Work Text:

Troy and Abed are sitting in their shared incline sofas devouring popcorn from their limited edition Batman mega sized bucket.

They’re watching some typical spy movie when the villain, Mr.Europono, does the classic chair turn while petting a cat maneuver. Abed quips “hmm maybe we should get a cat? It could be used for the Europono cosplay. I have the hair and European descent.” Troy starts shaking in his chair but silently trying to hide his excitement.

The fact of the matter is that Troy has always wanted a cat, well he’s wanted many animals over his lifetime jumping from one animal hyperfixation to the next but his parents weren’t animal people and only ever got him goldfish he’d forget to feed. Maybe that’s why he loved playing football so much he loved the proximity to the animal mascot.

Troy’s not so good attempt at hiding his excitement was noticed by abed, typically abed had a hard time knowing what people felt but with Troy it was easy that’s what he liked about him. Abed paused the film signaling that this was serious; he never did that not even to eat or pee.

Abed turned to the other man and asked genuinely if he wanted to adopt a cat with him. Troy was taken aback as he never expected Abed to be such an animal fan just assuming that a small critter roaming the house would just freak or overstimulate him. though really that’s what he likes so much about abed he’s always filled with more surprises. And the thought of Abed snuggled up with a cat just sends blood rushing into his cheeks.

Troy eagerly accepted Abed's offer causing him to dart into their bedroom grabbing a 3ft tall binder that he’s never seen before (covered in stickers only Annie uses did she help him with this?) filled with different animal information and whether or not abed wants to adopt one.

Abed starts flipping through the pages:

Bat-no-rabies
Shark-no-bitey
Dog-maybe-loud
Deer-no-skittish
Spider-yes-cool
Basilisk-no-giant
Cat-yes-mischievous

The cat section is seemingly the longest.

Abed takes Troy’s through all his listings and graphs and calculations noting all of Troy’s suggestions and all the times his eyes glow up in the way he loves.

They both agreed on getting a hypoallergenic cat so Jeff couldn’t make any excuses to not meet it like he did with Britta's cats. They contemplate calling Britta for help but they decide that this is more so their thing.

After many days of searching adoption sites and visiting breeder’s homes they find this quaint store with a small anxious calico cat, the worker there explains that her mother died shortly after giving birth and that her litter has already all been adopted, she was left behind and alone. They knew they had found their cat, Troy wanted it because he needed to love and care for it and Abed saw himself in her and wanted to give her a better life. They took her home immediately and named her Baadir.

Back in the apartment they had a conversation:
A: Who should meet Baadir first? Britta and Annie would want to smother her in affection and Jeff-
T: would need time to open his heart and stop pretending he hates cats?
A: yep [finger gun] Shirley would need time to bake treats and get her kids over.

T: maybe we should throw a party?
A: like a kitten shower?
T: Yeah! Annie could help set it up and we could get free gifts for Baadir. Maybe we could even sneak in those lightsaber model toys we wanted in the gift list.
A: then we could re enact [insert Star Wars fight here] Baadir could be R2-D2.
T: Awsome.
A: cool. Cool cool cool.

The end!

Notes:

The cats name is Baadir as a like combo of their last names since they seem to like mixing their names to name stuff. I’d imagine it’s pronounced like ba-th-ir or ba-t-ir I’m not sure though.

Sorry for the half assed Star Wars reference i haven’t seen any of the movies
