Mordremoth has been killed from the inside. From its own mind. But before that, It had the time to put a seed inside the marshal. A seed that stayed even after the fight. A seed that could promise dismay.
The return post-Mordremoth has been… difficult. Trahearne was in a bad shape─ in all the sense of the term. Mikhail refused to leave his side, guarding him. It was easy to guess he was quite traumatized to have almost lost his love just because he wasn’t on his side to protect him.
During the long days─or maybe weeks? Mikhail didn’t try to count─ of Trahearne’s recovery, he was barely leaving anybody coming close to the marshal. However, he did call Taimi as soon as possible.
-”... I’m sorry” She pivoted to face the Commander sitting on a chair, his elbows on his knees more than attentive, now turning her back to the sleeping form of the green sylvari “I can’t extract the seed without risking damaging his vitals─”
Mikhail didn’t hear the rest, now his face in his hands. It was only when the hand of the asura touched his thigh that he looked at her with a tired look.
-”Commander I… I’m truly sorry” Taimi said, silence answering her “... Can I speak freely ?”
The blue sylvari examined her serious, worried expression and then at the love of his life in the bed. He then looked at her again. He wouldn’t like what she wanted to say.
-”No”
-”Commander… !”
-”Please─” He said with more fatigue than he intended to show.
-”All what I want to say─”
-”Taimi… !”
The hammer’s wielder sighed heavily, shaking slightly. He was tired. Body and mind. The hand of Taimi clenched on the fabric of his clothes before she let go. The asura walked toward the door but came to a halt in front of it.
-”I don’t want this but─” She began, hearing the chair of the Commander groaning “You need to think of the eventuality of what could happen”
Mikhail was there for Trahearne when he began to be more stable. Began to try to walk again. The… half transformation changed Trahearne’s body. His face was scarred, he was taller, bulkier. The Commander discovered he actually liked to have a lover taller than him in a way. The marshal discovered it as soon as he stood up with Mikhail’s help and was teasing him about it.
Everything could have been fine if people weren’t wary of the Necromancer now.
The Guardian heard people talking about the seed ─how did they know?─ and how Trahearne was now a bomb. The question wasn’t if he would turn into Mordremoth… But when. People knew they were dating and were calling on it. The Commander, the elder dragon’s hunter didn’t finish his job only because it was his lover. He was putting everyone in danger because of it. He sacrificed and killed for less. How funny he wasn’t doing it just because he suddenly was personally the target of it.
Mikhail heard all of this. He was happy to have Trahearne on his side, where he belonged.
-”How are you feeling today ?” He asked, putting himself in a more comfortable outfit.
-”...” Trahearne looked at his hand he was clenching, sitting on the bed they were sharing “... Pretty good, actually…”
-”Really ?” Sparkled the blue with a smile, looking and coming closer to the marshal.
The warmth of the sun passing through the windows was a welcomed sensation and a pleasing view. Mikhail sat in front of the other sylvari and examined him. He was… different. For him, he was still Trahearne. For him, he was still beautiful. Scars were just trophies of his survival. But it wasn’t just that. His body shape changed, his height… His scent… But he was there. Trahearne was here.
Mikhail closed the distance and took the necromancer in a tender embrace, his face on the shoulder of his lover. Trahearne’s hand traveled from his arm to his neck, slowly.
-”How pitiful”
Mikhail snapped his eyes open with confusion, hearing that chuckle and voice coming from the other sylvari. It then hit him who this voice belonged to─
The Commander ended up pinned down on the mattress by his throat by a big hand. His hands reached to the wrist of it, trying to push it away.
-”You made a terrible mistake, insect” Spoke Mordremoth, twisting Trahearne’s face with a smug disdain, “Your selfishness is what will cause your end”
The blue punched the body of his lover without all his strength, trying to hurt him just enough to make him lose grip. He looked at the corner of the room where his branded hammer was lying, and then at the marshal─ at Mordremoth. Mikhail didn’t want to hurt him, he didn’t want to do what he couldn’t back then… !
-”Trahearne…”
-”He is gone. Because of you”
The grip on his throat hardened, making it difficult to breathe. Mikhail punched harder, tried to scratch him, to push him. His hammer wasn’t that far but he couldn’t reach it. And even if he could─
-”You couldn’t kill him. You won’t. Your world will be mine as a result of your ridiculous love”
The Commander began to chock, his eyes rolling back. Mordremoth was right. He preferred leaving the world burn to ashes if it could save the ones he loved. If it could save Trahearne. His lack of air made him tremble.
-”Mikhail… !”
He snapped his eyes open and gasped air in his body. Trahearne was shaking him by his shoulders, above him. The Commander could breathe─ he put his feet on the marshal’s chest and pushed him out of the bed, out of him with all his strength. The necromancer fell hard on the ground and groaned in pain.
-”Mikhail what’s going─” He stopped when he saw his lover in the corner of the room, his hammer in his hands, ready to attack “Mikhail…?”
-”Don’t─ don’t─ don’t─” He stuttered in panic, his back on the wall “Don’t make me do this, don’t make me do this, don’t─”
-”Mikhail, calm down” Began Trahearne, standing up, his hands raising to try to smooth the blue “It was a nightmare”
Their glow in the dark of the night was a blessing here. The necromancer could see with clarity the expressions of his lover. His panic faded slightly away by confusion.
-”Mikhail. Everything is fine. It was a nightmare”
Slowly, he came closer to Mikhail who jumped when he noticed. The marshal didn’t dare to touch him yet.
-”Look at me” Mikhail finally crossed his blue-grey eyes to his golden ones “I’m here. You’re safe”
It didn’t wash his panic away like he was hoping for. However, it calmed him enough to take notice of the surrounding. Carefully, Trahearne put his hands on his lover’s ones and slowly took him in his arms. Mikhail was still holding the hammer, but he could wait.
-”I’m here. You’re safe. I’ll protect you”
A sob. Then Mikhail’s body began to shake before he left the weapon on the side and held him.
-”Sorry─”
Mikhail never told him what the nightmare was about. How could he? How could he confess he was, deep down, as scared as everyone else?
