viktor huffs, impatient as always when he lets Jayce take the lead like this. Jayce always loves to lease him so much.

Jayce chuckles at him, a noise that makes Viktor’s cunt pulse despite himself, as he pulls Viktor’s underwear down. He noses at his happy trail and works his way down until he can lick a tongue over Viktor’s pulsing cock, drawing a high, needy whine from his partner.

“Jayce,” Viktor moans, “don’t tease me.”

And the order is just as effective as any other time Viktor asks him not to tease, Jayce just does it more. He lathes his tongue from Viktor’s asshole to the tip of his cock and revels in the way the other man shudders and moans underneath him.

Jayce slips two fingers between his folds, flicking at the rings on his labia and then drawing back to look. “Did you know,” Jayce starts, and then he presses a finger against Viktor’s body, right where his cunt and his thigh meet, “you have a mole right here? Right next to your piercings. Right next to your hole.”

Viktor shudders, Jayce gets like this sometimes, random little toppy stints, and they always make Viktor feel so good. So nice to let go of his own need for control, even if it’s just for a little while. Viktor’s hips rock up into the touch, and he shifts his hips to the side just a little, trying to guide that finger into him. “Jayce,” Viktor whines a little when that finger pulls away, only for it to come back a moment later and press inside him.

“Ah!” Viktor’s hips twitch, and Jayce lays a hand on his stomach, pushing down.

“Stay still. I want to make sure I do it right this time.” Jayce bites at Viktor’s thigh, just under where his skin is permanently darkened from the rub of his brace.

The music in the other room changes. Viktor’s attention is only taken for a moment by it, long enough to catch the chorus.

Don’t lie, get it right
Need me every night
You love me like cocaine

“That sounds more like you,” Jayce murmurs against his mound, and Viktor can’t help a little laugh. He pets a hand through Jayce’s hair just as the man finally, gloriously, takes Viktor’s cock back into his mouth, this time licking and sucking at it with intent. It makes Viktor gasp and arch off the bed, at least until Jayce pushes him down again. Viktor’s hips twitch, wanting to fight, but he knows Jayce can keep him pinned pretty easily.

“Jayce,” he settles for trying to reason with him instead, pulling lightly on his hair, even as Jayce’s tongue works him over and makes it hard to get the rest of his sentence out, “Jayce you cannot get me pregnant with your mouth.” He moans out the last word as Jayce pulls off with a long, slow suck.

“I know, I know,” Jayce sighs and turns to nip at Viktor’s thigh a couple times before he grabs him by his hips. “Gotta do it this way instead.” Jayce sounds like he’s annoyed and Viktor is about to ask him if he’s alright when one rough movement sends Viktor barrel rolling on the bed onto his stomach.

He grasps at the sheets as Jayce climbs over him, pinning him to the bed with his weight. Viktor can feel the press of Jayce’s cock against his ass and he moans, rocking back into it. Jayce clicks his tongue at him and Viktor huffs in annoyance. “Can’t get you pregnant that way either.”

“Jayce,” Viktor grits out, getting impatient.

Jayce, thank god, seems to get the message at least. He pulls away just long enough to shove his own pants down before he pulls Viktor up onto his knees. VIktor’s expecting the blunt head of his cock at his entrance and can’t help the noise that escapes him when Jayce’s tongue meets his cunt again. Something between a sob and a moan and a curse of frustration. He rocks back into the heat of Jayce’s mouth and finds himself murmuring “please, Jayce, please.”

Jayce hums softly in acknowledgement to the pleas, but makes no effort to stop, the clacking sound of Jayce’s tongue piercing hitting the one in his clit makes him jump every time as it sends little shockwaves through his body.

Viktor moans and rocks back into Jayce’s tongue as it dips into his hole, his muttered pleas growing more desperate the longer Jayce works him over. Just as he’s sure Jayce is gonna make him come like this the other pulls away, he palms Viktor’s ass and squeezes it hard as he gets up on his knees behind him. “Ready?” Jayce is breathless as he asks, the tip of his cock brushing teasingly at Viktor’s entrance.

“Jayce!” Viktor snaps, rocking back and gasping as the action gets him exactly what he wants, the tip of Jayce’s cock splitting him open and sinking inside. “God, fuck!”

Jayce’s hands find Viktor’s hips again, and he plunges the rest of the way in, pulling Viktor back to meet him, making both of them moan loudly.

Jayce’s hips start up a quick pace, and Viktor rocks back into him, meeting his thrusts and moaning his lover’s name as Jayce fills him again and again.

Jayce kisses a line up the scar on Viktor’s back, leftover from a childhood surgery that Jayce only half knows about. Jayce moans against his shoulder and he bites softly at Viktor’s skin, a hand slipping underneath him. Viktor’s next moan beaks as Jayce’s fingers circle his clit.

It doesn’t take Viktor long to tip like that, broken moans shifting to almost sobs as he tips and Jayce doesn’t stop. He doesn’t want him to, Viktor begs him not to, “Please, please, Jayce, keep going, fuck!”

When Jayce comes Viktor knows it by his hips stuttering and his moaning, but something inside of him feels it. Differently. He feels the warmth inside him and somehow he knows.

Jayce’s weight on top of him as they collapse on the bed together is grounding, their heavy breaths joining in the air between them as Viktor turns to catch Jayce’s lips in a searing kiss.

As they’re cleaning up he feels… different. His hand keeps drifting to his stomach and eventually Jayce notices, gently catching his wrist and bringing his hand up to his lips to kiss. “What are you thinking?” Jayce asks him, a question they’ve gotten used to asking each other.

“Hm. I can’t explain it.” Viktor looks down at his hand in Jayce’s, so much smaller and paler. “But I feel like… like we’ve done it.”

Jayce squeezes his hand softly, “Yeah? You think so? How do you know?”

“I’m not sure.” Viktor shrugs. “But we will see if my instincts are right.”

Over the next couple weeks the feeling doesn’t go away. It’s a warmth deep inside him that he can’t throw up, even when the idea of actually being pregnant gives him enough anxiety to.

He’s staring at his phone on the couch almost two and a half weeks later, staring at his stupid period tracking app. It says he’s two days late.

The feeling hasn’t gone away and the anxiety has steadily grown because of it. Viktor didn’t even bother going into the shop this morning. Too nauseous from the nerves to even consider drawing a straight line on someone’s skin.

Or… nauseous from something else? He should go to the store and get a test.

The idea sends his stomach into rebellion, and he scrambles off the couch and into the bathroom. Minutes later he finds himself curled over the toilet with a hand on his stomach and tears streaming down his face, clenching the seat and trembling. He isn’t sure how much of it is anxiety anymore.

His stomach calms, and the rest of his body soon follows. He manages to get himself off the bathroom floor, cleans himself up in the sink and heads back to the living room where he abandoned his phone.

He pulls up Jayce’s contact and hits the call button.

It rings, and Viktor sits down on the couch, hugging himself. It rings again, and Viktor looks out the balcony doors over the city sprawling out their window.

Click.

“Hey, V, what’s up?” Jayce sounds a little concerned, Viktor doesn’t usually call him in the middle of the day after all.

“I,” Viktor starts, stops, takes a breath when he feels his voice shake. “I need a test.”

“A… test?” Jayce asks, and then he hears him gasp, he can practically see the way his eyes light up, “Oh! A test! Okay! I can pick one up on my way home from work.”

“Can you do it now?” Viktor asks, his own voice giving him away, shaking just slightly, quiet to try and make it less obvious and failing miserably. Jayce is quiet for a beat before he answers.

“Of course. Yeah. I’ll be home in… twenty minutes?”

“Okay.”

“Okay. Okay yeah. I’ll see you soon.”

“Love you,” Viktor smiles softly, knowing that the words will soothe Jayce’s nerves at least a little bit.

So Viktor waits. Twenty minutes he sits on the couch while his stomach roils a bit more. When Jayce comes in the front door he sounds out of breath as he says ‘hey’ and comes to the couch. He drops to his knees in front of Viktor and pulls him into a hug, the bag from the drug store forgotten off to the side for the moment and Viktor clings to Jayce’s warmth.

“You’re okay,” Jayce whispers in his ear, petting his back. “I’m right here. I got you.” Jayce doesn’t pull back until Viktor’s arms loosen, and Jayce squeezes his shoulders. Viktor grabs the bag off the floor and digs out the box. “I got a two pack. Just in case.” Jayce lays his hand over Viktor’s. “We’ll look at it together, okay?”

Viktor nods. He turns his hand in Jayce’s and he pulls it into a kiss. He takes the box and pushes off the couch, heading to the bathroom.

He reads the instructions, reads them twice just to kill another minute, and then does as he should. He sets it on the counter once he’s finished and now he just waits. He heads back to the living room, leaning on the wall on his way, his crutch propped up in the living room out of his reach, for now.

He sits down on the couch next to Jayce, who reaches over and puts a hand on Viktor’s thigh. “Whatever happens, I’m right here.” Jayce tells him again, and Viktor nods numbly.

“Three minutes.” He says, leaning his head on Jayce’s shoulder.

“Three minutes.” Jayce repeats, and then Viktor hears him take a deep breath.

Neither of them talk, Jayce fidgets every now and then, but Viktor doesn’t even know what to say to fill the silence, besides that he’s too busy counting out the minutes in his head, and he’s sure Jayce is doing the same.

After the three minutes pass Jayce squeezes Viktor’s hand. He stands and he pulls Viktor up with him, and Viktor leans on him as they head to the bathroom. Viktor sits on the edge of the tub and Jayce grabs the test, his fingers blocking the results for both of them. He sits next to Viktor and wraps an arm around him.

Two lines, Viktor thinks, just two lines.

“Ready?” Jayce asks.

Viktor shakes his head. “No.” He gently touches Jayce’s hand, “Show me.”

Jayce nods, and Viktor doesn’t realize he’s holding his breath until it all comes out of him in a sob when Jayce moves his fingers.

Jayce’s arm around him tightens and Viktor turns into him, burying his face against Jayce’s neck as another positively thrilled sob tears out of him.

“Holy shit,” Jayce murmurs, “you’re pregnant.”
