That One Craving

The day hadn't been particularly difficult, but the urge to get up from her desk and leave the office grew with each passing hour.

The need to return home was more prominent every day and everything indicated that it would not diminish in the near future, on the contrary, it would increase.

The worst part of the situation is that she doesn't know if after the birth of her firstborn things will go back to how they were before or if that desire to not leave her home will double.

Shaking her head, she let those thoughts go and tried to regain her interest in the reports on her desk. It was, after all, the Sheriff's duty to ensure that all information resulting from the investigations was properly filed.

Caitlyn Kiramman wouldn't allow a criminal to not be brought to justice because of a piece of information omitted in the bureaucracy. Even though right now all she wants is to be home with her wife.

Cait can't understand how her wife was able to convince her to continue working. Vi Kiramman managed to do it by using her sense of duty and justice against her.

Looking up from the papers on the table and directing her cerulean iris to the clock on the wall, Cait smiled to herself. It was time to return home.

She took a few minutes to organize everything so that tomorrow it would be easier to pick up where she had left off, and after one last look at her work, she closed the office door behind her.

As she walked through the common area where the other Enforcers were, several of them waved goodbye to her with a small gesture, and others with a nod.

No one wondered why the sheriff left work early—well, early by Caitlyn Kiramman's standards, who just six months ago could be seen in her chair late at night, stacks of paperwork on her desk and a cup of coffee in her hand.

That was in the past and now Cait returned every day at dusk.

As she left the building, the breeze of a summer night caressed her face. It was the beginning of what would be a beautiful summer night, the sky covered in stars that disappeared into the firmament.

With a smile on her lips and a little bounce in her step, the Sheriff of Piltover walked into the arms of the one her own arms longed to envelop.

It had started since the third month, at first it wasn't that difficult to ignore, but once the fourth month arrived it was almost impossible to continue ignoring it.

Violet did her best to ignore it, but with training restricted by her obstetrician's recommendation, her options were limited. Focusing on other tasks was becoming increasingly difficult; all she could think about was whatever her stomach was asking for that day.

After all, Violet didn't know how to simply walk up and order the strangest dish any Piltover resident had ever heard of.

Her efforts to keep her cravings a secret came crashing down the day Caitlyn caught her staring through the window of the small Zauni cuisine restaurant.

They were walking hand in hand, it was Cait's day off and since the Sheriff had decided to use her influence, Vi wouldn't have to work again until who knows when. Both of them were more than available for a leisurely walk at sunset.

Cait had asked her a question, but Vi couldn't remember what it was even if her life depended on it. Her mind had shut off from the world the moment a client in the small place had opened the door, letting out the aroma of the food being prepared inside.

Her silver irises focused on the various plates placed on the tables.

It took Cait a couple of taps on her shoulder to bring her back.

It is worth mentioning that they had dinner there that night. Vi's palate was in heaven.

Upon returning home, Vi, overcome with excitement and the satisfaction in her stomach, slipped to mention that she had been craving one of those dishes for months.

The indignation in Cait's eye was immediate, along with the reminder that she was there to satisfy any desire Vi had, even if it was a Zauni dish at midnight.

After that event, visits to the Zaini cuisine place became more frequent, along with trips to Zaun to stock the house's cupboards with fresh and authentic ingredients.

That was how one summer evening Cait returned home after a quiet day at work and didn't find her wife on the couch where she normally rested waiting for her return.

No, that afternoon Vi was in the kitchen, the results of her labors visible on the counter. Knife in hand, what looked like chunks of some kind of fish on the cutting board, and a big smile on her face, Vi welcomed her home.

Cait simply leaned a shoulder against the doorway to the kitchen and smiled back.

Pregnant Vi

Later that night, both with satisfied stomachs and in the comfort of their bed, Vi would explain that today she had been craving Jerico's but didn't have the energy to go all the way to Zaun, so since they had the necessary ingredients at home, she decided to prepare it herself.

For Cait, her wife's version was superior, but that was something the Sheriff had made Violet promise she would never tell the fish man.

After a few laughs at Cait's expense, Vi confessed that she had used some spices commonly used in Piltover to make the dish more palatable to Cait.

At the time, Cait didn't understand how her love for Vi could grow, but that was a mystery she wouldn't waste any time solving. This was something she would enjoy to the fullest. After all, in just three months, all that love would double within her heart, and now two people would be the source of her happiness.
