chance to retry

Summary:

He thought that once the press came down, it'd be over. A cruel, yet quick death, one fitting for a person like him.
But as he opened his eyes to what he thought would be the afterlife, maybe even hell; he found himself back in that same locker, being given a second chance after failure.

Chapter 1: reminiscence

Chapter Text

The metal was cold against his back.

Despite the astronaut's jacket lying between him and the press, it didn't stop him from shivering due to pure instinct.

That was it, huh? He was going to die. But, well, he was fine with that. If it meant stopping the killing game.

He let out a deep, shaky breath, before calling out to the other in the hangar, "Start it!" in a raspy voice, his whole body aching from the poison flowing through his veins.

As the whirring of the metal plate lowering down on him sounded throughout the area, he closed his eyes. Don't move, he told himself. They had to do this. It was to end the killing game, prevent anyone else from dying. What's sacrificing one more person if it meant everyone else would be saved?

The leader allowed his body to relax, that thought acting as a safe haven. It was for the best. They'd all be saved.

The whirring got louder, and louder, until he could no longer move his body, permanently stuck under the press in the form of nothing but blood.

That was, until he gained the will to open his eyes again.

It was dark. Was the afterlife meant to be dark? He felt around, feeling cold metal on his palms. He was in a tight, tight space. It was uncomfortable.

I don't think the afterlife is a cold metal box... He thought to himself, seeing a few gaps of light in front of him. Gathering the small amount of strength he had, he kicked the barrier in front of him. Again, and again, his foot rebounding off of the tough steel with each hit.

Until, suddenly, the door swung open by force. He stumbled out of his prison and collapsed onto the concrete floor, biting back a groan, and pushing away the familiar sense of Deja vu.

He slowly and groggily opened his eyes, taking in his surroundings. A... classroom?

And that, was when the thought hit him. He wasn't in the afterlife. He was back in the Ultimate Academy.

Kokichi Ouma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader, alive again. Alive, and given an involuntary reset to do it all over again.
