“Do you know how to steer this thing Firey?” Leafy asked as the two soared just below the clouds, having to practically shout to be heard over the wind as the hand glider picked up speed.
“I- uhh, I don’t think so. Hold on Leafy we’re going down!” Firey shouted back.
At that moment they hand glider wobbled before suddenly turning downwards, sending them both spiralling towards the ground.
CRASH
Leafy yelped as she hit the ground, feeling a sharp pain shoot through her arms as she had used them to protect her face and body from taking the brunt of the fall. Her ears were ringing as she quickly pulled herself onto her knees, groaning as more pain bloomed across her body. Looking over to her right she saw Firey pulling himself up to sit, a hand clutching the back of his head and looking similarly in pain. He turned to her and opened his mouth opened like he was about to speak but couldn’t get any words out before another voice came from behind them both.
“People, Leafy is over there! Get her!”
Turning they saw the rest of the contestants running over to them, the closest being Golf Ball who was standing mere meters away. She was also coincidentally the one who had shouted.
“And get Firey too, that traitor saved her! They both deserve the death penalty!” Pin’s voice rang out from the crowd. Leafy and Firey looked at each other, worry evident before quickly rising to their feet to start running.
