Chapter Text
Horror was exhausted. For almost the entire day, Cross had asked him to move some of his lab equipment from his room into the lab downstairs, and his stupid brain said that it shouldn’t take too long. He was… very wrong.
“That should be the last of it” He huffed, patting the desk he just finished moving. Horror looked back at Cross.
Cross smiled, thanking the taller skeleton, “This means a lot, and now I’ll be able to mess around and make more healing vials this way”
“That’s good, can never have too many of those” Horror chuckles softly, ready to just go lie in bed and sleep until next week. “Now, have someone wake me for dinner” He said as he started walking to his room.
He nodded, understanding what Horror wanted. Cross watched him leave before looking at his newly arranged lab and ready to start experimenting.
Horror gently opened his door, the pale crimson wallpaper greeting him. Unlike most of the others rooms, his room was bare. There were a few of his axes hanging up on the wall, and his mini fridge by the bedside table.
Speaking of bed, he couldn’t wait to lay down and sleep. Horror went over to the bed and-
Crack!
He flinched, turning to see what made the noise. Nothing, from what he could tell. Then he glanced at his window and saw that a tree had fallen in the forest outside the castle.
He was about to relax when another, quieter, crack was heard from another tree falling. At this rate, he wasn’t going to get any sleep… maybe a walk could clear his head a bit.
On his way to the door, he saw Nightmare on the couch reading a news article. All he could see was a headline ‘Chaos erupts in Underswap #1735 as the Bad-‘ he didn’t bother to read the rest after that.
Horror didn’t want to bother Nightmare, so he just silently went to the door.
“Horror.” Nightmare didn’t even look up from the paper, one of his tentacles grabbing Horror’s arm as the rest idly curled around each other. “Where are you going?”
“…on a walk” He answered hesitantly, stopping in his tracks when he felt the tentacle around his arm.
“…you got your phone on you?”
“Of course I do- who do you take me for? killer?” He half heartedly made a jab, which Nightmare chuckled to.
“Just be back by dinner” His tentacle slowly released its hold on Horror’s arm, Nightmare satisfied with his answer.
“Don’t have to tell me twice, boss” Horror grinned, but Nightmare could see the tiredness in his eye.
Horror opened the door and went through.
He did not return in time for dinner.

Nightmare got impatient, pacing around the kitchen. Horror is never late for dinner, and not a word from him since he left? Something was wrong. It had to be. That’s when everyone’s phone received the emergency alert, sent out by Horror. Killer, Cross, and Dust crowded around Nightmare as he played the message.
It was only audio, and it was very staticy, but the slight panic in Horror’s voice was undeniable. His voice crackled to life, static drowning him out at times. “What… the hell-?! When did-“ he starts coughing, and the sound of him running came through. “D-Damn fog-! Can’t-… Anything!” He stopped running, coughing more before dropping the phone. “…wait-!” Horror screamed, growling drowning out his voice before fading into static as the recorded message ended. The only thing that could be heard, was horrified silence.
